As the title says, I accidentally uninstalled the Camera app from my phone. I'm using Passion ICS ROM, and I tried re-applying the ROM zip, and installing the Camera.apk from the zip and neither worked. Is there any way to get it back?
Thanks in advance
get a app, root explorer, root browser w/e u want.
On your computer extract the camera.apk from the ICS Passion ROM, its located in system/apps/
put that .apk on your phone.
move the .apk into system/app/ on your phone.
make sure permissions are same as the other apps in the same folder.
something like

reboot, and now check if its back.

If you have FCs on your phone, try to wipe cache (and Dalvik cache) in recovery mode first.
To install apps, you do not need to copy the files into special folders.
Just click the apk file and select install.
The app will install from apk file automatically, if there is no "old" version installed and all required things (access, other apps, phone model, etc.) are available.
If you are not sure about installed apps, just check in settings menu: Settings > Applications.
Or use an app like Titanium Backup to manage your apps (+ app data).
oh please, im not a noob, i know how to install apks, i need to pre include them in my rom,
certain apks, for example "ChatOn", when i install it normaly it will work with no problem,
but when i put it in system/app it will force close when i first start the phone
the same goes with data/app
Hello!
After rooting my phone I uninstalled the stock Messaging app with Root Uninstaller. I made a backup of the Mms.apk file. A few days later I tried to reinstall it, but when I run it, it only says "Application not installed".
I've been searching around for hours, tried copying the backed up apk to the /system/app folder, changing permissions, rebooting, flashing various zip packages, wiping the delvik cache, etc, but still it says "Application not installed".
When I go to the /system/app folder with Super Manager, the copied apk file is displayed as Messaging(No install) ?! screenshot: hxxp://i49.tinypic.com/33zd1jb.png
I also tried with some other apks I found online but it doesn't work either.
I know I could flash the ROM, but I'd like to use that as a last resort.
Any ideas/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
putting an app directly in system/app, how is different from installing it normally?
for "normally" i means install a .apk file, not using the market, i don't have market.
if i install an apk, it goes to /data
the only difference i see is that an app in system cannot be uninstalled, but only blocked, any other difference?
