The only two potential issues I can see are, device should be in fastboot mode, but the HTC unlocking guide/steps will have advised this and if you're on windows, will need the correct drivers loaded, but the HTC unlocking guide/steps should have advised this also.
When i ran this command, it took about 3-4 seconds to complete. I followed each setup of the guide posted on HTC's web site. If you're experiencing issues with HTC's unlock method I would suggest referring to their troubleshooting tips.
I also ran the command from Linux so I didn't have to deal with any drivers. Hope that helps and good luck!
Just as the title states...
I have completed the process on the HTCDev site many many times. The process itself works fantastic. Each step responds exactly how they state it should. I submit the token code and get a Bin file. Using fastboot to flash the Bin file results in the phone prompting me to unlock the bootloader. I select yes using the volume up and then hit power. The phone powers off and reboots restoring everything to factory. So it would seem that everything works correctly. I get no error messages during the process. I get nothing but the results that I should be expecting...EXCEPT...
The bootloader remains locked.
I'm beyond frustrated at this point. I've followed every single set of instructions just thinking maybe there's a step missing in one of them. Yet they all perform the same. End result...Bootloader still locked. No idea what is going on. Called HTC Tech Support and they weren't any help at all. Basically they said to leave a comment on the HTCDev site.
Any ideas???
Have you tried flashing anything even though it still says locked? It is a longshot, but there is a chance it is unlocked but just still says locked.

Since it's getting wiped anyway, exchange the phone for a new one.

I second that, I had a problem Unlocking my Rezound, I called HTC they said they dont replace phones and to call VZW. I called VZW told them that HTC told me to call for a replacement, they gave me a hard time. I told them as a developer, not being able to unlock my phone is a detrimental to my livelyhood. They sent me a refurb (standard) and I had no problems unlocking it. I posted my saga over in general you can see it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416472
Im getting this "error: cannot load 'Unlock_code.bin" when trying to fastboot flash the unlock code htc dev sent me.Is anyone else seeing this or know how to get around it. I do have my unlock code in my platform tools folder which is where I open the command prompt from. I have also tried 2 different browsers. Im pretty sure its not my adb setup as I have unlocked my wifes rezound, my gnex, and also my n7 with it. Im at a loss. Any ideas or thoughts in getting this thing done are appreciated !

Hey everyone,
So I've been having a problem with my Z Ultra that I haven't been able to solve for a number of weeks now.
The service menu on my C6833 specifically says that the bootloader is unlockable, as shown here:
(imgur) com/OO9549 (sorry, XDA won't let me post links yet. ><)
However, when I try unlocking using Sony's official instructions (and using FlashTool) - I get the following:
fastboot -i 0x0ffce oem unlock 0x(my key here)
...
FAILED (remote: Command did not succeed)
finished. total time: 0.027s
I've copied/pasted the key, I've typed it out manually, they all get me the same error. I'm running Windows 8.1 (finally managed to get the drivers installed), yet this also happened on a Windows 7 machine. I've been racking my brain, but I can't find ANYTHING that'll help. The last time I tried, I gave up trying to unlock the bootloader and installed the DualRecovery for locked bootloaders, which ended up bricking my phone and I had to flash back to stock.
Help! I just want to be able to install custom roms again! D:
Hmm, that's strange. I've googled a bit and you're not the first xperia owner with this issue. Some say that updating or re-flashing the ROM will fix it. Which version are you running?

I've re-flashed the ROM a few times on different versions. I'm currently on 4.2.2 - 14.1.B.2.257.

I had the same problem when I tried to unlock.
Tried 5 times and then was finally successful. Ensure that you have typed out the commands correctly. Don't copy and paste as that wont work.
Are you getting the same error in Flashtool?

I can't be sure as it was 3/4 months ago. Kept having issues, and I gave up. Then came back and after many attempts it worked. It was incorrect commands i was typing. 0 or O may have been the problem, or no space where they should be one.
If it says command failed then it sounds like you have the command correct, but the key is incorrect or the format of your input after the command is incorrect.
Also... are you rooted? Root first then try agian

I have copied/pasted, as well as typing out the commands. This has happened with Flashtool as well as in the command prompt.
And the phone is rooted.
EDIT:
I figured out the problem. I ended up using flashtool for the whole process. Windows 8.1's Driver Signature Verification NEEDS to be turned off. I ended up getting a new unlock code from Sony and that worked.

Hi Mandersoon,
I am in same problem and do you have any link or email to get new Unlock code from sony?
Thanks.
Encountered this on my first try. Then on the second attempt, it went through.
i had the same problem, it said "FAILED (remote: Incorrect format for unlock data. Should be on the form "0x)" so I did exactly as it said - added "0x" before my code and it worked!
I just removed "0x" from the unlock code given by sony, it worked like a charm. :good:
I dont know why.

can you please share the code i cant understand where to add 0x. i am facing the same issue. reply ASAP
Do not share the code/key. That's your unique key.
@psylbaba: it says "added "0x" before my code", so I assume he means 0x in front of the key when you're unlocking in Flashtool.
I just.....removed 0x and the <> in my code and it worked like a charm. Curious. (XZ1 user here)
Hi, found this thread when I was trying to unlock a Xperia z2, for me worked removing only the <> like this: fastboot oem unlock 0x"CODE"
Right click, administrator mode
I've tried on 3 different computers today and I'm having a lot of problems with the htcdev site. Especially with logging in. But the main problem when I finally reset my password and login is once I get to the identifier token part I successful get mine in fastboot and I paste it. Then I submit and the site just hangs. I've tried like 5 times and I'm thinking it has to be their site. I've done this before but it was on my old phone desire 601, this is on the replacement I'm simply trying to unlock the boot loader shouldn't be this hard.
Please help. Now the site seems to be working but the damn thing is saying my unlock token is wrong as in too long. Bull crap it's exactly how they say set it up. Can anyone share their unlock bin with me damn it this is so annoying!!!

HtC is more commited to GCHQ and NSA than to development so you must use the same computer to log into your email that you used to receive your token.
