Hi everyone. Im one of the developers of SwitchMe, and app that allows multiple secure logins into separate installations of android on a single device. The pr is after the break.
I really need a few people to check into some issues people on the original galaxy s have been experiencing. There are some warnings involved:
- testers must perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops
- if you report results or bugs, please use the "Write to us" function in the app whenever possible, and always describe the issue in the header of the logs you send
- if you post here, bes sure to include your device type and rom
- if you have apps installed on sd, be sure to mention that as well
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SwitchMe is a unique application for root users that allows you to log in and out of multiple installations of Android just as you would on a desktop computer.
The technology behind SwitchMe saves all of your applications and data, protects it and stores it as a file in memory. You can then log out of an
account and log into a fresh installation of Android or another account with its own unique content.
You may create as many profiles as the memory is capable of holding. Some of these may require very little free memory because they contain few apps,
others will be larger as they contain many applications and lots of cache and data.
Why is this functionality useful?
Privacy - the most obvious benefit is that you can securely share one device among multiple users, which gives you privacy and peace of mind.
Testing - if you are a developer, you can use profiles as clean sandboxes to test your applications and their interaction with the system.
Gaming – with multiple installations of Android on a single device, you can now play online MMOs as different characters.
Speed - the games your kids play slow down your tablet, but with SwitchMe you can easily create profiles without games or instant messengers.
Battery life - when the battery is low but there are important emails or documents to edit later, switch to a profile which only contains these essentials.
These of course are only suggestions - there are plenty of other uses for the functionality SwitchMe offers.

The Lite version allows the creation of two profiles, enough to test on.

You had me all the way up to "testers must perform a full nandroid backup before using the app, it is not our responsibility if you start getting boot loops". That's when you lost me.
Hi,
I'm using the app for some days. First version works fine but I was not able to generate a cloned profile, the new profile was always empty. Next version was able to generate cloned profiles, but after installation of the update I was stucked in my second profile because the switch button don't work any longer. Todays update fixed these error.
I have a Prime 32 GB with dock, ICS 4.0.3 and I love this app. Now I can share my tablet with my wive without having trouble with emails and highscores.

Yeah we can't make nandroid backups just yet
ill test as soon as we can run full backups, hopefully in the next month or so
I have this running without any issue on ICS. Fast switching appears to work fine too. Great application.
I am a little nervous not having nandroid backup!
Here's the link to the post for the application! I Enjoy

I was nervous trying this app without a backup, but it worked great.
Sweet app!

Sounds like a good app. Bump
I have been running for 3 days with no issues, AND without the nandroid backup. So far no issues and it works a treat.
Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions or want me to test something.

Sorry guys, i spent my cash on a 7.7 instead so there isnt a Prime in the office yet and i wasnt aware that you had no fully working recovery.
In any case, Titanium and the stock recovery should be just fine in terms of fixing the device if you have any issues!
No issues here for 3 days.
I get the pro version
Let me know if you have any issues please!
Just finished my backup with titanium, I just hope you are right with the stock recovery in case of problem! I will post comment soon!

Recovery is recovery. This app will not affect it...
Good news
I just bought the app, because this is a feature requested in android since a long time and I think this is a really good start and I want you to still improve the app! Like switching without reboot or have a lockscreen with the possibility to switch profile
It's just bad that the average people can't use it because it require root, but I understand you have to follow Android limitation... Anyway, you did a good job!
Here's my test so far:
Clone current profile => Woking ( takes a while but I had a lot of apps )
Create new profile => Working
Fast Switching => Working
Problems or questions:
- Bubbleator "live wallpaper" seems to crash after a "profile switch" but to be honest it can crash by itself easy... lol
- Is it normal I can Access pictures/video folders of other profile ? ( if it is, that could be great to have an option to "lock" a folder so only the "owner" will be able to access the files )
- The "Asus" apps installed by default like SuperNote or mylibrary (ebook reader) seems to have access to notes or books stored in other profile ( again maybe this is normal )
I don't understand how the space usage is displayed..In one of my new blank profile there's 53.29mb available for apps same for data and same for Dalvik and it's filled at 84%. In another new blank account it's 246.54mb available for every categories.. So why the space allocated to each profile is different and when/how this is determined ? Is it fixed ?
That's pretty it, thanks for this good work! And thanks in advance for your answer!
Is there anything else to test ?
Problems with games
Hello,
I haven't try games in my previous test. After few profile switchover I can't play all fullscreen games.
I got problems with:
Tinytower (not tablet optimised), Zen pinball, Shine runner, they all crash at sometimes during the loading, 2-3 seconds after the program start or during game play. I can't say if it's the game itself having problem, but I can tell you tinytower as never crashed on my device before and I have played Zen pinball 2-3 times and it was ok.
Example of game that still work: mx moto, Angry Birds, Tank Riders, Air Attack HD, SiegeCraft THD. So far I haven't got any problems with normal apps other than games...
Most of the games seems to run ok... I don't understand why few of them are crashing.
Does SwitchMe will use more "ram" for other profile or it just don't have a footprint at all once you switch and "reboot" ?
Fullscreen games? Maybe you have them on the SD in some broken ways? For me every game works just fine.
Galaxy Tab 8.9, KANG
Yeah forget about the fullscreen.. lol it's just my bad english. I tried to reboot the device and the games worked again. It appear to happend when I do several consecutive profile switch. I will try to reproduce tonight and let you know if this happen again. The games wasn't on the sd because I have no "external storage" on my tablet.
I have been using the paid SwitchMe for a week or so now and have 3 profiles. One for my wife and me along with a "guest" account, so far its been great, I would, however, like to have an icon or section that would show the memory taken per user. That would be killer for me to see it visually at a glance like that.
My one question with the app as is I get toast notifications granting the app superuser access from time to time long after booting. It's the only app I have that does that. Not a problem at all, just curious about it.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using xda premium
Works great here
Hello,
Succesfully rooted and created 3 profiles with switchme.
Everything works smoothly, from clone to fresh profile.
Fast switching works great, no problem so far...
One question though: I though there was a widget to switch profile... I need to go to the app (through notification's bar shortcut) to switch profile. Anything like that planned?

Hi all,
Just updating this as a little source of info incase anyone else searching finds my experience helpful!:
- Rooting: Decided not to do this until it's clear if offical updates work with it or not.
- Contacts: Created a google account which now syncs perfectly with the phone. All contacts are stored on the web account, so clearing the phone during resets isn't a problem - just put the Gmail details back in and everything is cool again
- File Manager: Using ES File Explorer from the market place (Free), works perfectly and lists all the files on the SD card.
- Network Usage: Using NetCounter from the market place (Free), works perfectly just keeping tabs on how much data has been sent over the cell or Wi-fi; breaking it down for usage on a daily basis, weekly, monthly and total. Also seems to support alert notifications so you can have your phone warn you when you've reached a certain amount of data.
- Case / Screen Protectors: Found a few online and Amazon however yet to purchase any (there are some reviews saying the rubber cases are too tight on the phone and start rubbing the surface colour off them.

This is somewhat crossposted as I don't know if this is a more suitable board.
Anyhow! I've been stuck with a XDA Exec for a number of years however today, after it started sending emails with text messages, I've ordered a new HTC Hero on Orange in order to replace the rubbish WM OS which was giving me no end of problems.
To cut to the chase I'm wondering when I get my device is there anything in particular worth doing, newbie questions I know but we all have to start somewhere! For example:
- Is it worth rooting? What exactly does rooting the device then allow me to do? (I've come across the process for doing it multiple times but I'm still none the wiser as to what this enables the handset to do)
- In line with the above is there anything worth doing to the device during setup to improve it's overall usability / performance?
- Are there are any particular apps that are worth putting on to improve performance? Giving control over the CPU maybe?
...etc
Any general advice for a new handset would be appreciated as I know there are some brilliant minds here (just finding all the relevant information is sometimes tricky!)
All the best,
Temjin
Yes a few things
before you start up the device create a google account online first, ie create a google email address eg. [email protected]
Then make sure you setup the phone with this address when it starts up, otherwise you may have problems accessing the market like me haha.
Copilot is a must its an excellent program, just as good as tomtom if not better.
i installed solitare as well cos i missed it off my old diamond.
As for rooting i as yet have not done so because there seems to be no real reason so far, installing apps and modding the phone is simple by adding widgets etc.
The phone runs as smooth as day straight out the box for me, but my phone is unbranded.
Hope that helps
Not much point to rooting yet, unless you want to have hundreds of apps installed (app2sd).
I would recommend that you remove the "people" widget as it is really not hugely helpful and slows the phone down a lot, especially when swiping from screen to screen. If you experience lag, you can also try removing the large clock widget and peep. Without these, the phone is much faster. (it's kinda sucky having to remove them but to be honest I'd rather a more responsive phone, personally). Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544958
Try to avoid using task managers and task-killers as these will cause more trouble than they are worth - let android manage processes and memory by itself.
Finally, don't go wild installing apps. Certain apps such as monitoring widgets cause havoc with the battery life, so install apps one or two at a time so that you will notice if performance or battery life suddenly plummets.

Oh when hard reseting
When you hard reset your phone if you ever need to, remove your simcard then put it back in after the reset, otherwise you lose you sim contacts like i have!!!
Hi guys!
I got my Hero on Tuesday and so far I'm absolutley loving it (although coming from WM 5.1 doesn't take much to beat ).
I've got a few more questions:
- When synced with Google Contacts a home address on the Hero is listed under "Find Home". This cuts the address short, is there a way of making it making the address field more presentable?
- Is there any native way for seeing how much data has been downloaded (gotta be careful of my tarrif limit!) or is there a simple app for this purpose?
- Is there anyway of browsing file directories?
- Is there any sort of protective cases or screen covers for the Hero?
In case it helps any other people who are looking for starter information:
- Rooting: Decided not to do this until it's clear if offical updates work with it or not.
- Contacts: Created a google account which now syncs perfectly with the phone. All contacts are stored on the web account, so clearing the phone during resets isn't a problem - just put the Gmail details back in and everything is cool again
Thanks!

You need an app, there is no native explorer. I have found ES File Explorer to be the best free explorer. It supports SMB network shares with ease too. No need to go through the hassle of connecting by USB and mounting the SD card to xfer files... you can just pull files directly over your network.
Hi Kiz,
Those two apps work fantastic! Thanks!
Hey,
I've installed (several times actually) VillainROM 6.1 today with full wipes of everything before hands and all. Great job and thank you for putting so much effort in it! I do have few small issues however. And would appreaciate if somebody would knew and shared a workaround or fix. ^__^
1. The ROM is quite sluggish. It's not slow per se but it's not snappy either. I suppose it's due to the problem of it being a memory hog. I mean I use Task Control to kill all the unnecessary apps during regulas usage and use to use a widget for it as well. In stock 1.5 (don't get me wrong, I do not wanna go back by no means) when using many apps my memory went down to about 55-65MBs and on a regular usage it stayed around 80-90MBs of free memory. In VR6.1 when I use it heavily memory goes down to 10-30MB and on a regular usage it floats in the vicinity of 40-50MBs tops. When I kill all the apps however I get anything between 80 and 90MBs of free memory. For about two minutes, cause even if I don't do anything it the device restarts all the services and is back at 40-50 in no time. Is there a way to deal with that or shall I just learn to live with it?
2. There's many apps that I don't and won't use and would like to remove those but when I do so through adb shell I start getting Force quites on GoogleApps and can't use Market at all. I wanna get rid of Adobe Reader, Footprints, Friend Stream, Java, News and Weather, PDF Viewer, Quick Office, Stocks, Voice Dialer, Voice Search and Weather, so if anyone knows which ones are safe to remove without compromising systems stability, I'd appreciate all the help.
3. I've also followed your guide of partitioning SD card for apps2SD that was supposed to work out-of-the-box when partitions are done right. At the moment they don't work at all as my space have rapidyly gone dow in a moile when I wasa installing them. How can I make sure that they work. I don't mean checkSD here I'm after a list of adb sjell commands to have it working or any other way really?
4. And last but not least... I'm not even sure if it's a problem I'm experiencing or is it something that is not supported but I've downloaded Overclock widget and it's not working as if it was not supported by kernel. I've used it on other ROM and it was fine so I don't know if it requires any tweaks or is it just not usablle in VR6.1?
I did not write all that to point out problems with the ROM or to say that I hate it - I like it and that's why I'm not switching to another one but seeking help in improving my experience with VR6.1. ^__^ Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

As said above, if you pop over to villainrom.co.uk, we can get you sorted out. 6.2 is out with fixes. As for 3, there is a great guide under "Guides" that will get A2SD checked and fixed.
After doing the rounds installing Auto Nooter on several NookColors, I thought I'd make a quick list of apps that are essential to have for any new installation. I'll update this list as needed, but hopefully it will provide new rooted users a good jumping point to get a nicely functioning device.
This list is geared towards the new rooted NookColor user who runs stable builds / auto nooted builds. If you just bought a Nook Color and haven't rooted yet, go see Guide to Nook Color Rooting. Many of these apps below will fix problems with the stock rom.
The list isn't really targeted for the Nookie Froyo bootable SD card, so if you have one, take what you will.
If you're a hip person and run custom roms or the like, you may find these useful, too! (Using ClockWorkRecovery or other roms is currently not documented in the Nook Color rooting guide. Don't attempt unless you're able to fix if things break.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Home Switcher - Say you accidentally set your home to not Softkeys before you got a launcher? Go grab home switcher and fix it!
ADWLauncher, or other Home screen. You need some place to run everything from. ADW Launcher is a great first step, and you can always change later.
AppBrain - An app market add-on that manages your apps for you. Much more comprehensive than current market.
Fancy Widget - Gets you started with an all-in-one clock widget you can add to your launcher, since ADW doesn't give you one by default. Add Fancy Home from the widgets menu for the comprehensive widget.
SoftLocker - Keeps wifi from bugging during a sleep by forcing sleep mode to only turn off screen. Yes, this will drain more battery, but the NC battery is huge, and not having to forcefully reconnect at every wake is worth it for people dealing with bugs. You may have to relaunch SoftLocker at reboot to get it to work properly, but that's a one-time thing per session.
DolphinBrowser HD, Miren Browser, etc. - There are plenty of better web browsers than the built-in one, mostly supporting multitouch, tabs, and more.
Root Explorer - Costs $4 at the time of this post. If you're going to spend any money on an android app, this should be it. A file management tool that is a million times better than others, since you can do a lot of simple root activities on device quickly without needing adb. It's really a very good and important to have app.
Astro File Manager - Another good file manager, but doesn't support Root. It's really good for simple file system management where you don't want to run the risk of breaking anything. Also, it can somehow install apk packages in the worst of conditions where other installers fail.
Titanium Backup - good for backing up data, or wiping data from a buggy app that keeps crashing
Thumb keyboard - $1.65 at time of posting. possibly the best keyboard for the nook. Beautiful display, customizable key and row height. Make sure to suppress full screen in options. Any keyboard requires some setup process to install via Terminal. See Replacing the Default Keyboard (You can use the terminal app below. Your app location should be /data/app/com.beansoft.keyboardplus.apk . Copy that to /system/app and use NookColor Tools to set the keyboard. This will make the market think the app isn't installed, but it works!)
Disk Usage - shows a visual representation of disk space at a glance. great app for finding where your space went!
GScript - lets you automate scripted commands. good for devs.
Android Terminal - lets you enter commands directly. good for devs.
adbwireless - adb connections over wireless. very convenient.
ROM Manager - An important app if you're using one of the newer experimental builds running from ClockworkModRecovery. If you don't know what this is, forget I even said anything about this app... Or read this link if you're really interested in some cutting edge build stuff, but ignore it if you just want a working device and you've auto nooted.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any apps you'd like to recommend for this list for the newbies out there? Post below what you think is important for people to have. This is for essentials, only, not optional apps like games or live wallpapers.
<reserved>
<also reserved>
Great list, here's a few more.
Miren browser - polished 3rd party browser with some awesome features. Slick menus and swipe to go forward and back sold me.
Thumb keyboard - possibly the best keyboard for the nook. I'm currently using the honeycomb skin and it looks fantastic. Customizable key and row height. Perfect for my huge thumbs.
Astro - file manager, compression handler, app installer, image and sound player....all around a badass app essential to any android device.
Also wanted to mention that root explorer is excellent. Forget logging on your computer to modify a file. I changed my nook hardware keys in a minute or so using root explorer. Great app.
Dont forget rom manager and the knowledge of howto make a nandroid with it
Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 (zoom2)/Tapatalk Pro
DROPBOX...Move .apks, music, movies, new flashables, ANYTHING, from phone, PC, or another Nook to yours. Should be 2nd on list beside Root Explorer (IMHO).

Can anyone recommend a good ram manager? I have autokill but I notice it does not kill everything and says my ram available keeps going down until I reset my nook. (gradually but still kind of annoying)

If you are on the stock os 1.1 (Eclair 2.1) you may want to look into Advanced Task Killer. If you are on Froyo or higher you shouldn't use this. Android will do a good job taking care of itself.
That said, I reboot my Android devices once every couple of days. I notice that keeps it running pretty well.
I actually have been using advanced task killer on froyo. Will that hurt anything?
I found WiFi Explorer (FREE) or Pro ($1.60) very useful to move files between my computer and NC without a cable.
Besides some of the other great apps people have said I would add 'Pulse' as an RSS reader. It looks so good and a great way to get your news!

Tasker turns a smartphone into a SMART phone.
I thought about getting it to try to enable a numeric lock code, and trying on my DX, it does work with one of the Locale plugins, but it's a bit flaky. I was gonna set the Nook so that if it was within range of my WiFi at home or at work, it would not have the lock code, but everywhere else, it would be enabled.

Yes....You are running froyo...android 2.2 and above optimizes running apps/services...don't mess with it...keep one around if you have to kill a rogue app on the fly, but dont let it run continuously....

Two great app to how!
I would only add two additional apps to this great list...
Sqlite Editor and Task killer, great apps to have on a newly rooted nook color!
I would strongly recommend the following:
Moon+ Reader for reading ebooks
Perfect viewer for comics
Epistle for taking notes (synchronises with dropbox)
I use ATK a lot on my DroidX with Froyo, if not it just keeps on getting slower and the battery drains quickly. What happens is some apps keep transmitting even though you closed them. For example, USA Today app I believe keeps sending fresh news articles even after you close the app as it's still running. So keeping it alive when you may not look at it until a few days later is wasteful of battery life and slows other stuff you want to do. Was it works with 2.1, I don't think so, I believe ATK is just as relavent now than then.
The app you really need to get after Angry Birds is Paper Toss.
File Expert?
I use File Expert for managing my files on my nook. It's free, has an option to run as root, and has a built in network interface that works out of the box. Plus having a back button right on the UI makes it easier than using any of the soft keys hacks... I can't post links, but the package is called "xcxin.filexpert" on the market.

1.2
Added lock screen for logging in and out
More stable Fast switch implementation
Reworked UI colors
Now, its very important that we get some feedback on how this big new feature works, so please read up on it in the help and post your thoughts!
1.2.2 - HOTFIX 2
Reworked widget on qHD+ displays
Fixed widget text on HC and ICS
Fast switch improved on older devices
Getting ready to wipe from SHOStock 1.9.1 and flash to 1.9.2 with the newest Siyah, ICS theme, and init.doh. I'll give this a shot and let you know how it goes.
ok, did some more switching last night after the two updates.
i can swap over to the secondary profile alright, problem is i cant get the wifi to work. i can go into settings and turn on wifi, then the phone will scan for a bit and then turn the wifi off automatically. this does not happen with the main profile.
dont know if its just something with my phone or something due to the app.

Its not the app - wifi settings are individual to every profile.

i tried a few more time. its only when i switch from the primary to secondary profile. i go into settings, turn on wifi. wifi turns on, it scans for a bit, then turns off on its own. i dont know, tried rebooting, wiping cache and dalvik, but that did nothing.
wifi works just fine on my primary profile. its strange, dont know whats causing it.

Maybe a third party app?
Try turning on wifi and rebooting...

ok, that did the trick. swapped profiles, then rebooted and the wifi stays on and connects.
then swapped back (which for some reason takes longer to swap to the main profile, probably due to many more apps loaded on it). after i was into the main profile, no all my settings were correct. a reboot and everything was back to normal.
so, what happens for me, swap profile, then reboot to have it the way you want it.
i tried several times and each time was the same. for instance, when i swap back to my main profile, the soft key lights and haptic feedback are turned off. reboot and its back.
Please send some logs via the app after reproducing this issue. Be sure to mention your xda name in the description!

sure thing.
There is a similar issue with volume on the atrix, i think they are related...
sent the log date just a bit ago. i'll keep messing with it and let you know.
Thanks we will look into it monday

I recently installed HellRaised ROM, specifically this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502426
And after creating a new profile and switch to it, my phone went into the bootloop. I saw this happened once with MIUI when I created a profile then updated kernel/ROM and the simple solution was to wipe cache and dalvik, but that method didn't work. I reflashed my ROM without wipe but still didn't help, as expected. I ended up formatting system and data partitions to recovery my phone to working state.
I don't have any log to share, but just letting you know. It will be interesting to see if anyone using hellraised ROM tries this app and see if they see the same behavior.
Hi u all !
I am one of those that couldn't play any game more than 2 minutes without a crash...
As a last try after months... and before considering a hard reset... I tried something that seems to resolve all my crash problems !
What I did:
- Remove ASUS Task manager widget from launcher
- Remove my normal IMAP mail account
- Remove my work exchange account (Calendar, contacts....)
- Removed Battery Monitor Widget
- Removed System Tuner Pro
- 2 pages totally empty in launcher (the rest with many widgets)
Result (after a reboot):
No crashes at all ! and IU seems way faster (good improvement but not enough for a quad core in my opinion... the IU should fly.... even in economic mode...)
I don't know what of those 3 things did the trick (maybe a mix of them)... anyway no more crashes for me...
Would be nice if more people with crashes (and using any of those things) could try this... Maybe this is the bug so many people have been looking for !
Anyway.... after so many months.... and no way to just be able to use my tablet as it should.... come on ASUS....
Please feedback !
See U !
good observation. ill try one by one. ill start with task manager widget first. don't want to remove my email accounts or my system tuner pro. I have system tuner pro set up to eliminate alot of apps from starting up on boot.
Perfect... Let us know what u find.
I have to say that for my is a complete success !! I am trying one by one all my games (I am even not closing them... just pressing home button) all are working.... no reboot needed.... no crash at all (for now).
I am really happy !
Since I have been playing with the settings in the developer section right from the start and I never experienced any crashes I can not give you any feedback on your finding.
But while using my HTC Tegraphone I discovered what is described in that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599214.
Maybe you check it out and find something that helps you, otherwise I hope you get your crashy Asus resolved soon and someone else can give you additional information.
Good luck
For me, the only crashes i got was due to playing some games while on powersaving mode. The autocontrast or autobrightness (not sure which) that tegra3 forces while on powersaving mode conflicts with a few games.
The screen starts flashing (and the game freezes), and even if you quit the game and re-start, it'll simply crash (force close). You need a reboot.

Congratulations....I agree with you. I would be nice if people would try to solve issues themselves before "angrily" blaming ASUS. If they did that, we'd have a much cleaner, more useful forum.

1. I'm running mostly stock since I bought the device. Yes, not even rooted. Not using any widget either.... And only using 1 page out of 5. Simply using GMAIL app as well with none being sync. Oh, and I manually update all of my apps from Play Store as well...
Since launch, I have installed exactly... 14 apps. Out of those 14, only 3 were added since .21 f/w update (they happen to be games... Dark Meadow, Sonic, Mass Effect). Out of those 14 apps, only 10 are still installed in my tablet (had to delete Google Chrome to increase browser performance).
I rarely play game on my tablet but this is an issue I recently found out as I wanted to play Sonic. Anyways, with this intro out of the way....
Based on my history, when it comes to gaming issue.... I mostly have problems on Tegra 3 optimized games. Games such as Shadowgun, Sonic, Riptide, Dark Meadow........ I actually haven't had any crash/reboot issue while playing Mass Effect.. yet. However, this is only "one" non-tegra 3 graphic intensive non-tegra 3 optimized games. So, it isn't enough of a "data" for me to say.... "hmm, maybe it is just tegra 3 games" yet.
Would be nice if people with no crashes at all could show us this kind of use feedback:
- Using ASUS Task manager widget in launcher --> YES / NO
- Using normal IMAP mail account --> YES / NO
- Using exchange account (Calendar, contacts....) --> YES / NO
- Using Battery Monitor Widget --> YES / NO
- Using System Tuner Pro --> YES / NO
- 2 pages totally empty in launcher (the rest with many widgets) --> How many pages are full for u ?? all ??...
People with crashes could also report the same... and of course please try to do the same and let us know if It fix crashes !
TY for all the feedback !

TY for the info !
This "solution" is to fix a little different problem. Is for people like me with crashes in ALL games randomly. ALL !
Of course we could find some games with real problems with prime. At this moment I have no crashes in any game ! Raptide, Sonic, Mass Effect, Dead Space, Dark Meadow, Gof 2, Shadowgun THD......
TY again !
The bottom line is a rewrite is in order to free up the bottlenecks in the T3. Something its very wrong when benches are awesome and real life performance is just so so.

Task killers could easily cause a system crash...
I don't have crashes, but do see Widgets take a long time to refresh occasionally.

the bottom line is not a blanket fix but rather a "if you have this, then do (or do not do) this." Sorry if you do not agree but my prime works great and yours "just so so" points to you using a software combination that proves unworkable.

as on every android rom i have ever run i agree widgets are the devil.
Mine is like that already, and I still get crashes with many apps and games.
Pretty much anything that uses a bit more memory and graphics.
Update: Even Market is crashing now... rebooted last night, did not use tablet at all till checking Market just now.
Sorry if this doesn't help for my is working incredible good !
Maybe the reason is a combination of SW... (for me was something of those things).
Anyway It is sad that after a lot of months ROMs are not stable enough... even stock one...
UI is also slow... at least slow considering we are speaking about a high end tablet.
Anyway I am happy... now and after various months... I can use my tablet !

Sounds like it's definitely a software issue, try going into settings/apps and clearing market data.
A lot of these sound like typical Android problems that any Android device sees along its lifespan.
OP, this thread was a great idea. I haven't had any crashes but I'm not a big gamer. I would be glad to use your example thread and do trial and error to see what useful data I can contribute to your thread.
Is this only for stock roms, or are custom roms allowed?
well removing the task manager didn't resolve games crashes. I went back to .21(I was previously on new firmware test build) to test this theory out. I'm not going to remove my email accounts. I really love the Asus battery widget but, I will remove it to try out also.
Removing task manager did seem to make things more stable aside from games though. I don't get that stupid message anymore saying task manager has stopped. plus I'm not busy killing stuff on the task manager that pops up. Actually ICS handles the memory manage very well. seems like I have more memory left vs. before when I had task manager up. ill just let android handle the tasks, which it seems to do a great job of.
ill remove battery widget now and see if that helps the gaming issue.
I WILL NOT REMOVE SYSTEM TUNER PRO THOUGH. lol. that app is too valuable and useful. I know that's not the reason. games crashed before I even got it.
All those widgets....
Sorry to disappoint, and please don't flame me but....
I'm running all those widgets with emails and doing heavy gaming and I have no crashes at all. I'm only reporting this cuz you asked someone who has no crashing to post their findings.
I run several Tegra 3 games and have actually never had a crash in 2 months I've had it, other than the obvious "Asus Task Manager quit unexpectidly..."
I've also hopped roms quite a bit. Ran Virtuous a lot simply for the full functionality during school. Then for the last two months, CM9 and AOKP are fully optimized for the most part and I've been back and forth.
And why you say no stable ROMS???? Completely incorrect. I can think of at least five.....
I have no idea of the hell you people are talking about,
First of all I on stock and not rooted, second I run all that stock crap(widgets, managers) + I have over 150 apps installed acording to the play store and I never had a crash unless it was the apps foult. From time to time when I check the memory usage with system panel it gets quite full, but I always seem to have atleast 100-200mb free ram left.I somehow don't play games much, but for example GTA runs like a charm for me. The only way I can make something crash is when I start switching apps like crazy(GTA,Skype,Chrome,Skype,Gta,Teamviewer ect.)
But talking off topic, is there anyway to say repair the glass? I have a nasty scrach on it that I just cant get my eyes off when the screen is off

My prime is not unlocked... I am speaking about ASUS ROMS.
I know there are many people with no problems but at the same time there are many people with problems... Now I am happy because for any reason my ROM is stable... But.... What a nightmare till this moment.... I was getting crashes with ICS all of the time since the first day (prime release in Spain)...
I don't use GPS, Wifi cannot be improved...so I just don't think about it... And I have no browser problems since I use dolphin (the best !) So... The only thing I miss now is a fluid launcher....I am just using 3 pages for widgets, and ui is so slow (more knowing this is a quad core...)... My Sensation moves ui far better... And a are speaking about a sense launcher !
TY all four the info.

Sorry to hear that... Seems each user (with problems) will need to discover it's own solution.
