Hello, I could swear I saw a thread about this a couple weeks ago, but after over an hour of Googling, here I am! The problem is, I set a custom wallpaper for the lockscreen, but when I wanted to remove it so I could see the homescreen wallpaper, I couldn't figure out how! I found via google that there should be an option in the "display" menu under settings, but there isn't!? I have been browsing around with root explorer trying to find where the system stores the wallpaper, but haven't found anything, other than the homescreen wallpaper under /data/data/com.android.settings/files/ or something like that. Any suggestions?
Was this the thread you were looking for?

Well, just tried clearing data, all it did was set the lockscreen wallpaper to the default samsung one (yellow with blue top). I even uninstalled it, still no luck. And by lockscreen I mean the one that shows up when you have no password. If you have a password the homescreen one shows up like I want, but I don't want a password!
Yeah, I'm in the same boat on this one. That other thread was mine. I never noticed that if you set it to a lock it shows the home wallpaper until you mentioned it.
Maybe you could try clearing the cache and data of twlauncher and see if that helps?

Already did, no luck.
How does one turn it back on the Galaxy S?
From what I have heard is that on most android devices there is an option in the display menu of settings, but there is no such option on the galaxy player! I have asked for a settings.apk on the gt-i9000 forum, but have yet to get a reply. I guess if we really want it off we may need to do a factory reset!

This will be implemented in the next version of Foreigner.

Oh, thank you! Unfortunately I have a 4.0, but perhaps the settings.apk for the 5.0 will work for the 4.0. Let us know how it turns out!
Solved!
Download widgetsoid (a great app, btw), make a new switcher in the new widget menu, go to "shortcut", click "application", check "all activities" and go down to and add "wallpapers". Save the widget, you now have a shortcut to access wallpaper (including lockscreen) settings!
Don't forget the thanks button!
Hi.can you explain how you did it?it is a little unclear.Thank you very much
First, do you have the widgetsoid application? If so, long press on your homescreen and press "add widget". Scroll down to widgetsoid switcher (any size will work). Now in the configuration menu, go to the "shortcut" menu, at the top there is an "applications" option, select it. A list of your applications should appear; press the menu button, there will be an option to "show more actions", select it. Now scroll down to the "Wallpapers" and select it. Apply your settings, then you should have a widget on your homescreen that is a shortcut to your wallpaper settings that were previously hidden.
They updated widgetsoid, so my previous post is outdated, btw.
I got it!Thank you very much.i hit the Thanks button
Confirmed working on the US 5.0. That app is very tasty indeed. Thank you very much.

Looking for that app that let me switch from adw launcher to the stock home .thank for any help. The icon for the app was the nook "n"
You mean HomeCatcher?
I use Home Manager as well- (from Market). Lets me switch back and forth between installed launchers and set any as default.
The more common Home Switcher didn't work for me- it just crashes when attempting to set a new default.
+1 for Home Manager . Works great.
I have a shortcut on the home screen of each launcher for it and it allows me to choose any launcher I desire, and still have my favorite as a default for Button Savior.
My N is still linked to the default B&N home screen, so I can show people just how limited it is.(And I use it for my books and Mags too
Yeah, I just use HomeCatcher. It does what it needs to, plus it was included in Indirect's root, haha.

This probably what you are looking for - NookHome.apk.
Thanks rete that was the apk i was looking for and everyone else for your quick replies
I use HomeCatcher. I got it from the market but there is a post somewhere along here that has the sideloading link.
Guess I am the only one that goes into the app manager and opens whatever launcher I have set as default and clear the default setting. Oh well, the only time I use anything different is when I am changing my wallpaper and need to use the nook default.

That works of course, but other tools do the same thing with fewer clicks.
Switching to default just to change a live wallpaper (only reason I ever use it), I simply put a shortcut to 'Home' on my desktop.
Why does it ALWAYS crop my wallpapers, even the factory ones too. I can't find a setting that will disable this and my wallpapers look like ****. Does same thing on aftermarket launchers too.
Some have had luck with certain wallpaper apps and launchers being used in conjunction. What works for me is using an app called "PicSpeed Wallpapers." Download it and then go into your gallery. Find a picture you want as your wallpaper-> menu> set as-> PicSpeed. Here you'll have an option to have it scrollable (doesn't work for me), vertical, or horizontal. Horizontal makes them look like "normal" again. Kind of an extra step but worth it. Hope this helps
My wallpapers look fine. You shouldn't have to use another app. There must be a setting somewhere. I don't think that is standard.
I seem to remember something coming up the first time I opened the wallpapers, but didn't read it and accidently clicked the "do not show me again" box. Any way to restore the wallpaper settings to stock?

OK, I think I figured this out. If you long press on the screen you can pick wallpapers and that is how I always have done it. Now the other way to set the wallpaper is to click the menu button (the physical button) then click wallpapers, then the type of wallpapers and when you select one it gives you the resize option. So play around with that and you should be good to go.

Do you have any other picture management apps installed?
Ive tried both ways and I always get the prompt to resize the wallpaper to the truncated version.
Ive also tried ADW launcher, quick pic, wallpaper wizardii. Nothing seems to work. No scroll. Very annoying.

My guess is that scrollable wallpapers lag this phone so bad that they just disabled it in the kernel. The GPU in this phone is way underpowered for the screen resolution.
adw launcher has always had this issue...had it with my streak as well. i talked to the adw dev about it and he was aware of the issue but couldn't fix it as he didn't have a test unit (and probably didnt want to be bothered with it). i assume other launchers would have similar issues (due to landscape transition sizing)
always used a live wallpaper or found a higher res patterned picture that could be cropped without too much pain.

I'm totally stock and rooted but I don't get the resize option on the screen long press way. Strange!!
No matter how I choose my wallpaper, it does this. If I choose a wallpaper I downloaded for 1280x800 sometimes the orange box is the size of the entire pic and it looks great. But it shouldn't do this with the stock wallpapers.
Something else, If I set the wallpaper during Go launcher and then switch to TW the wallpaper will resize itself and looks perfect.
Hey
I am using ADW EX with cm9. Everything is great but one thing is bothering me and I have not been able to find a solution. In landscape mode on the top of the screen is a bar with a menu button on the right. This just takes up space as I have a menu button on the bottom. Anyone know where I can go to remove this? I will attach a photo
Thanks!
Hmm ... I used to use ADW EX with CM9 and I don't recall that. Perhaps try turning off the persistent search (I think it's in CM settings).
Thanks will give that a try
Was not sure if it was a cm9 setting or something with ics's version of adw ex
Looks like that didn't fix it
The cm settings only change the cm launcher which is trebuchet, I am using adw ex.
I'll try installing ADW EX again tonight and giving it a try.

I'm not sure what that is. I don't see an option to remove it, and I don't really see any reference to it in the change notice. He has added some "unique" features in the past that he later gives options to disable (e.g. the "one dock to rule them all"), and I do see a couple of comments in the reviews about it. Perhaps there will be more functionality (and an option to disable) in a future update.
Hey thanks a ton for atleast helping me understand what's going on
The status bars appear to be locked in cm9, apart from removing the search setting and clock details. I haven't been able to get the bottom status bar to appear/disappear with an up or down swipe trying several launchers. Have to wait for an update or go searching for the status bar details in the programming. Not to fussed at the moment, just waiting eagerly for 3.0 kernel to get integrated.
Its specific to adw.
I've been using adw ex on my Xoom through Honeycomb roms and ICS roms and they've always been there. Its a bit redundant but..oh well.
Thanks..hopefully ads devs address this by giving us an option to shut it off
I wouldn't count on it. The app was last updated December 7th.
Hopefully apex or nova launcher will enable docks for tablets soon instead. The dock is the only reason I still use ads ex.

I use it because it let's me create icons that are shortcuts to each home screen. Those I can then edit with simple text app. Do you know of any other launchers that do this

Go to adw settings, UI Settings, Screen Preferences, Show desktop Indicator. Uncheck Show Desktop Indicator and it will disappear. If left on you can select what is shown and where. I leave mine off as I know which screen I am on.
Good Luck!
That's not the right thing. He's talking about the empty space with the menu button in it.

Which menu are trying to move icons around on? Or are you referring to the home screen or home launcher? If so, is it the launcher that comes with the phone or one you installed from an app store? What phone and what software update does it have? Did you root and install a custom recovery or just root only?

Try "Nova Launcher" if your device is Android 4.0+. Prime version is the launcher I#m using at the moment. Highy customizable and pretty fast

Well, when you have the Red X there and the icons move around, that is the uninstall app option. Should just be able to hit the back button to get out of that part. Make sure there isn't an option in the settings of the home screen that lock the desktop, which prevents moving of icons and widgets around. If you are trying to sort them a custom way in the actual app drawer, it's very likely that the stock Sony home launcher does not have this option. Like the other member mentioned, check out the Nova launcher, or the Apex Launcher. Both have free and paid versions with lots of ability to customize to your liking as well as running very smoothly on most devices.
my fault

Topic should be closed. I have solution. Simply - this file (probably with ending php) contains some infos, so the icons from menu were set in most used order. Sorry for my oversight. Dope with me
I'm currently on the latest nightly for cm12 (18th Feb) and I can't seem to find a setting to change the default launcher and I'm just stuck with trebuchet. On my nexus 5 there is a home setting under personalisation. Am I missing something or has this functionality not been implemented on the nexus 9 yet?

Hi, qwerty2626...
It shouldn't be too difficult to change the default launcher.... All you have to do is clear the default setting.
Go to SETTINGS>>APPS>>
** scroll horizontally to the ALL TAB
** scroll down to locate the TREBUCHET launcher
** tap on it to ENTER
** tap on the CLEAR DEFAULTS button
Press the HOME button, and you should be presented with a list of all your installed launchers.
Select the one you want to make the new default.
See attached screenshots, for an example of clearing Nova Launcher as the default launcher.
---
Or alternatively, install Default App Manager Lite, from Google PlayStore...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager
This app lists all of your app default settings, and provides an easy way of changing them.
Hope this helps.

Since when is Trebuncha(sp?) back? I litterly just left cm12 on the nexus 6 to try another rom and the only launcher that was installed on there before I put on nova as just the native launcher that motorola use. Its just called launcher.

Hi, the_rooter...
I have no idea if Trebuchet is back or not... I'm not running CM12... I was just giving some general guidance to the OP on how the default launcher can be changed. And since the OP mentioned Trebuchet, I just assumed it was still part of CM.

I dont think it is. Thats one of the main reasons I only test cm12 to see if they bring it back. Trebuchet has so many great features and now they use the launcher apk and its empty. Like we stated nothing that a custom launcher can do but still. Its sad to see that Trebuchet is not around.
Edit: Below is the article to state that it was in fact removed from cm12.

I've tried to do this and when I go into the app details there are no defaults on the launcher or at least None that can be cleared, even the app you posted can't do it either. I guess cyanogenmod did this on purpose for whatever reason so I guess I'll just have to wait and see if they implement a way to change it. As for trebuchet taking another look I don't think it is, just assumed it was after using cyanogenmod for so long!
