Just a curiosity... I have a S II originally from Bell (in QC, canada) on 2.3.3 now unlocked on Rogers and running CM 7.1 (on 2.3.7).
The original model number of my phone is GT-I9100M but after flashing CM 7.1 custom ROM, it is now showing as a GT-I9100. Does this change anything? What does the M stand for to start with?
Hey the M is just bell's way of making it their own once you flash a i9100 and unlock it their is no difference at all.

That's what I tought (and hoped!). Thanks for the quick reply!

This is an old one yet again see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179346
If you use the USB jig it will revert it back to showing the M, as long as you have flashed an older bootloader.
Deleted.
Sorry, posted in wrong thread.

I have just got a GT-I9100P on Orange UK which is Orange branded (coming from an SGS), and am not a stranger to flashing roms.
My question is, as the title suggests, has anyone managed to flash a stock, debranded samung ROM on a GT-I9100P?

You also keep using I9000 and I9100 interchangeably, what phone do you actually have? If you have an I9100 (not I9000 or I9100G) then you can find everything you need about flashing an ICS ROM in the stickies, specifically http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487

is your phone rooted?
I live in Israel and I want to flash official israeli ics rom to my galaxy s2 i9100 ....is it possible?
No. You would brick the phone.
Sent from my Galaxy S2 GT i9100
But there's no hardware differences between this versions as I know only different modems so the 3g would work normally...so why should this brick my phone?
Australian/Oceania variants
GT-I9100T
The GT-I9100T (sold by Vodafone Australia and Telstra, and some carriers around the world except Europe and the Americas) is virtually identical to the I9100 and is functionally equivalent. There are claims on the XDA-Developers forum that this variant there are some differences in software, giving slightly better performance in the 850 MHz WCDMA band.

Info taken from wiki. In theory seems yes, but you don't have to. Your phone will work with any ROM designed for i9100.
Sorry about the wrong info. :/

YES, it is possible.
Do the following when flashing such Roms:
1. Backup your present ROM just incase.
2. Do normal wiping necessary before just like you want to flash a new ROM (just ask for help if you don't know what I'm talking about)
3. Flash the ROM
4. Flash back your modem (also known as baseband version)
5. Flash an I9100 custom kernel e.g Siyah or speedmod (don't flash any CF-ROOT kernel)
6. Fix permissions (under advanced)
7. Reboot your device.
All should go on as expected
Good luck

Hello,
I used to have a Galaxy S2 International edition (GT-I9100). Somehow I managed to fried its CPU (!!!) and I needed to buy a new motherboard. The cheapest one (and also new) was from a shop in Canada.
They send me the new motherboard (fits and working just fine) but looking into the phone's "About Phone" menu it says that the "Model number" is GT-I9100M.
Here are the details:
Model number: GT-I9100M
Android version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I9100MUGKG2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100MUGKG2-CL371789 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
Because frying the CPU was totally my mistake (not reading the flashing instructions completely) I don't want to messed up the phone again!
And you can see the android version is pretty old!
What I want to know is if the available roms for GT-I9100 can be used for GT-I9100M.
Thank you for your time

The i9100M is just a Bell's variant of the i9100 (Canadian service provider). The only different is that the i9100M has a model name of i9100M instead of i9100. So I can imagine you can flash any i9100 ROM without a problem. After flashing an i9100 ROM, I'll assume your model number will change to i9100 (no big deal). By the way, all the information was on Wikipedia under SGS2 > Variants if you bothered to look.

Before posting here, I made a search and figured out that I9100M is a canadian version of I9100 but I just wanted to be sure that it will be safe to flash I9100 roms.
Thank you both for your replies!

There is a 2.3.4 stock rom for uk/ireland on sammobile.com. I'm pretty sure you can flash it no problem with odin. You won't be able to go to a custom rom afaik because of the different efs version
