Has anyone tried dual booting with their Photon?? I know its supported for Droid X and Evo and several popular phones but did not see the Photon on the list and wanted to know if anyone has tried or been successful with this because I personally think this feature would be really cool to have. I just want to know if anyone else has tried and had issues or anything before I jump off the deep end and manage to brick my phone or something. The app i saw that claimed to do this is "BootManager" and can be found in market.
This would be awesome if we could dual boot. cause having cm9 is great but no camera sucks and i would like to have the best of both worlds.

My sister just upgraded to a razr, so i snagged her x2. My daily driver is an inc2, but I thought this might be fun to play with. Is there anything that can actually be done to this? Doesn't seem like there are a lot of roms floating around for it. Am I stuck with motoblur? Is this destined to be an angry birds platform for my kids?
I don't need hand holding about how to mod, i'm running an early CM9 kang of ICS on my inc2, I would just like to know what the options are, what's recommended, or what should be shied away from. I've not used a motorola phone before, and know they're a bit tricky on the mod side.
I've tried liberty and eclipse on my gf's bionic. Both solid roms. Could probably theme them. The Cm7 looks like it might have a few glitches but maybe they aren't dealbreakers for u.

CM7 is a great daily driver for the X2

I have really not had any problems with the rom at all.

Eclipse is another great option. Receives support and has its own website http://www.eclipserom.com/.

Quite a few choices for our little "blessing" of a phone. As the others have mentioned, Eclipse and CM7 I'm pretty sure are the most current and popular right now. Ran them both, you can't go wrong either way.
Good place to start to see the options.

I neglected to add that you're not stuck with blur on CM7...all blur has been removed

Cm7 or eclipse. Just remember if you go to eclipse 2.0+ you will need to update to 2.3.5
Eclipserom.com for up to date info.
Cm7 is awesome no blur at all! Only problem is HDMI is not supported.
If you want to try both on the same kernal for 2.3.4 then use eclipse 1.3 very stable and solid.
i'm very familiar with CM7. I ran that up until a week ago. Just wasn't sure it was where it was at on this phone.
CM7 for the most part is fine on this phone. I'm using it now. Biggest problem with the rom is that some have wifi issues. I do at times. For some reason it loses it's connection with the router and can't get reconnected. Some just have to turn off wifi and turn it back on to get it working again. That doesn't seem to work for me. I have better luck just going into wifi settings and clicking on the wifi connection I want. Seems to connect then. Also, from time to time apps that require root access have trouble. Sometimes when I open an app, it just shows a blank window while it waits for root access. It can be fixed by rebooting but I just press the home button, then open the superuser app and remove the problem program. Then open the program again and after allowing root access, it works fine again. Those are the only real problems I have with the rom. For me, they aren't deal breakers. I can live with them.
Otherwise, like others have said, Eclipse is a good rom. However, I myself prefer Liberty. I don't know why everybody seems to bypass it as a suggestion. When it first came out, everybody was all bent out of shape about it and what a great rom it was. Now, nobody mentions it. My guess is because there hasn't been any updates to it since it first came out. However, I myself don't really see why anybody would want any updates. It ran perfect for me. Not one ounce of trouble from it no matter what I did. I still jump back to it now. Just for a change of pace.
I haven't tried MIUI. From what I've seen, too many issues that I don't want to deal with. I could be wrong about it though, as, like I said, I haven't tried it.
Just my two cents worth.

SMILE It's Not Illegal Yet
After many months of a friendly rivalry, a coworker and I have decided to swap phones for a week. (We're both on AT&T, so I assume we can just switch sim cards?)
If it were you, what ROM would you put on the phone to allow for the best experience for someone who has never used android before?
I was thinking CM9, but since it has problems with certain games (Temple Run comes to mind, which we both play all the time), that's probably not a good idea. Moreover, the in-call echo would probably leave a bad impression. Then again, I guess I could flash some other modems on my own and see if that solves it.
So, in your opinion: which rom best shows off the advantages of Android compared to iOS?

ICS of some sort without a doubt... Maybe XWLP7?
Perhaps set it up to be Nandroidable between CM9 and a TW ICS firmware - "Here's the way it comes from Samsung, it's almost all working but there are Samsungisms people don't like - and here's CM9 - it's still in development but it's a mostly pure Android 4.0 experience".
How are you guys going to work out the sim/microsim difference?
I wonder if it would work to just swap phones as is, then forward each phone number to the other number.
iPhones use microsim. Completely forgot. Hmm.... I guess that throws a bit of a wrench into our plans.
My wife uses a 4S and I just bought my Galaxy last week. Right now I am using tasks AOKP ICS, but I have to say:
So far i like the UCPLC5 Official ATT "Leak". It has ICS, and the Samsung stuff, and its quite nice. It just feels like more of a polished product than the stock android. If its a real rivalry, don't forget about the brands. I also have a samsung point and shoot camera, and lcd tv, laptop, toaster and ... blah blah...
Have had no issues with games with that rom, only my Amiga emulator. Temple Run, shadowgun, angry birds space, all work great.

SHOstock2 v1.3
Interesting question!
Just don't put MIUI on it. It will confirm any suspicions he may already have that Android is an iOS wannabe.
You can get a microSIM adapter for about $5, or make a DIY adapter that should last a week. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJFPh2oc8hM)
EDIT: Entropy's idea is a good one. Being able to swap via nandroid is in itself a great thing to show off!
There's also a dual boot kernel

Dual boot and nandroid backup might not be such a good idea, just saying. I would think twice about letting your coworker, who own an iPhone, mess around in cwm. Nothing against iPhone users.

That's highly experimental.
+1 for SHOstock. Shoman just posted v2, with lots of improvements.
Depending on the user I would also hesitate going overboard with dual boot stuff. Its really cool feature to have but might be too much for someone's first android experience.
AOKP is really nice too, but I feel there are a few visual inconsistencies that may make it feel incomplete to an outsider. Like the progress bars, the best off hand example is CPU Spy. I think SHOstock gives the best of both. You get the good things about TW and shoman has done a great job themeing it. The one thing isn't intuitive to a first timer is the quick panel settings. You may want to set that up first, or at least make an effort to show your friend what it is referring to.
I'd be instested to hear the results of the swap.

I haven't seen problems with it. Have it set up with CM9 as primary and LC5 as secondary.

Hello. So, I'm running Harmonia on my Evo V 4G, but been wanting something non-sense ever since I got my phone in December. What keeps me back is full features. Do I use 3D? Never. I guess I would just like to have the option there just in case. Out of curiosity, why can't anyone get 3D working with non-sense custom ROMS?
I would also love to hear anyone's opinion on what ROMS they currently love, and why (particularly anything non-sense).
And, has anyone had any issues with their battery life after having their phone a few months? I'm currently troubleshooting my phone, trying to figure out why it's consuming battery life at a faster rate than I normally experience. I haven't changed anything on my phone, just let whichever apps automatically update do their thing. Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with their phone?
Thanks.
I've been having problems with multitasking and keyboard not appearing right away or disappearing quickly. Also apps like Avast, Screeble keep closing when there are supposed to be running all the time. I know the Evo has problems with multitasking but this happened with all the roms I've tried including CM. I've even used the white list thing with MeanBean and that didn't help either. Just curios if it's just me or anyone else having the same issue. I'm regretting buying the Evo LTE, the OG Evo was amazing. This one just seems to be a piece of crap. Does anyone have an opinion on this before I abandon HTC for good?
I noticed same behavior. I figured it was an HTC/sense issue, but after going to AOSP ROMs (almost immediately after purchase) and still seeing really aggressive task killing, (not as bad as sense), I really started to wonder if it's somehow processor related. That said, the sense 5 port seems to handle multitasking better than any ROM I've used (most of them here).

Good to know I'm not the only one having problems with that. At one point I thought there was something wrong with my phone. I'm just gonna sell it and go with Samsung.
Hello all! I have recently begun to wind down with a ROM I had recently flashed so I decided to make it more homey. So, after downloading an app called "Pou", the app ran extremely slow but lag really only persists when you aren't playing a mini-game. I don't know how else to describe it, but I would recommend downloading this yourselves to see since the app is free of charge. My Droid X running Gingerbread and obviously not nearly as strong as the Rezound doesn't lag at all, so I want to know why it is lagging on this phone. I have tried this on multiple ROMs but this app does not run well on any of them, including stock. Maybe the developer never officially supported this phone, or the Rezound lacks something most other phones seem to have in terms of graphical performance. If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.
