CLOCK does not work in alpha 0.6. - TouchPad General

Clock is a big headache to me after updating to ALPHA 0.6.
1. It's always set to year 2008 and random time once I check the "automatic date and time".
2. I can set the date and time if I uncheck "automatic date and time". But the clock will not update at all. I does update once if I put it on or take it off from touchstone. I always use my touchpad as nightstand clock and now it always shows the moment I leave it on touchstone. The touchstone does charge well.
Any help is appreciated.

(S2U2 v0.99c) + (Alarm Program) = Alarm Does NOT Wake Me Up

Could anybody give me some advice on how to get it to work??
I have installed SPB Time v2.2.2. My S2U2 is set to turn on as soon as screen goes blank.
I have noticed that S2U2 will cause my alarm with SPB Time not to activate in the morning. When I finally do touch screen to check time, then my alarm goes off like I woke it up from S2U2 screensaver.
Any recommendation or workarounds??
Just dont go to sleep. Keep your eyes open and wait to see the alarm popup. That always work.
ive never had a problem with S2U2 and SPB time,
however i had a problem with SPB Time not bring the phone out of sleep mode
the thing i noticed is that when i bring the phone out of sleep the time is usually 20-30 minutes behind, and it jumps up to the current time, i figure maybe the phone just doesnt keep real time in sleep mode, so that causes it to miss the alarms
for the alarm clock, i just keep it from going to sleep mode when on external power, and keep i plugged in overnight

Yes I've noticed that too about the real time. I guess thats an option...keep it plugged in and make sure option of sleep mode is disabled.
Are you using at least the 2.17 ROM? Not waking up for alarms was one of the fixes in that version.
I also have this problem with the leaked ROMs. I am also using SPB Time I just went back to my regular alarm clock on the night stand till a fix comes out. Only thing is this beta ROM was compiled before the fixes into the the roms were made that fixed the alarm problems. So the alarm problem still exists in this version. Just a guess but I hope the official release fixes the alarm wake up problem.
2.17 was out quite a while before 3.16. The wake up issue was fixed in 2.17 and remains fixed in 3.16.

I have dcd's titan rom 2.2.3

Running Condemned V10 Stripped, phone doesn't sleep automatically

I'm not sure if this is an ADW launcher thing or something with the rom, but I just did a full wipe on Sunday because of a reboot issue when using the gps on GSB 3.5 and I decided to install Condemned V10 Stripped and give it a shot.
So far so good, I'm really liking the rom, but my phone doesn't go to sleep unless I hit the End button and cut off the tv screen. Is that the expected behavior with ADW (or this rom), or a glitch? Has anyone else experienced this? Under the Settings menu, it is set to sleep after 1 minute, but the screen just dims some, doesn't go totally dark.
Thanks.
Nope - I'm not experiencing it at all and I've been on this ROM for a week now, after switching from the odexed GSB V3.5. Mine is timing out & going to the blank screen after a minute - don't see ADW being a problem either as I've used it with other Eris ROM.
You did do a full SD card reformat, delete the android folder with USB enabled in recovery mode, and did cache/dalvik wipe, etc. flashing this ROM & also reflashed Gapps (I used the March 2011 GB version.)
Have you look at your CM settings? Auto Brightest On or Off?
Perhaps you want to reflash CM Rom again (just do a cache/dalvik wipe only) to see if it will help.
Auto Brightness is set to On. I didn't do a full wipe of the SD card, just the phone. I can try a dalvik wipe/reflash tonight to see if that helps before wiping the sd card and the android folder.
Thanks.

Try checking in Settings>CM Settings>Lockscreen>Timeout and delay and make sure they aren't set to a long period of time. Maybe also try out of curiosity if that doesn't help... Turn off the screen of animation in CM Settings as well. Maybe that's causing a hiccup or something. I've never had a problem with the phone not going to sleep.
Thanks for the tips, guys. I reblasted with V10 (decided to do full version instead of stripped) after a dalvik wipe, and everything went well. Phone goes to sleep fine now, except for text messages from work during the night (which unfortunately isn't something that will ever totally go away while I work in IT).

- Great, sounds (looking) good then.
Just in case you haven't set it - for late night beeps & flashing LED, go to Settings > CM >Sound - - - set "Enable quiet hours" to mute so that no sounds will be played, disable vibrations & dim LED brightness. That should help during regular periods of DND (do not disturb) as it is for me w. multiple mail accounts merged & pulled by Google mail - then pushed. Pop3 mail not a problem - don't get or use SMS much on mine so it's not an issue & I don't enable my twitter feeds unless I need to.
(LOL, if I can only "teach" my alpha-numeric pager to do the same, I would not jumping out of bed at 4 am or what not but that's a different story in & of itself.)
Off topic: just in case, CS is reading the post again, this latest vanilla/full ROM is really rocking & rolling - I haven't seen a repeat of the phone not charging - out on assignment Tuesday evening & had NAV-Car Mode on for 2 hours and no FC, etc. Low-power USB charging/generic mini-usb cable and/or home charger (generic/Moto, etc.) putting out only 500 or 600 maH while plugged in seemed to be the culprit in failing to even trickle charge the Eris & draining it fast. It's getting kind of quiet & no news or bugs popping up lately over at the main thread in the developer's subforum .... Overall, it's a job well done - thanks !!

Glad everything is straightened out now
Thanks for the feedback on v10 as well. I'm testing 11 as we speak. So far so good. Should be posting it later tonight

incorrect timezone

I'm having a very odd problem with my 3D and timezones. If I flash a deodexed ROM my timezone become screwed up. The HTC weather/clock widget will think my "home" is in Arizona (world clock displays this) and it will also show my current location - Sioux Falls. It will display the time as being 2 hours behind. If I change it by hand in date/time settings by turning off auto and changing it from MT. time to Central (I'm in Central BTW) the clock on the menu bar will correct itself, but the widget is still wrong.
Other times, the widget's world clock will show the correct "Central Time" time for my home, but again my location in Sioux Falls will be 2 hours behind and my phone reports it as Mountain Time.
Is there some type of rogue file somewhere that is affecting deodexed ROMs on my phone? I've wiped plenty of times before flashing and I know it's not that issue because if I flash back to an odex ROM all my timezone issues are no longer there.
I've even booted the phone with no SD card and the issue remains..

Tasker - scheduled task = battery drain?

So I have set up Tasker to toggle my data every 5 minutes while the screen is off. Seems to be working great so far - I have it set so that it bleeps every time the task is run (for debugging purposes), and when I sent myself a Google Voice text it came through after the data was toggled back on. So far so good.
The profile I have set up for this just runs a toggle task every 5 minutes on a schedule. What exactly is happening here? I assume it is waking my phone every 5 minutes to do this... I've set this up to hopefully conserve some battery (my ghetto version of Juice Defender), but, since this is running on a schedule, will it end up eating up more battery than it conserves?

5 non-root Must Haves from one (3 dollar) app

The app is setedit and you'll need to hand over almost $3 Canadian if you want these tweaks. 1 of them will work for sure without needing to enforce but I think it's a sweet deal and 3 of these are working on Pie. 2 of them, or even 1 is worth the price.
You'll need to go into a shell and enter exactly:
pm grant by4a.setedit22 android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
Copy and paste it. If you don't know how to do that just look up ADB, android developer options, and Samsung USB drivers.
First the freebie. Go into Secure Table and click +add new setting (your first entry may ask you to grant a permission. DO IT)! enter: clock_seconds value: 1 BOOM! Hope you like it because it'll NEVER go away! Just kidding. If you factory reset... or simply enter a value of 0 you'll be rid of the ticker.
Next up I think is a freebie, too. Still in Secure Table, scroll down to sysui_qs_tiles delete everything. NO DON'T! Carefully, without erasing the entire list, add in MobileData exactly like that. So actually it'll be a comma first. Have a look around for other tiles because 'ol Sammy likes to keep things real tight with the carriers. You can also remove some but I think it's best to not potentially freezing your phone up.
Now, pretty sure these ones will need the guardian to stick so if you can manage 3 bucks it'll be worth it, especially the last 2!
Change tile rows and columns.
Right above the tile edit in Secure Table is sysui_qqs_count I like a value of 7. Don't go too small or too high. Or do it and see what happens. Please don't. I can only vouch for 7 and 8. I have heard of 3 but never tried it. This changes the first row, first pull on notification menu.
Now to change the rows, the long pull I guess you can call it, qs_tile_row in Secure Table still. I do 4. I heard if you enter in 50 you get a widescreen TV. No idea. I only tried 4.
Screen Timeout not long enough?
While some of you may not need it, I need more than 10 minutes. Head to System Table and... not sure why, but I think this needs both screen_off_timeout_rollback AND screen_off_timeout to work. I set mine to 1800000 (yes 5 zeroes) to get 30 minutes. Do it on both. Double that, 3600000 will give you an hour. So if you want 13 minutes and 27 seconds, figure it out. I think entering a value of 1 will get you a free trip to the ODIN app. Don't know what that is? You'll find out pretty quick if you screw this one up. Of course you're gonna head to the menu and look to see a new entry of 18 minutes and 55 seconds. Not happening. What you will see is that no selection is made. DON'T TOUCH IT! Just leave it alone. It's working. This one works in Pie. Only one setting is needed. Can't remember but you'll find it.
These 2 are the bestest and they work in Pie.
Goodbye HIGH BRIGHTNESS and HEADPHONE VOLUME warning!
In Global System set audio_safe_volume_state to a value of 2. "But mine's already at 2." So then you've been warned. Now add it to the guardian.
In System Table, you'll want to alter a value of 1 in the shown_max_brightness_dialog "But I don't have that entry." So close the app, crank up the brightness and be told how evil it is. Wasn't that fun? Now fix up the entry. Add it to the guardian with the 1 value and if set to 0 don't forget to change to 1
*NOTE* most of these values take about 15-45 seconds to kick in after every reboot. So, before you reboot and say it doesn't work, well, you're kinda right. But you'll soon forget about it and one day be able to reboot without seeing if it works or not. Finally, one day, you'll go to turn up the brightness, or volume, and that warning will not appear. And THAT'S when the real joy is felt. As you're cranking up that slider, in all of .02876 seconds, you're going to think, "Stupid warning" "OMG I am not gonna get a warning" "Hey cool I didn't get the warning. Anyone see that?"
Bonus Feature! When bored I random;y change values of random entries. See how fast you can screw yours up! Don't play with anything unless it's your friend's phone. We're not friends.
I can't vouch this works on any other device except A8. It's a representation of what's on your phone. Adding a custom ROM will change the output and results. Use your noggin, yo
Finally, I turned off battery optimization for the app and feature pack, and turned off notifications. It works fine. No usage pops up because it's very small and no problems with enforcing the edits. No annoying notification required.
mindlery,
I'm doing an article about Drone flight and high NITS display devices. A tablet or phablet that can display the sun equivalent brightness is very expensive so most pilots use cell phones. Of these cell phones samsung and lg both have models that will BOOST brightness (manually at least on the lg G7) but it will only boost for up to 3 minutes. one might think its' a heat issue but the timer is probably a battery saver because when flying I keep resetting my boosted brightness on the Lg-G7 and the phone never gets warm.
So you appear t6o have knowledge on this and there may be an opportunity to help a bunch of pilots if a boost timeout can be changed (easily via app or some easy method) to fix the boosted time to about 30 minutes or make it a manual switch.
If you are at all interested, I'm going to do an article and video for other pilots on this if I can get a solution down.
