This is something that I totally agree with and is my only complaint with the phone. Mine was the same way from day one. It's just a design flaw....a bad one at that. Button feels "spongy" and have to usually use a fingernail to push it just right. learned to live with it though.

Any way to freaking use the camera button to unlock?

if you break it, which from seeing your posts here in this thread you are likely to do so, i'm sorry to hear that.

Seriously, if you have problems with the power button to where you need to use a fingernail to push it just right, take it into a Sprint store and either have it fixed or replaced. I've had mine since day one and have never had issues with the power button. Sticks out just far enough, and has a light "click" feeling when I press it. If yours is spongy and not working, get it fixed.

I have never had this issue with mine. I imagine Sprint could fix it. However, if you go with a custom ROM there are ways to use the volume buttons to wake. Joelz ICS has this option built-in.

Also, I use lockscreen widget to turn the screen off. Free app in the market.

I like mine works great I like how they did it this round. I was always afraid of breakin them on the EVO cause after alot of use they would squeek..
On the evo 3d no issues with mine

Go to a Sprint store and ask for a new cover. The power\volume buttons are on the battery cover not the actual phone.
Well, technically it's all a part of the actual phone, but you know what I mean.

Try taking the back off and put it back on top side first. Like others have said, it's just poorly designed.
I had mine get stuck when I first got it because of that.

Haha, yeah if its really hindering use take it in or call asurion... Mines worked just as well as the og EVO, not a real satisfying click, but it works nonetheless... Plus my acase really makes the buttons like 10x better imo.

damn you!!!!! I was gunna say that.

Get a replacement back cover or use a rom with volume wake. Also use screen off and lock, free from the market to turn off the screen by pressing the screen and not smashing your button all day long.

You might have better luck at http://www.htc.com/us/support/hotline instead of on a developer forum.
Alternatively you could try http://community.htc.com/na/htc-forums/f/default.aspx?tab=support

Shutter Delay

Hi, does anyone know if the EVO 3D will incorporate the no shutter lag that I just notice the HTC Sensation has?
hopefully they do, I've never heard any mention of it being on the e3d though.

Does nothing for me. I've tried every possible setting and shutter lag is still a minimum of a full second, sometimes more. If you use the camera button to half-press, as long as it isn't using flash it should be nearly instantaneous. They really need to fix this.

I turned off the review and auto enhance, worked. Also, tapping the screen seems faster than pushing the button.
two things: one is focus delay, one is shutter delay.
there is very little shutter delay when you actually depress fully. for me with auto-enhance and autofocus and shutter sound off, either using on-screen capture button OR using a full press of hardware button is ~1/3 of a second. not bad. I have tried with review and without, and have noticed no difference in the time it takes to capture the pic.
focus delay, on the other hand, is terrible using the hardware button. takes about 0.5 to 0.66 seconds for the focus square to even pop up, then it focuses. using tap screen method, green focus square pops up immediately on tap, then it focuses. same settings as above.
I have started using tap screen focus, touch screen button to capture to take pics. you can take non-focus pics pretty quickly just by fully pressing the camera button (just the 1/3 sec delay), but you get less shake using the on-screen button and same speed. so I've abandoned the camera hardware button altogether.

[Q] Home button coming lose. [SGS2]

Hi guys,
I've noticed over the past few weeks that the hard button (home button) has been coming a bit lose on the right side.
It tends to make a squeaking sound when touched lightly however the button functions at 100%.
Anyone else notice the home button loosening a bit?
Some GS2s have firm and some have loose home button, so no need to panic as long as it works.
Apply a little pressure to the right side of the button. Does it eventually click in place? So that you no more have a loose button?

Would it be something underneath, the creaking sound its really pissing me off.

i feel like i got the same thing on my s2
the button is not loose but it moves in place; hardly distinguishable though unless you use a magnifying glass
many reported having light leaking on the sides of the button, i don't have that,
i don't know if i should be happy or
phone is overall fine, its the closest you can get to perfect, with the exception of some varying degree of yellow tint, which i know will be resolved when the official 2.3.4/.5 rom release in my region.
other than that, handle with care, lol.
is it normal for there to be some flexibility when touching the home button, or is the home button suppose to stay in one place? I noticed that the home button moves around its housing a bit (i dont know if this is the right word to use)
if you get too picky about it you can sometimes hear a a minuscule squeak, but when pressing from an extreme corner.
let me know
I had this also but I was able to snap it back...

Anyone hate how the volume buttons are placed?

I just don't like the design.. if you slide your finger gently across them you can feel them creaking. 0.0

I hate the volume buttons, too, but for a different reason. Being that they are directly opposite the power button I often find myself raising or lowering the volume when I am trying to press the power button (to wake the phone) with one hand. Having a TPU case on the phone makes it worse because it takes a little more effort to press the power button. I have to be very deliberate with my finger placement in order not to activate the volume buttons. It's a small gripe considering how great the phone is, but he asked.

I have a TC tpu case that has a cut-out for the power button, but covers the volume buttons, making power easier to find in the dark, and volume buttons slightly harder to press. Solves that problem for me.

I don't like the hard button either but like has been said I just ignore it. Actually I pretty much also ignore the capacitive buttons. I use LMT on the right side of my screen, and use other screen based shortcuts. Now the buttons on the bottom seem like a long way to reach. This makes my note 2 interface more consistent with my N7 and Droid Charge. Which otherwise is very frustrating to switch back and forth between them.

But as others said... ignore the button or get the stickers/covers for the button.

If you want to get crazy, you could open it up and replace the home button with the international home button or you could go the easy route and just get a sticker.

LMT is basically PIE controls. No flashing necessary, just download apk and install.
The spiegen aluminum sticker works fine for me. Ten bucks and u get 3 different colors. Doesn't feel cheap, like I thought it would.
Least headache way would cost you about 235-250. You just need to buy the sprint front screen and digitizer assembly. Then remove the old. Assembly and move the motherboard onto the new one and put it back together. The sprint and verizon are compatible. Other types att t mobile will not work.
I would not reccomend sperating the digitizer from the screen because of all the issues u could run into like dust adhesive alignment etc.
Its not that difficult to do it on the note 2.
There are a buncha youtube videos on the process
Im running logo free myself
Vinyl button cover, .95 cents plus .55 cents for shipping for a set of 6 at NCVinyl.
