I tried to Wanamlite v6.7 and v7.8 and come back on Stoct backup and alweys got message "process com.android.mms has stopped unexpectedly" when send or recive MMS. I tried on stock Message.apk and GoSMS, result is the same. I do not know what more to do, I'm really desperate. I've already tried Clear message app data and nothing. Please, please help.
I have the same problem after coming back from an ICS ROM. I've cleared dalvik cache but no fix. Might try to reflash.

Reflash with Wanamlite or something different.
A search would tell you to go to the message centre and enter correct details for your network .

I solve this problem.
In APN settings for Internet access in my case for APN TYPE -> internet + mms.
When I changed to internet only, everythig is working fine.
Thank you all.

I'm running the latest CM9 beta along with the APN Fix.
I'm able to send mms messages fine, but whenever I receive one (like an image text), it prompts me to download the image instead of doing it automatically. Furthermore, when I try to download the image in the stock messaging app, it doesn't work. I then installed GO SMS, which does allow me to download the image (most of the time), but I'm still prompted to download it instead of it downloading automatically. This happens on both wifi and 3G.
What I've tried (with reboots after changing settings):
I've double and triple checked the APN settings and have even restored my APNs to default and then re-entered them.
I've also tried playing with different APN settings than whats in the fix.
I've toggled the auto-retrieve setting in the stock messaging app on and off.
I tried installing the black-themed mms app.
I've cleared app data on the stock messaging app and GO SMS
I've attempted to fix permissions, wipe dalvik, and wipe cache
I checked the mms size limits inside GO SMS settings
All of the above was unsuccessful. Each mms I receive still prompts me to download the image. When I click download it doesn't always work in GO SMS and doesn't work at all in the stock messaging app.
At this point, I think I'm going to wait until Joker releases a new build and see if that magically fixes it. If not, I'll probably have to wipe and do a clean install. I did a wipe between the last alpha and first beta build but have just been wiping dalvik/cache between beta builds.
Anyone have any other ideas / suggestions?
Thanks!
Try just using the first APN and deleting the other 2. That's all I've done and I can send and receive mms just fine using the stock app.

Thanks for the response... Just tried deleting the 'Production' and 'Internet' APNs and only leaving the CDMA one (the first one) and then rebooting. I'm still able to send mms but again when I receive one, it prompts me to download instead of just displaying the image automatically in the messaging app.
I feel like it has to be either a problem connecting / downloading from the mms service or there's just some setting somewhere that's causing it to prompt me to download before retrieving.
I also tried setting the APN Type to 'MMS' instead of 'mms', which allows me to click a little blue dot next to the APN... tho I'm not sure what that does (makes it the default?). However, when I did that, I lost the ability to send MMS, so I set it back to 'mms'.
I wasn't able to fix this issue without doing a clean install (wipe / etc). I ended up flashing the latest CM9 build (3.1) on top of the 0.2 build and the issue persisted. I then did a clean install of 3.1 and the issue is resolved. Images received via mms now automatically appear in my messaging app without prompting me to download manually.

I tried flashing ROM and kernel again but the problem still persists. I am able to receive sms messages but cannot send.
Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

same error on 4.2.2
I have the same error. I noticed this once going to a 4.2.2 Revolt from Jelly verse. I then had baked.... Cm10 .all 4.2.2. Roms are giving me this grief. I've done everything from switching out 'bad' MMS.apk files.. Restoring APN backups with new .XML files for new APN.. Flashing over MMS fix.zip.. I've done it all and still no fix. Even downloaded goSMS and Handsceng SMs.. Applied the segtings aNd no fix. downgraded to Jelly verse... Magic.. Full MMS abilities. But.. I've had a taste of 4.2.2 and would rather dealwwith the pros until hopefully someone finds a fix for this small, yet annoying bug.
Thanks to everyone who already had put their effort into correcting this .

So I went back to Jelly verse (4.1.2) for the sole purpose of pulling the APN XML file while MMS worked. To my surprise.. The backup APN ( using the APN Backup and Restore program mentioned in many MMS fixes) compiled a list of 1346 apns. Saved it to my SD Card. At first.. It seemed promising as I upgraded back to slimbean(any 4.2.2 build for that matter) and downloaded APN B&R .. Gave it system permissions via /system/apps program.. Backed up APNs.. And laughed at the list of 8 APNs it had backed up. nonetheless.. I moved my XML from the 4.1.2 build to the APN folder created from the backup process. Went back to APN B&R and deleted APNs as many times before.. And restored APNs via XML document from 4.1.2 build with 1346 APNs. Rebooted.. Nothing... Flashed MMS fix.zip as stated from various different resources in trying to remedy this error. .. Nothing....

As relevent and/or helpful as that might be as far as a universal diagnosis is concerned, rather than user-to-user, phone-to-phone ,ROM to ROM and carrier to carrier... Whilein jjelly verse I did get prompted to update Samsung software. Considering all failed attempts I went ahead and accepted the Samsung update. Given from my post above.. Obviously this doesn't have any merit towards fixing the issue.... As I'm still not getting MMS data transfer via 4.2.2 ROM.
Any and all info on things I've done I just want to document if it means the betterment of finding and identifying this as a ROM/carrier/phone issue. If not all 3 or just a combination of the 2. Or maybe even a variable and/or file overlooked this entire time.

I'm having this problem on incoming calls, just from certain contacts. Other contacts get through ok.
What happens is that the phone displays the message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped", and I don't see who called and not a missed call. Sometimes even the error message closes by itself before I see it, so I don't know that there was a call.
To fix, I tried to wipe all data+cache+dalvik ache, didn't help. I reflashed a different rom, didn't help.
Recently I've synced my contacts to facebook with the Sync.ME app, and I suspect it might be the cause.
Any ideas on how I get my incoming calls work again?
First do a fullwipe again.
Then directly test it (not flash of another kernel or restore of any apps! )
Choose any Rom which should work for u.
Test it.
If anyway have problems, u should go back on a stock firmware and do a factory reset then.
Then test.
Uf this works now - root and flash Rom
again
Otherwise it's hardware (don't think so) or maybe account/Google related.
Much success and play give a short feedback.

Thanks,
Any way to debug the problem?
Kinda tired of all the wipes/restores...
I will try to connect to LogCat via ADB and see if there's something suspicious.
Please tell me if you think of other ways to debug this.
U can try to fix permissions via CWM
And also u can try to replace the phone.apk from another one.
But because u already did a fullwipe, I think this won't help, that's why I gave u this recommendations .

yee-hah!!
problem fixed
This was caused by an old backup using BackMyTones, where the contacts weren't in sync with the ones existing in the google database (and phone).
Tried many things (like full wipe and one-by-one app installation like you suggested), but what I could have done to avoid a full wipe was detaching the google account to erase all contacts, then reattach it. This fixed things.
Thanks for the help!
Nice to hear.

Hi, michaelitvin, I face the same problem. I deleted my google account and sign in again, but still no good.
When one of my contacts call me, it still shows "Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped".
Thanks for any advice!

I installed this rom cm-11-20140925-NIGHTLY-n7100.zip on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100
In the beginning, I can send SMS, but after a few hours, I was unable to send SMS.
I checked all over Google with regards to this issue and it all points to me disabling the Voice+ in the Settings (Settings > More... > Voice+)
Problem is I don't have that option in the "More.." portion.
So I tried to disable via Settings > Apps > All > Voice+ > Force Stop, still doesn't work.
Rebooted, force stop Voice+, then tried again, still failing.
When I check the Phone Information in *#*#4636#*#*, SMSC is blank.
Badly need help on this one, as this is my first time doing this mod thing and now I'm stumped. Awesome mod, but buggy. I don't want to go back to the old Samsung mod.

Thanks, I tried doing other SMS apps like Go SMS, and it works with a turn around of changing the SMSC number on the app. But if I didn't do it, even the SMS apps don't work.
But is there a way to use the stock messaging without going back to the stock rom of this phone?
I've been doing a wipe of everything and reinstall of everything and still I can't send SMS. Baaaah!
Going to try and install the stock rom of Galaxy Note 2 for one last try. If it works, then I guess mod is not for me. :crying:
