looking for suggestions on a new rom to flash - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ive been on homebase for a while now and pretty happy with it but i want to try a newer rom that is being supported and update. my requirements are webtop, car dock, hdmi dock and fingerprint scanner are included.

GingerMod or Wet Dream
There's also Darkside but I believe the dev on that one is finishing up support on it

I tried Wet dream, dark side and both works great...
I'm waiting for Dev to finish with cm9 and i'm flashing right away..

the only thing stopping me from flashing cm7 or 9 is that webtop is not supported it.

Pretty much. Darkside is actually 2.3.5

Using Neutrino 2.2 - the best
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

For gingerbread i think darkside (or wet dream) are the best. All stock functions work, as well as landscape hdmi mirroring which are important for me.
However jokersax's cm9 ics build is almost at the point where you can run it as a daily driver. Looks like almost everything will be fixed in the coming week or few

i did try gingermod, which was good except i couldnt get webtop to work on my lapdock. thats a deal breaker for me.

Wet dream is awesome for everything working. Its a must try.

Neutrino 2.2
out of all the roms i have flashed on my atrix 4g ( over 10) i prefer Neutrino and Darkside, but neutrino the most, its both super smooth, lite and powerful, im using the 2.2GT with 1.77.33 baseband and faux 1.3Ghz OC kernal

1. You will have to go Full blur to get everything (car) working.
There is a Script to go full blur or you can add the needed apk's from the script directly in the rom zip (i prefer the second way)
2. Don't think webtop is working on neutrino because it is a stripped down CM7

i just flashed the light version, and all the docks do work. it still has some blur but you dont have to use any of its features. wetdream looks good so far it might be a keeper.

[Q] best Atrix custom Rom that supports webtop

I have been playing around with a lot of custom roms. I probably liked MIUI or CM7 nightlies the best but neither of them supported webtop. I went back to Aura to get a web2sd running XFCE4 for me. THe problem is that the last Aura rom runs 2.3.4 and after using CM7 this seems painfully outdated. Any suggestions for the best of both worlds?
no solution...you'll have to compromise

Gingermod, epsilon or nottachtrix
Hello, I had been using Gingermod for a while and it's based on 2.3.6 the only thing that I modified is the kernel using faux's kernel!
I'll give gingermod a shot.
Ubuntu was an OK solution. It was a bit laggy and annoying to use. I couldn't get web2sd to work on noattach and my battery life wasn't great on it, but I was using a 1.3ghz kernal

Webtop on nottach's rom is the same as in a stock 2.3.6, I have not detected any difference at all between them in that respect. You might have needed to upgrade the osh to 2.3.6 if you had not done so.
It is possible that the webtop2sd script relies on something that is not the same in those (I do assume the webtop2sd works on 2.3.6). You might try asking that question over there (or on nottach's website).
If the vnc app runnimg on a mirrored dock in CM9 did not look like garbage I would consider switching over to that. But for now I will stick to nottach's, and webtop is most of my concern.

to run webtop2sd on nottach rom you need to use any file explorer with root access (eg. root explorer)
and change permission of busybox
it will work perfect after that

Most stable rom?

Hi all,
My cousins atrix has started playing up (keyboard crashes, browser force closes etc) and ive advised that he change roms. Ive been looking though this forum for the past hour or so and am surprised to see so many roms - you guys have so much choice! (Ive got an optimus black and weve got maybe about 4 roms which is nothing compared to you guys!)
Anyway my cousin is a bit of a noob so I dont want to install a rom that will cause problems. Which rom should I install on his atrix please?
Thanks
The most recent releases of CM7, including CM7.2 RC1 and the most current nightly releases, have been pretty stable for me. I couldn't tell you about the non-CM7 ROMs (i.e. the ones based on the stock Atrix ROM) as I haven't used one for quite a while. There are several so-called CM9 ROMs out (based on ICS), but IMHO they aren't stable enough if you rely heavily on your phone, though they are getting there.

Im using joker's cm9. Its actually stable enough to be used as a daily driver. Yes the rom is in beta so there are bugs like video recording/playback, multitouch and small probs here and there due to missing ics drivers.

Wouldn't really consider that stable. Stable to me means everything works. Nottachtrix for stock look, and CM7 for AOSP

I agree - If your cousin doesn't need the fingerprint reader or webtop go with CM7 for now till the devs get the issues worked out on CM9.
Another vote for CM7. Its absolutely rock solid, and the weekly builds have fingerprint scanner support. CM9 is pretty good, but as has been mentioned its missing a few features and does have a few bugs that prevent some from being able to use it as a daily driver.
CM7 RC1 is where it's at now, no issues whatsoever for me.
Anyone know what is the progress of webtop on CM7 or 9?
Instead of CM7, I'd reccomend Neutrino. Install GO Launcher EX, ICS theme for the launcher and system and you've got yourself the best GB ROM with ICS-look.

Useless things such as TTS, VPN and Languages have been removed to make the ROM smaller. You just gotta flash a few more tiny .zip's...
Neutrino is better than CM7 at the base level. I reccomend you flash Neutrino GT+ version and under/overclock the CPU according to your needs.

+1 ╰☆╮Neutrino ROM V2.6╰☆╮ ....it is the best for battery and performance in my view....if you need the blur (webtop)... all three of Nottach roms are great although he supports only NottachTrix4G....
+1 for CM7.
I'd recommend you CM7 with faux kernel.

For a first time custom rom flash I'd go with Nottachtrix, very stable and Aroma Installer makes it very easy to customize to your liking.

I flash ROMs like crazy and I have to say Neutrino is by far the greatest rom! So what if you have to flash a few zips....thats how he made such an amazing rom...He stripped it down to the basics and you add the stuff that you want. I use the GT version but underclock to 1.00GHz most of the time...Saves battery but if I need the power, its available to me. 2.7 is out now....it has a wifi bug on the GT and GT+ versions though. You have to reflash faux's kernal to fix. Otherwise just use EE version. Its plenty fast enough without overclock.

Rocko or CM7

So I have used both Rocko and CM7. I can't decide which is better. Does anyone have any reasons why to choose one over the other as far as functionality is concerned?

Which Rocko are you using. I've been using CM7 and like it. Haven't really tried the Rocko rom yet. I did try to load up his 3.5 but it wouldn't boot.

Im going to flash Rocko 3.0 later. Rocko 1.1.1 used to be my daily before CM7.2 but I am looking for something with better battery life. Nobody uses Rocko 3.5 properly. Most people cant boot it.
I recommend cm7
Wow actually I think if you want everything working these are two of the choices .with jokers skinny.
but cm 7.2 has the modifications, if your into that..
Rocko 3.5 has rock solid cam/camcorder and HDMI working seamlessly.
even though aosp cm7 HDMI is working also.
I think its a feel thing.
If you like light weight style roms cm would be it.
If you like more heavy stock type feel then Rocko is it.
Both are excellent choices with everything working.
No 4g of course.

Great advice. I originally used Rocko as my daily and loved the mods. Then when cougar revived CM7 with CM7.2 I gave it a try and never really looked back. CM7.2 just felt more smooth and easier on the eyes.

Best rom so far?

Well, I know everybody has a different opinion about "best". But my DX2 is getting slower everyday. It is running the stock 2.3.4 rom currently. I have had to pull the battery out multiple times in the past month just to get out of the frozen mode. That's no fun!
So, here I am looking for a new rom, wifi is vital to me since I use it all the time, well, pageplus does not give much choice. Camera/camcorder are also extremely important (so miui is out?). Other than that, the rom should be as stable as possible, as snappy as possible. With the stock rom, open each app is a painful waiting of 2-3 seconds.
Alright, folks, please recommend! TIA
Upgrade to 2.3.5
Flash Eclipse
Enjoy.

I'm gonna say a tie between eclipse and cm7. I switch between the two often and they are both great and about equal in performance.

i've seen a few people say this. it must be an app issue. i only got the DX2 a few weeks ago, used stock for less than 35 minutes, then i flashed RC0 and RC1 CM7. I've had 1 FC related to Google Play Music, but other than that it has been smooth and fast. The lag when I sbf'd was pronounced, but i've had zero issues with CM7. are people restoring app data through TB or something? it just doesn't make sense that people could install the same rom the same way, then some say "fast; awesome" and others say "unstable; buggy."

Weird how some people have problems with CM7 and some have none. I've been running it over 4 weeks with zero issues. No FCs or anything. I used Pete's method of rooting and of course you have to load a special modified CM7 X2 Bootstrap after installing CM7. I'm just curious as to what could be the cause of some people having issues.

Decent stable ROM for unlocked electrify...?

Coming from an unlocked electrify...I love jokersax cm9, but it's just too buggy still...it's getting there...but for now I need a stable ROM that is above stock.
Need the following working for sure:

Hdmi support for Motorola lapdock
But I would prefer there to be little to no bugs at all.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated
