Okay so I've re-themed the phone and it really does look great, however, I'm a 'texter' and I can't find anything to change my input screen, handcent done a pretty good job for everything else message related but not the input screen. Also is it possible to disable the default messaging notifications?

Sorry buddy I have recently discovered that I can't see files on the xda app, how did you do it? Did you have to edit the message apk or was it in the framework?
Error when trying to install "Default input could not be installed on this phone."
Do I install this or mount the file?

I've deinstalled the default one (with titanium backup)and then installed this, but i think the best way is to use adb and replace the original.

Anychance of sharing the codes for doing this? I'm new to adb and not confident enough to go about it myself!
The easyest way is to use titanium backup(there is a free app on the market) to deinstall the original and then install this.
P.S. make a reboot after unistall

Just done this and everything is forcing close, even adw launcher, just done a cold restart and seems to be working okay, let's see what happens!
Still wont let me install this .apk file, still giving me the same error message, even after un-installing the original?
What am I supposed to be installing this with, titanium backup?

Hi
Is it possible to edit the apps you'we downloaded from the market, with other pictures etc like we do with the framework?
For example changing the icon shown in the app-drawer. In-app icons and so on..
Ive already tried but it didnt work...
Does it need some sort of signing to work?

Any apk can be edited, some need signing, some don't, but you'll find most that you download will need to be signed.
How do you sign it after editing, so it is possible to install it on my 10?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
youll need a program like apk manager, to sign etc..
there may be others, i use this one for messing around i think i have apk_manager-4.9

The gmail and talk apks aren't in that download.
Nothing I can find will decompile any of the apk's. Sorry guys.
You can open the apk's with winrar.

I get errors when trying to open the manifest for editing though?

i decompiled the apks, but the xml is in binary. i converted that and changed the values but i dont know how to convert it back to binary. without binary the xml wont be recognized by android. any help would be appreciated?
Thats why you cant just open them in winrar. They have to be decompiled to edit them. Cant do that with the tools currently available.
First, let me say by no means should I be trying any of this, because I don't really know much about how to modify software on Android devices. I've seen the .apk from AOSP taken and used on the Thunderbolt to replace the stock HTC text messaging app. Is there any way possible to take the .apk from some Motorola version of Android to swap in the Motorola text messaging app? That was by far the best looking messaging app in my opinion. I've tried simple .apk swaps and that doesn't do it. I'm just trying to figure out if its even possible or is it to entangled in the Blur b/s for me to even ask for help?

Not unless you have the software for it. Called backsmali or somethin like that. You could try posting on a dev page and ask for it

Hopefully I've done enough searching, but couldn't find anything.
To those of you who have heard the Carbon app for twitter, and tried it, know that their refresh limit for notifications is 15 minutes, which is far too long for me.
I'm wondering if other 3rd party apps like Falcon and Tweedle can do it, why can't Carbon?
Is there any way I can modify its apk so that I can change the refresh time to maybe 1/2 minutes?
I've tried searching the twitter's developer site but honestly I'm like a lost sheep there, I've decompiled the apk with apktool.
Thank you for any help!
No, Twitter api limit is15 minutes, not any apps fault that is in the play store.

Yes you can change the refresh rate, you will need to decompile the apk and find the right xml file that has that info,so you might want to learn about editing xml files and how to decompile and compile apks, before attempting this.
It depends on where the setting is kept: it may be in an xml file, but it could also be in a database, or even hard coded in the app. Either way you could possibly change it, it's just a question of whether you change a value in xml, sqlite, or a smali file.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Hm, I've decompiled it and it seems to be using the twitter4j Java library. Everything inside are smali files. Where would this setting usually be at? o:
