Dear all EVO GSM user,
Firstly, my device's current info should read as follow.
***Lock*** Shooter_u PVT.SHIP S-ON RL BOot-.1.49.0012 eMM-boot Aug.4.2011 ***************
It's a Testra Brand device I bought from my friend as I recognized the splash screen showing T and some Testra application installed, and so my question is as follow. 1) I have searched through Google, but could found not anybody has talked about Unlock EVO Testra brand device so far, so if it's possible to Unlock its current boot-loader? Noted that in HTCDEV does not show EVO Testra in its supported device and only showing like Sprint, Roger devices..etc.
2) If the HTCDEV method does not work, are there any methods that our users have been successfully unlocked their Testra device's bootloader?
3) I believe that my phone has been unlocked from Testra network via using keypad method to unlock it originally, and if it is so, in even my phone's bootloader could be unlocked, rooted & flashed any custom roms, and I will need to go back to stock rom (via running RUU.exe) due to some reasons like custom roms are not running well or more lagges...etc, and after completely flashing stock RUU.exe, will the Testra network (not the bootloader) lock my phone network again same as originally?
Thank you in advance for your help and looking forward to your good advices & comments as I need to try some custom roms now.
My phone's details as per attachments.
Hi,
I have the Vodafone branded version (VODAP120 not VODAP102), and can't find a working RUU to flash mine back to hboot 0007 from my current 0018. However I did manage to use the HTCdev method, I don't understand what the problem is for you. Branding and sim lock are independent, once it has been sim unlocked, it'll work with all sims, no matter what RUU you flash.
What I don't understand is why there are methods to unbrand the DHD and the Sensation, and nobody has yet managed to create one for the Evo 3d. In some German forum I read that you can nandroid restore a 'backup' off an unbranded device, to unbrand your own...
The problem with unlocking your device (to S-off, since htcdev method works), is that you won't find a working ruu with hboot 0007 or 0008 with the correct cid.

If my phone now is simunlocked, and if we flash the Testra stock Shipped ROM_U again same as original, will this stock shipped ROM lock my phone sim network again?
I noticed there is no method to unlock bootloader on Testra branded device yet.

AFAIK, no it won't sim lock it again. Might depend on the radio, but I doubt it will relock.
You can unlock the bootloader with HTCDev, then flash CWM recovery, then flash superuser through cwm, then flash a telstra branded RUU with hboot of 0007 or 0008. Then you can unlock the bootloader to S-Off with Revolutionary's tool. There's tutorial threads all over the place in the GSM development section.
Your problem (and mine too) is that we can't find an RUU that will work with our branded CID's, VODAP120 for me and TELSXXXX for you. If you try to flash, it always says incorrect cid (even with goldcard).

But in HTCDev, Testra branded is not listed in the supported device. Thus how can we unlock its bootloader? Can you clarify more?
Can it be confirmed that it won't lock the sim network again?
If I were u, if some of the custom roms can be considered as a daily use, and stock could not be reverted, will maintain at custom rom.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough on that, you need to use EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Asia - I think). I can't flash most custom roms because I don't have S-Off, I'm on 0018. ATM I'm using RosieLess, its clean, very light, and senseless (my favorite!).

Did the EMEA work to unlock your brand VODAF hboot? I believe yes base on ur comment? Why are u on S-ON now when u can unlock ur hboot, S-OFF, rooted ur phone?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515a using xda premium
Yes I used EMEA and I got my VODAP evo unlocked, but I don't have an RUU that has the correct cip, so I can't downgrade my hboot. I rooted it by installing cwm through fastboot. But I can't get S-Off with 0018.
Many users now have reported the same as your. Did your phone unlock sim network too?

Mine was already sim unlocked when I got it afaik

Ok, just as with any other device I have ever rooted, I would like to have an out just in case. So with that said, before I go ahead and root my Jetstream, I would like to know how exactly we should go about unrooting it if need be. I see that Football posted a PG09IMG for the stock ROM, can we just flash that from the bootloader and obtain S-ON and whatnot or is there something else we need to do?
Your jetstream is AT&T version
If yes you can't flash PG09IMG till you have S-OFF and changing Super CID

Yes, its from AT&T, and I know you have to have S-OFF to flash the PG09IMG, I was taking about if I root it and want to get S-ON back. And pardon my ignorance, but I have no idea what changing Super CID is
CID. Is carrierID each particular carrier has ID once I change it you'll able flash any Rom

Ok, but does that mean that flashing that PG09IMG will give us S-ON and therefore be unrooted?
Flash a rom or RUU can unroot your device but its not change the security flag. So if you have an s-off device it will be remain s-off anything you do. If you have an s-on device its the same. Cid is the carrier id number. That number prevent you from flashing another region or operator rom or to debrand your device. If you have supercid (1111111) you can flash any rom you like.
If your eg. Jetstream has root,s-off,supercid,unlocked bootloader its like heaven and you own a fully unlocked tablet which you can flash any rom, custom rom, kernel etc.
Ok, I have S-ON. So say I follow DooMLoRD instructions to gain root, install his custom recovery and kernel. What would I do to unroot the device?
Nothing. You need an official ATT RUU to unroot but it is not available on the internet.

Hello, is it possible to unlock my bootloader without using the htc dev method? This because i don't want to lose my warranty! I know that after unlocking my bootloader i will need a different bootloader to root my device, this is no problem for me.so is there a possibility to unlock my bootloader without htcdev.com? My hboot and type of device can be found at the title of this thread.kind regards, a proud htc evo 3d owner( i have the device for two weeks now)!
I had the same problem. EVO 3D GSM + HBoot 1.49.0018
The Revolutionary method doesn't work and as far as I'm aware, the only way to unlock your bootloader is via the HTC Method. I have done this and rooted my device. I am now going to attempt http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1495657
Sorry I can't be of more help. Extremely new to this!
thank you
Thank you for your reply! You have also vodafone, i think? Because of the hboot and the link you send me.thanks vodafone, for making it hard to root my device! I really won't use the htc method because i want to keep my warranty!
My phone is unbranded.
I was a little uncertain as to whether to root on the HTC Method but I just took the plunge. For me the ability to root surpassed the usefulness of the warranty.
Veevoh, how did you root your phone? I have an unbranded HTC EVO 3D GSM HBOOT 1.49.0018 with unlocked bootloader via HTC Method, but i just can't find a way to root. Did you downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.0007?

If your already unlocked via htc method then just flash a recovery, make a nandroid, and then flash a Rom. Take a look at the gsm development thread and spend a few hours reading to give you a better understanding of what the risk's and benefits are of rooting. Also as I previously mentioned if your unlocked and s-off and your on a stock Rom after you flash your recovery then just to gain root you can flash the Su.zip and then hit up the market and download busybox and you will have root on your stock Rom. I'd highly recommend making a nandroid backup as soon as you get your recovery on your device. Then make a copy of it and keep it on your pc just so you always have a stock backup to revert to and a copy of it.

No need for HTC unlock you.can downgrade you Rom with the old Rom version that comes with old hboot then use revaluation to s-off. I will post link to guide I used later.

Flash the stock RUU then go into bootloader and enter command fastboot oem writesecureflag 3 and you will be s-on again.
Note i have not tested the above command as dont want to start all over again but it should work.
Best way for me was
1. Root using htcsupertool
2. Then run ruu then root again
3. This turns your bootloader to .007
4. Then use I/O rev to s-off and install clockwork
5. Install your Rom
6. If you want to back to stock
7. Re run ruu takes you back to stock.
8. Then take the OTA updates takes you back to .018
7. Check forum how to s-on
This method prevents the RELOCKED bootloader just says locked
Hope this helps

Nah you dont. After downgrading to .007 i just used revolutionary to gain s-off and flash the recovery. After that you can flash a superuser zip and you'll have root.

Hello to all,
I've been searching but as i'm noob in this, i have to open new post and hope to get some help...
I recently bought an EVO 3D (according to information on "phone identify" is model X515m) that have this:
*** LOCKED ***
SHOOTER_U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT -1.49.0018
eMMC-boot
Oct 3 2011, 15:03:01
The Software Informations shows this:
Android version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense version: 3.0
From what i seen on other posts, this phone is locked, so if i want to change firmware i need to get S-OFF and make it UNLOCKED...
My questions are:
1. Since i bought this phone on ebay and don't have Portuguese PT-PT language, can i change firmware to have Portuguese?
2. Does i already have the last firmware?
3. Should i upgrade to another firmware that is improved? Battery with this one don't last much.
Thank you!

Concerning the unlock i've already searched and i think i can do it.
Thanks
No s off will come second first pay a visit to HTC dev this is where you will unlock your bootloader and once that is done you will need to install a custom recovery and then you can flash a Rom

ok, i've managed to get the phone unlocked but now i can't obtain S-OFF
The revolutionary way don't work on my phone because i have HBOOT 1.49.0018 and they only have 1.49.0008.
The 4EXT Recovery Touch way, i download the file but i don't know what to do with it and even if this will get what's needed to install a stock ROM that have Portuguese language...

Thanks...
--------- ok, i think i have it done with 4EXT Recovery --------------

Unfortunately there is no method for gaining s-off without having to unlock first. However with this guide that ramjet73 put together you can have your phone s-off with "locked" bootloader by the time you finish performing the wire trick. You will have to have to unlock your phone and gain root first before you perform the wire trick. A lot of people have said that using a paper clip works the best. Well here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438
Dont forget to hit the thank you button if I helped you in anyway and don't forget to drop a thank you for ramjet either.
Thanks for the referral jsparta26, but he's got a GSM model and my guide is specifically for Sprint S-ON phones.
If you had the CDMA version you could do the hboot 1.4 downgrade for S-OFF that requires bricking the phone but doesn't need HTC unlock. There was a "quick root" utility posted in the General Forum a few weeks ago that didn't work on the CDMA model with the Sprint ICS build installed but I don't know if it's been tested on the GSM model yet. Post #5 in that thread says it requires HTC unlock, but the OP never confirmed that in that thread or the original version he linked.
Maybe a GSM user knows of a way to get S-OFF on your model without the HTC unlock. Are you aware that the JuopunutBear wire trick resets your bootloader status to "locked" (at least on CDMA) even though you have to do the HTC unlock as a prerequisite? There is no indication on your phone afterwards that you were ever unlocked. Once you are S-OFF you can flash whatever hboot you want.

So I've tried my best to avoid posting another help me downgrade thred but I just cant manage to downgrade my hboot to 1.4xxx to flash various roms including kitkat. My evo 3D has a relocked S-on bootloader. I unlocked it the htc dev way. currently on ICS stock rom rooted. im not too sure how to get s-off but Ill do that when it comes to it. I'm coming from an xperia play which only required an unlocked bootloader lol I've also tried unlocking the bootloader again using the cmd window but it just says it fails :/
