[Q] Need to unstall Gapps or remove CM9 - TouchPad General

I installed CM9 to my touchpad last night, but I used the wrong Gapps file, and none of them loaded. So, was wondering if there is a way to load ONLY the correct Gapps file (I found a video on doing it in CM7, but I don't think that it translates to CM).
My other option is to just uninstall everything and start over. I know that there was an ACMEUninstaller for CM7, but I can't find ACMEUninstaller2 for CM9. Would ACMEUninstaller for CM7 work on CM9?
Thanks for your help.

flashing the correct Gapps version should do the trick..
for uninstalling CM9 i am not sure but i uninstalled Classicnerd using acmeuninstall....so i think it shud work...but i am not sure...

There is not an ACMEUninstaller2, so ACMEUninstaller works.
You can flash byway of CMW. Thats the only way to install Gapps. I'd use v11.

OK, Thanks
I appreciate you guys taking a minute to help.

There is a huge debate about this, but if you are not ready for a new Kernel, you can try an app call Autokiller Memory Optimizer and set it to the Optimum setting.
This will kill apps that are eating up your RAM and over time can slow your phone. This is one simple and quick solution.
This app adjust the memory killer that is already used by the phone. This just helps it to work more efficiently.

Big plus one to this. It's like CM7 (CyanogenMod) or CM7-based MIUI should have been released for our devices from the start. I couldn't believe how smooth my Fascinate was after installing andmer's MIUI.
Here's his twitter where he links to his releases: http://twitter.com/#!/andmer_
And here's the latest release as of this post: http://goo.gl/Pja9F (includes jt's CM7 kernel) + patch: http://goo.gl/OquBU

oh trust me i want to be on CM7 or MIUI, but i CANNOT get around the SD mount error. i have another thread about it. i have tried everything and nothing works. i was thinking of ordering a smaller 8 gig card to try and see if its my cards, what class/type card should i get just to install and MTD rom?? i cant CM7 and MIUI bad
Where's your other thread? I had an SD Card mount error but found a fix and posted it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296694&page=2#post18859876
Let me read your thread and I'll see if it's the same issue.
here is mine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1325525
Jsut so I have the steps down:
1) You have the ROM zip file on your SD Card
2) Reboot into ClockworkMod
3) Select install Zip from SD card
4) Navigate to the Zip file
5) Install
You're saying the process breaks for you at #3 because CWM can't read your SD Card?
If the above problem is true, try using rom manager to find and flash the file. if not try a different sd card.

back to the lag issue...when running these roms are you restoring backups from Titanium. If so, are your backups from a froyo rom, that could be part of the problem if you also get force closes. I had the same problem a while back. I have also noticed if changing fonts(such as with absolute system root tools) certain more elaborate fonts can cause some lag as well. also check into the widgets you are using, even on CM7.1 i get insane lag and launcher force closes if I use Fancy Widgets but everything else is fine.
Hopefully one of those things will solve the issue...if not wipe it clean and start fresh lol but seriously hope you figure it out
after re-reading the op it really sounds like your problem could be with restoring apps, it sounds identical to when I first switched to the GB roms. You run smooth as butter for a while the it all goes to hell. I would start with wipe data/factory reset but when intalling backups try WITHOUT DATA if you still get lag, wipe again and install your apps manually from the market or where ever. I ended up going with the latter and haven't had issues since.

Thanx man !!

Thank you! Could you explain me how to flash the gapps?
Edit: Thanks, i found some instructions. Just restart, boot clockwordmod and select the zip and install it.
Thanks for the upload, but when I installed it, I would keep receiving errors saying "NFC Service has stopped" nonstop.
Am I missing something here?
Install ICS on cm7 3.5 not on xron rom. It fixed all issues for me
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda premium
For some reason I get:
"Opening update Package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/gapps_ics_4.0.3_v9.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted."
Wth...?
Edit: Never mind it worked. I just redownloaded the .zip, restarted the touchpad, went back into recovery, mounted the device and replaced the old zip with the new one, selected it again and it installed properly. Thanks for the link.
is the market app on this flashing zip for tablets?
I used - gapps_ics_4.0.3-rogue_v5.1-signed - and it seemed to work fine for me, got my apps amd market works.
Broken Link
The link seems to be broken, does anyone know of a working link? I tried Googling it but seems hard to find.
Cheers!
Russian-if you can manage to get Goo manager installed, it will pull the gapps down for you.

After doing the Nightly CM9 upgrade from CM7, I installed the GAPPS file gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip. The installation became very unstable and crashed constantly. I guess that was the wrong GAPP file, right? As I'm very new to this Android stuff, the question is which GAPP is right for the HP. Is there a Tenderloin version that is stable and verified?
I was able to upgrade to the official CM9 20120712 nightly and have been stable ever since. By pulling down only the apps I had previously (less than 20 ), I have been very happy on CM9.
In the first post of the CM9 Nightly thread here, there is a link to the Gapps you should be using which is 20120429 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568685
Problems with installing gapps on Touchpad
Wondering which gapps apk to use with the HP Touchpad. When I try to install the gapps apk(s) I get a message at the setup screen that states "sorry the setup wizard has stopped". At that point there is not way out of that screen so a reboot is necessary. But the reboot takes me right back to the setup screen and the same issue. So, used a NanDroid backup to restore. But would really like to get the Google Apps. Especially the Playstore and Google Maps. Thanks!
I currently have the Classic Nerd Butta OS running on my HP Touchpad. Perhaps that is the issue? Is there a gapps apk that will work with that OS?
i use the cm9 one from here http://goo.im/gapps (4.0.3-4)
ClassicNerd Butta and CM9
Isn't ClassicNerd Butta really a modified CM9 OS, or not ?

Finally, Google Playstore app is now working on my HP Touchpad with Butta (ICS).
Thanks to x000x for the tip.
The file that made the Playstore work is: gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Google said this could not be done because the Touchpad is not certified by them.
But "we" showed them.
So nice to be able to access the Playstore now.
This solved several issues that developed when I installed ClassicNerd.
But, ClassicNerd seems to have fixed the wifi issues I had with CM7.
Can now watch Netflix streaming video without constantly resetting the wifi using Wifi Fixer app.
Also rebooted my router as I did have a few connect issues after install of ClassicNerd.
So, anyone with wifi connect issues may want to try that first.
Thanks again to x000x for the tip about this zip file. :good:

[Q] CM9 Trouble!

I've been searching all over the place for an answer to this so hopefully you guys will be able to help me out.
I purchased a used 32gb touchpad that came with cm7 dualbooted on it, but when I tried booting into webos the hp logo just stayed on screen for about 15 minutes before I hard reset it. Then I downloaded CM9 alpha 2 and installed it on my sd card then went into CWM and installed zip from sd card. Once i booted CM9 everything worked fine, but on the bottom right it says preparing SD card and just stays there. I can't access anything that's on my sd card through cm9! Any help would be appreciated!
And 1 more thing I can't get into my developer settings tab in the settings menu!
Did you use the ACMEinstaller2? or which method to install?
i used clockwork because it already had cm7 on it and I didn't need any of the data on it
Are you able to ask the person you bought the touchpad from how he installed Android on it? CyanogenMod 7 does not require AcmeInstaller2 but CyanogenMod 9 does, at least from what I've read. Installing CM9 without AcmeInstaller2 could be causing your issue.
Personally what I would do is get a hold of AcmeUninstaller and remove the Android installation and then you can use WebOS Doctor to re-install WebOS on your Touchpad. After that follow the rooting guide to re-install CyanogenMod 9.
Root: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18843-releasealpha2-cyanogenmod-9-touchpad/ or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305891
WebOS Doctor: http://ws.hpwebos.com/webosdoctor/hpserialnumberinitial.htm
There's a really good guide on how to get everything reset for you found in THIS THREAD. It guides you the whole way, and has worked for about 99% of the people who've used it.

Did exactly this and it worked like a charm! I appreciate your help!
I've got the same issue... would REALLY like to avoid a full wipe of WebOS...
I'd had CM7... I used ACMEInstaller3 (b/c the links to AI2 were all broken) to install Oats.. from there I went to AOKP M6, and now to the 0903 CM9 nightly.
I think this was broken all the way back to Oats.. (I didn't keep it long enough to worry about it).

[Q] CM10 on Touchpad

Installed CM 10 on the my Touchpad last night. Successfully dual-booting now. Install went well. Everything expected to work is working. Meaning the camera is not. Also the the USB port is not working at all (power or connectivity). Luckily the Touchpad is charging like a champ on the Touchstone.
The one part of the install that was NOT successful was the install for the Play Store app (gapps.jb.20121122). After the install was complete the gapps ZIP file was/is still in the CMINSTALL directory. So, what has to happen to force the install of the gapps?
I was able to get to the web-based Play Store from the Touchpad through Android Central. Even able to "install" a couple of apps although it would not allow me to select the Touchpad ........ only the Razr Maxx HD that I have. So the install was sent to it instead.
Thanks in advance for any help in getting the Gapps file to install. As so many others would like to get additional apps.
Community needs a good standalone APK installer
I noticed ACMEInstaller3 is still looking for a gapps-gb zip file, dating back to the CM7 days when ACMEInstaller was first created. You can boot into Clockworkmod or TWRP and install the zip with gapps manually, the zip you mention is the correct one for CM10. Then when you reboot you will be asked to log in to your Google account
In the future post in the Touchpad specific forums to get a quicker reply.
i think jelly bean is not a really change from ice cream sandwich

[Q] Newbie Questions - recovery mode/google now on ics

Hi guys,
First of all, thanks for the great community, good to be here
I've just got my mediapad at a bargain as 2nd hand and installed 'CleanICE 1.5 Rom (ICS 4.0.3). It has a really great response and installed with such little effort on my part so cheers h25p. I considered a couple other ROMS too, particularly the one posted by 'after_silence', http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856571 CM10 but it is said to have issues with HDMI out (which is an important feature to me) so I haven't tried that one yet.
What I'm trying to do now is boot in to Recovery (so I can install GoogleNow as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843457) but can't seem to figure it out for this ROM.
Has anyone had success doing so with ICS? Or better yet, anyone with experience of the 'glitchy HDMI' on the CM10 Jellybean ROM (is it really bad or is it workable most of the time)?
Cheers guys!
[edit]
used auto recovery installer and got CWM on the device now (after_silence provides link to it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856571)
i thought installing that would wipe everything else so to other newbies, don't be concerned. it's just installing the recovery manager and nothing else is affected
after that i went and installed the 'GoogleNowforICSInstaller_v1.1.zip' (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843457) from sd card in CWM but sadly when it boots up there is still no google now. any ideas on where to proceed from here?
Maybe our recoveries doesn't support aroma installer. Try to flash twrp instead of cwm or put manually lib and apk/apks from zip to your system folder (same as it is located in zip), set perrmisions to apk and reboot.

thank you for your suggestion, it has got me one step closer (well I suppose anyway). perhaps from here it is just something to do with the gnow port just not being compatible with my rom? after I install it manually and recheck all the permissions via my file manager, whenever i go to google search it simply says "unfortunately, google search has stopped."
Try to find another moded version. I tried it on stock fw (ICS) few mounths ago and it worked.

Thanks, also posted a logcat dump for one of the Gnow developers and they said there was a lot of location / graphics card errors and also suggested to try another ROM. Ended up flashing JB 4.1.1 AOKP for mediapad 30.1 Final (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1876676) and enjoying GoogleNow which comes built in with it.
So far I'm really surprised at how much better it is - initially thought my battery was failing ( purchased my device 2nd hand) but the drain is really low now with this ROM. Seems a bit faster over all too. Didn't test out the HDMI function yet but hope that's not as bad as it sounds. Keeping my eyes open on the development of the 4.2.2 nightlys thread and will probably head over to that once HDMI and bluetooth is working a bit better there
