did you try:
fastboot oem lock
command?
Bootloader "Relocked"
I need to send Amaze in for warranty replacement, but bootloader shows as "Relocked." Do any of the legendary android dev heroes know if its possible to restore the Amaze bootloader to show "Locked" as it originally did. Not sure if the relocked status will void the warranty.

Not without s=off... The testers of s=off script I think are able to, but ours (s=on) will say "relocked."
Your warranty is probably still good... As long as it was a hardware issue... And if its a software issue, that can probably be fixed w/o sending it in
Sent from my HTC Ruby running Android Revolution HD
Thanks... I believe its a hardware issue. It was running fine on senseless rom, then all of a sudden it began overheating when charging, and the phone would just continually reboot until the battery was completely drained. It showed battery health was poor so I replaced the battery, but the problem persisted. The phone overheats when charging, and just keeps loading all the way to the home screen, then it auto reboots after less than a minute. I reverted everything back to stock to see if that fixed the problem, but it still does the same thing. T-mobile tech support said the prob sounds hardware related. Has anyone heard of software causing these problems? As far as I can find through searching s-off is still a no go for the average "instruction follower" like me. I dont wan t to jump into trying s-off when its still in the r&d stages and destroy an already limping device. thanks for all the help. There are many geniuses on XDA and I dont think you all get the credit u deserve.
You should be fine with it relocked then...

Too bad you're going to have to register your device with HTC in order to use it. That way they can track that your device is rooted and deny your servicing.
I'll stick with Revolutionary when it can actually handle my Rogers device.

Yeah, I'm fine with how the root is now. But, they won't necessarily say your phone is rooted, just that you had the bootloader unlocked. If you can restore it to stock, they really can't do much to accuse.

Not sure about that. Once they know your unlocked the bootloader, I think they can deny your warranty (may even be something you have to agree to as part of the process).

Yeah, but is this going to void your warranty by the carrier? I have Sprint's TEP, so I don't think I really need to worry about it.

HTC did mention that if you unlock your bootloader your warranty will be voided.
I sure hope nobody is considering using HTC's unlock method... Revolutionary works perfect and is totally reverable and untrackable.
I might have to use it if revo doesn't end up supporting my Evo 3D. Right now Revolutionary unlocks every EVO 3D except Rogers Canada phones which have HBOOT 1.49.0008.
I'm hoping Revo does end up supporting ours as I don't want to void warranty if I don't have to!
Yes. Lose your warranty. Lets all do it.
From my MIUI'd Evo3D
I wonder how many people who spammed HTC's facebook wall with complaints about the 3D being locked/how long it was taking them to unlock it aren't even going to use their tool.
Warranty is voided if you use HTC or revolution. I like the xda developers and always contribute to the things they work on, but I am going to use the best unlocking method right now it is revolution . I'll use HTC when it comes out because I like to see what HTC has to offer, they have been good so far.

The difference between HTC and Revo is that with Revo you can always lock back up and no one will be the wiser (unless you seriously screwed something up in the software). With HTC, you register with them beforehand that you plan to unlock, and then you regsiter with them again when the unlock is performed. There's no denying it, no fooling them. And you can be assured they'll be sharing that info with the carriers.

is it just me or does the so-called "unlocking" method/instructions sounds almost similar to revolutionary's method/procedure??? ex... generating keys... having sdk downloaded for fastboot commands/htc drivers??? just sayin...
Ok the warranty thing says may cancel all or parts which I'm sure if it is a true hw problem it will be fine and your warranty will be ok unless you oc it and causes it to mess up etc also isn't the nexus line that way if u unlock it revokes it

Why is everyone so wound up over HTC's warranty policy on the unlocking of the bootloader? You all know what you are getting into when you mod your phones. If you are a dumb ass and use a OC app and set it for 1.8 min & 1.8 max and jack your CPU up its YOUR fault, not HTC's. If your LCD starts to pull away from the phone then HTC will be responsible, surely they wont deny your warranty for issues like these because you unlocked your phone.
However I CAN see sprint using this as a way of NOT replacing phones under warranty. That is what will be the worst part of HTC's unlock tool!

That's the reason I won't use it. I'm fine with HTC's warranty policy. It makes sense from their standpoint.
I'd simply rather avoid it altogether by not registering myself as having unlocked my bootloader.
If we go ahead and HTC Dev Unlock, and then the lte gets s=off, will we be able to either flash everything completely back to stock and get s=off, or will we be able to just achieve s=off using the the method and write over the htc dev unlock?
The question of whether we can undo HTCDev unlocking isn't really an issue, it will almost certainly be done and figured out by the time / if somebody figures out a true S-OFF method. The only real sticking point with HTCDev for most people is the fact that your phone's serial number gets recorded (and your bootloader says "relocked" if you do revert but that's something that will probably be fixed eventually).
But in the end, who knows what the future will bring? You can already RUU back to stock in every sense except the bootloader label.
My guess is somebody will get their hands on an engineering hboot sooner or later and this will all get sorted out.
My only worry is for Sprint's TEP, but I also did read somewhere that they are taking in rooted devices, so I'm guessing it shouldn't be an issue anyway?

So my HTC amaze died on me about 2 days ago I was listening to my music in my car connected through Bluetooth then a cop passed by and everything shut off haha coincidence haha anyway went home had no service like absolutely nothing thought nothing of it and went to sleep, next morning still nothing and ever since now its dead. Called HTC they said most likely its T-Mobile not the phone but they sent me a replacement back cover (which is cool) because the antennas are on the back anyway I know this isn't the problem because even without the back cover you can still get signal. So I took phone to T-Mobile put new sim tested and nothing so now I know its the phone not T-Mobile. Anyway my question is how can I prepare to send back to T-Mobile I have relocked phone put stock recovery and put leaked ics Rom. So is that bad that it sais relocked and bad if I'm using leaked ics rom I know its voids warrenty when it sais relocked but my software and phone everything works perfect its just the signal so will they fix it? And when I send in could I send phone with a eBay bought battery not HTC one so they could send me a new battery or should I send only HTC battery, phone, and back cover. And also is there any fix for this so I don't have to send in? Please help thanks
You can install official ruu and that will update and install your hboot to locked, which is what tells them if it's locked or relocked. If you don't know how to do this you need to read. Also I've been hearing that ever since s off became available they are considering as voiding warranty not sure if this has taken effect yet or if it matters but just to be sure if your s off read the section that tells you how to s on.
Now before you send have you tried toggling airplane mode on and off ? Still no signal? Flash the official ruu usually fixes these issues. If still no signal then I suggest you send it in.

It's still gonna say relocked, the only way he can get it back to "locked", is if he s-off's the device, once s-off is successful, it automatically puts it as locked all over again, he can leave it as lock, restore a stock ruu, then using, use the command: fastboot writesecureflag 3, that will s-on the device along with everything else being complete stock.
Hmm ya I know how to ruu wich I did but I ruu the ics leak and now everything's stock accept that it sais relocked and want to know if that's gonna be a problem for warrenty when I send it in? It shouldnt since its not software problem? And ya hear how to s off just don't want to try wire trick and all that. And yep tryed turning off and on airplane mode turning off radio taking T-Mobile to change sim cards have original stock Rom tryed *#*#4636#*#* all those tricks but nothing.

When you chose to unlock boatloader you voided your warranty. So by saying relocked it tells them you unlocked it. You need to do what dark nightmare says or you run the risk of not warranting your phone. Luckily for me I "lost" my phone so I couldn't send it in.

So update for everyone i called HTC back and told them to cancel my back cover replacement for the Amaze because i know this is not the reason why i have no bars! because without that cover i still had bars and i know the amaze has some more antennas inside the device. Anyway i told them that i want to send the phone in for repairs so now everything set up and just have to send the phone on its way :crying: hope its a hardware issue and they can fix it. In the mean time got kinda intresting email from HTC saying
"After we receive the device, we will diagnose it and if there are any damages that fall outside of the limited warranty, we will contact you with a quotation to repair. If you choose not to repair, a service fee of up to $35 dollars will be charged and the device will be returned unrepaired."
Yes kinda scared me but hope i don't have to pay anything for this repair so everyone wish me luck and ill let you guys know how everything goes.
Sucks im probably not gonna have my phone for about a month
Just asking, but even if you managed to get the phone completely back to stock and say "Locked" isn't HTC able to tell if you've unlocked the bootloader via their unlock process on the website?
I was under the impression that the entire reason for the HTC unlock process (getting the key from the phone, etc) was so that they would have a database of phones that have had their bootloader unlocked? I'm kind of new to this but that was my impression.

I think they do have a database, yes, but that only tells them that you requested the file, they can't know you YOU used the file, can they? Huh? Nope, if they knew you used the file, that sir would be invasion of privacy, then they'd be paying for more than just a simple device replacement with the lawsuits that would be hitting them from every mobile device owner using their product.
So once it says "Locked", they can't say you voided your warranty, then they'd have to prove it.
Yes what darknightmare said you could get token but maybe last second decided not to do it haha anywho sending it saying relocked hope they fix hardware issue if not maybe gotta spend money?

They don't need a database. There is no way I know of to get a "locked" phone once it has been unlocked. It will say "relocked". So HTC knows it has had an unlocked bootloader. That doesn't necessarily negate the warranty so far as HTC is concerned. I've read that they have fixed what are obviously hardware problems. But they won't fix anything that a ROM screwed up unless you pay.
The wildcard is T-Mobile. They may or may not be picky about these sort of things.
Ya for sure lets see what htc sais shipped out today through ups htc should get it thursday hope ups loses or breaks my packagae have 300 dollar insurance ha but yep anyone know of any prices for this fix?

Sir, when I say there is a way to get a "locked" bootloader, please don't argue with me unless you can prove my theories wrong, , I have tested and proven everything I speak of, I don't just say something because I want to.
Edit: For the record, once it says "relocked" you have voided your warranty, if you read the agreement on HTC website when unlocking your bootloader and the message on the device when unlocking, it clearly states by unlocking your bootloader you are voiding your warranty.

100% on what Dark Nightmare said, i followed the procedure on the forums on how to completely restore to stock. i was s-off etc.. after it was all said and done, my phone was locked and ready to rock. I sent it back after my replacement arrived and all was good.
Just read through General, Q&A and Dev section, Trust me the answer is there. It's ALWAYS there. I used the GB juopunutbear S-off tool instead of the ICS tool cause i am retarded and didn't take my time and got stuck because of it. I did 2-3 minutes of using the search button and i was fixed in a second!

I think my post may not have been clear. Of course you can lock the bootloader; that is how one installs the original ROM. Out of the blues yesterday my HTC Evo 3D GSM (S-on) running MIUIV4 (with antrax kernel 3.5) went down with no warnings whatsoever. Now the screen is distorted showing millions of colored dots. All the buttons are working. If I move my hand over the screen in the right direction I can even hear it unlock though I can't see anything but those dots.
Worst part is I am not able to go into the bootloader as well or rather I can't see it in bootloader, the screen is blank. ADB and fastboot commands work properly when connecting to my laptop. Recovery also shows the same colored dots and nothing else.
Ran out of ideas to try fixing it on my own. Before I take it to the service center, would like to have another opinion on what might be the problem. Any inputs appreciated.
I would suggest reflashing an hboot and then reflashing a rom if you are able to.
If after that it is still doing that then its probably a problem with the screen.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
Anthrax kernels are only to be flashed with s-off I believe
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
Might be a digitizer failure
As a last ditch effort, I would boot into bootloader (even though you can't see it), relock the bootloader (fastboot oem lock) and then run the ruu.exe for your area/carrier. This will completely put you back to stock which hopefully fixes it. If not, your back to stock to take it in for repairs.
Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks, will try that out and lets see if that fixes it. Will update soon.
Update: Tried running the RUU but didn't fix the problem.
Took it to the HTC authorized center, they told me that the display needs to be changed. After a week or so they told me there is some motherboard issue and they are trying to fix. And yesterday they gave up and said they can't fix the issue.
When the authorized center itself says it can't fix , finally given hope on my beloved EVO 3D and back to nexus one running CM7 :crying:.
The screen on my evo is freaking out (digitizer malfunction, top left corner randomly activating) and I need to take my phone into sprint to get it fixed or replaced. Unfortunately my laptop is beyond repairs and I am running CM10.1 while unlocked with S-off, with the customizer used so it still looks like s-on and locked. Is there a ROM or some sort of flash able I can use to get to a returnable state?
Flash the stock rooted rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211138
They won't even know the difference. If it's a hardware issue, the fact that you're rooted/s-off shouldn't matter anyway, but I doubt they'll even check.
