[Q] My Gtablet Is Acting Funny - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey There, There are some problems with my gtab- 1>My Brother Droped it twice and its been kinda okay. And A couple of days later it wouldnt charge unless i move the charging cable in a funny way. Im 10. Im wondering about calling viewsonic and nvflashing it. I dont think i can return it though because my uncle bought it. Is there a way i can fix it? Can i RMA it i dont know how btw . Im BootLoader 1.2 Need More info? Email [email protected] or comment. Im running flashback 10.1

Sounds like the port soldering came loose
This sounds like what happened to me before. I had to have the port solder back in. If you can find a dock, you can also charge your tablet using it. There is a thread which goes into this and even one which shows details of opening the tablet up. Try using the forum search to find it. Do not try this unless you have electronics training.
As many times as this has come up we need to get all of these instructions together in the general area and make it a sticky thread (pin it).
Good luck.

I think i should buy a dock. Whered i get onw?

[Q] Broken mini-usb Help Needed

Ok from all the flashing (i guess thats my drug habit ) i have seem to have dislodged the mini usb slot. Yes i have tried everything to get it to work (aside from taking it apart to try soldering it back) but to no avail. I called viewsonic and they seemed very happy to help me even tho i couldnt even read my serial number (underneath the skinomi and forgot to write it down . I was wondering if anyone had experience with returns and if their picky about the flashing, (currently have gtabcomb on it) and if they are picky could someone test it out if i could flash to stock BL1.2 from gtabcomb 3.3 BL1.2 w/CWmod without nvflash?
Thanx
P.s. Sorry if posted in wrong place as i do realize this a question.
PPSS Just got sent the usual US Merchants products to buy sheet with the return details email and saw this on the bottom??

woah! someone please explain!
Yes you can install 4349 via cwm using an update package. Don't remember where I got it but I put a copy in my Dropbox. Here's the link http://dl.dropbox.com/u/36150173/update-smb_a1002-4349-user.zip. I'll leave it there a couple of days. If anyone else needs it and can't find elsewhere just PM me.

I did this too and opened it up and looks like the inside connector got pushed back and the pins got a little messed up so now it works sometimes and sometimes doesnt. Is there any way we can just get a replacement port and resolder? If so where would one get that part?

Thanks for the link, ya I think Im gonna take my chances and try that, even if it doesnt boot after than they can fix that too or send it back to me not booting, just as long as the mini-usb's working.

They have a good article about replacing similar mini-usb's on Hack A Day but it seems like a pain to replace them. Plus this is normal use so its totally under the warranty.

Parts can be bought on flybay for cheap, but soldering is not for every Joe guy ... Not that hard but you will need a fine tools
I just posted this link over in the QA section also, but take a look at this. It should be the correct USB header that you snapped off your tablet. If you're down to attempt a solder job go for it. http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/896-43-005-00-100001/ED90342TR-ND/1873755

Above is a decent place to get these kind of parts. Just be careful in the removal stage and use solder wick. Make sure you leave the traces intact and don't use much force (don't pry it off) let the wicking do the work and slowly lift it while still heated.
Fosser2 above has done a lot of work on the guts.
update
Well i finally got it back today and booted it up in under 10 seconds i was damn impressed. I'm use to over a minute with all my stuff jammed in there.
Anyways they fixed it with no questions asked and flashed it also.
Im gonna play with the tap-n-tap for awhile till it pisses me off lol
Thanx for the help guys
Ps
Its seems just total stock but if anyone wants me to dump it let me know.

[Q] Tablet Won't Boot

Hey everyone, I’m not sure what Android Tablet Device I bought other than the name on the box and I’m not even sure that’s correct, so I’m not really sure where to even post my issue so please go easy on me if this is in the wrong place and I have broken any rules.
About 1 year ago this month I bought a tablet from an online vendor. At first everything seemed ok, but it didn’t take too long before ugly issues started to show up. The first thing that was happening was the tablet would hang at boot up. If that was not bad enough, when it did make it to the “desktop” I would be scared to touch an icon because that may also freeze the OS up. Well now things have gotten worse than I could even imagine! The tablet will no longer boot, I do get power, but it won’t boot and I don’t know what to do
The box says it’s a 7" Google Android 2.0 APAD MID Tablet PC from China. I’m almost 100% sure it shipped with Android 1.6 even though the box says 2.0.
What I wanted to ask was, are there ways to find out what’s going on? Are there tools I could use to help me know what I need to do to get this thing booting again?
I Found a YouTube video and it has the exact box I have and the tablet looks exactly the same, and near the end of the video you can see its running 1.6 firmware, this IS exactly my same tablet. But due to forum rules I can't post the link until I make 8 posts, wish I could share this video with you all though, i know it would help a great deal.
Thank You all for reading and I hope to hear some good news soon!!!!
Whoa, 1.6? That's ancient, It might be more worthwhile to chuck it and get something that is higher quality. At least a G tablet.
Thanks for the post! Well I don't need a newer tablet, I used this one to read PDF books and go online. If I can fix this one, then i'll save over $100 from getting a new eReader or tablet device. I'll leave that as a last resort.
Having said that, I have done more research about the device and I think what I have is a flytouch 1 or a knockoff. What gave it away to me is how my device will vibrate when I turn it on. I started to research and found out it needs firmware for WM8505. I would still like to know though if there is software to help me with the boot loader. Like can I find software and install it to my pc, then hook a cable to my tablet and plug it into my pc and see inside the tablet to figure out whats going on.
Thanks!!!
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Still no luck for me and my issue. If anyone knows of away to mess with the boot loader to get this going, pleeeease post. Thank!!

[Q] (HELP)Need help with a rather strange Photon...

UPDATE 2:I have been officially forbidden to tear into this thing until after I take it to a cell phone repair shop. That will happen this Saturday. I also noticed another user on this forum managed to make a jigkick-type charge-only cord by splicing an old cord, the same way I made my battery-charging cord. Hopefully, I won't end up having to dive into the thing, but if I do, I'll make sure this forum gets a play-by-play.
UPDATE: Found a few pictures of a MoPho teardown that include where the + and - leads are... this could be dangerous, but since the Photon is uselss to me locked and nobody would buy it in its current state, I'm taking my redneck charger to it later today. I'll ipdate you fine folks when the magic happens, I know at least one other person must be in my exact same boat, seeing as this is a cheap, amazing phone with great hspa speeds and a reputation for generally troublesome charging hijinks. I can't link the thread, since it's on another forum, but google around for "Photon Tear Down for + & - leads" and it should turn up.
I bought a Photon from Craigslist to replace the aging Sidekick 4g this is being typed on, but didn't anticipate it would come with the OTA update, locking the bootloader. I just want to GSM unlock it, so I figure, no problem. I go to charge it after successfully using RSD and such... no go. Apparently, it will send and receive data with a PC(if it's not booted into Android), but will NOT take a charge. I dissected an old cord to make a redneck battery jumper for now. I can worry about that later or just buy 2 batteries and an external charger. My issue is that I can't get into bootstrap to flash KDDI without AC power and I'm running rooted stock US Cellular right now, with the unbrick package flashed. So close, yet so far... If I could just get into bootstrap, or flash the radio and/or ROM without it, I'd be golden. Is there a way to make KDDI into a signed update.zip or an electrical 'jigkick" I can get into bootstrap with, similar to a PSP pandora battery? I dropped 80 bucks and really love this phone, even stuck on gingerbread forever. And... well, both my wives are verbally beating me down about this and the guy that sold it to me vanished. Is there a way to gsm unlock it? I'd even pay for an unlock code, were there a place to enter it. ANY help at all is well-appreciated! Thanks, all!

Sorry, I must have missed something...I can't find any help in that thread. Everybody in there was using bootstrap, whicb I can't access because of my bum charging port.

If you are hardbricked there is a solution by swapping out the MotherBoard

If you are like me and can not get fastboot or recovery, you can only get into APX mode. If you want to get your device back running there is a way. There are two items you will need.
#1 a case opening tool
#2 a TF201 motherboard
First you should search around to purchase
Asus Transformer Prime TF201 Tablet Motherboard 0K0AMBA000 69NAZAM19B05 <-- that is the motherboard
Then purchase a case opening tool and watch the videos on opening the prime, it is not that hard and takes less than 5min easy.
Then swap out your old board for the one you purchased and power it up.
I did this to mine I was backup in less than 30min.
Just watch lots of videos so you are familiar with the inner parts of the 201.
I hope this helps some of you, hit me up with any questions....
Like you I also hard bricked my prime. I have taken the leap and purchased a replacement board, just wondering if it was as simple as replacing the board and booting up and you are then back to where you left off, ROM/setting wise. Or was a re flash of some sort required??

Good question and I was worried about that as well. I bought my MB from a ebay seller that had a bunch and said tested. What I was told is the OS is already installed on the board, so I felt less worried that this will turn out to be a big job.
I cracked the case open.
Removed the ribbon cables that go to the display.
Removed the battery
Removed the MB
Re installed in reverse order and powered it up before closing case.
I will make a recommendation to anyone selling their units with bad screen/digitizer. Do whatever you have to to wipe the device or change all your passwords. The unit I got powered up with ICS and had the pas owners pic and files on it. It even had a the lock screen pattern enabled. I did one quick swipe and it opened I was surprised he made it so simple?
I looked around to see if there was any files I thought he might need and I was going to email him a copy, since I had all his login info for his gmail. There was nothing, just lots of porn so I wiped it.
So in a quick answer it's just a swap and power up.

LOL, my wife was so freaked that the person sold his prime without wiping the data. I tried to explain to her that his digitizer/screen was bad so there was no easy way to do that.
I just could not believe I got the pattern code on the first try.
hi, thanks for the post but do you know where i can buy the motherboard? (can't find one)
also i can't access the APX mode is it a problem ?

Your best bet is to search ebay / amazon.. Motherboards are pretty hard to find as there are not a lot around. It took me a couple of days of consistently searching ebay to find one.

If you can't get into APX you might have other issues. MB are out there, not saying you will find tons nor everyday.
