Something wrong with i777 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Resently i decided to buy used i777 at ebay. While was purchasing 'new' device, i found out that almost all esed ones are previously repaired. Have you got any information what is wrong with it?

Can you provide some specifics? Tell us exactly what the problem is with the phone. What does it do, or what does it not do?

So close to giving up

This phone is awesome until i make or receive calls. I've tried numerous roms and modems that all result in the same result which is muffled voices that i often can't even understand. Seems that its when im talking to iphone users more than anything but its always there. My inspire was great with phone calls and really never had an issue understanding with any phone I've ever owned. Very frustrating and even happens on headset and Bluetooth devices. Any advice, anyone else experience this?

Are you using a case?
If so, try it with and without it.

It very well may be a hardware issue. It happened to me on my last SGH. When I got a new phone, I haven't experienced the issue.
Try getting a replacement with whoever you bought the phone from. I had my phone replaced via hardware warranty and not insurance, so I got it for free.

That's probably what I'll try. I bought it over the phone with at&t so I'm sure they will want me to send it in since they aren't selling the sgsII over the counter here in austin (they are pushing the skyrocket). Sucks to be without a phone for a week or so!

You'll keep your current phone until they mail you the replacement. Then you'll pack your old phone into the box and ship it off. Make sure you've flashed back to stock and removed any trace of root because if you don't you'll lose warranty.

It should be pretty easy to make a claim on faulty hardware when you do it online and send it in, I haven't had any issues with call quality or anything so I'd guess it's a hardware issue
also I've done this before, except I did it with insurance claim, and I'm pretty sure they sent it with like FedEx overnight shipping too so you wouldn't really be waiting either

Replacement on the way. Refurbished though which I guess should be fine if it works properly!

Between my wife and I we got 3 refurbished captivates. They all looked brand new. I think att has them do a really good job of refurbing them.

Had to get my original Captivate replaced. Wife still uses it, going strong with no problems.
I was told that a refurb may have new or refurbished internal parts, but an all new exterior case, screen, etc.
Right on!

I would rather have a refund than a phone someone already used and broke. I buy new, I expect new.
refurbs are often times just a new phone that they cannot sell as new because it was opened. No scratches or damages but its still new.
Refurbished phones right now are basically still new phones. Most of the refurbished phones were phones bought brand new and returned within the 30 day free-exchange period. Some people didnt like it and a lot of people returned it for the Skyrocket... so AT&T has to resell the phones as refurbished even though there was nothing wrong with it at all. So now is the time to buy a refurbished phone.
I got my Dad one last week and he got it on Thursday. Its completely brand new. Not a scratch or anything on it. He got it for $9.99 and its perfect.
of all the refurbs I ever received from AT&T, all of them looked new.
I was up to 4 Captivate refurbs last year and they all looked brand new.
Interesting, not having any call issues with my phone.

How to know your note is brand new and not refurb

ideas.............
It's too new for there to be refurbished devices in stock. So new, in fact, that a customer with an online ordered phone who came into our store last week was told that in order to get a warranty-provided phone, they'd have to place a $650 hold on a credit card till they received the defective phone.

that makes sense yes, I remember I saw a refurbished one on ebay but I guess that must have been the int'l one lol. I see you work at att, is there any code, key combination which tells you how long the note has been used for or nah?
None that I'm aware of.

I just bought one on ebay in pretty good condition for $375. You can get one for $400 easy if you don't mind a few scratches, the battery cover is always replaceable and takes care of more dents anyways.
I just found this one, wish I would have bought it.

There is a spot for buying/selling phones here. All related talk should be done there and not in the general forums, which is technically a punishable offense. Please check the marketplace and create a new thread there if one does not exist.

OEM LCD Panel / Digitizer Assembly?

Anyone happen to know where I can source one of these? Aside from buying a bricked phone and swapping them... I can't seem to find any online, and yes I've tried searching. My i777 took a 4 foot drop and landed screen side down on tile floor (and I use the Neo Hybrid case)... glass didn't break but LCD panel doesn't illuminate/show anything and it seems the assembly is 'all in one' and I can't get the LCD panel separately.

well, you can find most parts at globaldirectparts.com but to my knowledge it's out of stock
I think you should try to contact them and see if they can back order any
EDIT: since it's still 1 year you can send it to Samsung to replace it. same price or less and better servicing

Thanks for the tips. I'm gonna give them a call tomorrow. I had sensitive information stored on the internal memory, but I was able to blindly tap through and mount the phone on my pc and grab it off - so I'm going to take the lazy approach and see if they'll fix it. It's an easy fix, but if they'll fix it for cheaper then I may as well send it to them.
Perfect. Been needing a screen for months.

Warentee

Wondering how long a warentee is? Is it for the life of the contra t or just for like 60 days or what? My USB has been acting up and I cleaned it and its fine...even ordered one to replace it, but if I could exchange it I would...but don't know about warentee ****.

It's spelt warranty.
And I believe the manufacturer's warranty is one year. If it were for the life of the contract, everyone would be claiming the warranty after 2 years and get a brand-spanking new phone after 2 years, contract-free.
If I'm wrong i'll be flamed.

Looking around in a couple threads that you most likely glanced at would've answered ya question, as would a search.
And I wasnt aware of a device that DOESNT have spell check.
So sorry tool. Dont you have better things to do... your so cool.
I love people that are so cool on xda...and don't do anything accept try and put down everyone they can.... it realy is a sign that you don't feel good within. I don't have to be a good speller... I get paid allot money to build houses for people like you.

Good luck with your phone.

The phone was released last fall....
It depends on whether you bought a "new" device or a "refurb." They had that sale for a while for $10 refurbs, etc. If you bought as new you get one year. If you bought as refurb you get 90 days. When replaced you always get a refurb, with at least 90 days. So if you replaced new device the first month of having it you get until the one year mark. If you get another at the 11 month mark you get 90 days from the replacement, so it can extend past the year.

I agree that there is a lot of spoonfeeding going on which iirc is against xda rules. Technically this forum is for developers hence the name but they let us post and that posting gives us the responsibility of searching for questions first and to not just make our phone cool but learn how to make our phone cool.

When searching, try to be more descriptive in your terms.
your search is like searching for a pair of jeans at a levi's store.
