[Q] CM7DX2 no external sd card - Motorola Droid X2

just flashed CM7 for my DX2 and love it, but astro and some other file managers on my phone say there are no files on my external sd card. when i plug into my computer all of my files show up. please help.

CM7 uses the sdcard flip-flop. So your external sdcard is labeled "sdcard" and your internal sdcard is labeled "eMMC." The sdcard-ext folder is not used with cm7.

thank you so much. another question, do you know how to replace the battery icon with one that has a precentage? i have rom toolbox pro, but any battery i try to install says the files are not the same. is it safe to install those, or is there another way. this was my favorite part of liberty rom.

Go to CyanogenMod settings - interface - status bar tweaks - battery status style.

Not saving to sd card?

How do i get stuff to save to sd instead of internal memory? I see in root explorer /sdcard and /sdcard-ext which is my my sdcard.

It will ask you where you want to to save files to. Try going into the file manager.

I know what you mean - I don't see a way to do this by default across the board. Some apps let you choose the backup location and you'd have to type in the path you wrote above. Other than that, aside from some of the stock Moto apps that let you specify saving to the "SD Card" - which is actually the card, other apps will only identify the internal memory thinking it is the "SD Card".
I don't like how Moto made the internal memory identify itself as the SD Card.

Precisely what i mean. thanks.... Hmmm.... Kinda crappy that you can't change in most apps to automatically save to sd card. Kinda defeats the purpose of one.

Wait a sec... Sdcard-ext is the actual sd card? And the regular sdcard is the internal storage? Oooohh that explains alot then. I was so confused about that. For some reason I though the phone was partitioning the sd card into two... Woops lol

[Q] Strange SD Card issue?

When I got my X2, the first thing I did was insert a 16GB SD card (then loaded some files/folders I had backed up, such as apk's) I noticed when I installed ROM Manager (Still don't know why I did that, but...led to something) that when I went to "Install from SD" that ROM manager was seeing my internal memory, not my SD card. So...I just uninstalled ROM manager, thinking it a fluke. Well, I've noticed now that...say if I'm editing an icon and am looking for a picture, or I'm looking for a file in general, my X2 is saying my SD card is my Internal Storage and vice versa. Issue occurs on stock ROM, Eclipse, Atrix port, so I know it's not my ROM.
Any thoughts?
im looking for a similar solution. everything saves to the internal memory instead of the sd card. apps that are supposed to back up stuff to the sd card just do it to the internal memory. i can access the sd card from the phone so it reconizes the sd card. i asssumed it was an OS bug, but its still going on after gingerbread. really need help with this.
If you are running a current version of ATRIX port, alien or eclipse they all have the sd card flip-flop preinstalled on them. There is a thread in android dev subforum with a zip to go back. The stock x2 labels the storage in a different way I guess and the developers prefer to change it. We are just lucky they left a way to change it back.

This is the reason they made the hack to change it in the first place.

Cant access SD card on CM9 nightly

Yeasterday I finally flashed CM9 and so far I love it but I have a rather annoying problem: I can't mount and access SD card from file managers. On the other hand, apps that use SD card (PowerAmp, Titanium backup, Apollo, Gallery etc.) read data without a hitch.
Right now, the only way to access the SD card's files is to take it out my phone and put in computer...
Please help...
Edit: does it have something to do with the fact I replaced CM9 kernel with Siyah 3.3.1.?

on aosp roms, the external sd card is mounted as /emmc/ and not /sdcard/external_sd/ which is why that folder might appear empty in file explorers

[Q] SD Card Flip

Hey, I have eclipse installed and in doing so it automatically switched my sd card location. Internal is now external, and external is now internal. under settings I have selected install apps to internal sd card, which now means they are installing to my external card correct? Also when I got into settings to manage applications it shows hardly anything installed to the external card but that's because its.flipped right? Im just a little confused cuz if I ever want to sbf again I want to make sure they are installed to the real external card so I don't lose anything. So theoretically I should not use the option under settings to "move app to external card" because I would be moving it to the internal? Is there any other way to see if they are installed on my real external card? For example plugging in to a computer via usb and being able to see what's there?
Thanks in advance for any help.
one way to check is power off, remove sd card, reboot
if app still works its not on sd card

+1 cant you also just search for it on your sd card?
Lol guess I could... really just looking for confirmation that im doing it right... having internal selected as my storage location meaning everything is going to external.

Neutrino 2.9 emmc vs sdcard

Hi
I installed Neutrino 2.9gt rom. I have a 32gb sdcard in phone.
In stock rom apps used to install in 10gb part (old name sdcard) and sdcard was named as sdcard-ext . My media was in 32gb ext card. It was easier like this.
Now 10gb part is named as emmc and 32gb sdcard is named as sdcard. If i chose to intall apps to internal they are installed to 2gb reserved internal memory and if i chose to intall external apps are installed in 32gb external card.
So how can use this rom as stock roms . I want apps to be installed in 10gb part (newly emmc)
Thx in advance & sorry for grammer )
There should be an option somewhere in settings that says to use internal storage or something. Haven't used my atrix in a few months so I don't remember.

some roms/recoverys do mount sdcard as external sd or sd-ext. i have got very confused when i switched from one to the other.
Below the option to install apps is a checkbox saying Use Internal Storage. Its swaps emmc and SD card. So it should install to the 10gb as it is now the external memory.
Settings,cyanogenmod settings, application
D3 was right.

You never stated that it fails. You said it installs to the sd card but didn't mention anything else.
