[Q] Improve Start-Up Experience? Titan - HTC Titan

Do you know of a way to decrease the time it takes AT&T's TITAN to start-up?
When powering up, I go through three splash (a.k.a. boot) screens:
1) HTC 2) AT&T rethink possible 3)Windows Phone
I would like to speed up how long each of these screens are displayed (or eliminate one or more of them) to say time going from Off to the Lock Screen.
FYI: I'm not a developer and don't have access to Developer Tools
Thanks for Your Time!
Phone: HTC Titan PI39100
OS: Windows Phone 7.5 v. 7.10.7720.68
Firmware Revision No. 1600.2200.11004.502
Hardware Revision No. 0002
Bootloader v. 1.10.160015.3(132409)
Modifications: NONE

Unfortunately we can't do that without having an unlock (I don't know what level of unlock, but certainly higher than a developer unlock). The HTC logo can be overwritten with a flashing tool (but don't try it yet, I don't think any compatible flashing tool has been made yet).
Sit tight! If/when custom ROMs start popping up, the ability to flash over the HTC logo will soon follow.

HTC HD2 - Implementing Android

Please excuse my lack of experience on the matter.
But my main confusion comes from after a couple hours well of reading and yet still not quiet understanding.
I'm buying a HD2, but I'm interested in converting it over to the Android platform.
However after watching countless videos and reading endless posts - I think I've scared myself into a not knowing where to start now.
I initially came across some pretty cool links wish sounded helpful (and for the most seemed pretty straight forward)
<Examples>
youtube.com/watch?v=3gUwaJYWrdc
youtube.com/watch?v=Gqedm-sUBc8
youtube.com/watch?v=W6Thh-zHGgo
But then confusion after reading of things like finding out the best radio software suited to my region (which by the way is Trinidad), and HSPL3 and the ROM... I am wondering if I might just end up bricking my phone.
So I found out what the stuff means (as seen below) - but I'm still kinda well overwhelmed.
spl = Secondary Program Loader. Think of this in the same sense as bios on a pc. (it sets where your system boots from, intialises sub system process etc)
sspl = soft spl (this allows you to flash another spl or hardspl).
hardspl = hard spl .. basically it allows flashing of any rom. It protects you from bricking your device. If you have a bad flash it just forces the phone to load into bootloader, from where you can flash another rom using pc or storage card to get your phone working again. Using a hardspl you can flash any carrier rom without cid unlocking your device first.
radio is the part of the rom which manages the attena
Please if anyone is able to shed some light on the best way of me going about brining in the android OS to my HD2 - it would be greatly appreciated (given what ever the lastest most stable build would be)
Regards...
Also, whats the possibility of a dual boot straight from the phone?
people have reported that android works on stock roms so there might not be any need to flash a custom rom....... apparently a radio newer than 2.08.xx..... is required......
See this thread for that debate.....
Even if there is then all you need to do is follow the instructions in the Rom development section stickies and you cant really go wrong......
If you have a tmous hd2 then you might want to follow the instructions in the tmous section to avoid any potential radio mismatch problems......
Running android is as easy as putting a folder on your SD card and tapping two files in the right order........
Ok there might be quite a bit of trial and error in finding a build you like/works well....
And yes there are programs out there that will give you the option to choose between WM and Android on startup.....
personally I'd reccomend mskips version which you can find in the themes and apps section.........
Happy fiddling......
Thank you so much for the post and for the link you included to the guide.
I have seen a lot of useful information from just there alone. It's appreciated.
One thing I didn't quite follow however, was when you said 'tmous' hd2.
I'm assuming this is an abbreviation for a carrier of some sort?
The one I'm supposed to be getting is an unlocked version btw...
tmous = (T)-(Mo)bile (US) version as it has the 1GB ROM in it; the Euro version only has 512MB.

As br0adband said above, tmous just refers to the american version of the HD2,
its easy to spot as it has a big fat double chin, tmobile written under the earpiece and green/red buttons to dial/hangup.......
if thats the version that you end up with then you should make sure any rom/radio your flashing is "tmous compatible".......
the wrong radio can kill it....... just stay away from anything with ".51." in the name.....
Good luck for when it arrives...... expect a lot of late nights tweaking.......
if you are sure you'll use android, why do you buy a windows phone?
i think thats nonsense...
just buy a desire hd and be happy.

+1...That makes no sense. Unlike the rest of us, we bought the HD2 knowing what it was all about, then later found that Android would be possible later.
Buying HD2 a year later knowing that you want to convert to Android is silly. Or it is because the HD2 might be cheaper than the newer HTC Anroid phones?
You have missed most of the fun there was in seeing the HD2 develope; from custom ROMs, to Cookies Home Tab, to Android etc etc. Jumping in now after all the blood, sweat and (tears) has taken place probably wouldnt provide you with the same level as enjoyment as I believe that the HD2 is running out of steam. Although there is the possibilty of WPS7 on NAND plus Android to consider.
The main reason for opting for the HD2 is that the price is alot more reasonable for me at this time. The specs are obviously better on the Desire HD and while the original Desire also already has the android platform, their prices are a little more steep for me as they came out just this year alone.
So during my searching around I came across this thread titled:
[GUIDE]The ULTIMATE n00bs guide to the HD2-HardSPL, Android, ROMs, Radios and more!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808015
It seemed really detailed and what not - However, it clearly stated that it was solely for the T-Mobile (US Version) and not Internationally Unlocked ones.
Is there a similar thread where this might be found?
I don't see why it should be specific to the tmous, the only thing to watch out for is the potential radio mismatch... .

Ok so within the this time which I am still just eagerly anticipating the arrival of my HD2 (which by the way is my first smart phone ) - I've continued to read more threads and posts, but some confusion still seems to exists on the various topics for terms for me.
For instance - I seem pretty clear on the fact that getting an android build on my HD2 is as simple as picking a ROM and then extracting the files correctly to my SD card and run the CLRCAD & the Haret files. - So then why I am still so confused...?
I think the main reason stems from a fear of not wanting to destroy my first modernized phone.
But aside from the basic process I briefly stated above, I have no idea what would be required of me to make the best of my modd-ing procedure.
I have seen links including a 1GB data.img dowloand - what is this for exactly?
I have read and understood that there are advantages of implementing HSPL on your device - but how does it fit into the already 'simplified' 4 step process listed above whereby you just download, extract and run the 2 files?
(...further to that whats the difference between HSPL, HSPL2 & HSPL3 - aside from updated versions I assume, would there be a reason for opting to use an older version?)
How do I determine if I am going to need to change my Radio version from what would already be included within a ROM I select? - and similar to my HSPL inquiry
(What's the main difference between the radio versions?
Wouldn't the highest number [most recent version] be the best?)
Further random (yet related...) questions:
RUU - Would it be necessary or make modd-ing any easier?
cotulla - Is this a single developer or a developer group?
NAND - Is this basically the main memory which holds the OS? - If so is there an actual way to now startup with Android on the HD2 - without WM starting at all and without any user interaction what so ever?
And finally...
When I eventually get my HD2 in hand, is there any information or details specific from my phone, which if provided could make it a easier to receive help on my goal?
If someone takes time to answer my questions - Thanks much in advance!

ok, where to start..... lol
il answer briefly because im posting from my device.....
your 4 step process is solid. no problems there.
you cannot brick your device with android.
the data.img is basically a file that pretends to be the phones internal storage, so if you download the 1gb file when you run android your phone will think it has 1gb of internal storage (things will obviously just be stored on your sd card, it doesn't actually affect your devices memory)
theres not much point worrying about the radio until you get the device and see which one you have, chances are it wont need to be changed.
unless your changing the rom/radio you wont need to use hspl
cotulla is widely regarded as being the driving force behind these kind of things, obviously there were/are lots of talented people involved but cotulla is probably the name your most likely to see being mentioned.
ruu - software tool that alows you to flash a rom.
included with stock roms, custom roms require a custom ruu but it is usually bundled in with the rom
nand - you pretty much nailed it, its not yet available though
when you get the device post the info from the settings - about phone/software info
hope that helps and sorry if I missed anything.....
Thanks a lot for your response!

After my long anticipated wait - It has arrived.
Here are my initial specs:
OS version
5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)
Manilla version
2.5.20121412.2
ROM version
2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE
ROM date
04/28/10
Radio version
2.10.50.26
Protocol version
15.39.50.07U
Any advice?
Your Radio is above the minimum requirement for linux to boot so you're good to go. Download an android build you like the looks of from the Android Development section and extract the Android folder and place it in the root of your SD card.
Run CLRCAD then HaRET or get an android boot loader like THIS, THIS, or THIS to make the process easier.
Okay so after using my HD2 a bit on and off over the past 3 days or so - switching between Windows & Android, I'll summarize:
First off, the android build which I am currently running off of my sd card is:
darkstone HD2Froyo v1
Release date: 26.07.2010
Its pretty decent and all but, I have a problem that I keep on encountering and I'm not quite sure whether its just me (something I didn't figure out) or if its an incompatibly issue with my current WindMo ROM (2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE) or something. Or maybe just a glitch / bug in the build itself
I can't seem to get back access to my desktop at times once I open a browser (or some other apps / games as well); even after I attempt to close it off.
...One just simply reopens once I close off the last one...
This inability to regain access to my desktop at that point means I have no further access to any further applications either unless I start over. (or unless its an app which was previously opened - as I can then hold down the home button to see recently (previously) opened apps.
I'm wondering if I should try another build? (any suggested ones?! / any known problems with this build)
Also as my version is an unlocked T-mobile phone - would it be wise to follow through with an upgrade on the ROM from T-mobile's site?
T-Mobile HD2 MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1)
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobi....aspx?pid=leo2
EDIT:
I'm also the following message constantly and I'm thinking it might have something to do with the problem I'm getting.
This version of LauncherPro Beta has expired. Please go to http://www.launcherpro.com/ to get the latest version.
No suggestions...
I was simply copping some music across from my pc to HD2 with ActiveSync and I think I didn't d/c properly. Now my HD2 won't start up.
It just freezes on the Stick Together screen
(which contains the ROM, Radio info below)
I attempted to reset with the small red button, I tried pulling the battery completely. It still just comes back to that screen once I place the battery back in and FREEZES.
Attempted to go into bootloader by:
Taking out the battery. Placing it back in.
Press volume down, while pressed press the power button.
The colored screen comes up:
PBB1120 SS-B3
SPL-2.10.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
Someone please HELP!

HTC Mozart 7 : Available update: HTC Update for Windows Phone (from 7.0.7392)

I have a HTC Mozart 7, ROM Asia, jailbreak with chevronwp7, and upgraded sd-card to 32 GB, used in Thailand, and updated to the last 7.0.7392. Today, 23/07/2011, when I pluged it into my PC and run the Zune. it's ask me for update from HTC. After, I finished the update, my firmware still be 7.0.7392. I can't see anything different from the previous usage. But, I can notice that the change is concern about version of software for HTC itself in settings->about menu.
Before:
Firmware revision number: 2250.09.12902.707
Radio software version: 5.51.09.06_22.30.50.09U
Bootloader version: 1.26.2250.1(111641)
After:
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.13301.707
Radio software version: 5.65.09.25_22.45.50.21U
Bootloader version: 1.33.2250.1(123643)
** and I still can use Tom XAP, Application Deployment, or XAPDeployX to install any .xap file as normal jailbreak as same as before doing the update.
anyone has noticed another changing?
The 7.0.7392 is the WP7 OS version.
These updates have been rolling to several WP7 phones and updates hardware drivers that communicate with the OS itself, improving several general aspects but it does not include any OS update.
Yep. I think so. The Update from HTC is only for update its software/driver version.
has anyone with T-Mobile Germany HTC Mozart original or flashed HTC Europe recieved this yet?
probelm with my new mozart 7
enyone help me..
i have update my mozrt
but want i update its my pc was shutdown
then my mozart can not open..
can you enter to boot loader menu? by pressing volume down (-) and press the power button. (two button togetter, until it open) if you can see the boot loader screen. (colorfull). I think you can find the Mozart ROM and re-flash it again follow your location.

Issues/Bugs - may or may not affect all of us
1) I have issues with voice quality of Titan, do you have it?
Some users have reported it for some handsets. Generally one of the solution that has worked is covering the top-mic with a finger. This mic is intended for voice correction but at times makes conversation muffled. Try that. If that doesn't work, we don't know more solutions yet. Try these threads-

Unlocking and custom ROMs
Understand Windows Phone unlocking first
1) Can I unlock Titan?
Chevron method - no more unless you have a token. - http://labs.chevronwp7.com/
Developer unlock - $99 - http://create.msdn.com/en-US/
Student developer unlock - free - https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx
Flashing a custom ROM - voids warrantly but give FULL unlock (for details keep reading).
All of the above will let you sideload apps with usual limitations in number of apps you can sideload (3 for student, 10 for other two).
However, certain apps that need Interop capabilities won't be able to sideload.
2) Can I Interop Unlock Titan?
Yes - full unlock with interop unlock by flashing custom ROM.
However if you don't want to flash a custom ROM, there isn't one for stock ROM yet. Follow these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1407652
3) Are there any custom ROMs for Titan?
Yes at the moment there are 3 excellent ROMs (as of 5th June 2012). Please donate for the first HSPL + Full ROM on the bounty thread.
There is a bounty thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445304
4) Can I force update my Titan?
Yes but please read the thread first - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1306415
5) Can I SIM unlock my Titan?
Yes possibly - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379252
How to flash a custom ROM on my Titan?
At the moment things are a little tricky for AT&T customers, but not impossible. A detailed step-by-step debranding, HSPL instructions guide is this one.
All other Titans are easy to flash, but be careful. It is totally your own risk to take. First we need to flash SPL on your phone. Then HSPL and then phone is ready to run custom ROMs. I will try and break it down for you in brief.
Use this excellent thread for DFT HSPL
Follow the instructions for Titan.
You can enter bootloader mode by first switching off your phone. Then press vol + and vol - keys together with power on button. Once the phone starts with white screen and letters in green, blue and red you know you are in bootloader.
Now connect the phone with cable to your PC. Wait for the PC to install drivers. It will tell you once it has successfully installed everything.
Then when it says 'Run SPL' you literally need to click on the "ROMUpdateUtility" - usually about 1.4 or 1.5 kB in size. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS CHARGED AS INSTRUCTED AND STAYS CONNECTED TO LAPTOP AT ALL TIMES.
Once your SPL is flashed, you need to do the same with HSPL. Then same with custom ROM. In each of these folders you will find "ROMUpdateUtility" that you need to run one after the other. It's that easy!
List of custom ROMs [updated 5th June 2012]
Before flashing any custom ROM, please make sure you have correct RADIOs installed as indicated for each ROM thread. Without correct radio, you will not be able to go beyond HTC Screen.
I'm stuck at RADIO 16 or RADIO 17 - what can I do to be able to flash whatever radio I like?!
You are most likely stuck on SPL2.5. Go to HTC website and download SPL 2.6 - follow the instructions on that page. Once you have downloaded it, remove SPL and get DFT HSPL on your Titan. Now you will be able to swap to either radio 16 or 17 - your choice!

Was Original_ganjaman's idea (mod) from yesterday I think. Saw it this afternoon, thought it will help a lot in future if we do happen to grow as a larger community!
Nice job drupad2drupad, thats exactly what i was after. Hopefully this should reduce pointless threads, and keep this great forum clean! If anybody sees a threads that has been covered here, please report it or PM me. It will be closed.

AT & T wanted Titan rom Europe?
Goldcard can do?
Thank a lot!
First of all, the OS version does *not* matter here, it's all about the firmware version or bootloader version.
Second, "jailbreak" is a very ambiguous term on WP7, and one I really wish people wouldn't use, because there are multiple levels of unlocking.
The first, developer-unlock, is actually a feature of the OS and is supported by Microsoft. All phones can be dev-unlocked, but normally you have to pay for it (an AppHub account, intended for Marketplace developers, lets you unlock up to 3 phones and install up to 10 unsigned apps on each, for $99/year). Students can get a free account through DreamSpark, but only for one phone and up to three unsigned apps at once. There's another way, for $9 a ChevronWP7 Labs token lets you unlock one phone and put up to 10 unsigned apps on it. Unfortunately, those tokens are sold out and we have heard nothing on them getting any more (had to be approved by Microsoft). There are also some hacks that will dev-unlock a phone, such as WindowBreak (this thread). There aren't currently any such hacks available for HTC, though.
Next, there's interop-unlock. This means removing the 3- or 10-app limit, and also allowing the installation of apps that can use system components (drivers and long-running services) to break out of their sandboxes. These apps, commonly called "interop" apps after the ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES line in their manifests' that enables this capability, include things like registry editors and the HtcRoot project. All ways of getting interop-unlock are based on hacks. For Samsung phones, WindowBreak can be used to interop-unlock at the same time as dev-unlock. For HTC phones, though, you need to first be dev-unlocked before you can interop-unlock.
The third level is called "full unlock" and means the policy system that controls app sandboxing and user permissions has been disabled completely. Any app can run, and all apps run with full access to the whole device. Although this heightens the risk of malware or o accidentally damaging the device, it also allows all kinds of cool features to be added right into the phone, as well as enabling some very cool apps (including ports of WinMo apps). Currently, the only way to get full-unlock is to use a custom ROM.
In order to use a custom ROM, your device must have an unlocked bootloader. This is done by installing an alternate bootloader called RSPL, and can be made permanent by installing HSPL. You can read the DFT (Dark Forces Team, who are responsible, directly or indirectly, for almost all custom ROM achievements on WP7) threads on R/HSPL on this forum. Although all first-gen HTC phones are now supported for xSPL, be aware that it can only be installed over stock SPL (bootloader). Most fully up-to-date phones will be running SPL x.x.
For you, in particular, you can either try interop-unlocking, or you can try installing an unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM. The first option preserves your phone data, but is less permissive in what you can do. The second option allows almost anything, but you'll have to wipe the phone and will also be at the mercy of any bugs in the custom ROMs. Additionally, either option may require rolling back the phone in some way (firmware for interop-unlock, SPL for bootloader unlock), and interop-unlock will require first getting dev-unlock (may cost money).
Thanks GoodDayToDie
^^ Thats the first explanation I have heard about all the unlocking options available for WP7. God knows Ive looked, but it seems that every piece of easily understandable (for the WP noob) information is buried within some techno jargon that doesn't have a glossary of terms...
It seemed that If I had a different phone I could unlock, but i never really understood why.
Thanks.
Best explanation of wp7 unlocking! Thanks!
Thank you ...
been the subject of a beautiful
Very good explanation from a fellow HD2 owner. Don't just say thanks, press the thanks button. He deserves it
Thanks for the great explanation. Coming from iOS it's very helpful to find all important terms in one go.
Will try and keep up with the custom ROM releases and maintain a list in the sticky. Updated contents today.

Unlocking and custom ROMs
Understand Windows Phone unlocking first
1) Can I unlock Titan?
Chevron method - no more unless you have a token. - http://labs.chevronwp7.com/
Developer unlock - $99 - http://create.msdn.com/en-US/
Student developer unlock - free - https://www.dreamspark.com/default.aspx
[*]Flash a custom ROM - voids warrantly but give FULL unlock (for deteails keep reading).

Great post!
I think it would be great to point out that the ROM from nhathoa is the only one that works in Titans with "locked" radio like me, for thoe of us that couldn't update it.
Hi.
I Installed the DFT Custom Rom.
After that , When i Connect the phone to my Car Bluetooth Receiver, my Contacts are not transfer to it.
but before the Custom-Rom it was worked.
(sorry for my poor English)

[Q] Nothing will work to unlock mt HTC 7

I have Been trying to get my HTC Mozart Rom fully unlocked or even interop unlocked however i just get errors every time i attempt to run Rom update utility.
I run Windows 7, have mobile device centre and activesync as well as zune e.c.t..
I usually get the 294 error at 3% meaning it is the incorrect RUU, when i do find the correct one it never gets past 0%.
Interop unlock also does not work. I attempted to download and load it under connection set up e.c.t.. and it does not work. stays fully locked, although i am developer unlocked thats not enough for what i want.
Any sort of help on how to do either unlock would be appreciated. Details of my device is below.
HTC MOZART (Developer unlocked) and Network Unlocked. From United Kingdom
OS version: 7.10.8773.98
Firmware number: 2250.21.51201.206
Radio software: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Bootloader version: 5.12.2250.1
Hope you guys can help or at least point me in the right direction. I have followed many tutorials on this site for other mobiles but it appears this HTC Mozart is annoying.
Thanks

[Q] 7.10.8112.7 failure. Continually Rebooting. Phone not working

I had a reliable debranded Mozart which has been unlocked by Orange in the UK and was running the ansar rom. It has accepted many updates in the post (post debranding) via Zune.
Unfortunately the 7.10.8112.7 update was problematic with error codes C1010007 and then C101002E.
I am left with a useless phone. I have done a factory reset to no avail.
The phone will boot into wp7.5 and sometimes holds for a few minutes before rebooting. Other times it gets into a loop while booting and ends up vibrating 7 times.
Any ideas anyone?
Is a fresh rom likely to help and if so which one?
I am currently showing:
OS 7.10.8107.79
Firmware 2250.21.51201.401
HW Rev 0004
SPL 5.12.2250.1
Thanks in advance
An Update
I have now dne a successful factory reset. Achieved this by leaving the battery out over night. I have been here before and am pretty sure that I will struggle to apply the above update.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Like many other Users of that fu**ed Phone !
Iv got 2 of that Mozarts, one with the reboot and second without.
Its a Hardware Problem. Both Phones have the same ROM , changing Batteries ,changing SDCard, no Matter
it stays; the first reboots , the second never...
Update on Rebooting
Here is an update of my rebooting issue:
Following a factory reset (battery left out overnight) the phone is not longer rebooting PROVIDED THAT ID DO NOT CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK OR ATTEMPT TO APPLY AN UPDATE VAI ZUNE.
I am also able to get into the bootloader (spl5.12.2250.1) and establish a USB connection.
I do not want to mess with rolling back the bootloader as that seems to be a very high risk undertaking.
My suspicion is that a fresh rom installation may sort the problem as it only appeared after applying an update.
So can anyone suggest options for updating to a new reliable rom which will not consume excessive battery life - or at least point me in the right direction for one which is compatible with my current spl.
Thanks in advance.

Dear,
It seems that during update you phone might have low battery or update is interrupted.
You can install offical rom containing 201 search in file factory.
Otherwise go with the below, but you will need to downgrade your spl which is a lengthy process.

Update to my last update
Thanks for your reply adeebulrehman
1. In your opinion, what are the merits of each of the two roms you suggest?
2. Can you suggest where I download the official rom safely?
3. Can you point me in the right direction for some safe and reliable spl downgrade instructions?
Many thanks
