MX Video player "Unsupported device" ? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed ICS build 6, and mx video player doesn't open. It gives the message "unsupported device" and closes.

I really would like to use mx video player. the other video players don't hold the candle to MX video player.

Same issue with ICS 4.0.4 on Galaxy Nexus LTE. Was fine on 4.0.2.

Tell me, did you use Titanium Backup to restore MX Video Player?
I decided to remove Mx Video completely [including codec] and I reinstalled from the market, and it fixed everything! Worth a shot. Tell me if this also works for ya

Good man! I had tried just removing MX's data via Ti, which still didn't work. But upon your comment, I tried uninstalling, then just restoring the app only via Ti and it's good again!

edit: this was before you replied, and before I got it working:
That's good! I emailed the MX Video dev, they asked for a logcat. So then then said it was a cyanogenmod bug.
So I was stuck without a video player [Stock movie app cannot seek large h.264 MP4, it FC (ICS build 6)]. I got pretty tired of that fast, and I seemed to remember other people saying about other apps "reinstall from the market".
But I wonder why you have to uninstall it first?

i downloaded a .mp4 video to my aria, but it said that it could not play it... i checked the android developer site for compatible formats, and i saw that this format was listed there... any ideas as to why it may not be playing?
thanks

My Aria can play mp4 format videos by itself, but since you have no luck in playing it, just download and install the rockplayer. It can play many more formats than the phone alone can play.

RockPlayer is great. Another good option is QQPlayer.
with the rockplayer, i had trouble with it sychronizing the music and the video. for the qqplayer, i keep on getting a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError

Try using the VPlayer. I hope it will solve your problem.
+1 for QQ player

weird... i found VPlayer (Free Trial) on my computer on the droid market, but not on my phone market... anyways, it says that the program is not compatible with my device. now that i think of it, i guess that is why it isn't showing up on my phone
any other suggestions? it seems like it doens't like these bigger files. i will even get codec format not supported. i try a 111mb video, and it force closes...

What android version do you have? Do you have the official 2.2 or stock 2.1? Or did you use Cyanogen mod to update? The Aria is capable of playing mp4 videos on its own as I said in my first post.

I can second that. I actually convert my avi files to mp4 before putting them on my phone. Its avi I had a problem with, mp4 has always worked on the aria.

The Aria requires very specific specifications for MP4, or else it will not play.
Try using Handbrake and follow closely with these instructions.

lol, this is probably the problem...
it seems to work, just a little sluggish :/
Rockplayer tries hard to play the video, but plays it extremely sluggish, like 1 frame per second or so.
Try yxplayer it works fine ...

I tried different players and saw that most of the players work the same way. They all play the same files and cannot play the other ones.
Except Moboplayer, which played a 900mb AVI file very well, with synchronized audio, video and subs.
So it seems Moboplayer is a good option. Although on Aria it's a >10mb phone memory hog.
+1 vplayer

Problem with video content

I have a problem with playing video content on my Prime. i use the ES File Manager and MX Video player Pro. all the time the video launches fine and closes on its own after several seconds. this happens using video content with different codec. i actualy have 2 Primes and i have the same issue on both of them...is there any ideas what could be wrong?
i will try other players to see the differences.
any feedback is welcomed.
I use the stock File Manager, it does everything I need it to, so I haven't downloaded any other file managing app. Is there something the stock one lacks that I can gain by using ES or any other app?
As for video playback problem, I used to use MX Video Player and it worked for a couple days then started force crashing like you said. I rebooted, but that didn't alleviate the problem, so I just uninstalled and downloaded Dice Player. It's been working great for me and I watch a few TV episodes and movies a day. Give it a try I'd rate it at least a 4.5/5.

the ES manager is working fine and i prefer it because all my video, music, docs libraries are on my NAS.
i will definitively try the Dice Player as i heard its good from other sources as well.
thanks for feedback.
The DicePlayer worked fine for me. Hope the MX video player pro will get fixed
Thanks mate.

I use ES File Explorer (to view my shares on my network) and MX Video Player Pro. They work good together and I have not had an issue. Are you using the free MX video or paid version?

Dice Player problems (NO Video)

Anybody else having trouble with Dice Player after updating to ICS? When I try to play a video, I will get audio only, but no video.
I tried rebooting my tab, and then I got a couple of videos to play once, but the next time I try, it goes back audio only.
I hope there's a fix for this because I use my tab a lot for videos.
Thanks.

[Q] SlimBean 2.4 i9100 - MX Player (video codecs)

Hello,
I have an i9100 running Slimbean 2.4. I have an issue playing back video files. Slimbean 2.4 does not come with a video player, so I installed MX Player, but even via the ARMv7 codec it does not play any files.
I have tried MX Player on the i9100 using CM10 nightly, NeatRom, and Samsung original (rooted), and here it plays the files without an issue.
I tried to move the Video Player from the Samsung stock to SlimBean, but of course this failed horribly.
Any advice?

Download Dice player or Bsplayer. Both are very good and works well in Jellybean with any need for any codec again.
Mxplayer is good but is note m not that compatible with Jellybean.

Thanks for the app recommendations, I will try them, since right now I am using a V Player. I think it was called V Player, but I tried so many and most do not offer good software decoding or proper hardware decoding.
However, MX Player was updated a few days ago to support Jelly Bean. And again if it works in CM10, which is JB based, then it should work in SlimBean... or not?

Yeah! But it still doesn't work well for me even after the so called update.
Those apps i recommended use their own integrated hw accelerated codecs even on AOSP ROMs and therefore will not freeze your phone unlike players like Vplayer or Mxplayer, that works with their own sw accelerated codecs alone.

Thanks for the advice. I tried both DICE and BS Player, the UI on BS is a bit to big and clunky for me, so I seltted on DICE. After trying it for a few hours, DICE has certainly become my favourite new player. I will even start using it on my other Android devices.
Again, thanks for the help!
My God, DICE player is so very good!!
Thanks for the suggestion - very impressed with the pop-out video play!
For popup up video play use super video(but if mx does not work super wont work either)
Basically it has better pop up features
Free version can play 2 popups simultaneously
Full version can play more than that
DICE is the best(it even allows fast forward(2x speed)like VLC on mobile)

[Q] Samsung video not working after 4.4.4 update.

Anybody else experiencing this? I get the " Samsung video player has stopped" message when trying to open the app.
Hmmm..I can play any video file I open, I just can't open the video player app.

What video player are you tryung to open.. my video?
Stock Samsung video player. I've cleared the cache and data within the application and still no dice..I really don't want to have to do a factory reset, not rooted (no titanium backup) and have WAY too much stuff I'd lose.

I never use the stock video player, MX player is the best one out there. Give it a try.
Thanks for the replies guys...I figured it out, a corrupt video file was keeping the app from opening! Duuuuhhhh lol
