Seems like voice search is turned on lol... Are you rooted? Is the phone brand ass new lol ?
Never heard of the issue? What hboot are you 1.5? What software are you on 2.08 or 2.17?

its a new phone with htc updates not rooted and this is really weird. No matter what browser i use it activates the stupid google voice search and closes my browser. Is there a way to disable the voice search? Or is this phone toast?

There should be I am tryin to figure out why the search would be stuck on that is the part im kinda stumped on.. Never had that search part come on by it's self....
Only way I can turn google voice on in the browser such as you described is to hit the search button in the corner soft key and hit the micro phone in the top right corner of the screen while on the net...
I would try a factory reset.... Do you have any funky 3rd party apps running? From the market like free ones that have permission's they shouldn't have?

You're not accidentally holding the search key are you?

Lol that's what I was getting tooo. Hope that is all it was .. I dunno why it would FC the browser tho... Unless you hold it down and it doesn't know what to do if it keeps tryin to open so it closes everything... If that's not it then it could be a 3rd party app or a factory reset is needed.....
I tried to do it to mine.... Only way I could get voice search to pop up was to hit search button and hit the micro phone in the corner...

Try
Settings/search/searchable items. Then uncheck "voice search" and see if that helps any. If not then try cleaning data on voice search and stock browser to see if it will help any. Also depending on what keyboard you use you could look in the keyboard settings to put the "voice search" option on the symbols keyboard or disable it. Hope this helps.

Well the way i hold the phone is right hand near the camera area and left hand near the volume area. And when i open a browser and go to Craigslist for example eventually very quickly this dam Google voice thing pops up and shut my browser down. Perhaps theirs a short on the phone and it triggers this voice crap or its a setting. But my phone is stock and i did a factory reset and it still does it. Guess this evo i got is buggy. Not a clue what it could be.

What I suggested can be done on stock/unrooted rom.

Anyone know how to change the volume of the key presses on FlexT9? It's super loud. I still want it to "click" when I press a key, just probably 20% of how loud it is now.

[Q] Molten ROM Voice Search Activates Screen Grabber

I've had Molten 2.1 since the day ryman released it, and it's running great but, just realized that when I hold down the search button ScreenGrabber is activated rather than Voice Search.
I flashed it over stock GB 2.3.4.
I checked ScreenGrabber for any options to disable this but there are none.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
And thanks to ryman for the awesome ROM. It runs great.

I think he is referring to the actual hardware button
I think the solution would be to just tap the button, not hold.

Yeah. When you hold down search button on the phone (actual hard button) it opens up screen grabber. I like it though.

Have you tried going to settings, applications, and browse the all tab for screengrabber. select it and pick clear defaults. See if that helps, I have yet to try Molten, don't know if this will help/work. Good Luck

Sorry for the late reply.
In stock and previous versions of Molten, when I press and hold the Search hard button, it would open Voice Commands. As someone mentioned, it's great for driving and being lazy. Currently, it opens up screengrabber.
You cannot clear the defaults on screengrabber. I backed it up and uninstalled it with TB. That is a crappy work around but it does work. Although, it doesn't work with a Bluetooth hands free device. Pressing the search key used to open voice commands, now it simply calls back your most recent call.
I haven't had time to flash M2.2 but I will. Thanks again for the help!

[Q] Help with s-voice

Okay, so my s-voice won't do anything? I say "call mom home" it prints the words I front of me & does nothing? Same thing when I give it a math problem, launch an app, or anything at all? Do I need a replacement or am I doing something wrong? I actually use voice commands alot!
Ok go to settings, application manager, on the top click all find S-voice hit it the click clear data. Hit thanks if this helps!

Clearing data worked & factory reset has worked once alsw, but I don't know why it keeps happening?
Samsung really needs to get their act together with S-Voice. Their software development on this was rushed, and it shows. S-Voice often stops working and requires clearing the App data, and even when it works, the app's inability to understand variation in syntax makes it far more limited than Apple's Siri.
I also notice that when I do a Google search using S-Voice, the web search is done through a Samsung sponsored adsense account, so it's evident that S-Voice is mainly an attempt by Samsung to monetize their users' google searches rather than an earnest effort to improve user experience.
The Galaxy S3 is great phone overall, but I hope Samsung comes out with an S-Voice update that will do this phone justice. Meanwhile, I'd love to be able to replace the double-click home button with Google Search instead of S-Voice.
However, at least I can access vanilla Google search quickly with a long-hold on the capacitive menu button.
I haven't had a problem with it yet. It sometimes gets mixed up and doesn't know what I say.

Lol I was having problems with S-Voice on my International SGS III understanding my words until I changed it from "English UK" to "English US" very odd indeed...
I'm running SVoice on my SGS2 with no problems and it's not even for our phone.
I wonder why you guys are having issues with it?
Powered by the SGSII
only problem i've had is while driving it will pick up the road noise and not end the voice command entry automatically, also if there is too much road noise the app will not audibly alert as it stops if it hears any sound
While not too surprised by it, the performance while driving leaves S-Voice worthless to me. If my window is down, I pretty much can't use it.
Also, I tried using it to launch Waze... it prints the correct name, but then says it can't find the app. I have yet to get it to open a non-default app.

I agree 100%! I use voice commands a lot, and mostly in the car is when I use them. That's the only time you ever NEED hands free control over the phone, and yet it's almost worthless in the car! I have to roll up the windows, close the sunroof, and if the AC is on you can for get it, lol. I think I'm gonna try the original vlingo app I've always used, because I know they are behind svoices software, but it worked better when I downloaded it to replace the Samsung tinkered vlingo on my s2. It could possibly be that the mic on the gs3 is very sensitive though? None the less, every phone has some apps that I don't care for.

"My Location" button in Maps

I apologize if this question has already been addressed, but I can't find any info on it, and am not sure if this is a "just me" situation.
On my DInc OG, using Google Maps, I could press the "My Location" button to have it find me and center my location on screen. A second press would change the view into an angled thing almost like Navigation, but with no turn-by-turn or voice-over. It would follow my location, however, just like Navigation does.
I now have a DInc4G, and the same FIRST press of the "My Location" button does the same thing, but the second press does NOTHING. Am I imagining things, or has that functionality been somehow removed? I really miss it and I'm dying to know more about it.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Thanks for the confirmation. Okay, I just want to understand this. Has the functionality been removed by Verizon (Verizon-modified apk) or is this an Ice Cream Sandwich modification, or is this an update to Google Maps? I know it doesn't matter in the long run, but it's kinda pissing me off. Argh.

True, but there lots of apps that are modified by the carrier and then pre-installed on the handset such that you can't fully remove them. (I guess that's two issues right there) Anyway, on my Asus Transformer OG, the Google Maps functionality of which I seek is present. And that's stock ICS, updated from Honeycomb.
I'll keep digging, but if anyone else can confirm either way on this, please chime in! Thanks!!

Maps is indeed pre-installed on the Dinc4g and cannot be fully uninstalled without root. I just tried disabling it and installing fresh from Google Play, but the market knows its installed and will only allow an update. (Installing the update takes Maps off of the disabled list, too)

Set Samsung Voice Command as default?

In previous versions of the Shostock ICS ROM, when I used voice commands with my Blueant Q2 headset, it automatically used Samsung Voice Command for making hands-free calls (worked great). But since I upgraded to 4.1.4, it defaults to Google Voice Dialer and then doesn't work. I can't find GVD in the applications list to deactivate nor can I find a way to make SVC the default.
Shoman didn't have any idea about the problem.
Can someone help?
Thanks in advance.
I think shoman misunderstood your original question when he responded about installing SVC yourself, but you only gave him a couple hours to respond to your clarification about setting the default before you posted over here.
Which voice command pops up for you now when you press the search button on the phone? The Google Now one that has "Search, or say Google" in the search bar or a different one?

When I press the button my Blueant Q2 headset, the Google Voice Dialer pops up. The little red circle to the right of Google then has a never-ending circling line and GVD never seems to engage.
I want SVC to pop up, not GVD.
Does that help? Can you help?
BTW, I just upgraded to Shostock 4.1.4.
Gotcha. I think I understand. Have you tried a long press on your phone's search button to pop up all search/dial options and set Samsung's to default?

When I press the Search button, Google Now popped up, but I told it "Maybe Later."
I just tried long pressing Search, per your suggestion, and set Samsung Voice Talk as the default. After that, when I long press Search SVC comes up. But when I use my headset, GVD still pops up.
Other ideas?
I do appreciate the help...
After messing around some, this seems to be a problem with 4.1.4. I use AVX as my default and hadn't gotten around to reinstalling it since I flashed shoman's latest. After restoring it, I set it to default and am having the same exact deal as you, a press on the search button opens Google Now but my headset starts the Google dialer with the spinning red circle even though my default is set to something else. A long press on the search button will open my default, though.
Just flashed back to 4.1.2 and the problem persisted, so it isn't the latest version of the Shostock ROM.
So what has changed? I don't know. But being able to voice dial while driving is essential for me and I can't do it now.
Thoughts?

It's more than that. Before Google Now, a press on the phone's search button opened whatever your default was set to (same as a long press on my Plantronics set). Now, a press always opens Google Now's search, and a long press opens your default. I could live with that, but our headsets now always open up neither, it starts the old google voice command. Pretty funky.

Hardly an "epic fail" on your part given the awesome ROM that you have created.
Any solution?
I restored back to 4.1.1 and it works great. As I need hands-free, I'll stick with that until this problem gets ironed out (or you create a JB ROM!).
