Hi XDA users
im having an issue where the music i store inside the microsd is not scanned and played by google music player preinstalled in the tablet. Is there any way around this? only the music stored in the internal memory of the tablet is scanned and played. please help me with this! thank you! =)
I can't even get that. It doesn't find any of my music.
and the settings are a joke. there are no options to select, just shows help, the license and version number.
Are there any good (free) music player programs out there.
Cube (³) is pretty nice, try that. Some minor issues with the playlists still occur, but the widgets are nice and the player itself has some neat features.

I have the same issue. I have music stored on my SD card and in the cloud, but when I load up the Google player it seems to just display what is in the cloud and has very limited capabilities.

I was exploring the possibility of using the GTab as a music player in my car. While trying this out, I discovered that when the music (WMAs) is on a 16GB (Class 2) card, GTab will not find the music. The music, however, is there and I can find and play the tracks via iFilemanger or Sniffer but usually will show as Unknown Artist/Album.
When those same music tracks are placed on a 4GB Card, GTab finds them just find and all details show in the music player. For S&Gs I ripped two albums to MP3 and loaded them onto the 16GB card, GTab finds them with no problem.
I have tried WinAmp, Zimly and the basic stock music player. Currently running TNT Lite 4.2.5.
Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated.

I havent tried that but I suspect depending on how much music you have, that the scanner isn't finding the music or isn't done scanning when you attempt to play it. The scanning process seems to be universal somehow and most players depend on it. Maybe it builds a temporary database of some sort? No clue - devs would maybe know that.
I use several apps, Doubletwist, Mixzing and Winamp in addition to the Music player and of them all, only Doubletwist seems to work independently of the scanner and always sees and plays the music. There are times when the others will see but can't play anything.
Also, it's not so great a device for playing music long term as after a while for some reason you get some "time jumps" in music. Thats how I refer to it because it's definitely not skipping. It will jump to the previous song, then back to the one currently playing, then to the next, then all the way back to the one it started time jumping on. It does this usually when I suspect there's some clocking down going on inside. Never when I just start the music or soon after....generally hours later.

Do you have a .nomedia file somewhere in the root of your 16gb card or in your music directory? It might be causing the gtab to skip the scan of your card. Not having the .nomedia file though will erase any videos on your card so i would suggest placing the .nomedia file in your video directory but keep it out of your music folder.
I was hoping to do something similar and use the gtab as a car music player and have a 500 GB portable drive plugged in to it to give me something similar to the Archos 5 internet tablet for music playback but I can't seem to find a good way to do this
I have never had good results with wma files. I suggest converting them to mp3. Mixing, stock, cubed, they always played them weird and had missing tags and data when viewed. Convert to native mp3 support and save yourself tons at hassle.
Oh and +1 for power amp. The full mixing board and pre amp along with the ability to save settings and apply settings to specific songs and albums is mind blowing. The album art downloader is sweet too. Realy hard to go back to any other player. They had my money within 2days of the trial period.

Thanks for the lead on PowerAmp, nice app and found the music right away. Interestingly, after adding nearly 8 gigs of music to the card, the libaray found all of the tracks.

Putting the .nomedia folder into a folder called Video cured my scan issues on the 16gb SD card.
I never had a problem with either of the VEGANtab versions, when I reverted back to Stock 4349 I had trouble.

anyone know of any music apps that will sort the music by different folders that have my music in (rap, rock, grateful dead, etc...) Mort music player does this but i cant get it to load music from internal and external sd card its just one or other

Player Pro does this.
Agreed +1 on player pro (current player with sense skin)
Also use the folder option as well...so that option won me over entirely
I think there is like one more player that offers a folder option (trust me I went through them ALL) but cant think of it to save my life...might of been miui player??? idk?? dont hold me to it...
I think Mixing had folder option as well. I started using Player Pro a couple years ago and never looked back.

It has a nice interface, but messing with the EQ too much causes it to hang. And if music is playing, you can't control it in any way, the only solution is to force close the app.
I usually just use Amazon MP3 to play music. The stock Blur player leaves a lot to be desired, and Google Music doesn't (seem to?) differentiate between cloud and local playback. With Amazon MP3 it's real easy. Plus, I buy music from them and I've ripped and uploaded my CDs to their cloud (and to Google's, it's nice to have options, heh). It isn't a great player, but it's reliable. And while I enjoy music, I don't play it on my phone often enough to need a fancy player.

With the addition of space in Dropbox when you buy this phone, I am searching for the best system to implement for my phone. Ideally I would like to just place music files in Dropbox and have those files automatically saved on my SD card. This would give me instant access to my songs from my phone and computer and be a backup in case my computer crashes.
So I throw this out to you guys and ask how you best implement music on your phone keeping these three things in mind:
1. Download a song and listen from your computer or phone
2. Songs saved on memory card to free up space
3. All music is backed up in case your computer crashes.

This. I'm in the process of ripping my 600+ CD collection to MP3. Google Play Music automatically finds the new stuff and uploads it. Then I can play songs on any device without having to carry a card or drive around, and have taken up no hard drive or SD card space. :thumbup:
Google Music in conjunction with an SD card.
I keep a small amount of music on my SD card, mostly just stuff that I'm likely to listen to at any given time.
I store EVERYTHING on Google Music; I currently have 4565 songs uploaded to the service. It requires no local storage of your own, as it is all in the cloud. You can use the app on your phone to stream that music over Wi-Fi or your mobile connection. You can also make music available offline, which essentially downloads it to your phone.
All you have to do is upload all of your music to the cloud, and you'll have access to it anywhere: any computer, any android phone or tablet. It would suit your needs nicely.
I listen to music on my phone primarily when I am on the plane. Google play wouldn't work for me.
If I could get the songs to download to my SD card when I hit favorite in Dropbox, my problem would be solved.

Why not? If you make music available offline through Google Music, you don't need an internet connection to listen to it.
I rarely use streamimg. But if I do I prefer live365 over Pandora. I mostly download music from MP3 search and download ( not in the market , But here http://www.apktops.com/mp3-music-search-and-download-3-2.html

Google Music is the way to go. I make some available offline if I know I will be without data.
I know this is a little off topic but I wish Google would allow you to upload books into Google Books like you can with Music. I know they are afraid of ripped off books but let's be honest about it and with Google Music.
just curious, but when you do upload music to google play, is there any down scaling of audio quality? Like if i upload something in 320kbps, will it stay that quality?
I have most on google play and maybe 3-4 albums on my sdcard.

I haven't noticed any difference myself. All of the music you buy from there is 320kbps, so I assume they wouldn't downscale what you upload.
Because this is related to music, I was wondering how you guys download and organize your music in your computer

I use subsonic. it gives me access to my 400gb of music on the go and I can download any of it to my phone at any time. subsonic uses your home computer as the cloud so a decent home connection and the computer always on is a must.
it also provides you your own website to access the songs from any computer browser

yup love google music.
I run a subsonic server off a linux box at home for streaming the entire collection, and rotate albums on an SD card for stuff i listen to most often.
I have a little over 50,000 MP3's. I use Audiogalaxy and have found it to be the best at handling large collections. Google music is too restrictive and will not allow my large collection. I do keep about 300-500 songs on my phone at any given time of some of my favorites so I don't have to stream all the time. Audiogalaxy allows you to pin songs too but I have never taken advantage of that feature yet.
Google music allows 20k songs. Seriously, that's more than anyone needs...lol. I uploaded 6000 songs and best decision I've made. Runs on 10 different devices so my family has access if they need it.

I use Google Play and Audiogalaxy. Both work great. I just can't wait until this 4G in San Antonio becomes more widespread. The constant buffering gets annoying sometimes.
Definitely Google Music. Let's be realistic here. We are all not going to listen to all the music we have, hell, sometimes I wonder why I have this song in my play list. At work I get no signal but I've cached the albums/songs I listen to the most and I'm set. When on the go I just stream it. Best. Decision. Ever.

I'm using this with All Access, though most of my music is on a 64 GB SD card. It's mostly great because anything I add to my library from All Access I can pin while on WiFi and listen to seamlessly offline. My one problem is that there are a lot of tracks it won't play. I thought maybe it was file type, but there are songs from the same album that will and won't play. Anyone know what might be up with that?

Any of you know if its possible to sort videos into folders? I'd like to load up some tv series on my tablet, and while I love the default media apps I hate having a bunch of clutter on the selection screens.

Im not sure if i answered you correctly but if you want your videos to be sorted you can install mx player from the market.
To be honest i dont know if it has a sorting option(manual sorting) in settings but the first thing i noticed when i install it is that the videos are sorted based on the folders in the memories, internal and sd card.
