Any of you know if its possible to sort videos into folders? I'd like to load up some tv series on my tablet, and while I love the default media apps I hate having a bunch of clutter on the selection screens.
Thanks in advance!
Im not sure if i answered you correctly but if you want your videos to be sorted you can install mx player from the market.
To be honest i dont know if it has a sorting option(manual sorting) in settings but the first thing i noticed when i install it is that the videos are sorted based on the folders in the memories, internal and sd card.

Hi, Android n00b here. Looking at getting an Android tab -- wife has an iPad, I have an iPhone, but I am sick of the iOS walled garden.
A major thing that I want to use my tablet for is playing videos out to a projector, for shows that I do. It's important to me to be able to do these 2 things:
1. Play a playlist of videos in order, without further prompting once it starts.
2. Transition between videos cleanly and seamlessly -- no player controls or tablet home screen visible, even for a second. Nothing but black in between vids.
I've already got my mind pretty much made up about which tablet I'm getting... but I'm not ready to buy until I know there are apps that can meet those 2 requirements.
I've been told that the Dice, MX, and Mobo players will NOT do both of the things I'm looking for. I've gotten reports that Act1 can use playlists... but I haven't been able to find out anything about what the transitions between videos on a playlist look like.
Can anyone recommend a video player that has playlists, and transitions cleanly between videos?
UPDATE: I am hearing elsewhere that the Act 1 player may do everything I want. Haven't had a chance to try it out (since I don't have an Android device yet).
Thanks for the information.
Hi XDA users
im having an issue where the music i store inside the microsd is not scanned and played by google music player preinstalled in the tablet. Is there any way around this? only the music stored in the internal memory of the tablet is scanned and played. please help me with this! thank you! =)
I can't even get that. It doesn't find any of my music.
and the settings are a joke. there are no options to select, just shows help, the license and version number.
Are there any good (free) music player programs out there.
Cube (³) is pretty nice, try that. Some minor issues with the playlists still occur, but the widgets are nice and the player itself has some neat features.

I have the same issue. I have music stored on my SD card and in the cloud, but when I load up the Google player it seems to just display what is in the cloud and has very limited capabilities.
Hey i have only just purchased my Galaxy10 tablet, i have put a few songs on it but it still says in the 'music player' that there are 0 songs. I am able to listen to these songs individually in 'my files' but i cannot open anything else up (e.g. i cant listen to music while working on polaris office).
Is there something im missing that will easily fix this? or is it a problem with all the galaxy tabs.
Thanks, Nic.
I mentioned thi in your other post, but make sure the music is placed in where the player looks for music. I had this issue with different players looking in different folders and not showing ones the other players would. There's another suggestion in the other post, but I forget what it was. something about clearing the cache in settings/apps/music player you're using. I think.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using one finger.
thanks for the reply, i have tried moving my files around, still no luck. I also read the other suggestion on my other post and i cleared the cache/data of the music player and still didnt make a difference. ill continue trying to fix it though, and hopefully will eventually get it .
Thanks Heaps for putting me that one step closer, Nic.
Post what music player you're using. That will help too.

im using the one that came with it, which is 'Music Player'. I also tried using 'Winamp' but still had no success, if you know of any better apps to use for this it would be greatly appreciated.
any one have any other suggestions on what i could do to fix this problem??
It would be helpful to know where the files are located and what format they are.
Also try moving your music to /sdcard/Music.
hey, umm all my music is in .mp3 format. and the music is in 'my files/music'.
would it make a difference if i used itunes to sync the music from my pc to the tablet? (at the moment i am using 'windows media player' which is up to date)
is your tab rooted? if so, try use root explorer, find the folder and make sure there is no .nomedia file in that folder.if so, delete it and try open music player back
Shouldn't matter, no. Move it to the folder I said and see what happens. Music player is probably looking for them to be in that folder.
ssss
hey, I had the same issue. the fix is simple, go to apps--> Music player and you'll find you music there. if you open the music player in the tray on the bottom of the tablet you wont find your music.
The new Music app has the Music Square feature that for the life of god I cannot figure out how to get working. I understand you're supposed to press a square and generally get a personalised playlist out of it, but any attempt of interacting with the square just tells me that 'Selected list is empty'. Anybody else running into the same issues?
Same here...
Hi guys,
I realized that it will only recognize your songs if you stored it in your phone instead of memory card.
If anyone find the ways to make it work for songs in memory card, please share!!
Thanks in advance.
sooo - i had the same problem and that's how i fixed it go to music player, than choose musicsquare after that press the options Touchbutton and choose "update library" - after it is done the music square should run perfectly
I do not have a SD card so do not know if the issue with recognizing songs only in internal memory is only with your device since i can not test it ... sorry
Did not work for me. I have alot of music on my 64GB card...so much for that...maybe it'll be in the update.
It's working fine for me, including the songs from the external SD.
All I did was from the Music Square tab I updated the library.
Music square>Menu button>Library Update>Done!
music square has ruined my life
i cant get this thing to work at all and i doubt anyone else with a sizeable music collection can. for all those people saying put your music in the phone memory - where is the stuff from the phone memory going to go? the purpose of an sd card is to store your media on so that you dont fill your phone.

My songs are in my 64gb microSD card. Music square is now updating
Worked for me on External SD
Hi Guys: just downloaded over 300 songs from my Amazon Cloud player and transferred them via USB to my SD card under what Windows Explorer called "SCH-I535" (with small mobile phone icon) and the Card-->Music. I copied all the folders.
Then started the Samsung Music Player and the Music Square found all of the songs and analysed them for where they sat within the four axis. Very interesting app--since it's my music, this is a cool way to get a bit of a surprise of what pressing a square will bring. But it did miscacluate one of my driving trance songs as "calm".
An S3 reviewer said this about it: "You can drag your finger across the squares to choose a 'progressive' playlist based on your mood...this is a really nice way of making a playlist from your tunes." So I dragged my finger in a square and it presented a list of 22 songs that "matched" these squares moods.
At first it didn't start working for me when I first bought the phone, but since I updated to LFB, Music Square works.
I have about 3000 songs on a 32gb. I have it under Music folder on the fat32 card. In the music square screen, press menu and select update library and it does a one time scan and that's it.
I have approx 64GB SDCARD and also 16GB music on my phone and it works perfectly with Music square, you have to have minimum of 25 songs on the phone, select update library rfom the menu on the music square page and all will be good to go
yaay for music square... not ... its quite a cool idea but i dont think it works that great. not worth the fuss if im honest. just make your own playlists! i do like samsungs music player though. very clean and easy to use. never crashed on me. never had any problems with it
It's working for me. I select update library every time I add new songs.
But it did stop playing after a number of songs, so I need to select play again.
I like this feature, it just needs to be enhanced.:good:

I have about 1000 songs on my 32 gb sd card. I have run the update library, it then works, for a while then randomly stops, run the update, works again!!
This can be in the space of 1 hour!
Any ideas?
Honestly, music square is not always working properly and alot is mistaken and play songs that are not related to the mood at all and personally I hate when it plays a song that not works wirh my mood which frustrate me , like sometimes I play smooth tunes while having a nap on my ride in bus and suddenly it turns to play some hard tune that differ from mood I selected so I honestly prefer creating my own playlists by myself.

How can i get 'Samsung Music Square' on my redmi 1s??
I'm using a Galaxy S5 but I can't find the Library Update option when i go into the music square.
I'm having the same issue where the selected list is empty.
Any thoughts?
I just picked up my S9+ this past weekend, so I'm a little behind the curve, but one thing I've noticed has me perplexed. I have movie files, videos, etc, that I've had saved on my card, that the native player doesn't play, so as I always do, I installed VLC Player. If I go to the My Files app and pull the video up, it will prompt and ask what player I would like, with the usual Just Once / Always option.
However, in the Gallery itself, it always defaults to the stock video player (which means those above-mentioned files will not play). At no point have I ever been presented an option from within the Gallery to pick a player. Looking in the Default Apps menu, there's the standard Home Screen, Browser, and so on but nothing for the Video Player. I've tried setting VLC as the default player from within My Files, and it does affect anything I play from there, but the Gallery doesn't hang onto that. It's very possible that I'm missing something, but if there's a way to change it, I haven't found it yet.
On a tangent to that, if there's no way to set the default media player to choose files from within the Gallery app, does anyone know any simple 3rd party Gallery apps that are similar in form and function to stock? I don't need a lot of bells or whistles - just albums, and MAYBE the option to hide/show folders but even that's nothing important. But most of the ones I've seen are all about trying to do something massively grand, which is more involved than I would need.
Cheers in advance.
I am having the same issue
Just bought Galaxy S9 and I had Xiaomi before
After I transferred all my files from the older phone to the new one I realized none of the videos from the older phone is supported in the new Galaxy S9 which is very disappointing.
I also downloaded VLC and tried to set it as default but didn't find any option to do that...
Why to set default,Open that app to play videos
