No... It wouldn't affect the custom ROM and the system root(apart from the themes on MIUI)
but the apps saved on sd card won't open...

backup the entire sd card on PC first. now format ur SD card. Restore android_secure and Android folder ( i think there are some necessary files inside this for the ROM even though im not so sure )
now try restarting. if the ROM isnt rebooting Restore all from backup in pc into the rom and then restart again.
I would advise u have a card reader before u try this method.
Cheers :highfive:

okay, i'll try it. thanks 4 the info.
Or just move all apps to phone memory and format the sd card...
It will not affect SuperUser because SU is stored in system internal memory

how about do a cwm back-up, then a titanium back-up, then copy the clockworkmod folder and the titaniumbackup folder to you computer, then format your SD card, then copy the clockworkmod and titaniumbackup folders from computer to the newly formatted SD card, then perform a restore on both cwm and titanium?
I havent tried this yet though...
Is there a way to restore deleted images from internal sd ?

Hi,
after trying a few ROMs, I noticed that in the process of upgrading or restoring to a backup all my GS3 files had been cloned to a folder named "0" on the internal storage.
I decided i want to format it.
How can I do it?
Is it safe to format it (right click on windows > format)?
Will a hard reset do the trick?
Thanks in advance, Alon.
btw, I searched for an answer and all the solutions I could find were inconclusive.
I'm currently using WanamLite rom if it's relevant.

Answer was posted on the XDA portal this week .
Format via CWM recovery .

Hi,
Thanks!
I could not find it on the portal, but i'm guessing it's the "format /sdcard" option.
After formating, will I have to flash a rom via Odin3?
If so, does it have to be the stock version, or will I have the option of rooting and then flashing a rom the normal way?
sorry for the questions,
if there is a manual i'll be happy to get a link, since I couldn't find one.
thank you again!

Stock rom then root then custom rom.
Or put custom rom on ext sd card then root boot to recovery and flash .

Via windows use GOOGLE if you dont know how to format .
You don't actually say you have installed CWM recovery if you have flash it again .
Beginner read the stickied faqs and guides first is easier than reading after you brick your phone .

Hi,
they thread creator asked for /sdcard not /extsdcard!!!!
Same Problem here, there is something existing for the CDMA S3 is that also usable for the normal S3?

If its from CWM recovery then you may not be using install from external sd card .
Otherwise this post makes no sense .

i switched from cwm to twrp, when i try to install a rom from an ext sd card the rom just loads and loads but never does anything. It seems that i can only install roms from the internal storage....how would i change that option? do i need to go back to CWM and if so how would i change it back to where it would load roms from my ext sd card

I guess i'm not clear enough with my description, I can't load any roms from my sd card. When i try it just essentially freezes regardless of if im running either recovery. my question is what can be causing this and could it possibly have something to do with recovery....
