On my S2 when on Call, i cant use my Internet.
Well i am on a 2G/GSM connection.
On my old Nokia E63/Nokia 5230 i could use Internet while on call. While on my First and only Android, i cant.
May i know what can be done for that?
Even on my Dad's Galaxy Y i cant use it. Help appreciated

Well there's your problem! 2G/Edge does not support data and calls simultaneously. Join a 3G network like Tata Docomo!
You may also find that you cannot receive calls while using data.

Which is it? They are not mutually exclusive. Either you can use data and voice simultaneously or you can't.
When on an active call, press your home button, then start your browser. I do it all the time.

I have a quick question. I have a hacked ROM currently on my mogul which allows me to get incoming calls while surfing the internet. Will the newest ROM that HTC released still allow this? I remember the original ROM that came with the phone would not allow incoming calls while surfing the internet. If anyone can answer, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks

All roms allow you to receive incoming calls while "surfing the internet". The phone however, will NOT allow you to use any data while on that call. So you can be on google.com and get a call just fine, but you can't load up xda while on that same call. The phone pauses the data, lets the call through, when the call ends, resumes data.
gcincotta, thanks alot for the quick reply...thats exactly what i needed to know.

Unless of course your using "WIFI" then your browsing is not affected while on the call.
similar question, but do you know what recieving incoming calls does to gps? does it close the connection?
anything similar to what it does with data?

Well I figured he was referring to EV-DO, Wi-Fi is different as it's not using the CDMA radio.

Again, the GPS has its own chipset on the MSM7500. It does not use the CDMA radio, so therefore it's unaffected by calls or data.

it also activates your data to recieve the new voicemails in addition to your wifi being activated. try opening the visual voice mail app, the ATT one, both icons will show up.

I know. Some people have difficulty receiving MMS and VVM while connected to WiFi for whatever reason. If this was what OP was referring to, I was simply stating that I don't have this issue, so it doesn't happen to everyone.
SayWhat10: do you have packet data manually disabled when you connect to WiFi?

I don't, but.....
I use juice defender, which handles the switching. That might be it...

I changed my SIM, I can't still browse on my cell network and I can make calls and whatever, but when someone calls me it goes straight to voice mail.
I tried restarting the phone... Everything worked fine yesterday...

Mobile network settings ???
Contact your network for settings .
Modem for your network ???
Cannot answer in full users posts no details of phone .
jje
Have you tried using the sim on a different handheld ?
also I would look for a setting that screens your incoming calls like blocking mode/phone settings.

Hello, after updating my VRZ SG4 to the 5.0.1 lolipop i can't send txt messages. Everything else works fine,i can receive txt but cant send it.
Is there anything i can do to fix this proble. I am using my phone with different carrier, not verizon.
Thank you in advance.
bump
have the same issue, i'm using it on tmobile.

The issue has to do with 4G/LTE. If the phone is in any other mode (3G, H+, etc...) the texts send. There is something goofy with the 4G/LTE.
Hmm, but the texts worked when the phone was on kit kat???
Im having a similar issue with incoming and outgoing calls not working even with full 4G. I can send/receive text messages and use Internet. I've been through two Sim cards and it hasn't fixed the issue. Has been doing this for 3 weeks now.
I'm having this issue, is there a work around for the texts?
just found out a workaround ... download app called Advance Signal Status from play store, and change your Network setting in the app to WCDMA ... everything should work. I know you will not get LTE, but H+ is good enough for speeds, atleast for tmobile.

you have to be rooted. use kingroot
I use heywire app as a workaround for now
It has to do with how Verizon is switching it's plan structure. Lotsa weird stuff happening with Vzw devices. Gov't screwing around.
I fixed by uninstalling verizon messenger+, installing android stock messenger from google apps, and reinstalling verizon messenger app.
