What happened: I was trying to flash this ROM: http://bit.ly/vfmlQU I read that you needed to have a Gingerbread bootloader, so I decided to flash CM7 on for the bootloader needed. I did that, and then I went back into recovery, wiped everything (cache, Dalvik, data, etc.). After that I flashed the ROM. No luck, booted into CM7. Tried all the different updates he made, including the base (Simply Honey I believe): http://bit.ly/g2IFn2 Then, somehow, after screwing around, trying several different things, all the sudden it just stopped working. I tried to go into download mode and it just has this little loading ring. When I just normally turn it on, or try to get into the recovery mode, I get that VIBRANT screen with SAMSUNG at the bottom. I'm stuck. I dont know if it's a perminant brick, soft brick, or anything. Just please, someone help me fix my phone. Really, anything will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I figured it out! GB Boot-loaders are only the + button for recovery. *Phew*

Hey guys,
I need some help getting back to stock ROM. I had Bionix before, and I tried to upgrade Bionix I think without disabling lagfix. I tried to flash back to stock, after reformatting internal and external cards and Odin reports everything went fine, but I can see one error "Data wipe failed".
The phone boots to the standard Tmo jingle and the softkeys are always lit, but the display seems to be off.
ADB can't find the device.
Is it bricked for good or is there still some hope? Any insight, tip, link, advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
your not bricked, I am having the EXACT SAME ISSUE! you can just re-flash Bionix and even though it tells you it fails it will reboot into Bionix! However I can't get the stock rom to work WTH!! I have even tried my nandroid backups! I am lost but I can get back to Bionix so not all is lost.
*edit sorry* I had disabled my lagfix, I was just trying to flash back to stock. he tells you how to fix it in the thread.
Newb here. Any help would be great. Do I need to re flash something? Phone works fine, no issues. Just cant seem to get back into CWM.
I'm having the same problem on my Vibrant. It seems this is common when flashing 2.3.3 ROMs. CwM is probably working, you just can't see what you're doing. Reboot back into CwM, and try pressing the power key once the device "freezes." If it reboots, CwM is working, it's just invisible.
I'm also a noob, and I happen to be trying to fix the same problem.
Ok, simply out of frustration I have exhausted all my options and my phone is acting weird I think. I did the factory reset, tried fruitcaking, and even doing sbf. I am at a stock 2.3.4 however when I want to upgrade to try different roms it is extremely unstable and I always get boot loops. Yes I did try the wiping caches and everything before and even after.
So my question is am I doing something wrong? I had even relocked my device from sbf and unlocked it again by cleaning my device. My phone is rooted and unlocked stock rom atm. I'm not sure what to do at this point but either throw the phone at the wall or sell it.
Please help thanks. I tried searching but I believe my situtation is different.
Let me note that I was able to run the Alien rom just fine on my atrix it is 2.3.4 based I believe.
Have you tried the fastboot wipe option? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421522
I've been using this as of late as some of my flashes (even factory resetting in recovery) have had lingering settings and artifacts.
I will definetely try this when I get home. Thanks I'll keep this updated.
Either it wont boot and it just restarts or it starts to boot and wont complete the process its just an endless loop. I have had it on ICS before but for some reason it took over 20 bootloops and it finally showed... I'm not sure where to start.
bump, that method doesnt work... I still need help any other alternatives please..
Are updating roms on romracers latest recovery or old recovery versions?
I got myself a bricked Vibrant from someone and trying to fix it.
I'm guessing the dude tried to flash captivate stuff on it, because the boot image is AT&T.
Anyway, I was able to odin back to stock 2.1, which seemed to make the power button work again because it would start up and show the AT&T logo but that's it.
Then I tried odin'ing a vibrant bootloader, which got me to replace the AT&T logo with a green andy logo, but same thing, stuck.
So I tried reflashing 2.1 with odin again. Now the boot logo is back to the stock i9000 > Vibrant, but then it stops here. I can't seem to be able to enter the 2e(or 3e?) stock recovery.
Any idea on what else I can try flashing to it?
Update: I tried flashing the froyo bootloader, which did get me to the stock recovery, but again - i can't seem to get this phone past this stage, doesn't boot into the OS.

So what is your desired ROM after flash?
I suggest that you should flash it to LidDroid with Vibrant bootloader. From that, you can upload the phone to 2.3, 3.0 or ICS 4.0 ROM.
On mobile now so I cannot giive you the download links for needed files. If you need them, just post a reply in the thread.
Thanks, I tried LidDroid

And flashed Froyo and GB bootloaders, nothing is working. It just shows boot screen then still shuts down.
Update: Well I'm not sure what the issue is, I was able to get it to boot to the lock screen once, but then it shut down right after. Now I can only get it back to boot image before shutting down.
The thing I noticed is that the phone gets hot really fast, so maybe it's drawing too much power somewhere and its shutting down as a protection. Also the stock batteries don't seem to work for it, just this particular battery that it came with, which the contacts on the battery are flush with the edge of the battery instead of indented like the stock ones.
What you should do is take out your sim card and external sd card if you have one, use odin to flash back to stock rom (either 2.1 or 2.2), wait for it to load up as it might take a few minutes after you see the Vibrant logo (just be patient). If you get this far and you see the operating system, flash clockwork recovery on it.
If you can get this far, let us know then we'll talk about custom roms. The main purpose now is to get it running stock, we can worry about the custom stuff later.

I am a relative noob at flashing roms and rooting phones, but last night I ran into an issue. My phone was having all sorts of problems so I was going to put it back to factory, then start from scratch. I then decided to just flash a different rom. here is what happened.
I deleted SuperSU - this was done as part of the process to unroot and put back to factory, after this step I decided to flash a different rom
Put new ROM on phones internal memory as well as SD card
Wipe data
wipe cache and delvic cache
install new rom
Black screen
In an attempt to unbrick I relocked my bootloader.
Now, my phone can power on (Give white screen and HTC logo), then go black, and I can access Recovery mode. That is all.
I have plugged the phone to my computer and tried running the RUU, but the RUU will not recognize the phone.
I am not sure what to do to unbrick my phone and get it working again. Any and all help would be most appreciated!
Sorry I can't be more eloquent with my words, but I'm at work. I will be responding throughout the day, though.
thanks again so much to anyone that can help!
Try running it straight from bootloader
I loaded into Bootloader, selected Fastboot(USB), ran the .exe and it still won't recognize the phone. However, I did get recovery unlocked again. So I can get into recovery mode, flash all the ROMs I want, mount and unmount, yet still everytime I flash a new ROM it still boots to a black screen. Am I doing this right?
Try a Rom with kernel installer
Thanks! Since I am still a little new could you tell me how I would spot a ROM with kernel installer or could you point me to any one that could work? From then, it's the same process as flashing any other ROM? Do I need to do something with the kernel?
Meanbean and stock with goodies are the 2 that I'm certain of. Meanbean needs to be flashed twice the first time
Thanks so much for your help, I will post my results soon!
Failed
Here's what it says. Sorry for the blurry picture. I followed directions closely.
What version of recovery are you using? You may need to update it. Assuming you have a pc, try mounting the internal memory to pc through twrp. Windows will automatically tell you to format if its damaged
2.1 Updating now
omg it finally worked! Updated TWRP using fastboot and flashed MeanBean. Thank you so much!!!
