[Q] Has development on StarBurst ROM stopped? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been very impressed by the StarBurst ROM but has phantomhacker stopped development?
If the answer is yes then what alternatives are there on 3.2?

Yes StarBurst ROM is dead as of now. Phantomhacker is now concentrating on mobile ROMs.
Alternative ROM will be Galaxy Task ROM (My opinion)

galaxy task and overcome are the only 3.2 ROMs for the wifi tab. But, if you really want it to rock, just jump to one of the 4.0 kangs...

Galaxy Task seems less stable than Starburst. Not tried Overcome but it seems to still include some bloat.
ICS roms are all preview and for me too unpredictable.

No they're not the only 3.2 roms. There's also FyreMod and Bindroid.

[Q] Questions about Galaxy Ace.

Hey guys im a Newbie here and Im thinking about buying Ace and thus would like to ask some questions about it first..
If I upgrade the firmware to the latest KPH 2.3.4 are there any problems in that firmware?
If I want to revert back to original Froyo then is it possible? If yes then where can i download the original Firmware?
Is 384 amount of Ram sufficient?I mean are there any lags or hiccups if many apps are running?
Is the 800Mhz CPU fast enough i mean is the UI snappy under it?
Are there any Custom ROMS available for Ace?If Yes which one is the fastest/snappiest?
That will be all
Thank You
The 2.3.4 update has small wifi bugs.
You could revert to 2.2 froyo with a flashtool and the firmware is provided in Samfirmware.com
The ram is good in froyo but in gingerbread there're appkills in background when you play games.
800mhz is quite snappy but if you're big on performance then you'll have to go for expensive phones like galaxy s or s2, nexus, or htc high-ends.
The development section of the phone is rather young so custom roms are not that far from stock firmware as yet, but the phone has potential. If you're looking for a medium-spec phone this may be a good choice.
Thank me if I helped in any way in your decision

Ohkay thanks for a early reply
So Froyo is lighter compared to Gingerbread?
And is Code.ROMv1 good rom?
What about Villian Rom?
are these faster compared to KPH?

Coderom is great mainly because of the darktremor app2sd support, extending the memory for app download. Villianrom is lightweight so I guess it should be faster than stock KPH..
I'll still prefer stock froyo if not for the app2sd support in coderom (am using that now)

[Q] Which Rom are you using for your 10.1 Wifi?

All,
I've been messing around with a couple of ROMs and still a bit undecided on which ROM to stick with. I would love ICS but not necessarily if its not stable.
Any preference?
Thanks for any info.
Galaxy Task will be my choice if not ICS.

I'm on task 10 as it meets my daily needs and plenty fast with over 3000 on benchmark OC'[email protected] 1.4. I'm lag free
Give Overcome 2.2.0 a shot... not a lot of people use his rom but i find it far more stable over all of them... ive used all of task's roms and the ICS roms and at the end of the day i much prefer Overcome 2.2.0... i find that more stuff works the way it should and have less glitchy bugs that most people dont even know were bugs to begin with... my $0.02
side note (2 things)
If you go with overcome 2.2.0 you can use pershoot's kernels
just so everyone knows... benchmarks have 0 (zero) meaning... all tabs are different (every single tab 10.1 is different)
Daily use rom
I use Overcome 2.2.0 rom.. have tried all the task roms as well but have found the overcome roms more responsive.....
same here overcome 2.2 so far works for me. Very responsive stable and fast
Have had great luck with Task 13.1; loaded right when it was introduced. I like that it is slimmed down to bare bones. It's fast, stable, and, well, slim. Pared with Pershoot's latest kernel; have suffered zero FCs. Plus, like all of the good long-time developers here, Task is very responsive to questions.

[Q] AOSP vs Touchwiz

Hi all,
I keep reading but I don't seem to find a definite answer for this question. I read somewhere that because of i9300 processor (samsung didn't reveal the codes or sth) the performance and battery life on Custom ROM based on AOSP and CM is not as satisfactory as Stock or Touch-wiz based roms.
Is this true? I love to use CM but the battery indeed seems to drain faster. Any idea of when i9300 users might get to use solid AOSP or CM based ROMs?
Thanks mates!
I am curious about this too. It seems that AOSP ROMS will always be imperfect as long as the Exynos codes arent released.

I have messed around with a few ROMS (mainly sammy based one's) and using a SAMMY ROM with a new launcher is a strong base.
Why not start by finding a good sammy based ROM (i'm using Viking ROM although may switch to HyperLight) get a nice setup, then you can simply backup and mess with ASOP & CM yourself knowing you have a rock solid alternative to fall back on.
You can make up your own mind then ^^

Cm10 is rock stable and has better battery life than sammy. (For me) but camera has some problems. Just try it. You can always revert it to sammy

CM10 is still nightly build right? I tried some ROMs like slimbean and liquid smooth but the battery performance is significantly not as good as stock. Am i right?
Yes right...
The stock ROM gives awesome battery life...
I tried CM10 but it seems to drain battery faster...i mean not that faster...
On my galaxy sl i9003 you cant even imagine what actually battery drain is....
Life 7hrs and gone but on my S3 the battery is OK about a day or day and a half and still 34% left !!

Wah. A day and a half??? I can't even achieve it with stock rom. What kind of tweaks do you use?
I just rooted a while ago and have just been flashing ROM this and that. Have never tried custom kernels or mods.
Would love to hear some tweaks that will last me 1.5 days with CM10. haha. Share with me bro.
If you can tolerate the few minor issues/glitches here and there, nothing beats CM10.

okay. So i do not need any kernel and tweaks for excellent battery life is it?
tried so often cm9&cm10, lately slimbean.
was AOSP fan on my desire, but not on the s3 (yet)
none of them made me stick to AOSP for more than 1week...
too many "bugs" - minor things who annoyed me like: **** camera&video (unstable), battery life, calling bugs (low voice volume) etc
ive to admit that slimbean + siyah kernel beats everything, the battery life is rly nice (nearly liek sammy roms). siyah kernel helps alot concerning the battery life on AOSP!
still ive to use a sammy rom cuz of stability and reliability.
id look forward to a fully working AOSP rom, hopefully soon.

What good is a ROM that is stable (as in doesn't crash) but ISN'T fully functional (as in has issues w/ hardware) ?
I want a ROM that is both stable and fully functional, even if it isn't the benchmark champion.
For me, the stock ROMs offer the best of the 2 worlds: they are stable and functional.
Yeah, let the flame start, but I am yet to see an AOKP/AOSP/CM ROM that doesn't have a single issue with hardware.
So, stock ROMs for me are the winner.
I use NOVA Launcher Prime, BTW, but the TouchWiz that came with today's stock JB (France, XEF) is extremely fast and as customizable as Nova Launcher.

There is miui rom that offers sammy+miui experience. I think it's called rayglobe, but it's based on 4.0.4 so it is never as smooth as jb

[Q] Stable and Lag-Free Rom

whats the best stable, lag free, and fast rom for the fascinate? is their any ROM that has JB/Kk? also, i need a rom with lots of internal space.
honestly i've been most satisfied with EH03, the verizon stock ROM. i've tried every version of CyanogenMod and nothing has come close to the fluidity and speed of good ol gingybread.
although if you absolutely can not stand touchwiz for some reason, CM9 is ok but it has a couple of issues (no native wifi tethering, weird texts from blank numbers, sometimes it just freezes and reboots itself).
also i use imoseyon's lean kernel along with a couple of other mods.. if you want them let me know. it kinda looks like touchwiz 4 for me.
using the stock verizon build too, debloated, debinged, rooted. all the links to EH03-based ROMs are dead unfortunately.

And it's so subjective,,, what works for one another despises...
I loved 'baked blackbean 6' it was 4.1.x jellybean (course i heavily tweaked it to my personal liking),,, and then came Slim ROM 4.2.2 ,,,
hellybean was good too,,,
Of course running the devil kennel from hellybean on these was the ticket too.
you just gotta be willing to take the plunge and try some different ones out till you find the one that trips your trigger the best
actually, based on prior experience, CM7 is the best non-TW GB ROM (although i'm content with my gutted out modded to hell EH03), ICS i just don't recommend because it gives excellent performance and is solid but the devs never fixed a few issues that are kinda big. JB just always lagged and stuttered too much but i remember Helly being a halfway decent rom

[Q] What is the smoothest running ROM for this device?

I haven't been using my tablet much since I picked up my HTC M8. I can definitely notice a difference. I just want to know the ROM that runs the best on this tablet. I prefer an aosp ROM but if a Samsung Rom runs better that's fine. I'm just trying to squeeze as much life as I can out of this thing. Im running Cyanogenmod 10 now but its run so slow.

I am also interested in a smooth running rom for my tab. I don't really care what android version it is honeycomb, ice cream, etc. I just want as many free ram as possible and as fast as possible.
For example, for my hd2 there was a cm8 barebone rom. I am looking for something like that
Thanks in advance
