Yeah I like it the only thing I am missing now is official ota ics update.
There are a few things that bug me like my digitizer dieing, HTC taking their sweet time to release source code, HTC not releasing source code for 3d and 4G.... but not much else.
Seems like there are as many roms as for the og evo, which is kinda why i grabbed it. i know the epic 4g touch is faster blah blah, i just don't like Samsung.

Yes love my 3d just waiting for the Ics update!
No I am not, but my complaints have more to do with Sprint than the phone.
When I first got the phone it was terrible though, widgets deleting themselves at random, wallpaper changes itself, phone crashed and reboots, battery drain in 2 hours sometimes, signal dropping out for no reason whenever I tried to send a text, phone freezing at the black screen when trying to wake it up.
Then root and s-off came around and the phone has been great ever since. Custom ROMs really fix this phone. Unfortunately, they cant fix Sprint's terrible network.
They all suck until they're rooted ,all that Sprint bloated....does anyone use the 3d? I know I won't use it especially since sense will be wiped off my phone.

i had touchwiz and sense. Samsung devices dont come close to htc and sense in consumer usability and multitasking. stop arguing about these things. sense is better then touchwiz period. Sense is better then aosp period. aosp is better then touchwiz, period. Htc is a better quality device then samsung period. Then it comes down to processor. Qualcomm is better then samsung in that department period. Stop arguing about stupid things. 3D is the future period. HTC EVO 3d is the best superphone to date, so stop complaining and do something usefull then arguing my logic here

super happy with my E3D. waiting on some fully functional ICS goodness, AOSP or Sense I really don't care (love sense, but IMO ICS brings a lot to the table that I used to need sense for, so I'll take whatever gives me ICS with a camera first). I do use the 3D rarely, but can easily live without is; cool feature to have available though.
I love this phone, its fast, smooth and great battery life.
I was having regrets when I first got it. Once virus release Eternity a lot of that regret faded. Once Chad released Anthrax RLS9 I was going "omg i love this phone!"
I am loving my 3vo since the first day it came out. Now I love it even more with MeanROM on it. Fast, tweaked out the way I like it, and 4g is great where I live. I have 14 3d movies that I watch with my Sony MW600.

I love my 3D! Some of the roms I use regularly are Blackend and EvoZone. Blackend is quite smooth and themed. EvoZone is stock with blue instead of green. Very happy with my 3D!
I actually use the 3D a lot. I watch a ton of 3D movies and have played most of the 3D games. I love it.

Also, its just your opinion and personal preference. Samsung actually does processors much better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon because power consumption is better and performance is a bit better on direct competing models of processors WiMax is done far better on Samsung than HTC as well. I still like my EVO 3D though
I prefer AOSP with Launcher Pro, I hate sense. But thats just a personal preference like you and how you love Sense.

I have always been HTC lover. Since the pp6700 I had every htc flagship smartphone. True they were not perfect, which was why I ditched my evo for epic.
Better in a lot of ways but has problems of it's own. Ended up hating the galaxy as well. Well I wanted to come back to htc before catching wind of the S2

I am on my second device (EVO 3D). I killed the first because I did a drunken swim (lil drunk right now in case this post doesn't make much sense ) and forgot it was in my pocket. The first had 1 dead pixel, only noticible when using an app to look for them and even then, I was the only one of the 3 people I asked who could actually see it. Other than that, the build quality on both phones has been outstanding. IMHO those who complain, for the most part, are those who would complain about just about anything and are looking for things to ***** about. The 3D is superior to the OG EVO in every way (with the exception of root). Is it the difference I had from my old Touch Diamond to my OG EVO, no, absolutely not. It is an evolutionary improvement with the added feature of 3D. I think the build quality of the 3D is night-and-day better than the build quality of the OG EVO, but that's just my opinion. Is it worth getting? I wouldn't go back to my old EVO, the decision is really to each his/her own.
I'm happy with mine too... Just that it lags pretty bad when scrolling in the market and some apps.... But I guess could be fixed by a update.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
This is definitely an upgrade to my old EVO by a longshot. Is it perfect? No. Is it worth getting? Yes.
Sense 3.0 at its best, Camera is better, shutter button is a welcome addition, the screen is better, Stock speed is faster than EVO rooted, the graphics WOW, 1Gig RAM, a gig of UA storage & the 3D is fun as hell. It's one core alone is better & it has 2 of them. Most of the developers from the EVO 4G will develop for the EVO 3D.
I can cry about it not having permanent root but that's just a matter of patience.
You have 30 days to make that call for yourself, you might feel differently or even better about it.

And anyone who b*tches about it all the time cuz their screen is a lil bit yellow instead of white, or they got shipped with kingston instead of scan or w/e can just take it back n get the samsung instead and let the rest of us actually enjoy this beast. I just wanted to know what would it take for you to stay with HTC? It seems like most people on here dont like the galaxy s2 but always say that when sprint gets the galaxy nexus there gona get it. Me personally both of my lines are are eligible for upgrades and i passed on the iphone rush and galaxy s2. The 1st evo to me completely changed the way i did and will always look at a phone. Not the iphone or any blackberry but the evo4g. The evo 3d although wasnt as ground breaking still made me a happy htc customer. So i ask....what will HTC have to give us in there next major sprint phone to keep people from jumping ship to the galaxy? For me its basically just ICS and LTE. Possibly a camera as good as the og evo as well. So before anyone says it ill say it cool story bro....stop trolling blah blah blah....i just seriously wana know bc it seems like alot of people are losing faith in HTC

Stop using ****ty cameras, stop using ****ty screens, use better speakers, change the damn phone design for once. They need to get it, yes the first Evo was revolutionary but that ship has sailed. Change the design on the phones and make them thinner and make sense optional. It wastes too much of the phones resources because of how bloated it is. That happens ill consider coming back to HTC but it's not likely so I probably wont. And FYI the camera in the Evo 4g sucked even more than the one in the 3D does. All their cameras suck that ive used.

Not planning on going anywhere here. Just waiting for the quadcore S4 chip HTC phone to drop for sprint personally. LTE modem being built directly in the die is interesting to me...
though I hear the complaints about camera, but personally I find it suitable for a phone, if they make it better, then so be it.
As for making phones thinner....im not on that boat here. Id rather have them the same thickness and size they are now. Holding those thin iPhones just doesn't feel right in the hand to me. Also when you go thinner you sacrifice the already slim battery life...

An HTC Nexus device.
HTC needs to innovate once again and get rid of the "cookie cutters", which have only slight differences. They should focus on 3-4 models across the board, ranging from entry level to high end.....their should be NO differences in look or features between carriers. This would also force carriers to focus more on improving their networks rather than flaunting that they have a "better" phone, which is what they should be doing.
Major (Android) updates in a timely fashion..... If we get ICS by June....and I do not believe it will be any earlier, that will make a full 8 months since source code was dropped to the open community. It is also well known that manufacturers have the code months before it is granted open source. With the expertise and resources that HTC possesses, 4-6 months is ample time to build and push an update....
Also i was on a service call and had to do service in one of sprints corporate buildings in fairfax virginia. A sprint tech there told me that the galaxy nexus will have face regonizition technology to unlock your phone. Hopefully htc has something similiar

yeah the only thing that might get me to jump the gun early is depending on the details of when we will see quadcore from qualcomm in phones. The current S4 Quadcore chip is the APQ8064 which is paired with the Adreno 320 BUT that chip is geard toward more tablet and mobile computing devices rather than phones.
Reading more and more around it seems the most we will see at lease in the "near future"(this year) is the MSM8960 which is their dualcore S4 but its paired with the Adreno 225...
Think I read the time we'd see even the APQ8064 is around the holidays too. So maybe next year for qualcomm quadcore S4 chips in phones?
The dualcore S4's are real improvement though still having modem's built in the die and getting the improvement there no one else is thus far...
I am in the minority but I prefer sense UI to asop. ICS is no different. However that is a very small deal when it comes to which phone I choose next. I have the EVO 4g and that sold me to get EVO3D on opening day. While I stick with HTC? Sure but only if they make best product to choose from that can be rooted. They best step it up because gIII looking good and all it would take is Motorola to unlock and I'd possibly leave. They have me.....for the moment

Those are all things that the Rezound has over this phone. The camera has been quoted to be one of the best available on a smart phone, and it has a higher screen density than the GNex because of 720p on a smaller screen. Design is different as well.

Never really had a problem with the form factor of the EVO or the EVO 3D. If I could get the same Sony cam that's in the 4s, better camera/camcorder software, like the 3D aspect, so improve upon that. 1080p recorder. Definitely must be more powerful, so either a quad-core processor or a dual dual-core processor works for me.

I've had the LTEvo for over a week now and all I can say is WOW. Aside from being super smooth with sense and all that jazz, the battery life is just plain nuts. I have yet to see it go below 70% and I leave it on from 7am til 11pm. I use it to browse and play music a good bit, too. Another thing I am waaay impressed with is how fast it turns on and off. I can turn it on and off and on again faster than my HTC Thunderbolt turns on! It also runs the psx emulator a TON better than my tbolt, so I'm happy with my ffix Sense 4.0 FTW
In terms of Dev and community support, HTC will always take the cake there. There might be a chance that a new nexus will be release before Jelly Beans comes out, but that's just heresay. I'm also under the opinion that google will be shifting a lot of there goodies to Motorola phones now since they bought it out.
P.S.- the camera is by far the best one I have seen, although I'm sure there will be people that say they've seen better on other phones, but meh.
The last phone I owned on Sprint was the Galaxy Nexus (switched to Straight Talk on an international GS3). I would say go for the Evo 4G LTE. The "awesomness of a stock experience" wears off pretty quickly. Sense 4.0 adds features and isn't as bloated as previous versions. More importantly, the SLCD2 screen is much sharper than the SAMOLED Plus screen on the Nexus, and the Nexus is running last year's features and noticeably lags.
Stock can also be on an unlocked rooted evo so is there really a big difference between the nexus?
Sent from my HERO200 using xda premium
Definitely go with the LTEvo. I was in the same boat as you, and was completely torn between the Gnex and the Evo. I had previously owned the OG Evo, and the Evo 3D, and while of course interested in the LTEvo, I was enticed by the sexy look of the Gnex, the pure AOSP, and the immediate updates from Google. I played with the Gnex for a while, but the moment I held the LTEvo in my hands I knew it was no contest.
Build quality is way better, screen is the best I'd ever seen on a phone, expandable storage, larger battery, improved radios...it's a beast. And the dev community is steadily growing, especially since the phone has only been out to the general public for about 3 weeks. There's a largely functional CM9 ROM already (capable of being a daily, depending on your needs, as it's only really missing MMS, multitouch, camcorder) if you crave AOSP, and I'm sure we won't be that far behind the curve in terms of getting JB.
The Gnex is a great phone, dont get me wrong, and not many people who've gotten a Nexus phone have ever really regretted it. But it's age is starting to show, and at this point, the LTEvo is definitely going to last longer technologically speaking.

True, but I would argue that this phone stock, Sense and all, runs about as smooth as the Gnex does stock as well. The spec difference is kind of less obvious due to Sense. Running stock ICS on this phone would really show the difference. Gaming as well. But as someone who does not game that much on a cellphone, I would say that the difference in power between the two, while admittedly large, isn't as huge when it comes to non-gaming performance, thanks to Sense.
This phone is still much better though. Even if someone doesn't completely understand how much more powerful it is, anyone can see that this phone can run something as heavy as Sense as smooth as the Gnex runs stock ICS.
Tl;dr: I agree with you.

For the international version correct? If you take a look at the American section for the SIII...it's rather dead.
I went in today to go play with the phone, and personally I wasn't a fan. For me and my uses it basically just came down to looks, and HTC EVO 4G LTE wins in that department for me. I also wasn't a fan of the home button, overall the LTE just felt much nicer in my hands, it has this nice heft that feels just right. It wasn't too heavy, but not so light I feel like I could break it, the SIII was lacking that.
Personally I've thought HTC phones have always had nice development, so I'm not too worried. The SIII would be rooted immediately for me to get rid of touchwiz, and switch to CM9, and I've tired of the stock android look, sense 4.0 is a nice visual change and I'm loving it. Touchwiz may be packed full of features (Some of those features can be ported to HTC, Ex: I had S-voice on my Sensation.)...but its ugly as sin. Then again Samsung could surprise us with a new version soon, because lets be honest, Sense 3.6 was ugly as sin too. :good:
In the end it all comes down to personal opinion. Development will probably be about even, I mean honestly, how many of the ROMs are you actually going to use?
They also have more development because they have source code and we don't ... Build quality on this phone ****s on Samsung

HTC why are you crippling the development of your recent devices? ive been a fan of htc. got the original G1, motorola cliq (FACCKKK WHAT A MISTAKE! hopefully moto made their devices better), nexus one, G2 and now.... the amaze
i got the amaze since day 1 of its release. hoping its development would blossom like the nexus one and G2. blehh guess it didnt! ive been looking through the threads here and it looks like HTC has issues releasing kernel sources and that severely cripples development. all we get are broken roms. its kinda irritating that HTC's dev community are practically bothering HTC about it yet they just give us generic answers lol im surprised dev's here got as far as they did without any support from htc
Im thinking about moving on to a new device... i was hoping to get another HTC phone (HTC ONE X+ anyone?) but who says that HTC might do what they did with the amaze again. Im thinking about transitioning to a new company all together? samsung? or maybe Motorola (their new QWERTY key boards are to die for). From reading reviews they look amazing but there is one issue its build quality... HTC makes the best phones when it comes to hardware. I wanted to get the galaxy nex but the specs isnt all that tantalizing. thats why im reluctant to move out. but im prlly borderline
The company thats prlly as good as HTC when it comes to build quality is SONY. Xperia S looks nice.. esp the transparent strip. But i want it to glow different colors like the xperia u. I just wish it would work on tmobile 4g. Other than that this is prlly on par to htc's build quality.
Hopefully HTC will make a new nexus device with killer specs this fall.
HTC Y U DO THIS?
I agree with u 110% I "moved on" to the galaxy nexus. And the older specs don't mean much, it obliterates the amaze in performance. But the build quality is real bad. Every time my phone vibrates it feels like its going to dismantle itself. I still have the amaze, and when I go back to play with it, its So slow and stuttery, but the phone feels so amazing in my hand I love the build quality. And the camera is MAGNIFICENT! Both phones have pros and cons! I give so much props to the Devs here they keep working at it even though htc is working against them :'(

yea! i was afraid of that... too light and too clunky. I mean the htc one S is light but it's build quality blows all of samsung's phones out when it came to that. but the development is amazing for gnex.... i want the paranoid rom ported to the amaze but thats aosp based lol and the amaze doesnt even have that yet!
htc must make the next nexus! ughhh no more samsung. i dont want to jump the band wagon yet.
considering google owns motorola now, by the time I'm ready to upgrade I wouldn't be surprised if I'll have a moto in my pocket. Aside from the build quality I can't stand for what HTC has done to its customers. I expect HTC to get worse too, so now that you know they're capable of doing what they've done, they won't get my business again

I have a case on my nexus. Still feels light and cheap. I didn't leave HTC for Samsung, I left ICS for jellybean lol
Jellybean is light years ahead of ICS and iOS lol
If htc makes the next nexus with one s/x build quality. I'm all over that like a virgin at the strip club!

Unfortunately it's pretty unlikely that we'll be seeing any ground-breaking development for the Amaze... We've been itching for a fully working AOSP ROM for at least half a year and even though we've got S-Off, it obviously hasn't made as much of an impact on the progress of AOSP ROMs as we had hoped.
I'm still using an Amaze, stock rooted and debloated, but I've pretty much given up hope on a viable AOSP ROM for this device. I've seen so many people post about saying how this beast of a device will finally be unleashed when blah blah blah blah but honestly, a GNexus with its inferior specs will hands down beat the Amaze into the ground in performance and smoothness.
This device was a total let down. The specs on paper looked awesome at the time and the build quality looked to be much better than other phones, and yet here we are with the capacitive button light bleed, camera flash leak, squeaking backplate, and god knows what else there may be.
All I can say is that I will probably never buy another HTC device in the future because of this experience.

One x/s build quality? S maybe but not x, x has so many hardware issues >.<
Samsung's quality is not really in question. It's just how it feels... A lighter phone is smarter and the plastic is a lot less likely to crack. My vibrant never creaked or had any weird physical issues. And chances are with a lighter phone the screen is less likely to break or crack from a fall. A lot of people like it. I personally love the feeling of the amaze in my hand. The weight gives the impression of it being more durable I like my phone having a little weight to it.
And I know there's a lot of talk about the amaze being poor but honestly I'm just happy we even got ics. Seriously, I had a sensation and this at the same time and this stock gb, compared to my sensation on ics aosp, the amaze was much smoother. May not be everyone's experience but was the case for me. Also I had multiple sensations that got dust under the screen very easily. And know several others with the same issue. I know the sensation is also HTC but to say the amaze was a failure or similar things, I have to disagree. As far as htc, yeah its a little disappointing what they've done. And Samsung is seeming to change for the better but back with my vibrant, the HTC devices I saw were getting froyo updates months before we had any signs of getting an update. Was quite frustrating. Ha back then all the talk was #neveragainsamung now it's htc. Interesting

Dang, you're like the 7th person I've read has gotten that dust issue, and to think I was going to buy the sensation, but decided to go with the amaze lol. I'm giving HTC one last chance, with the one x+ apparently, I'll see how it turns out, if it sucks I'll go with sammy and... Goodbye HTC

Ha yeah that dust was an epidemic! And it could happen at any time /shudders freaking nightmare I tell ya! And yeah I mean every phone company has their peak and their fall. Sammy hasn't been the best with updating their devices and while we had everything else working when we finally got custom roms not based on touchwiz it took an eternity to get gps working without them releasing the drivers. And gps blew anyway. I think it took the sgs ii the same time as us to get ics. It's not that Sammy is doing great customer relation business its just that htc is plummeting, making them look good and htc isn't thinking of the customer... No memory expansion, no battery removal. That's irritating to me. The grass is always greener though! I thought I saw Sony devices are pretty decent and updated pretty quickly that's hearsay though.

Yep no more HTC devices for me unless it is followed by Nexus. I feel like HTC really dropped the ball on this device.

plus the one series.... their flagship phones should have like tons of development... but damn the one S and X doesnt have development as i thought they would be
what if jellybean is released for the one S and X... then we have another problem with the kernal and that would prlly stop their development pretty much like the amaze if HTC refuses to release kernels... AGAIN.
HTC start listening to your costumers... people who do dev work is what makes up the android community :/ and you are letting us down big time
HTC sucks might buy a S3 soon
Someone here called the amaze " slow and stuttery" are you freakin serious this phone is so speedy and doesnt freeze at all . Amaze is still a awesome phone and it is going to be for awhile

I thought the same thing. Then I got the galaxy nexus, and its wp7/iOS smooth, stock not rooted or anything. And puts the amaze with a custom ROM and kernel to shame. Unfortunately. I'm not bashing, just stating facts. I still own the amaze just incase

And htc wonders why they are closing up shop and loosing business?
Like i said i give htc a couple more years and thatll be the end.
Its a shame great products, ruined by stupid politics and horrible customer service, including a fu disposition towards customers.
