I ordered a HCT One Dev Edition and was wondering about where to go to flash roms and for support. I'm with at&t, but since the phone is the Dev Edition I was wondering if I need to stick here or I should go to the forum without a specific carrier?
For now the none carrier specific forum. The devices are almost identical in hardware. So until the at&t branded is rooted that's were i would suggest getting roms because there wont be any here to speak of.
If I'm wrong please correct me but I'm pretty sure this is correct.

There is no "proper" forum since all of the devices are basically identical in hardware. In the AT&T "Development" forums you'll probably find ROMs based off of the AT&T firmware, complete with options for the carrier bloatware to be installed. To avoid that all together I would personally stick with the international (non-branded) forums. Eventually when the "Original Development" forums pick up then there won't be much of a difference. Until the developer edition ships to the U.S. customers, or until the bootloader is unlocked on the AT&T devices, I don't think we will see many ROMs being developed. By that time it will become a bit easier to navigate as the forums begin to blossom.
There is talk of combining the One boards into a single forum, which would really help to clarify the confusion I really hope they do that.
I never used US phone plans and haven't yet used a smart phone.
The previous owner, who claims that he like iOS better and wants to sell his SC3. It is from Verizon.
What do I need to know when buying from a previous owner?
How can I make sure the phone is not locked or deactivated after purchasing it? Shall I take it directly to Verizon shop and have it checked?
You ate in the wrong forum, this is the i9300 forum...NOT the Verizon variant forum.
Also there isn't any need to post twice in Q&A and general
I just found out that when you go to settings>General (Tab)> Security, there's an option "Set up SIM Lock". When I tap on it, I get 2 options, 1 saying "Lock SIM Card" and there's a box with a check mark on it. When I tap on this option, it asks me a code.
Now, after seeing this can anyone tell me whether we can remove the SIM lock by some sort of a code (like other GSM Note 3s)?
Can anyone refer to a website from where I can get the unlock codes?

People posting questions before searching for them is a big problem here on XDA. So much so, in fact, that it has become rule number one in our Forum Rules. Posting multiple Q&A threads not only makes those of us who answer questions exasperated, it also means floods the forum with multiple threads that essentially hold identical information. If there are 10 posts talking about updating your phone, it's easier to miss the 1 that refers to your specific problem.
Searching is a great tool here on XDA. I know that the mobile search functions aren't the best, but it's still possible to at least Google for it. A simple search for "international" in the Q&A and General Forums comes up with the following threads, all of which have relatively recent information:
[Q] Unlocking Sim for International use (Sprint) (Last reply May 22nd)
International Use Without Sprint unlock? (Last reply May 15th)
International sim unlock wasn't approved (Last reply April 29th)
It's always better to "bump" an existing thread than it is to create a new one, since it means less clutter on the site and it centralizes information (there are rules on bumping, though). A future person with the same question will see a post with 20+ replies and know it's worth reading.
Answer: Call Sprint
Currently, the only solution for unlocking your SIM for international use it to call Sprint and ask very nicely. It seems that Sprint isn't very keen on releasing this phone for international use, but some people have gotten them to do it. See post 11 in this thread.
I hope this adequately answers your question.

Thank you very much for your detailed reply but I've been following all these threads (and some more) for a long time and I know that only Sprint is unlocking it.
What I was wondering was that if there is an unlock option that requires a code, can any developer create an app that would try different combinations for 4 to 8 digits until the actual code is found and accepted.
I don't know much about development so I don't even know if this is even possible. That's why I asked here.
The lock you are looking at is not a lock/unlock for carriers but rather a security measure for the sim in the same way one can lock or encrypt an sd card.

First off sorry if this is in the wrong section. Anyway I'm considering trading my phone through Craigslist for a Galaxy s5 plus cash and is there anything I should worry about? Like after switching out the sim cards and testing to see if the phone works when we meet do I have to worry about anything after that? Can he report the phone stolen even after the phone is activated on my account and if so is there anyway to avoid that?

This is a link to the General GS7 forum thread.
I think, because the Sprint variant will probably not be rooted,
this info could be valuable to Sprint users specifically,
And, probably should be sticky'd, to keep at top of the Sprint forum.
