Xperia X10 keeps restarting - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My xperia x10i which is runnning on the android 2.3.3. Keeps on restarting continously for around 10 times then it can fully function. I've even tried flashing it many times but the same issue still happens, so I believe it's very likely to be a hardware problem. Also If I use the mobile internet it restarts automatically, but If I use internet through wifi then the phone fully works and doesnt restart. I'm wondering what the problem is on this phone?

Re-flashing was executed with cleaning of all user data?

Yes I have even reflashed it but it still restarts

Man I have the EXACTLY same problem.
It´s really annoying issue, I have the same opinion as you, maybe it´s hardware problem. I guess this is related to heating.
Is your country in a hot season? hehe

so are you running on stock se firmware? maybe it has some kind of bug, try flashing another kernel, check in the development section to see how...

Just to further clarify, did you format /data and /cache before installing the 2.3.3 ROM ? Because this is a reported issue when migrating from one android version to another without clearing the data.

Useless post. Try to be nice to a coleague that is having a problem.
Another info I forget to mention, I´m not using any overclock, this problem happens either with custom or stock kernels. So I guess this is not kernel related.

a new kernel or updating android OS will clean ur phone

I think it mainly has to do with the improper discharge of the battery. Try changing the battery. Many people say it solved their problems.

What do you mean by clear all user data? I used the original SE firmware to flash It. Once I rooted my phone and then I flashed it to get rid of it.

Same problem here. Sometimes just out of the blue but mostly when downloading via 3G. I never had a spontaneous reboot while using WiFi.
This started after installing stock firmware 2.3.3
Have tried a couple of things now:
- Reinstall stock firmware 2.3.3
- Unlock bootloader and load custom firmware (DooMKernel v6). Tried the full OC version, medium OC version and currently run the fail safe version
- Install custom rom (FeraLab) which is Android 2.3.7
Damn thing still keeps rebooting. And I still have a year left on my current plan...

Oh ryt, I noticed this issue when I flashed it on android 2.3 and would keep on restarting like 15 times. So I downgraded the firmware to 2.1 and it just restarts on if mobile internet is used. I have sent my phone to a recycle company, they will pay £91. Hopefully if they don't find this minor fault. Anyway I'm getting the samsung galaxy S - I9000 as a replacement. Samsung phones never restart lol.

Come on guys, anyone please?
This is a very annoying problem. I did a research on google and it seems to be a known hardware bug.

1. If you mean that when you turn off WiFi you have no 3G for a minute or two - that is completely normal for android as it disables 3G whilst WiFi is enabled. It takes a little while to connect sometimes. If you mean the signal levels to your service provider - that's completely different and a very odd issue to say the least.
2. Slow with FC's usually means something in the wipe didn't work properly or some apps are conflicting. Try a fresh install (without backups if possible) and see if they carry on happening. Then try restoring the backups (after say a week or so) and see if it comes back.
Alot of this is trial and error. We have no idea how your phone is set up and which apps you have installed etc.
I will say that it is not usual to see either of these issues and a wipe and reflash has the best likelyhood of fixing the problems.

Something most likely got messed up when the cord fell of, have you tried recovery through SEUS? If that doesn't work use flash tool to flash the appropriate firmware.

Oh ok, from an anime i suppose?
Well the custom firmware still uses some elements of the stock. So if the custom doesn't overwrite an area that was messed up with it's own configurations you'd still be gimped. So reflashing stock or repair should fix it up for you.

[Q] Experiencing random reboots

After sometime my cell phone is rebooting all times.
If it goes idle and I press the button to wake it, it reboots.
I've used some custom roms including CM7.
After I restored to my original firmware which is Claro Brazil, it keeps rebooting all time .
Anyone know what can I do? I even sent it to motorola and they don't do a thing. All they say is that it don't have any defect .
Thank you

I've flashed that build of ICS of dev thread and it seems to be rebooting less times.
How did you flash the rom?
Are you using romracers recovery?
Did you do a full wipe before flashing the rom?
You might make sure you have romracers latest recovery,
and then run this script for a full wipe:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421261&highlight=moto-fastboot+script
and then load a new rom and see if that fixes it.
You can also flash the Kernel and the radio too.

First I installed IHOP_Bell.sbf with sbf_flash to be able to unlock with moto-fastboot. After that did install CWM.
All my roms are installed with CWM with its cache/data and stuff wipe.
How can I know the right kernel and radio for me?
Same for me. I think this is a radio issue, where can we find lastest radio? Do we need to flash it like rom via RR CWM?
Thanks.
I get random reboots all the time. I was thinking it was a problem with wireless or bluetooth... Last time it rebooted was this morning, I docked it before going to bed, and 5 minutes later i hear the double-ding of it mounting internal storage at boot. At the time it wasn't running anything but the dock-widget clock.
I've had it reboot while on the bus listening to music with the phone in my pocket, I've had it reboot while docked and sitting idle, but youtube and flash are the real killers while actually using the phone, for me at least.
I find it reboots less if I leave wireless and bluetooth off, but what is the good in that?
I've had the random reboots probably since I upgraded to gingerbread, but even moreso after Bell 2.3.6 OTA.
I wonder if there is a way to prevent it from rebooting, so we can see what actually causes it to spontaneously reboot.
Im getting random reboots too, but figured it was from the build of CM7 i'm running (23-Nov. Was thinking of doing a full wipe then reload sometime this week. will report my results.

Now I'm trying this new Radio:

I will tell you if it will fix the problem.
Hi there,
I also have random reboots on my Atrix.
Till now, I tried to change rom, recovery, reset data factory, use no apps, etc. But it never worked, and the reboots are still happening without any logical explanation.

I'll try changing it this evening, maybe it will fix things.

[Q] x10i Keeps Rebooting.

Hello,
I have flashed a few custom ROMs onto my x10i and each time it reaches the lock screen when it starts up it just seems to go into a reboot loop from kernel splash screen to lock screen again. Is there any fix for this ? I have tried using SEUS and restarting the whole process of flashing a kernel, rooting etc but it doesn't seem to work. it literately only happens when it reaches the lock screen. sometimes it lasts longer than that. Whenever I wipe the system it seems to work fine but as soon as a few things are running it starts to reboot again. The current ROM I'm running is PAC-man, with the kernel supplied along with it.
Could anyone help me ?
Thanks,

I have the same problem
use the phone until the battery become empty charge it in off mode up to 100 enter in xrecovery advanced options wipe battery stats and reboot
maybe you did an error when flashing or it runs wrong kernel. my suggestion : just use another ROM there are many nice ROM you can choose, and dont forget to follow step by step installation guide provide by developers.
Is the rom overclocked as this can can happen on some devices try and set the CPU to 998

That usually happens when the ROM is using overclocked CPU settings or an unstable CPU governor as default but it can also be defaulted inside the kernel. You simply flash another kernel and appropriate ROM.

[Q] Device freezing and rebooting

Hello,
For the past months I've been experiencing a lot of problems with my device: The device frozes or slow up with no apparent reason. It happens either when I'm in Whatsapp, or Facebook, or just listening music. It doesn't look to have any special app to behave like that. Locking and unlocking the screen becomes a pain and at some point after freezing it just turns off or reboot. Sometimes it just reboots even when I don't use it.
At the beginning I thought that the problems were related to the operator stock rom, then I jumped to Rootbox rom and nothing has changed. The phone keeps freezing and rebooting.
I've read that it might be related to a RAM issue, but I don't know if still have warranty so I'd like to check out everything else before taking it to a specialist.
Any idea or advice?
Fer
When you were on the 'operator stock ROM', was it rooted stock? My only idea is that it's possibly kernel related, ie unstable kernel. Try flashing full stock unrooted and see what happens? Else yes, probably hardware unfortunately

This morning I reflashed to stock rom from my carrier, NO ROOT (stock kernel). So far I've had no problems. The phone runs smoothly and the battery life is okay. I have not experimented any of the problems like the ones listed above.
I'll keep informing along the week.
A factory reset + dalvik wipe combo would be wise.
Tho you need CWM or Mobile Odin to wipe dalvik.
PS: Root has got nothing to do with this.

excuse me, but root doesnt change the kernel to a kernel with custom recovery? I say this cuz now with stock kernel im not experimenting any issue, which I had with stock+siyah and rootbox ROM.
No, root gives you admin access to your device.
A custom kernel will give you CWM.
Of course the only way to keep it all stock with root is with Mobile Odin Pro EverRoot option, framaroot, ExynosAbuse and any one-click-root.
