Hi guys, actually I've noticed this quite a while but I just remembered to post now.
My Razr touch screen sometime behaves erratically during charging; miss-touch, or register touch but in wrong area, auto-touch (not touched but acted as if touched), etc. This behaviour happen most when I use my samsung and htc charger, or my car charger. But with the original shipped one it also happens albeit not so often.
Has anyone of you noticed this too...?
Same here, it is not serious though.
I have that problem too!
yep, same here.
I did not have this problem on my original RAZR but it happens on my replacement one.

Yep, on replamcements you will get this effect. Check Amperage and Voltage on both.
I only get it with non-stock chargers.

Been this way since the OG DROID. Why are you all using other chargers on your phones?
Actually other chargers damaged the OG DROID to the point where it was permanent using certain ebay chargers, flaky screen like reported here, or even where the screen would not be responsive, even after off the ebay charger.

Well, mr syntrix there are few points to address here:
1. AFAIK there are on going effort to standardize wall chargers so they can be interoperable. At least in EU if i'm not mistaken. As consumer, we gotta love this movemement. Shall we not?
2. By other charger we mean not cheap chinese imports but original chargers from HTC and Samsung ones.
3. Shame for Moto if its charger not interoperable since i used HTC and Samsung charger on other phones and it work just fine. Even razr's charger also worked like a charm on other phones. So why not the other way around?
Please moto unlock our boot, err.. i mean, chargers! LOL

So a little while ago I purchased a Galaxy SII and had a problem with the phone charging, it was at times unusable, screen was unresponsive sometimes etc.. etc.. I took it back, they didn't have another one so I didn't buy another one.
I just bought another one a couple days ago and I've always been a lurker here, but I had the SAME problem with the one I bought yesterday. I returned it today and exchanged it, and this one while not as frequent or severe, is also doing the exact same thing. Only while charging. It's the charger that came with the phone, the cord that came with the phone...
I don't get it. Is it some sort of electrical interference in my outlets perhaps?
From my understanding, its the charger. Sometimes while charging, my screen is unresponsive or inaccurate. On my Captivate, using the device while it was on the charger made it totally unusable. I mean its was extremely inaccurate and irritating
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Saw this happen with my captivate, it's 100% the charger. Tried it with 2 different captivates, both became unresponsive while charging. It happened to be one of those cheap ones from ebay..Just order another one, or better yet a generic usb charger+cable.
I noticed HTC chargers don't generally cause this. I'm using one right now and it hasn't done it since I switched..

The HTC charger is a full 1 amp charger, if you can manage to read that fine print on it. The Sammy charger is only 0.7 amps. That might make a difference. I picked up an Energizer 10W/2 amp charger that works like a charm on my SGS2; has the same rating as the charger for my Galaxy Tab, but won't charge my tab for some reason.
I actually have an outlet in my kitchen that has a USB port in the outlet. I plugged it into that last night and the problem went away. Man, I feel like an idiot. Months of using an iPhone when I could of been flashing my GS2 to my hearts content. LOL.
What about an iPhone plug?

According to the fine print on an iPhone plug, it's rated at a full 1 amp too. I charge my SGS2 with it all the time with no problems.
That only happened to me with cheap non-Samsung chargers.. Happens with the AT&T charger, for instance.
this happened to me too but only when my charger was plugged into a cheap extension cord

I too have used iPhone chargers for the samsung. They are both constant voltage chargers and so will work for the Li Ion battery, but know that it is a stronger charger (and is faster) so not best for the samsung battery. In fact it's not best for the iPhone battery either.
iPhone: 5 volts 1 amp.
SGS2: 5 volts 0.7 amp
*heat is the ultimate enemy of Li Ion batteries, another reason to not use the stronger charger.
Yeah I had the same problem, and actually I still do have that problem with my SGS2
Its the charger for sure. One of the pins inmy charger actually shakes as in its not set rigid.
So when I plug in the wall, I have to make sure I put it in at an angle so that the pin can be powered.
It charges perfect with a friends SGS2 charger
I have seen similar problems on a car inverter I have with just about any charger. When Plugged in the touch screen acts like it is being tapped by a swarm of drunk bees. When I plugged into a cigarette lighter usb plug it works great. Bad power, bad cords, and bad chargers, these phone just go nuts if there is something they don't like on the power input.

I have a USB cable from my old Nokia E series so I plugged it in my Atrix and see the phone charged, connected to PC. Is there any harm to the Atrix of doing that for long period? If not I can use it as office charger for the hungry Atrix. Thanks

ya you will be fine i also have use a assortment of none OEM cables and have not has any sort of issue
only issue I found is that when I use my gf's LG charger the screen becomes non responsive, but as soon as i unplug it it comes back. only doesn't work when plugged in. but it still charges fine.

I got same issue on mine. That's bit annoying actually.
@ OP
It still being micro USB, it isn't a motorola stuff but a general standard... It may probably be slower to charge.
You can read about it on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus#Charging_ports_and_accessory_charging_adapters
(I can't link as I don't have enough posts, sorry)
some cables have better quality even if not branded. try it out on your pc, connect a lot of devices so the electricity consumption increases and if the Atrix doesn't lose connection it's a good cable.
btw, the problem with the touch screen happens with all capacity touch screen devices due to itself works with static. some chargers/cables will give you this problem and there are even some models (mostly Motorola) that get affected easily, although Atrix is not one of them, yay!

Hi ...
Yesterday away from home I didn't have my original S3 charger with me so I tried to charge it using a generic charger and it didn't work, so I tried with another one and that didn't work too. I tried with three different generic chargers and all didn't work so finally I had to manage an original HTC charger and that one worked so my question is whether not a single generic charger will work with S3 and only the original one will work or is there something can be done in this regard as I can't always have my original charger with me.
Thanks.
S1/S2/BlackBerry all work for me
Some generic chargers work. They do mostly say on the package so you will want to check. I have galaxy s, desire, optimus, galaxy note, xperia arc s chargers that all work on s3. Korean galaxy note don't work though..

I bought an portable charger from abker that works well, got another for charging in the car and that works fine too. But I am rooted and on a custom rom though. I think samsung has something built in to not let generic chargers work.

I use a generic charger from HAMA. It works just perfect.
It's depending on current potential
The original charger has output current of 1A, some generic charger doesn't have that much potential, so I guess that's why not working.
Some of the bad quality may charge your battery, but also will interferes your touch screen operation which means your screen would unresponsive or go crazy when you charge it...

For the screen going haywire/unresponsive (Touchscreen Electromagnetic Interference), the problem is with your charger. Low quality chargers have a lot of 'noise' and may not provide a stable current as well. Get rid of such chargers...
As for the charging itself, the quality of the USB cable has an effect as well. Low quality cables may not even be able to allow 1A of charge.
Install "Battery Monitor Widget" to monitor the charging process.
If you just want to know the charge received by the phone, just install "CurrentWidget"
Okay, this is a weird one. When charging my phone, almost every single time, it will charge up to about 76-83%, and then stop. However, if I unplug it and then plug it back in it will resume charging like normal up to 100%. I mean this is bizarre...is it a battery calibration issue, perhaps?
Edit: Happens on any/every ROM I use.

You mean the usb box from ur galaxy s2.... If so each box may have a different output for each phone..... For instance when i use my daughters charger it takes 5 times longer to charge my og than the og charger so that may be ur problem.
Via LG OG running Rootbox 4.2.2
Had the same thing too and as described in the post above it is in fact due to the output. Just compared my old but still kicking s2 and my og charger and the og charger has a much greater output.
Yeah lgog charger is 5v 1.2a. It's very nice. We also gotta qualcomm technology called quick charge or something like that that enables the battery to charge substantially faster without damaging itself. It's a logic chip in the phone and improved battery chemistry from LG. Asian manufacturers have a huge portfolio of products and are weirdly driven to diversify in all directions. LG has their own chemical company, and that's who makes our pimp batteries. I stuck with HTC for 7 years, but if LG flagship phones continue to have decent development then I'll probably stick with LG for a while. It's cool that they manufactured the entire phone from scratch except the SoC, no other company can really say that besides Samsung. And they're both Korean companies. Btw, south Korea is a great place to vacation.

It looks as though I need to pay attention a bit more. I was using the LG wall charger, however, I wasn't using the right cable. I was using my Samsung cable. The Samsung cable is longer and reaches to where I can charge and play with the phone at night. I'll try the cable it actually came with and see if it continues to pull the same trick. The LG cable is definitely thicker.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
I totally agree with you on the length of the cable and is why I was also using the s2 charger as well. If you need the extra length you can probably get by using an s3 charger. I steal my girlfriend's s3 charger from time to time just because I want a little more mobility than two feet and it charges the phone just fine with very similar output ratings....... 1.0 amps compared to 1.2 amps of the og charger.
I've had something similar happen recently. The phone will either charge extremely fast or extremely slow. I usually charge my phone at about 30% and sometimes it will charge fully in about 90 minutes and others it will take up to 8 hours, with the slowest part being in that 73-87% range you describe. I always use the LG charger and cable because its the only one that I have. I'm running code fire's CFX ROM if that helps anyone out.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
That's some weird stuff. I'm getting good performance right now using the stock cable with a belkin 1A cigarette lighter to USB adapter. But last week I grabbed a cheapo Chinese retractable cable that was in my wife's car and plugged it into the built in USB port in the car (don't know what it's rated output is) and the battery drained VERY fast... Roughly one percent every minute or 2. Freaked me out... Certainly appears to me this phone is temperamental about cables...

yeah had the same probably with a car charger with my og and to think about it my s2 as well, I travel a lot for my job and constantly use gps while traveling and I've found that a lot of those cheapo car chargers you pick up from gas stations may charge the phones while inactive don't really charge them very well while in use. I could watch my battery percent fall while charger on both my s2 and og while using navigation, ended up finding a high output charger at a truck stop with a cord the size of a cb radio lol and havent haven't had any issue with it since. This is with stock and custom rom, even reverted back to stock a couple times to make sure that it wasn't the custom firmware that was causing the issue. Guess the makers of cheap chargers haven't caught up with the big batteries todays smart phones pack, should of hold on to my bag phone charger a little longer lol!!

That's on thing i do miss about having a removable battery though, is the fact that a large part of my job is in very dusty dirty environments ....i.e. steel, aluminum mills and other high temp dusty and dirty as hell places is that i could remove my battery and feel safe while using a little contact cleaner. Now og days i play it safe with air. But either way i don't think that has anything to do with the use of cheap chargers lol. Best bet would be to stick with oem or pay the extra price tag for those high out put chargers that att offer.
Guys lemme start of by saying I love the LG V10. Had it for well over a month now, recently like 2 days ago my charger just stopped working? Most chargers I got to plug in and out like 20 times for it to charge my phone, its charges super slow and is getting really annoying... Can anyone help me... Like I dont want to get rid of my phone, but I refuse to have to have a second battery, that I have to charge in a cradle to keep my phone on, I want to be able to just use the charger.
It seems to me its not the cord? more than the phone, I got one cord that works, but it barely charges the phone... HELP PLEASE
edit:
called LG they basically told me to shove it. Said I can send my phone, wait till they recieve it then they will try to fix it if not they will send me a REFURBISHED DEVICE my device is basically brand new perfect condition besides this and a screen burn already? Makes no sense to me I told them they can get back to me and correct whatever issue this is and stand behind there product, not send me someone elses used and abused device when mine is in great shape or they can shove it and I will be switching companies...
Are u using the OEM charger that came with the phone? It uses a higher amperage/voltage to quick charge the battery. A charger that outputs in say, 1.0A will charge it VERY SLOW...
