Same filesize and MD5 for the "Blur_Version.6.11.748.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip" between leaked update (by yours truly) and the official soak test OTA to 6.12.173. Just to let everyone interested in the subject know. Although most of you already knew where to find that info... I am not allowed to help you guys find it anymore though. Linking to another phone site is against XDA rule 11. to not sell things. I was graciously reminded of that when most of my posts were deleted today ^_^
I did this already thanks to the info on the other site for Verizon users.
Here's what i found i needed to do.
1. Root
2. install OTA rootkeeper, save root and unroot
3. hold both volumes plus power to get to fastboot
4. press both volumes to get to the built in Moto-recovery
5. install the above zip
6. restore rootkeeper's root.

you don't have to temp unroot. You can just install the update and then restore root afterwards.

I had problems doing that, would not restore root no matter what I did. I had gone ahead and flashed .174 so I had to fastboot back to .744 and try again, but temp unrooting before each update.

It's a great update, EXCEPT... you can no longer disable the battery full notification / chime, and the battery full notification triggers a red flashing LED that can't be cleared.
I take that back - you CAN disable the notification option, but it doesn't make any difference.
Oh, and this overrides any other notifications that use the LED.
Three steps forward, one back.
there is already a 2.36 realease Blur_Version.651.167.20.XT910.Retail.en.EU + BP 03.1C.91P + WT 2.0.0-139 + Bootloader 0A.6C
so whats the need for this unless its CDMA?

Updated DeSense for both, ICS and GB, roms. Changes are NO LONGER permanent.
What can I use this for?:
- set your mainver to accept any of the rezound PH*.zip files while using bootloader
- change look and feel of your rom from sense to something else
- remove extra apps not needed to use your phone
- install apps you need before logging into market
- easily reboot into recovery/bootloader w/o pulling the battery
- block ads
- fix bluetooth on ICS roms
Instructions:
** Must ALREADY be rooted before running (htc Dev Unlock)**
- HTC Drivers must be installed on PC
- USB Debugging turned on for phone
- Connect via usb and charge only
- extract zip somewhere and double click DeSense_v#.bat
- Choose option in menu
Extra steps (recommended)
- Prior to de-sense, log in to all your accounts and setup the intial syncing because you may not be able to once you have de-sensed. Syncing should work after you de-sense if you do this...
Optional:
- Nandroid backup your phone in case you run into issues.
Available options:
**1** DeSense for both ICS and GB
Removes Sense UI. Must have a launcher already installed!!!
**2** Fix Bluetooth on ICS roms
Thx to JoelZ. Click here and thank/donate!
**3** Restore
Restores all of the original apk's you have removed using this util
**4** Install apps (choice menu)
Included apps are:
- wifi tether
- es file explorer
- titanium backup
- Swype
- Nova Launcher (ICS Only)
**5** Remove more HTC, Verizon & google extras
Now removes even more apps!!! If you need something back that this removed, you can use any root exploring program to move the apk from /system/bkup/ to /system/
**6** Change Mainver to universal
Will set your MainVer to "1.00.000.0". This should allow you to install any rom's boot image without getting a mainver error.
Big thanks to drellisdee. Click here to thank/donate!
**7** Remove HTC Lockscreen
Removes HTC circle lockscreen and reverts to default android (NOTE: See Troubleshooting/Issues below, before performing this option*.)
**8** Install ICS notification bar and settings (!!!do not use!!!)
do not use this option as most of (if not all) the newer roms will not be based off the 3.0.11
**9** Install ad-block hosts file
This will block ads in your browser(s) and apps. Must reboot to take effect.
**0** Reboot (choice menu)

Does the wifi tether charge against normal data or will carrier detect and add?
Also, is there a list of all items frozen? I've been slowly freezing htc stuff with zerg/titanium bu and I know I missed some stuff out of caution/uncertainty/fear.

if you open the batch file with any text editor you can see what gets disabled. If you disable an apk twice, it will not affect your phone. So no worries about re-freezing frozen stuff.
wifi tether uses root to provide the service, i cannot make any guarantees to what Verizon will or will not do. I have been using this apk for a while without issues, but I am not making any claims. This stuff is always "use at your own risk"!
The program uses your phone data connection (which is part of your data plan) to provide wifi to other devices i.e. other phones, laptops, desktops, ps3's, etc. If you have limited data plan you can go over the limit using this app.

First, thank you - I'm a rooting newb - but have rooted many of my devices in the past. I own the Sprint HTC Evo 4G LTE and was one of those users that was having many data connect/disconnect & latency issues. I rooted the phone after buying to try several fixes - none worked.
I then installed the upgrade - and am now on 1.22.651.3 71ORD.
My problem is I've tried to remove the SuperSU app using the FULL UNROOT option but it fails and I am unable to remove the app.
Is there a fix for this?
Many thanks!

I did the same thing, hoping that "survival" mode in SuperSU would help me out and keep me rooted anyway.
I had rooted my phone because I couldn't get into Google Wallet to clear settings, to run the HTC bootloader unlock without killing my NFC secure element. I read about editing the build.prop file, but decided that wasn't the route for me.
I can't uninstall SuperSU now. I believe "survival" mode tricks the phone into thinking it's a system level app, so there's no way to get it off if it doesn't maintain root privileges.
I'm just waiting now for regaw to update his simplified HTC bootloader unlock program to work with the new **.3 update.
No real issues having it on the phone. It'll come off when I get the bootloader unlocked and flash a new rom.
I'm curious as to why you guys are trying to remove supersu?

Well I was trying to RUU last night and had to relock my bootloader. Upon doing so, SuperSU was unable to open as it needed to update binary and stayed on the "installing...." screen. So I haved tried all I could to go about unrooting and removing SuperSU as well for this particular reason so I'm assuming maybe these two are possibly in the same boat?
Looks like its time to use root explorer to remove the APK for superuser, if the normal uninstall didn't work?

I'd love to know how to do this? Quite the newb here. To answer the previous question as to why I'd want to remove SU - it's rather simple - the update to the phone made it so that SU doesn't work anymore and thus just wanting to remove it so as to try again when the new update is cracked (assuming it isn't - but I've been away for a week).
How to remove the SU (apk) and (bin) files...
Hello ALL,
I know this is an old post...but I'm just submitting this in case no one found a way to remove the SU thingy...
I'm a noob too...but i managed to remove SU from my phone.....here's how..
- Download and Install ES FILE EXPLORER from Google play store
- Open the app and press MENU
- Scroll down you will see -> Root Explorer
- Switch all the dots on the right side (RW)
- Then click OK and exit MENU by pressing on ....uhhhh....MENU
- Now on top you will see a /
- Click on it and navigate to 'system -> bin
- look for the SU file and hold and select it to delete (if its not there, no worries)
- Go back to the previous page and select the folder named XBIN and look for the SU file and delete it
- go back again and now go to the APP folder and look for SU Apk file and delete it (same way - hold and select and delete)
- Finally on top there is a drop-down menu where you can select DEVICE as search criteria, select it and do a search (at the bottom)
- type SU and you will see another .APK file
- Select and delete
That should do it....Reboot your phone...and Voila!
Well it worked for me...Lemme know it this helped (everyone)
Hi!
Can someone please help?
I, too, am trying to remove the SuperSU. According to root checker, my device (Xperia C3 Android 5.1.1) is rooted. SuperSU is a system app (no clue how that happened).
I tried the method mentioned by thegreatbigmouth. However, when I turn on the "Root Explorer" option, I get a popup saying "Sorry, this feature can't work on this device".
Can anyone help me unroot my device and remove SuperSU?
Rooted, but constantly getting the system update (already downloaded) notifications .
Methods I found from search and did not work:
- Renamed and moved otacerts.zip.
- Deleted the ota update from Cache
Have not yet attempted:
- Accept the update, which will supposedly fail due to the missing files, thus stopping the update, and the notification.
Before I resort to making that leap, what did you guys do to stop it?
Thanks a bunch!

Wish I had know about that, mistakenly updated to 10g and lost root
Here's my dilemma. I had been getting tired of the notification. So I let it do it's thing. Upon reboot it gave me the Triangle Android boot screen. Nothing was installed. After a battery pull it started up fine. Now I don't have a recovery. I had CWM installed with the old Prada apk. I tried using the install again. Reboot to recovery just reboots phone. Any advice?

All I had to do was watch it fail once and then the notification went away, but I have heard that if that does not stop the stupid update notices you can go into /cache and find the 28 or so mb file for the update (it has a fairly distinctive name), copy the filename, delete the file, and create an empty file, then paste that name you copied from the real update as the name for the blank file. Then, when your favorite little notification pops up, press install now and watch the red triange pop up. Now, just hold power button until it powers off, then turn it on, and alakazam, no more update irritation. Also, one reason the update sometimes doesn't go through is if you have deleted any of T-Mobile's bloatware. If you do want the update to install, your best hope for restoring the bloatware is in this thread HERE. Good Luck!
While I can't vouch for anything else besides the P675 10e Tmobile version, the following method will stop the update prompts. It *should* work on all ICS and JB devices, including Nexus.
0. Root, if you haven't already.
1. Download AutoRun Manager
2. In ARM, choose "Advanced"
3. Touch the wrench icon, and check
- Show System Entries
- Enable System Application Disable
4. Back on the application list, tap the refresh (circle arrow) icon if you don't see system apps. They should have a red background.
5. Find the app Google System Framework (aka: GSF) and tap it.
6. Uncheck the "com.google.<something>.gsf.update.SystemUpdate" receivers. I can't read my own handwriting at the moment, but they both end in SystemUpdate.
And there you go. I've been update free for at least 18 hours, and it's persisted through reboots. The receivers have yet to start back up.
Most ICS and JB devices should receive update notifications via the Google Services Framework, not the manufacturer's update applications. The manufacturer might have their own update procedures/apps/scripts once the update is downloaded and ready to install, but the notifications should all be handled by the GSF.
Personally, I tried freezing and even deleting all LGE update related apps (omadmclient [or whatever it's called], fota [several variants], and more), deleting the downloaded update, deleting the SSL certs, and even using a pm command in a shell script that ran every 5 minutes to kill all LGE update related modules. Nada. The only thing that worked was the above method.
I've also heard -- what DatNexus mentioned -- accepting the udpate then hard rebooting works, too. But it's not as universal (my Nexus 7 still kept prompting me, for example) and there's always a chance that accepting an update later on will brick or otherwise damage the file system rather than just fail outright.

I haven't seen that on my MK2 phone. I'd say that accepting any new security updates is a bad idea if you want to keep rooted.
Are you referring to that "security policies update" that pops up in the notification panel? I have seen that myself, a couple of times. I just ignore it as well. Kind of afraid to update any kind of security on this thing.

Annoying security update pop-up that won't go away
I received the 4.4.2 Verizon update and periodically I get a pop-up that wants me to sign up/sign in to the Samsung website and become a member before I can read the privacy policy. Since I do not have access to this policy as I will not sign up/provide marketing and SPAM information to Samsung I have to decline the option each time.
How do I prevent this unreasonably frequent demand for my personal information interfering with my use of my Note 2/Verizon?
I am stock rooted 4.4.2 and getting these pop ups every few days. I have not accepted yet either afraid to mess up root.

I got an update request today as well on my 4.2.2 MDK S4 (root and unlocked bootloader). I opened the update details and it said that it was from "SDM app" (package name=> com.samsung.sdm).
SDM 1.0 has the following APK paths:
/system/app/SDM.apk
/system/app/SDM.odex
So I did the following:
1) opened TiBu
2) Restored SDM 1.0 to recent backup (last sunday) --> update alert stayed
3) Deleted SDM 1.0 App+data --> alert gone, but it didn't actually delete the app (not sure why)
4) Froze SDM 1.0
5) Backed up the "frozen" SDM 1.0
As a safety precaution, I also froze "Samsung Updates" (com.sec.android.app.samsungapps) and "SamsungHubUpdater" (com.sec.everglades.update)
Also, I couldn't find the spdclient.apk file (even did a search with ES File Explorer with no results)...i think i already removed it when I first rooted it back in February
NOTE:
The update i got had the following URL in the text: www[dot]verizonwireless[/url][dot]com/galaxys4update ... redirects to www[dot]verizonwireless[dot]com/support/system_update/6872.html with the following update details:
***************
Benefits of Software Upgrade (*PDF)
Benefits of downloading and installing the new software enhancements.
Software Update Instructions (*PDF)
Download the latest software for your Galaxy S4 by Samsung.
Software Update Assistant (SUA) for your Galaxy S4 by Samsung (PDF*)
Software Repair Assistant (SRA) for your Galaxy S4 by Samsung (PDF*)
SUA - The Software Update Assistant (SUA) verifies whether your device has the most recent software. When a software update is available and your device is connected to a PC or Mac® with a USB cable, the SUA provides an option to install the most recent device software. Additional benefits, instructions and specifications are outlined in the link above.
SRA - When the device is connected to a PC or Mac® with a USB cable, the Software Repair Assistant (SRA) will address device issues caused by unapproved or faulty software on the device. Any option for unrooted users?
This is really REALLY annoying to have to opt out 3-5 times a day.
I was getting the same message - I finally clicked on it and was presented with the ACCEPT/DECLINE for the TOS - I selected DECLINE and was given the option to not be notified of "Security Updates" again (with instructions on how to re-activate them.

If you're unrooted why are you opting out? There's no real way to stop it without root because its a system app. Maybe try looking for it in the application manager and see if you can uncheck notifications? Not positive if that's possible because I haven't been on stock tw in a long time

I do not want to let Samsung gather any/all data from my phone as I have read that the agreement allows.

For me I get the information where I can change this in the settings after declining and I still have to decline about 3-5 times a day.
I would expect that there are some items that might be able to be deleted with something like "NoBloat", so as not to be badgered by the notifications.

Thanks DeathStalker... I am not ready to root this phone yet. So, NoBloat is unlikely to help.

So if we're rooted (which I am) and we install tibu, what are the apps responsible? I just got the notification again today, so just declining doesn't resolve it

SDM is the update manager. The security policy updates app is called, er, "Security policy updates".
I also have ELM Agent and Verizon Support & Protection frozen.

RECENT APPS:
Some of you may notice the recent apps button re-mapped as menu. This is due to a conflict between disabling the virtual keys and displaying the Menu. If you would like to revert this change, flash the "Recent Apps" patch in recovery. Be aware that if reverted, some apps might not display the menu button.
Circle Widget:
As you know, the Moto X does not have the Droid Circle Widgets from factory. If you would like to flash the widget, simply flash the Circle widget patch from the patches folder of the package. Credit to @CornholioGSM for the source from the Photon. Needed editing and updating to work with the Droid Maxx port.

It is from the xt1060. My 4.4.3 port is the xt1053. You download the right one? Lol. It does not have the reboot mod. I can do some research and make a patch for it. Been running this port for over 24 hours now. Smoothhhhhhhh
I edited the build.prop to reflect 1080 but can't get it to report as 1080 when plugged into to the computer. Will research further.
Ok can check and see if you have an option for setting in google now. When I open the app the 3 dots to get into settings is not there also you cant launch google search just by saying "ok google" from the home screen you have to open the app. Yeah I downloaded the correct one but when I connected my maxx to the computer it showed xt1053 for the sdcard. Now it says droid maxx I don't care as long as everything works and is seems to be all good except the google now.

Yeah that's a compatibility issue. Working on a patch for that. For now just use the recent apps button as the menu button. Should be set like that after the display patch.
Didn't try the google now thing.

To get the circles to work did you just transplant Motlauncher from the 1080? Or did you modify the app? I ask because I want to be able to use TiB to restore all my stuff. Home screens are really time consuming to set up his I like. And time setting everything back up is holding me back atm

I had to transfer permissions and lib files etc. Do this. Flash the port. Flash the display fix. Flash the circle widget. Then go to TiBu and restore data only to the launcher. That should yield the result you want. Again data only.

Well I found a work around I downloaded the google launcher it gave me the 3 dots to get into settings by sliding to the left screen that has google now on it. then search for google everywhere from that screen (you need to do this to get the option) and then open the settings. Click on voice and select ok google detection from there choose any screen. you will be able to now launch google even when using mot launcher. However there is still no menu in the google now app. And to answer your question yes this worked on the maxx 4.4.4. This is not a big issue I never change anything in google now and if I need to I just will change to the google launcher if I need to make any changes then switch back to the motlauncher so dont' kill yourself finding a fix it is not necessary.

Big, the recent apps button is the menu button. If you hit it, the menu pops up. That is unless you flashed the recent apps patch.

I think you misunderstood me not the recent apps button that works fine I flashed the zip. If you open the google now app there is option for settings at the bottom of the page. There should be 3 dots so you can add or delete cards that you wish to pop up in google now. The only way to access that is through the google launcher now. Why I have no idea.

Its a compatibility issue. If you revert the recent apps button back to menu, you'll be able to access the menu anytime you tap that button. That's how I have mine set up.
Thats the way it was back in the droid RAZR/bionic days when we actually had menu buttons.

Yeah figured it was something like that it's no big deal like I posted there is a work around to get it to work and still keep the recent apps button. I would rather have that then the menu button.
