When i got my xperia x10 the android version was 2.3.x (i dont know the last number any more), but i couldnt use it with my new sim-card (different provider), so i took it to a store where a guy sim-unlocked it and when i got it back the android version was 2.1.1-update..........but it was sim-unlocked, i then asked this guy if i could update it to 2.3.x or if it would be locked again after the update........he didn't really seem to know but told me not to update because it would relock just as an iphone does he said.......but as i said before, he didnt really seem to know.
So my question is, will it be sim-locked again after i update to 2.3.x (with pc-companion) or not, i really need to be absolutely sure, i dont want to pay (35€) again.
Thanks in advance

Not 100% but no don't think it will re-lock. I'd get a definitive yes or no though I don't want to ruin your phone (as I said, not 100%)

thanks but the problem is that the guy i bought the phone from (not the one in the shop!) told me it was unlocked and he just updated it before he gave it to me and he could still use it with two different sim-cards from two different providers, but i couldnt use it with my sim-card (3rd other provider).........he didnt know why it didnt work with my sim-card, but after the guy in the shop downgraded it to android 2.1 and sim-unlocked it (again???) it worked,..........so i am actually a bit confused because everyone except of the guy in the shop tells me it wont relock but it seems that it has relocked (to 2 different providers???) after the guy i bought it from updated it..........CONFUSIIIIIING
Thats why i really need to be a 100% sure, maybe i need a real expert?!
Mine was unlocked and 2.1 had the same dilema but upgraded it anyway and it remained unlocked....
Thats my story anyway if it helps.
Edit: maybe it's unclear but mine was locked and unlocked just as yours

ok, but are there different ways to unlock the x10, because i dont know how mine was unlocked, by code or something else (patch or something, i really dont know), this could possibly make a difference in relocking......?

Download s1tool this will tell u the state of ur bootloader. (read op with it, I never used it)
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
What does the bootloader have to do with the sim-lock? I dont care if my bootloader is locked or unlocked, i just care about if i can still use my sim-card after an update to 2.3.3 or not, but maybe i misunderstood your reply, if so i'm sorry^^
I really need to be sure that it wont (sim-)relock after the update, so is there someone who can tell me for sure why it wont relock or why it will relock?
OK i now received a reply of the service center of sony ericcson, they also told me that the sim-lock would be there again after an update, they told me to bring the phone to the shop again and let them do the update, but thats not possible according to the guy in the shop.
OK, i finally did the update and it remained unlocked......NIIIICE

Ok if u flash ur fone to 2.3 ur fone will accept any card, mine was locked to vodafone, flashed it originally so i could get 2.3 from 2,1 and i have reinstalled the stock software from sony and there where no vodafone items on use the flash tool to do this instead of getting someone to sim unlock, generic android is best way (Not held responsible if device is damaged in anyway)

Hey everyone,
Was just wondering if Australia has got this update yet?
Today I thought I might check if it has came yet so I opened up SEUS and checked for updates...
I box did come up and said 2.1 update is here blah blah blah, do you want to install it?
I thought it might brick my phone if I try update it on top of my Rooted x10 so I did i clean factory reset and tried updating it through SEUS again but it doesnt come up anymore?
My phone keeps saying my software is up to date and so does PC Companion and SEUS. ( Phone firmware is still on 1.6 on phone)
I uninstalled SEUS and tried again but same outcome...
Does anyone know why it wont show up when my phone isnt rooted and does when rooted?
Is it even out in Australia yet?
Answers would be very appreciated,
Thank you, Chad.
It shouldnt brick, you need to have your phone rooted, and then to change your region code, Global Generic code works fine.
It shows up with an update for me, but it doesnt actually start downloading :/
How do you change your Region code?
Is there a link you can give me mate, or some information?
yea mate, just look at the first post of this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824711
you could also use as an alternative the global generic code instead of the norwegian code thats put in that thread which is 1232-9897
It appears someone here in Aus has already received the update.
Either that or they aren't the brightest and flashed their X10 and still believe their device is somehow evident of an Optus release...

If you're referring to the network settings which the phone lists as available, the only operators listed are Optus and Virgin.
Other than that I haven't noticed any other operator specific logos/settings.
Hi everyone,
I'm in canada and own an x10 with rogers.
Last week, I loaded the global fw on it and rooted it. So far everything works great.
Reading up on other posts, it seems like some ppl who updated prematurely regardless of their regions are planning and coming up with ways to update according to their regions once the official updates roll out.
The question I have is, why? My x10 works fine although it's not x10a anymore. So is it necessary to switch?
Hi man, I just finished to re-flash my X10a with the new Brazilian FW (X10a 2.1) i choose to match Phone Version(X10a) with FW Version(X10a)....reflash is so easy why not?
Btw with GlobalFW my bluetooth dosent work with the laptop (1.6 do) but now with the correct FW works great again (placebo effect? idont kown)
maybe beacuse people want to keep their warranty...

Hi can you post your build.prop? I'm trying to put my 2.1 back to Brazil but I must have missed something, cos PC Companion can't download the file. I might have made a mistake with the version numbers...
Rogers will release 2.1 tomorrow.
Or at least this is the rumor.

It's very unlikely, but, some users also like/want their carrier/region specific bundled applications.
And, like, yeah, warranty.
Hi, I've seen so many threads now on this that I'm kind of confused. Can anyone tell me exactly what I need to do to update to 2.1? My phone is a X10a 1.6 on Rogers network in Canada.
Apparently rogers is releasing 2.1 tomorrow so unless u want to root just wait until Friday
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
Where did you get that info?
Waiting is the easiest thing. We're potentially so close to the update, you'd have to have a major issue to update with 'unsupported by Rogers' firmware at this point...IMO.
I suppose your right, if the update is in fact tomorrow then there really isn't a point in me doin anything but waiting. I just thought it would take rogers awhile to send out the update, Canada never usually gets anything else the world gets very quickly.

It's really hard to resist I know...up to you. There are tons of threads on it...no one that's done it seems to regret the decision but for me I have nothing wrong with my phone now...so i can wait
I don't believe that it will come out on Friday. I only hope. I have decided that I will do the root explorer method and change the code to Brazil generic unbranded x10a then do the update through pc companion if it does not come out byssunday. Very easy and simple method.
hi i need little clarification
so to flash 2.1 on your phone you need to root your phone first??

To flash to another country's verions of 2.1 yes, you'd need to root it first, debrand it second and then flash the update.
To install the update from Rogers you wouldn't need to do any of that.
Well you can root your phone with one click root or what ever the bleep its called and then install root explorer from the market or 4 shared and then open system folder then edit default.prop file and edit the country codes. There is another thread on that.
Then do update through pc companion (this is the same software that you will do update with once Rogers releases the update) all you are doing by editing the country code with root explorer is tricking pc companion into thinking you have a debranded Brazilian phone. After you do update it will not be rooted anymore cause the update wipes your phone clean.

WRONG. You don't need to be unlocked OR rooted OR debranded.
Once you put the phone into flash mode, you can flash any signed (official Sony) ROM, including the Global & Nordic generic ROMs (v2.1).
The bootloader hasn't been cracked so there are no custom ROMs (hence no 2.2) but official ROMs from around the world can still be used.
I flash my Rogers X10a a few hours after Nordic was released and a 2nd X10a once global came out. The only issue is that the Rogers APN information has to be entered in manually for 3G/3.5G/HSPA data.
Or you can do a flash but many ppl are scared to go that route as it requires a bit more effort.
My bad. I didn't key into flash part. Listen to the guy with two phones!
i have a galaxy ace Unlocked (that's what i think) my phone has The myth advance
the screenshot shows that i have it unlocked but when i put another sim card from other company it asks me to ENTER NETWORK LOCK CONTROL my phone was from telcel(mexico) the new SIM its from T-mobile (USA)
Did you buy it straight from telcel?, if its that the case, then its not unlocked.

Hello all i'm new here and have a problem.
I have a Sgs2 I9100P on Orange (uk) and i took it to a shop to unlock.
When i got home and turned the phone on it said I9100 where as before it used to say I9100P. Also the OS was now back to gingerbread but i had upgraded to ICS before i took it to be unlocked. So i thought ok ill upgrade back to ICS through kies like i did before. When i tried to upgrade kies just says it cant do anything to the phone. Its like it doesnt recognise the firmware.
The guy at the shop seemed to having difficulty unlocking the phone and he did have to flash it. He did manage to unlock it but i think he has put the wrong firmware on the phone.
I have managed to find a stock ICS orange network firmware for the I9100P and was thinking to flash that firmware with Odin. I have never flashed my phone but have read some tutorials and it seems straight forward.
So basically do you experts think it would work and would the phone still be unlocked?
If you need more information i should be able to provide. Thank you in advance for any advise anyone can give.
Yes flash orange bvlp6 for gt-i9100p though odin and you will be fine and the phone should still be sim unlocked .l unlocked my phone on GB and now updated to ics and still unlocked dude
