It seems that CM7 does not have vz backup assistant. When I change to this rom I loose about 130 contacts. Some are from facebook etc....
I installed facebook for droid and got most of those back but im lacking most of my important contacts.
I flashed back to 2.3.4 because of this.. do you recomend a good 3rd party contact back upapp that will back all my contacts up.... one that will work in cm7?
If i can get hese back uped I will flash bck over to CM7 and then pull the contacts that way.
Also, looking for an app that does the same thing as motorolo widget quick contact.

i got same problem
Google disabled Facebook integration in their stock messaging app. This is working as intended. Use Go SMS Pro if you want Facebook integration back.
If you want to stay with the regular mess app best thing to do is flash fresh sbf go in set up your facebook account under accounts and also let your gmail sync let it fully finish then do the whole root process i finally got it down cause thats one thing that drove me crazy. But im back using go sms cause its alot better i think
Hey guys, I'm running bamf 1.7 themed on my wife's phone and all her crap is in vzw backup assistant but I'm unable to get it to work. I found a zip of backup assistant in one of the rom threads but when I run it in either rom manager or straight from clockwork it doesn't come up in my application tray. I just want to get her contacts back... Does anyone have any ideas on how to best do so? Thanks!
if you can't find a solution just go into her vzw account on the website, highlight messages and select contacts and the backup asst comes on ..
Nice. Thanks for the reply. I actually registered her and logged her in then exported the contacts to csv then imported them into her google acct. I think she's good to go!
no problem, how did you export her contacts ? im trying to do the same .. im done with vzw backup asst
nvm i found it
You guys have gmail right? Just keep your contacts synced to that.

Yeah, long story short:
My wife's phone has been FC'ing a lot of stuff lately and she got tired of it. She told me that I could root her phone, so I did so, put BAMF 1.7 with the Android Cutie theme on it and went to replace all her shiz.
Well, turns out she had not really updated/cleaned her Google Contacts, and so when I redid her phone, her Google contacts came up, but none of her added in phone #s.
Well, Registered her online with Vzw and then exported her contacts to a csv then imported them into Google and she should be good for the hereafter.
She really likes the Rom, too, which is nice.
So I just flashed CM7 to my phone. It's kinda awesome. Responsive as all get out, practically zero lag ever, all that good stuff. The only thing I'm having issues with is how the contacts app isn't as flexible with joining facebook contacts with Google contacts as the stock contacts app was, seeing as how a lot of my contacts are listed in one as their real name and the other as a nickname. Is it possible to have the stock contacts app instead of the AOSP one?
Hi fellas, hopefully after some advice to the issue I have which is described below.
I just updated to wolfs v6 custom rom and everything seemed fairly smooth (hit a few road bumps but worked it lol) until I got to the stage of restoring my contacts from My Backup Root.
The issue in a nutshell is the default dialler app under Phone or even the default Contacts app shows that there are no contacts at all but if i go to add a contact after entering a number they come up on the Contacts Selection screen. They also come up in a 3rd party dialler app i downloaded TouchPal Dialer
Even when I try to add a new contact in the phone, the contacts list still shows No Contacts
ps. I have already checked the filter options in the contact list and they are all ticked
Hoping someone has some advice or a link to a fix or something
I just finished installing a new, custom, ROM (Cognition X2 Beta 4). Everything is running well and there is no lag I know of.
Only one problem: All my contacts are gone.
I thought Google backed them up (with Google Sync). Apparently not! Even though my picture albums, gmail, and calendar; my contacts are still the same default AT&T contacts!
Does anybody know I can PLEASE get my old contacts back? I MUST have them (I JUST got everyone manually saved on my new phone from my old iPhone 4 - and restored the iPhone. F U 0 K!)
Yes, I did backup the "stock" rooted ROM. Is it possible to extract the contacts from it - without restoring back to it?
I'm desperate.

Go into your gmail on pc Web Browser and look on left side you will see contacts look to see if your phone contacts are there. If not then back up your current system in cwm then restore the stock one. Sync contacts with google let it finish then restore cognition backup in cwm. Sucks but easiest way to get them back.
Google only syncs the contacts that is in GMail contacts. Your phone supports many different contact providers. You can have Gmail contacts, exchange server contacts, facebook contacts and Phone contacts. The default is phone contact which syncs with no one. If you only save your contacts in Phone contact, you will never get that synced to the cloud. So, next time when when you create a new contact, pay attention to the where the contact is going and make sure it is Gmail contacts.
How did you back up your stock ROM? With titanium backup? If so restore your contacts with it. When you make a gmail account, make sure you go in your contacts app press menu/more/settings/save new contacts to/your google account or always ask and not to your phone so it can auto sync.
If you ever came from an iPhone or any other phone and transferred your contacts to Android. Go in your contacts app cause it's usually not stored in the google account to sync but rather the phone. Press menu/import & export/export to sd card....you will have a vcf file on your storage card. Go on gmail thru the computer. On your left pan you should see contacts. With your phone plugged into your computer, pull the vcf file or just upload it directly from your phone to your gmail using a file explorer on your phone like Astro. Back to your gmail on the computer...press contacts and find the button more in the center. Press import from there and merge and find duplicates if you need to.
