Hi guys I have two questions if you would like to help please..
1) using kies, in my country (uk) I bought the phone on 2.3.4 I know 2.3.6 is available on my network(orange) and it says I have the lastest firmware, why?
2) if I can update manually using Odin, will my network specific apps(orange signal boost, orange Wednesdays etc) get removed?
Thanks for reading, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Use odin it is far better than kies updater

I have a new (unlocked) galaxy ace with the same problem. Kies just says "this version of the device cannot be updated".
But I thought the GB update was out in Europe already??
Hi guys.
When flashing firmware through odin, sometimes there are 3 files to be flashed, and in certain cases only one (pda). Why is that?? I flashed 2.3.4 android using odin with only one .tar file, but now for 2.3.5 there are three files. I live in austria, and I flashed the "official" austrian version. Whats the difference between those versions? I am on austrian tmobile, and i wouldnt like to loose the network settings? Can someone clear this mystery for me, since I am really confused?
Thank you guys in advance!!

hi,
when you have one file, it means it has all been packaged into one and you flash it under the PDA section of odin,
when you have the 3 seperate files you put them into their individual sections in odin.
- Don't select Re-Partition!
hope this helps
Thank you for your reply!
It is definately helping. But, what does it mean the firmware that i flashed is for austria? They released 2.3.4 for many countries... Why does it matter? Whats the difference between this one and firmwares for other countries?

Thanks. Do u maybe know the answer to my previous question?

Official Austrian version is Android 2.3.4 and the XXKI3 for Poland is Android 2.3.5.
So what will happen if I flash the polish version? I am talking about firmwares in general, even the 2.3.4... Why did they separate it that way? Isnt it pretty much the same for all the countries?

dude,VERY IMPORTANT WARNING what "intratech" has given you.Do not select re-partition unless you are using a pit file. You are not so DO NOT tick this box or you will brick your phone.
Ya i figured that from all those different flashing guides... Thanks though... Do u maybe have an answer to my question about android version for different countries? Would it make any difference if I installed the polish 2.3.5 version on my austrian galaxy s2?

So, is flashing the polish version going to mess up my internet over network? Is it going to delete my network settings?

So can I just flash the android version (PDA), and the baseband (Phone), without flashing the CSC?

Yes if you want just flash firmware without CSC or change CSC after .
Or look in that thread for a multi csc or Frankenstein rom to fit .

thanks man I still don't understand what csc means but it's okay... I'll just wait for the official version to come out

Hi..i have a Three UK network phone which i have unlocked using method described on xda...however I'd like to debrand it by installing another ROM and unroot...will i lose the unlock in this process?
Also, if i downloaded ROM from samfirmware, how can i apply using odin as there are a few files included? I'm not very technical when it comes to various intricacies of Android ROMs!
As always thanks for your help in advance...

You can flash any firmware you like, and later a csc to match UK or just enter the APN settings manually. XX UK or XE/XW European etc, but as I said, doesn't really matter. For best data speed, connection etc you need to then flash a modem that best suits your carrier. Best to just try.
For the latest modems, some flashable via Odin and in CWM recovery:

Hi,
I Bought GT-i9300 unlocked international version in US yesterday. It was on LG2 firmware version, which I updated to LG8, but my localised search is not working anymore.
I am just getting web based results, no results from local application and contact. I read that the latest which is LG8, should fix this issue.
Could it be because I set the region to US, in software update settings. If it is the case, What should I set it to? Shall I set it to UK?
Secondlly I dont know how can I change the software update settings, shall I do factory reset or is there any other way of doing it?
Please help!!
Flash any firmware with a BTU product code using Odin.
The phone should then identify itself and update as a BTU model.

hi all,
I am buying a Galaxy S2 as a present for my OH on O2 UK. She is on giffgaff. I know that I do not need to unlock it as the SIM should work without a problem.
However I want to flash the firmware to remove the O2 branding (splash screen, animations, etc) + the bloatware.
I have read this thread [GUIDE] Debrand & Rebrand back to O2 for Samsung Galaxy S2 on how to use Odin. However I cannot find the firmware to download, even using the these links within the thread.
Even sammobile website is a bit confusing on which firmware to download for a handset bought on O2
Therefore my question is: Where can I find a plain Samsung SIM free firmware to download???? Is it different for every carrier???
Sorry for the noob questions but I couldn't figure it out yet.
Help is much appreciated.

Just download latest unbranded stock ROM for UK. Should be XWLPT.
Odoslané z GT-I9100 cez Tapatalk 2
Simlock is stored in nv_data.bin in efs folder -> flashing other FW won't make your phone unlocked. You need NCK code.

Thanks mate, found on sammobile....I should have looked for United Kingdon/Ireland XEU....You are right the lastest is XWLPT 4.0.4 but lots of people complaining about battery issues....might falsh to XWLP7 4.0.3 when I receive the device.
Cheers
O2 phones are unlocked by default.

Even PAYG????
WHy do customers normally fill an online form to ask for unlock code?
Anyhow my OH is on giffgaff (pigback O2), so the handset shouldn't be an issue, even if it is locked. Just want to flash it to remove bloatware and splash/animation
May go 4.0.3 XWLP7 firmware
As far as I know.
And both my phones were on unbranded lp7.
