Do a clean wipe on everything ie factory reset/wipe cache/wipe dalvik/wipe everything than flash the ron. In your case cm7 than go to advanced in clockworkmod select reboot recovery than flash gapps then after all is done boot into recovery and flash Franco's kernel. I recommend wiping everything besides factory reset than reboot. Look at sweetnsours signature he uses 6.6.1 with the .35 family tree kernel. Anymore questions just PM me

Thanks now i am not confuse!!
I am preparing to flash mik's 6.6.1 (CM7.1-RC1) - GB 2.3.5 from Froyo.
Please clarify whether it is necessary/must to format the SD card in Clockworkmod Recovery according with the steps stated in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038338&page=6, i.e.:
Boot into clockwork recovery.
go to backup and restore -create a backup of your current rom (Note:If already backup has been done then avoid this step, backup created using amonra or thunderg wont support restoring using clockwork)
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
mount and storage-format system
go to mount and storage-format sd card
advanced-partition sd card-choose 512 mb (preferable)or 1024 mb (it automatically creates ext 4 partition, class 6/4 is preferred)
mount and storage-mount usb storage (make sure usb debugging is enabled)
copy the rom zip file to the root of your sd card
unmount
install zip from sd card-choose the rom zip and install
flashing takes 3-5 min
reboot
Please note that I had already re-arrange my SD-card partition (1GB is assigned for EXT4, and the rest is FAT32) by MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. As far as I understand wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, and wipe dalvik cache have already deleted everything in the phone and SD-card (even whatever stores in FAT32 partition.
Many thanks!!!

dalvik cache question

i have read that wiping dalvik cache will clear some of your internal memory so my question is can i wipe dalvik cache via cwm or need wipe only when u flash roms?
Yes, you can use this option in cwm (you can find it in advanced). Only what must you remember, when you do wipe dalvik cache the phone will first run need more time to boot.

If ur hungry for more internal memory, install a2sd script, install a2sdgui & move dalvik cache to sd card. U wil get around 150 mb free internal memory.

Do moving dalvik cache on external sd card safe?
If the dalvik cache is on external sd card, do phone will run as usual when sd card is unmounted?

If you move the dalvik cache to the sdcard and unmount and boot, then the dalvik cache will rebuild in the phone memory when you boot, so boot time will be longer(the first time)

cm9 SGA bootloop with d2sd

Hi,
I am using CM9 beta 8 by maclaw and team with a 32gb ext card formatted as follows using CWM 5
4gb sd-ext
1gb swap.
I also am using the d2sd script by ungaze.
I have about 500mb worth of files in sd-ext.
Sometimes when my phone is on for too long or when i open and close too many apps it will reboot randomly, and if i decide to turn it off, wipe cache and dalvik, it will just boot to a black screen and even after 2 hours its not booting..
Can anyone help me?
EDIT:i found out that the cam wipe dalvik removes the link to the dalvik as well, so when the kernel boots it loads the dalvik from the preset location in the NAND, and when it cannot find it, (due to the init.rc not running to link it, init.rc loads AFTER this process), it will not boot.
I had to do a nandroid restore and used adb to manually cd into the dalvik-cache and rm * then it finally booted.
But sometimes even after clearing the dalvik, the phone will reboot randomly into the CM screen and back again.
Any ideas?

[Q] Cyanogenmod 7 animation looping after Dalvik cache wipe

Hello,
I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 on an HTC Desire device, with S2E extending the internal storage to the SD card.
As I was facing the "Error 492" in Google Play, I saw a good solution was to wipe the Dalvik cache. So did I.
But now, after the usual HTC logo, I get the Cyanogen animation looping (the round is turning for a few seconds, then the screen becomes black and the animation restarts).
I tried to remove the battery and try again, no way. Also tried to mount sd-ext from the recovery, still the same.
Any tip ?
Jonatan
