Which kernal is good for CM7 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been playing games on cm7 but it gets really to hot and the battery backup is also not that good. So guys which kernal can be good for CM7? ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium

Depends on the game, but its normal to get warm/hot when playing for some time. All kernels are pretty good, so you have to just try them and see which is best for you. Have you tried downclocking the speed to 1000MHz?

nope i havent ..!

do you really need to ask what kernel is best for cm7...siyah kernel of course. Gokhanmoral as stated on his thread his kernel is compatible so why not use that

hmm. i also think Gokhanormal kernel (Syah Kernel http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/ ) or Speedmods Kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182498) might be good for u.

SpeedMod doesn't work on any AOSP ROM. So it won't work on CM7.

Thanks a lot for this times. Very thorough work.
Would you suggest starting on High Leakage first?

Try all three. See which one works best with your phone.
Though, High leakage is probably the safest to start, but still could be unadapted to your device.
Works with mtd roms?

Awesome thanks. I'll flash now. Besides overclocking to 1.7 ghz (something I will not do) what advantages does this kernel offer over nemisis2all's OTB kernel?
First off lemme say the color change at low backlight setting is BEAUITUFL.

Yes now I see that! The color is great.
My gosh this kernel is absolutely brilliant. My phone is flying and has SO MUCH memory.
I highly recommend running the Kernel Cleaner before flashing.
Downloaded all three and testing each one. I thought my phone was smooth before, this takes it to another level. I like the color screen change in the Voodoo Control App. From what I can tell so far, this kernel is phenomenal.
If the phone froze immediately when I set the max CPU to 1400 on LL, it's probably not right for me, right?

I'd say medium could very well be the best performing version for your device

Awsome glitch. You are fantastic. I love the boot screen that you've integrated into this kernel as well as the blue CWM.
Bravo to you.
This looks great, I will be flashing it soon. Thanks!
Is this for bml or mtd cm7?

This thing absolutely flies!!!!!! Amazing. Props

careful with trying too low voltage because we don't have the three button cwm so if you can't even boot, you are screwed and have to flash CM7 again.

It's for MTD.
Yes guys. Please try High Leakage first. Most of us will have to use that as our primary kernel so don't get too greedy.
Can't download from xda app. The links appear to be inside quoted text and therefore are not followable
Also, how is audio volume with this kernel? I'm curious if it will do anything to help the known audio issues with cm7..

Best kernel

I'm currently using lite'ning rom 6.1 with ninphetamine 2.1.3 kernel. the battery is better, but still drains quite a bit. I've heard people said speedmod hve better battery, while some said ninphetamine does. I'm confused ! Can anyone give me a proper answer ?

actually it depends of your own use of the device...
the best answer i thing it´s: test it and judge by your self..
both kernels are really great..
i´m using ninphetamine because speedmod still hasn´t BLN support and the battery drain its good...
but some times i spend it in two hours playing asphalt 6 lol
EDIT: also u can use SET CPU to changue the cpu freq, the user profile (conservative for example) and undervolt your device for better battery usage..
If I remember correctly, only ninphetamine support overlock rite ?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
The answer is that their is not a proper answer .You have to try them all .
Kernel is not the answer to battery drain thats user apps .
Install one kernel test it for a week and so on is the only way otherwise its just rumour and poor testing .

IMO Chainfire kernel is the best, because it's SIMPLE.

What is the best kernel for vibrant ؟؟؟؟؟

Please help in the best Kernl
For your Samsung Vibrant with the knowledge that I used MIUI-4
Esha and I want to knock the installation Kernel
Since it is your 1st post I won't delete, post Questions in Q&A... last warning... oka1 moderator
For miui thats based on cm7, i think its between glitch and streamline
sent from the xda app on my android smartphone.
Look at NOOB_IN_N33D's miui guide. It has all the kernels for miui in it and brief descriptions. Its stickied in Q&A.
i'm back on Axura and couldn't be happier
I used glitch over streamline so I could undervolt

hahaha you consider a preview kernel, with limited features/functionality and some bugs, to be the best kernel available to the vibrant?? or is it only the best because that's what you have?
i couldnt even mount my sd to my computer on that kernel.
im not trashing the dev by any means, thats why he called it a "preview kernel". but to come onto a thread and call it the best available is ignorant, and can be very misleading to inexperienced users.
Honestly , you should try it, It work so good, Speed is great! , No lag, Battery life is awsome., the only problem, the games open but for some reason close,/

So far battery life is ok for me, less than stock passion but thats expected for a preview. I am finding Live OC incredible, set clock speeds on the fly.
But overall Topshelf is right, its a PREVIEW, with more features and fixes to come, so its not best kernel as of right now, but imo soon

[Q] Battery Draining

How to extended the battery life time and minimize it's draining during your daily usage of the SGS2 ?
Also is. Over clocking. Increases the battery draining ?
To extend your battery life, stop using your phone and/or decrease the screen brightness when using it.
Overclocking will probably increase the battery drain if your phone is using the overclocked frequencies.
To increase your battery life turn your phone off every time you are not using it, turn it on when you want to use it, that will get you good battery life.
Honestly search this forum there are a handful of threads that give guides and tutorials on how to maintain battery life not that difficult to search my friend.

Use it as a paperweight and that should be good enough..Or just keep having the charger in it while you are at home
anyway lame jokes aside. get yourself a decent kernel. in your case speedmod. set the governor of your choice and let the magic begin......seriously for you that kernel should be fine. just do not get to excited when the magic begins and you start kissing your phone though just do not tell us here
Hope that helps mate

Speedmod is fine on default. No need to change governor unless you want to try conservative but I recommend to leave speedmod as is.

ohh u mean scaling of the cpu
oh yeh i never change that :L
its on ondemand now on setcpu
To be honest you don't need to use any of those type of application you are better off just removing them and leaving the kernel on complete stock.

Governors are for scaling cpu as you just said. As Nikz said if you are using speedmod no point using any cpu apps as the kernel does all the work for you

Ahh tried an earlier build and was fine but one thing I don't like about CM is the camera quality, I know it's not a digital camera but a TW rom produces better pics.

Codeworkx 3.0.25 Kernel Vs Siyah

Was just basically wondering, as of now, which one seems to be the best?
Anyone tried both?
Siayh is an optimized version of Samsung source code. Codeworkxx version is built from scratch by xploidwild and the team.
