One good source is Google. Another one might be the search function of the whole xda board.
But to start you better have a look at the Android development forum on xda. Therr are some threads about Rom building for beginners.
One question: is it really faster and easier to make a thread than google something or use the search function?

These kinda questions will be better served by Google, so search for it with there and you will get loads of guides and tutorial . You can even search xda for the same

Best bet is to check google still (it has tutorials and/or how to begin) or possibly contacting some devs who MIGHT be willing to help. Most devs dont even really check out Q/A section.

I'm right there with ya........searching everywhere for a clear tutorial and no success.
Hello, are you guys looking in the other xda forums or only the legend section, in the android sections there is heaps of guides tutorials and more regarding development I don't have any links for them, but they are there.
The xda search system is very very bad, I tried searching for one of my own threads using exact wording I used in the title without success.

Battery friendly rom (cyanogenmod?)

Currently, I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 (10.1-20130226-NIGHTLY-i9100) rom installed in my phone. I would like to know is there any way to improve cyanogenmod in my phone in order to make it more battery friendly? If not, than maybe you can recommend some other rom, which would be 4.2 and more battery friendly?
Thanks.

Sorry, but I don't agree with the fact that you can't ask for other people to share their opinion on what is greatest rom for specific problem solving. I would love to install all available to roms on my phone and test them by myself, yet I have tons job and no time, that is the reason why I ask for xda-developers users to share their experience. Is it really that much to ask?
Look, everyone's idea of a 'best' ROM is different, and on a website like xda there will be many different views. I don't set these rules for no best ROM threads, that comes from the moderators. I just do my bit to prevent the lazy people like yourself from clogging up the forum and being spoonfed.

You have no right to call me lazy.
Anyway, I will be a bigger man and step out of this. Clearly, some people here have absolutely nothing better to do then to watch if someone "spammed" forum with thread in which a question about roms is being asked...
On a more productive note, try one of the updated 4.2.2's and play with various power and connection settings to see how you can get the power to last.

Best rom to date?

Hi everybody!
Well I'm using Miui and to be honest I'm getting tired of it. So I'm looking for a new ROM.
I know the question is really hard to answer with one option is but anyway maybe a list would be fine.
I'm looking for something stable with a good battery life. Appealing to the eye of course and most of the Google apps and Samsung native functionalities.
Btw is there any news on samsung's updates?
Thanks in advance.

All roms are in the i9300 android development or Original android development forums. There is also an index thread of all roms.
There is no "best" rom. whjat's good for me is not necessarily good for you. This means all best rom threads fall into pointless arguments about whose opinion is more fact than anothers and as such, these threads are discouraged.
Simple answer is, please try all the roms and find your favourite.
Closed as its a best ROM thread.
