Hi everybody!
Well I'm using Miui and to be honest I'm getting tired of it. So I'm looking for a new ROM.
I know the question is really hard to answer with one option is but anyway maybe a list would be fine.
I'm looking for something stable with a good battery life. Appealing to the eye of course and most of the Google apps and Samsung native functionalities.
Btw is there any news on samsung's updates?
Thanks in advance.

What's the best way to update a ROM like MIUI from my phone? Right now i get on the XDA app, navigate to the ROM thread and click on the link to download; then I open it via ROM manager.
Anyone got a better way? I have a feeling i'll need to do this quite often with the MIUI ROM being constantly updated and all. I saw the developers took the OTA updates out so... i dunno
Thanks!
I can't answer but the question and answer forum is your best bet.
Now that I read it that or general.

MIUI is updated within the Rom Manager app. Go into Rom Manager>Download Rom> and MIUI is in there. Simply download and flash it like normal.
Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but shouldn't this be basic knowledge to someone with enough activity to post in the dev section? For the same reason, shouldn't it be obvious that posting this in the dev section is like violating the first rule of Fight Club??? There are MULTIPLE stickies with this info that people spent good time and effort on putting together for the community. You could at least read those before posting without searching. I'd recommended re-reading the site rules before anything else though...

Hi folks,
I am interested in starting freelance android application development. I have a year of experience in developing android applications and background services. It was only recently that i decided, I needed to make some money using this skill, but unfortunately I'm from India and hence i cant publish paid apps to the market. Also, you guys are the best source of ideas for apps. So start demanding your ideas here and i could get down to realizing the best ones. I don't plan to charge for the applications, but donations would be welcome. Of course, that would come into the picture only once i have the apps ready for you.
Looking forward to your demands.
Regards,
manrock

Sorry I'll keep that in mind
There's an entire huge thread full of app ideas. It's not been active lately that I know of, but I'm sure some of the ideas are still good.
If you don't get much response here, see if you can find the thread. If I can find it I'll post it here for you.
For more recognition, I'd change the title of your thread to show that you're looking for app requests. More people with an idea for an app will open this thread with a better suited title.

It's a silly idea... Why don't create a manual/guide for android phones?? I explain: an app with subcategories and sections for model of phone With XDA guides (how to root, change bootanimation, etc) periodically updated.
Just an idea

Did a bit of a search, couldn't find anything like this for the Samsung Galaxy S3... question is simple - what is your favourite ROM for the Galaxy S3, and why?
Until some of the recent Jelly Bean ROMs from Samsung have leaked, my favourite has been Cyanogenmod 10 nightlies. As much as I love the Google Experience with AOSP, I can't deny that Samsung have done a freaking good job on their Jelly Bean ROMs. I'm currently using the latest Omega v22 ROM and it's amazing. Some of the features in it are really breathtaking, and they have really make a good effort to make it easy to use for the end user, which doesn't help me, but it's a step in the right direction.
So what is your favorite ROM right now and why?

Sorry about that, didn't realise that it's against forum rules? Care to link where it says that? I've seen them in different device threads...

Look through the forum and see all the locked best ROM threads.
They bring out fanboys and can end up as flame wars.
I don't know where it says it in the rules, I just know that they aren't allowed here.

Closed, try them for yourself and make up your own mind.
If you had searched you would have noticed many closed threads like this.
Currently, I have Cyanogenmod 10.1 (10.1-20130226-NIGHTLY-i9100) rom installed in my phone. I would like to know is there any way to improve cyanogenmod in my phone in order to make it more battery friendly? If not, than maybe you can recommend some other rom, which would be 4.2 and more battery friendly?
Thanks.

Sorry, but I don't agree with the fact that you can't ask for other people to share their opinion on what is greatest rom for specific problem solving. I would love to install all available to roms on my phone and test them by myself, yet I have tons job and no time, that is the reason why I ask for xda-developers users to share their experience. Is it really that much to ask?
Look, everyone's idea of a 'best' ROM is different, and on a website like xda there will be many different views. I don't set these rules for no best ROM threads, that comes from the moderators. I just do my bit to prevent the lazy people like yourself from clogging up the forum and being spoonfed.

You have no right to call me lazy.
Anyway, I will be a bigger man and step out of this. Clearly, some people here have absolutely nothing better to do then to watch if someone "spammed" forum with thread in which a question about roms is being asked...
On a more productive note, try one of the updated 4.2.2's and play with various power and connection settings to see how you can get the power to last.

Hello xda developers.
I'm Ben, I'm new to these forums and I've not modded a phone for a few years now, however I've just bought a Galaxy s3 and I would like to install a custom ROM. Would you folks be so kind as to offer me a suggestion or two based on some loose criteria?
What I am looking for is a light rom with all/most of the bloatware gone but with maybe a few extra visuals and themes, you know...some good old eye candy. I'm after that balance between the two I suppose. Can anyone point me in the direction of an installation guide also?
I do realise I can find this info for myself but I'm lazy, plus I thought I'd say my hello's and ask a question or two instead hehe
Many thanks in advance
Hey,
All needed info can be found on FAQ thread and stickies.
And there is no recommended/best Rom- everyone has different taste depending on their needs. You can find what you need in 'android development'
PS- welcome, and be prepared for thread closing in 3..2..1...
