just enter fastboot mode (by keeping pressed volume up button attach to PC and flash one of the kernels.. if it flashes fine then you have recovery installed.. then u can flash 4pda Rom
Thanks jjdoctor..
Could you please elaborate on that? I spent the last hour trying to find a solution, but no avail..
A link to the solution would suffice..
I keep connecting my phone in fastboot mode as you said, while using Flashtool 0.6.7.0, but it disconnects after a few seconds..
Well, i'll just tell you what i'm doing..
I downloaded the .42 firmware CE type... i have the .ftf file in the firmwares directory..
I run the Flashtool..
Hold down the volume down button and the device is shown in the window..
"Device connected in flash mode"
The green light is on..
After a few seconds, it automatically gets disconnected.. and i remove the battery again an reinsert it.. to connect the phone via usb again...
Thats what i'm doin since the past hour..
please shed some light on where i'm going wrong..
Thanks again in advance...
Ok so have you tried using a software called SEUS (Sony Ericsson update service)? It's simple to flash original fw back

That seems like a pretty good idea.. Let me try it..
Use s1tool hook phone up and press restore I've bricked my phone 5 times lol and that works for me

you are connected in flashboot mode, that's why the LED turned GREEN instead of BLUE
please connect in FASTBOOT mode by pressing the Vol Up button while connecting to the PC, the LED should turn BLUE

Hi guys. My device(St15i) wont boot at all. It was rooted and boot loader was unlocked as well. I used Cyanogenmod 7.1 for sometime and then flashed it with Stock rom after that. It was working absolutely fine. 2 days ago, I connected the phone to Wi-Fi and scanned for latest updates. It showed me that there is an update available(I guess it was for firmware as i did not had .62 on it). I knew it was rooted but still because of some teething i guess, i said yes to the upgrade. It downloaded the update and the phone restarted. It started with the unpacking screen and then turned off...Now whenever I try to turn it on, it doesn't boot. I can just see the green LED on the top(beside the power button) flash once every second when I hold the power button down. But it wont turn on at all...I tried flashing the device again with flashtool, but it doesnt work. I cant flash a new kernel because I cant connect it in flashmode or flashtool mode. Whenever I try connecting it and flashing any kernel, it says <waiting for device>. I have all the drivers installed but still cant get it to work. Can someone please help me with the problem....
if you have unlock bootloader then you shouldnt try fota update..now you have done that just go here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358

No,i cant enter either of them..my phone does not responds to anything..usb cable or charger..vol. up or vol. down or power..wish had never unlocked my bootloader because than i had never developed intrest in all these procedures..i admit, rooting and flashing custom roms, enjoying a vast range f applications for root was fun alltogether but a very costly one..i know i wont be able to get it replaced because i already voided my warranty by unlocking the f***ing bootloader..!!

But your charging light turns orange? That means you should be able to enter fastboot mode. Did you try removing the battery, leave it out of the phone for like a few minutes to be sure.
Then connect USB cable with volume up, without battery in the phone.
Let me know what you get then

Should i be messing with the test pointers to get this undone via hardware..or i should stick to software manipulations using diffrent combos..i hve removed the battery 10 minutes ago,i guess all the capacitor power will be gone by now..so what next should i do..??

First off calm down and think clearly. I hardbricked my S but revived it. First off the recovery should be related to the kernel. Put your battery in and hold volume up and power for ten seconds. Then let it chill for a few minutes. Then try and enter fastboot so you can flash a new kernel. I have NEVER EVER found a phone that couldnt be revived from brick and I have rooted and modded at least 15 different models and manufacturers. It can be done, you just need patience. Fastboot mode is the way to revive a device and once you get the proper kernel on you should be okay. Just keep trying to enter fastboot. Dont run your battery out all the way though, since sometimes you can get it to low the phone cant charge and the charge mode is related to kernel.
I do have same problem, please help me.

Post your own thread instead of necroing an old one will help. Also saying what happened before the phone died will also help.
Anyway, hold vol up + power for 20 seconds and see if you can get it to vibrate.
If so, after the 3rd vibrate, quickly hold vol down, then jam the USB cable in.
You are now in flashboot. Flash a stock ftf and you should be fine.

Saved my life!
Was stuck into SONY logo after "testing" each CWM function (like the wipe system, etc .. !)
Many thanks!
Xperia U bricked, tried many things but now it gets stuck at "SONY" logo
I am now downloading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974430 stock ROM. can you suggest which kernel I will have to use to flash the boot partition with. and any steps I have to follow before flashing the stock ROM using flashtool ?
Background:-
I rooted my phone then unlocked the bootloader the official way.
Installed CM9. worked fine
Then I wanted to back to stock ROM (for some xyz reason)
I got a vodafone image and recovered the phone by flashing it but touchscreen was not working.
I think I have messed up a lot and now I cant get the CM9 working also (touchscreen doesnt work)
Touchscreen not working, is it a software or hardware related ?
I still believe if its software related it can be fixed somehow.
Thanks.

Current State:when ever I press the power button the phone vibrates and LED blinks for some time then blank screen continue pressing the power the phone vibrate at intrevenls. Connect to PC only give flashmode connection, can't choose fast boot. Tried to re-flash the stock tft multiple times via PC and flashtool still stuck! no luck!
What I did: Was in stock ROM GB .42 unlocked the bootloader and (STUPID MISTAKE) the auto update of the phone updated it OTA downloaded the .62 package and began installing. The phone switched off and never turned on again till now!
What I had Mini Pro with unlocked bootloader(test-point method) in stock GB .42
Should I
1. Use the repair option of the SE PC suite?
2. Relock the bootloader(How?)
3. Throw it away?( It's not even a year old!)
4. Any other suggestions?
You can see here and you will find and unbricking file. Just use the file and ur phone might unbrick.
Press THANKS if I helped

I have a similar problem with my Xperia U. I only got to unlock the BL yesterday (the official way). Then I put in a boot.img from FXP CM10 ROM for... Xperia T using fastboot and it stopped responding entirely. I give, that wasn't particularly clever, but it's the first time I use FXP and the instructions did say I should use CM10 boot image and that's what I did as there is no Xperia U CM10 image.
I charged the phone for 2 hours from my PC using the original Sony cable and then overnight (for ~8 hours) using a charger from my aged Spica. Pressing and holding the Power button after charging produced no effect whatsoever. Not even a blink of a diode.
I removed the battery and replaced it after ~20 minutes. The Power button still does nothing.
Plugging in the charger lights up the red charge LED, but the screen is off.
Plugging the phone to the PC (original Sony cable, dual Windows Vista 32-bit/Debian Sqeeze 64-bit laptop) also only lights up the red charge LED, the screen is still off. Holding Vol+/Vol- buttons (or both) while plugging in the USB cable does nothing.
Because I can neither fastboot nor flashmode I couldn't use Flashtool or SUS.
I'm lost... What did I miss?
First there is no CM for U, and second you bricked device cause you flashed wrong kernel - its for another phone.
You might flash U kernel from CM9.
Now try charging the phone for hours, then try enter flashmode to flash stock ROM, or fastboot mode to flash proper kernel.

FXP for U is a modified CM9, right? That's what I was talking about.
I'm very well aware that's a wrong kernel I just didn't realise that until it was too late because of the cryptic device coding. I use Linux for 10 years now and it's not my first Android device so I have an idea how this things work.
I already did that. Is there anything else I might try or should I just repeat the charging process ad infinitum?
Once I too flashed a wrong kernel

All u need is to get it working again

Hi!! I need help with my Xperia U. I'm new to XDA, therefore I don't know if I'm in right place to ask this question.
It was working yesterday, but when I tried to install Rom(??), it won't boot anymore.
1. I rooted my XU.
2. I installed CWM with an app.
3. I tried to install stock Jelly Bean recovery from XDA. (I backed up. But now, my XU doesn't show up anything, so I cannot restore it.)
4. Completed installing file from zip.(In CWM.) I don't know I did this in right way, but I pressed the botton that says ''Install zips from SD card." I'm not sure if I need to flash something.
What I installed is this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/u-development/rom-stock-6-2-0-400-xperia-version-3-1-t2253486
5. I forgot to wipe data and cache...
6. It started rebooting.
But the screen won't show up. I don't know what happened..
I changed boot animation in the past, and deleted old one before, so is it my failed..??
It's not booting up anymore, and when I pressed power botton, the green light shows up on the left corner o LED bar.
I also tried to press power botton and volume up, a blue light shows up and it goes away in 10 sec.
Nothing shows up. Not SONY Logo either...
In addition, when I connect to computer, the computer doesn't read.
If I press volume up and put usb cable, the computer reads it, but I don't know what to do.
I cannot use flash tool because I cannot install Xperia P U Sola driver. It is keep saying ''Install failed". can some one know how to install drivers?
I need somebody to help me as fast as you can. I didn't unlock bootloader I think. But I rooted it with one-click method.
PS sorry for my bad English... I hope somebody can fix my Xperia U.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Can you give me the link of stock ICS rom?(Please know that I don't think I didn't unlock bootloader, but I rooted) I see many sites that have ftf, but I'm not sure which one I should download. I don't want to download any bad files to my computer and phone. Also, can you explain how to use Flashtool? I think I know, but I don't want to mess up again.
