Driver fail - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Any suggestions on how to install the mtp driver? It was installed before, but I updated kies and it uninstalled my drivers. All but that one were installed properly. Now I can't use kies. Any response is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

i had problems with mtp driver as well, but it was long ago, july 2011. uninstalling Kies and install again worked for me. i recall i was searching internet for MTP driver and found it, dont remember where though and i deleted the files after Kies worked. since then Kies upgraded many times but no issues.
In the case everything fails, use another computer, hope u dont have to connect to kies daily.

I only used it to back up my contacts and photos. I do not want to deal with making all my contacts again. I will try this. Thank you for the response. I will look more for the actual driver when I get time.

solution
Thought I would post this here in case anyone was having any trouble getting the Galaxy Player 4.0 (YP-G1) to connect to Kies using Windows (I'm on 7, 32bit). It was for a Samsung phone model but it works for the Player also.

Here are the instructions on connecting your Samsung Wave GT-S8500 phone to Kies.
1. On the Windows PC, close the Kies program
2. Disconnect phone from PC
3. On phone, select Samsung Kies under Settings > Wireless&Network > USB > Samsung Kies
4. On phone, go to apps > running > select 'end all applications'
5. Connect phone to PC (I am running Windows 7 64 Bit)
7. Windows will automatically install MTP driver and opens up its own window to manipulate the contents of the phone
8. Now start Kies --> it will now recognize the phone
Done!

[Q] Kies won't connect to phone

Hi Guys,
Just switched over from iPhone 3GS to S2 but am having slight teething problems.
I would like to connect to Kies so I may upload my contacts from outlook on to the S2 but the status is stuck on connecting with a circle spinning next to it on kies.
I uninstalled kies, reinstalled it. Running version 2.0.2.11071_128. Rebooted the pc many times and each time I open kies trying to connect the status is stuck on connecting.
I installed drivers thru kies but to no avail. The pc won't even recognise the phone as a usb storage device and doesn't list it under my computer.
All I get is a window popup which says mtp error ivc or something like that.
Help...
I had that exact same MTP problem with my S8500. Did everything I could do, but none worked. Finally it got solved after installing Win 7 x64/x86. I know that sounds crazy but all I know is that.
Regards.

You don't say what your PC is running.
maybe try a full windows update then re-install Kies ?
I have Win XPon my desktop and Win 7 on my laptop.
I've installed same version of Kies on both of my computers.
XP doesn't recognise MTP device, but Win7 does.
I think maybe it's driver problem. There's Windows Driver Kit on Microsoft's website. I didn't try it, already using Kies on Win7.
Who else have driver issues, maybe could try driver kit and feedback?!
I have the Win XP Pro and Win 7 Home Premium X64.
After I install the Kies, everything works fine.
You may try to uncheck USB Debugging under Settings -> Applications -> Development. I am not sure if it can help you. However, Kies cannot connect to my GS II when I checked USB Debugging.
If you want to import your contacts into your GS II, I recommend you should import them into your gmail. (I do believe that importing contacts into gmail is a better method for the Android users)
I found an article on importing contacts into gmail.
(Sorry that I can't post the outside link here. You may search "Outlook contact to gmail" in Google. The first link should help you.)
After importing the contacts into your gmail, you can sync the contacts between your phone and your gmail.
Hope that I can help you!
On Windows remove MTP driver and reinstall without kies (plug SGS2, wait)
try to connect with debugging USB ON, the OFF (it is working when USB debug , bug )

PC wont recognize phone as storage

Im so saaad! i think its all my fault.. i copied everything from my galaxy s2 storage over to my new xperia s.. and now it doesnt recognize the phone so i can transfer files..
what should i do ? please help!
btw the phone is just awesome! wauw!
I would also like to know how to properly mount the storage to a PC so that it is recognised as a Mass Storage Device rather than a MTP connection..?
Its so annoying not being able to see thumbnails of the pictures/videos you are trying to access..its also annoying that the PC has to spend time on downloading the files before playing rather than streaming straight from the storage.
Anyone have any ideas? plz..
Rather than starting a new thread I just used this one..thx in advance
When you connect the phone, on notification bar should say Internal storage connected. When you go to My Computer you should see Other section, where new device come up, called... Xperia S. Double click on it, so it goes to Internal storage. Again, double click and... you can see internal content. Hope it helps.
Same thing happened to me.... Today onwards time n again seeing a mtp driver failed issue when connecting to my win7 laptop. It wad working fine earlier. When I switch off n restart the device,it installs driver correctly and autoplay option comes up to open the xperia s device. However when I click on open folder, I dont see any folders in my xperia s phone. Hence no file transfer is possible. How can I get my phone working again?
I tried to do pc system restore... Since it was working yesterday...but that didnt solve the issue either. Any ideas?

Do you use different USB ports? Try to stick to only one. I still have XP and mine is always working, so this is definitely PC and windows issue.
I have a Win7 64bit Home Premium edition VAIO.
when I first got the phone, I could use it to connect to PC Companion. It would also show up as a storage device automatically, and using the same I had copied over music and pictures.
However, after 2 days of use, I noticed, my phone was no longer being identified as a device. Also, it gets a Code 10 - Device cannot be started error when I look into the driver details.
I tried to reinstall the MTP driver, but it never gets installed successfully. It always gives a driver failed to install error.code 10.
I can still connect my WD hard disk and other usb devices.
I saw somewhere in the Forum someone had described that I needed to uninstall and reinstall WMP to make this work. Didnt work
I downloaded the Windows DEK to ensure that all the drivers gets reinstalled, that didnt help either.
I also restored my laptop back to factory setting......still no luck with the fresh install.
So, here I am with a phone where I cant connect the device to move in OR out music/pictures etc.
The problems are:
1) MTP driver gives an error while installation. I tried to manually select the MTP USB driver and isntall it. That didnt work either.
2) When I connect SEUS, with the phone restarted by holding the volume button SEUS identifies the phone and shows me that there are no updates. Not sure if SEUS can be used for exploring the phone. Most probably NO.
3) PC companion tries to find the phone. It says it may take few minutes to identify the phone if it has lots of files. After that the operation fails suggesting that PC companion could not find the phone.
I restarted both the phone and my device several times......did not work.
I uninstalled the MTP and USB drivers and restarted and got them reinstalled........didn't work either.
Any idea on what needs to be done?
I have tried all the ports and a different USB cable as well.
I even tried changing settings of the usb port as described in the below link..
Nothing worked
Is it possible to get the Sony specific drivers from somewhere?
Hi has this problem been solved. I have two computers, the win 7 one installed fine but it refuses to work on the xp one.
any help?

I've got the same problem, but you can still use MyPhoneExplorer from
.fjsoft.at
to access your phones data. please also read the forum, because it needs an app on your phone too.
fjsoft.at/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11454
Also I've called with the xperia help line about a driver pack, but there aren't any lose available, exept what is in SEUS or PC Companion, but they don't work for me.
Can also some tell me if SEUS also will provide the new firmware 6.0.A.3.67? because SEUS tells me that my phone is uptodate, but I still have 6.0.A.3.62.
Install the latest version of media player, that worked for me.
Try connecting phone in Debug mode. On first time MTP driver installation will fail too but after that disconnect phone, disable Debug mode in phone and connect. Now it should working.
If will not working then go to Device manager on your PC, find "Mobile devices", select something with MTP in name, right click and choose "Uninstall". Disconnect phone, connect again and now it should working.
Worked for me!
Hurray! I fixed it on my computer WinXP sp3. I did everything with MTP bla bla winmedia11 even dev kit MTP = No fix.
go to Settings-> apps-> handle apps-> all-> MtpApp <open it.
Clear data and cache. (restart phone if you want)
plug the phone in USB and wait.. the scanner/camera thing comes up.
Right click on This computer (my computer?) chose "Handle" -> device manager -> scanners and printers-> right click on the "phone" -> settings -> device driver-> update.
Chose let windows search for XXX and voila MTP device driver found and installing.
(I'm using Swedish interface so the names of step might be wrong )
I can confirm that delete data / cache on MTP App indeed solved the problem. Thanks

Windows XP can not install usb drivers.

Hi, I am using windows xp 32 bit sp3.(work pc) I can not get any of the usb drivers to install. I have used the drivers I downloaded from the tool kit 5.0 still no good.
Messege I get is phone has been used before and needs to be ejected and pc rebooted.
I have tried every way I know to do what messege says.My problem is the phone is seen as a digital camera. This is not helping matters.
I can only connect via the camera and take pictures from phone to pc. Thats all.
Any ideas? ( I am in UK)
Install KIES that install the drivers .

Does a USB icon appear on your phone at the top left of the screen when you plug into USB? If so, drag down the notification bar. Does it say "Connected as a camera"? If so, tap that and select "Media device (MTP)"
http://db.tt/bcP5fVPt or go their, download the windows drivers, and run....simples

I have that driver. with out phone connected and everything uninstalled through device manager The drivers will not go in.
Messege is still either phone is or has been used and needs to be ejected then pc rebooted before trying install again.
None of this works.
I have tried using debug mode..phone came up in Device manager but with yellow question marks..no drivers could be found.
I am on a work pc with no admin priv.
I have connected phone in MTP mode. PC still sees a digital camera.
My work mate next to me has identical pc...When I plug S3 in to his pc I can connect to pc correctly It sees phone as portable device.
I looked at the drivers via device manager. My set of drives that don't work are..
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\usbscan.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ptpusb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\ptpusd.dll THESE DO NOT CONNECT PHONE CORRECTLY
the pc that does connect correctly use...
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wpdusb.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\wudfrd.sys THESE CONNECT CORRECTLY
How do I remove all trace of incorrect drivers and put correct ones in.
Kies does not allow my old S2 or my S3 to connect.
can not connect to microsoft update via works pc either.
I've finally fixed my usb problem on a WinXP pc by updating Windows Media Player (?!!). I was on version 9 and updated to 11. Then i've reinstalled the Samsung USB Drivers and there, it magically works. You won't probably like me, need of WMP 11 but it was the only solution for me. Hope this will work for you too. I guess, the update to WMP 11 has cleaned up and installed some required libs for the drivers, who knows.
Try to disable the usb debugging and connect GSII with the computer.
Some windows will pop up to alert you some drivers are missing.
Let the computer install drivers(just use automatic).
Done.

I think it is clear the the OP had already tried your suggestion many times, and it didn't work. I have the same problem, and have resorting to using a second PC to load files, or removing the SD card and plugging it into a separate SD card reader. I have done as you suggested many times. When I install the phone USB, it finds the USB device, selects the correct drivers, then spins for a long time and then fails.
I have not tried updating windows media player yet, will follow up with status after I do.

Windows8 Drivers

I am having problems using Galaxy S3 i9300 4.1.1 with Windows 8 RTM x64.
I have installed Kies latest (2.5.0.12094_28). And i can see device is connected and i can even take backups. But when i am trying to send mp3 files it is giving an error "File Transfer from PC to 'GT-I9300' has been interrupted"
Also when the device is connected to PC via USB, i can see the contents in Windows Explorer but if i try to delete something, or upload a document there it says i dont have permisson.
With the same phone and PC, in Windows7 or XP there is no problem.
I have tried severel options like, "USB Debugging Mode", reinstall drivers, remove ghost drivers etc.
It just never worked for Windows8.
Any ideas or solutions?
I can tell you only: get used to it...nobody likes windows 8 and most likely even big companies will most likely slack doing drivers, even those who doesnt will yake their yime to make win8 drivers-dont get me wrong, i love win8, im running it since consumer preview

I mess about with stuff saved on my microSD card and phone very regularly with both my Windows 8 notebook (Release Preview) and tablet (RTM), connected by USB. My notebook has the Kies software installed, whereas the tablet doesn't. I don't have the problems you speak of.
On my notebook's Device Manager, with my phone plugged in, I have a category 'SAMSUNG Android Phone' with 'SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface' beneath it. Do you have that? My version of the driver is 2.9.503.726, dated 27/07/2012. On a side note, I also have the category 'Modems' with 'SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem' beneath it.
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, and letting Windows install suitable drivers for you?

[Q] CyanogenMod 11 -> Eclipse/ADB not detecting YP-G1 device

Howdy.
I recently updated my YP-G1 from CM10 to CM 11 [4.4.2]. I need to use my device for Android app development (and have used it before way back when it was on stock, but haven't used it in a very long time), but am unable to get ADB/Eclipse to detect that there is a device detected. Using the emulator is not an option at this point, as I need to do some work with a real camera.
I've got the Android USB debugging enabled on the device, and the little notification that debugging is enabled comes up when I plug it in.
Things I've tried:
1) Update Eclipse/ADT (complete uninstall + reinstall)
2) Update Google USB Driver (from SDK manager)
3) Update Samsung Kies
4) Google
The only related forum thread that I've located for this situation is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776828, which just implies that Windows should be auto-detecting the device. Windows is not doing that.
I have noticed that the YP-G1 drivers do not show up as installed under Device Manager. Perhaps that is the source of the problem? I have not been able to rectify that situation via Kies, so I am unsure. Kies doesn't even detect that the device is connected!
If it matters, I'm running on Windows 8.
Thanks much.
P.S. -- I'd post in the CM11 thread, but since I just registered, I am not allowed to do so, unfortunately.
Edit: I got mine to work finally. I solved my issue by allowing windows to automatically search windows updates for drivers. After I did that it found them and it worked, so try that.
I too am having this issue and it's really bugging me. I've tried everything I can possibly think of but I cannot get the drivers to install. I'm using windows 7 64 bit and it sees the YP-G1 but it doesn't have the drivers so things like kies and adb won't detect it. Any solution would be very helpful.
Strange...that's what the thread I linked to suggested. I've tried that multiple times to no avail. Perhaps Windows 8 doesn't find it, while 7 does for some reason? I've tried doing searches via both Device Manager and Windows Update.
Could you perhaps upload the driver files it found? You should be able to figure out what/where those are by using Device Manager, then right click the YP-G1 and go to Properties, then the driver tab, then driver details. Maybe they'll work on Windows 8 as well as 7. I might try plugging my device into someone else's computer to see if somehow mine is just acting stupid.
Thanks for your reply!
Edit: I've plugged my device into another computer. You're right -- on Windows 7, it can find the drivers just fine. On Windows 8, it can't. Go figure. Now to figure out where to get those files and/or how to get the device recognized..... (??)
