can't reinstall angrygps on Passion v13 - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I disabled angrygps as I read some people freeze it to resolve gps problem. That didn't help and I wanted to enable it but I can't find it in the apps list anymore. So I uninstalled it using Titanium backup and reinstalled it. The icon still didn't appear. A few more things happened and my backup disappeared too! I extracted the signedangrygps.apk from the rom and copied it into system/apps, changed the permission and reboot. Still don't see it. Click to install and it say "Application not installed". I tried flashing without wipe. Still nothing. How can I reinstall the app? Is full wipe the only way out?

Not sure... I even pulled angrygps from passion and extracted into cm9 and works.

Can't install or update apps!

Okay I can't seem to install any new apps or update any existing ones on my phone. I'm able to download them, but once it tries to install its always unsuccessful. Don't get mad if this is the wrong thread. I'm new to this but usually find answers to my problems with someone else's topic. Except for this one here. Any help?

Try clearing system cache, reboot into recovery and clear dalvik cache, then reboot.
How do you clear system cache? Searched under settings could not find anything.
I've has the same problem. Lasted about two days. The apps would download but would stick on installing forever and would eventually fail. My solution was logging into Google on the phones browser. It seems like my account timed out on my phone, and after logging out and then back in, my market began to work perfectly again. You can also try what was posted above. Are you rooted? Cause of you aren't, then you won't be able to do those things said above. Good luck, hope this helps.

Tried clearing cache and signing in and out of Google. Neither worked. I have opera set up as default browser, tried with both opera & phones regular browser. Still nothing. Yes I'm rooted, running kaosfroyo v34.

Try a factory/data reset. Sounds like your only option.
Reflash after that to make sure it loaded correctly.
A simple flash over to KaosFroyo V 37 fixed the problem. Thanks for the suggestions.

Clear data for the market in settings. That usually works for me. If it doesn't, you can install the apps manually by using a file system manger (Linda File Manager, Root Explorer, etc.). The .apk should be in the download folder on the sd.

Ok so I've tried all suggestions and nothing has seemed to work. I figured, why not try a new rom? So I flashed over to Vanilla Tazz. Seemed ok at first. Was able to update apps and download some new ones. Emphasis on SOME. Cannot for the life of me get back AndroZip which is my favorite file manager. Even backed it up with Titanium before all this started happening but still could not restore it. And now with Vanilla all you get is the crappy Android keyboard. So I download the HTC ime keypoard apk. Can't install that either. Try to download eoeAppInstaller to do so, can't install that. This is really, really, really pissing me off. Is a factory reset my only hope?

Did you do a full wipe before installing the new rom? Try doing a dalvik wipe and rebooting. It shouldn't affect the current rom you're in.
Also, it sounds like whatever problem you had in the old rom was carried to the new one. Did you use titanium to restore any apps or settings? If so, you may have "restored" the problem.
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
Have you messed with any system apps? Like moving the market to the sd card?
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
I backed up my kaos rom and wiped all data and cache before flashing vanilla tazz. Just wiped dalvik but still no luck.
I used titanium to restore apps but no settings. And no I haven't messed with system apps. Should I try moving to sd?

I had a problen with my FB not syncing with contacts (across several roms). Turns out something I was restoring with Titanium (not the FB app) was causing it. It'll be a pain in the rear, but you probably need to do a full wipe, flash a clean rom, and set everything up manually. OR you could probably nand restore to a rom BEFORE you were having this problem, create a Titanium back up, wipe, flash the new rom, and restore Titanium.
Hopefully, this will straighten things out for ya!

Full wipe as in factory reset right? Will that unroot the phone as well, basically forcing me to start from scratch?
Sent from my VANILLA TAZZ using XDA App
Tried nand restore but kept getting an error and could not complete.
Sent from my VANILLA TAZZ using XDA App
Full wipe for "rooters" means wipe data, dalvik, and ext (if sd card is partitioned).
Have you renamed your nandroid? If so, remove any spaces and try again.

How exactly are you transferring them to your sd card?

Can you elaborate a little bit on exactly what happens? Do you mean the apps are uninstalled, or that they just don't appear in the launcher right away? Whenever you have apps on the SD, when you first boot it does take a few minutes for them to show up in the app drawer, since the system has to rescan the SD card and make sure everything is still there.
Same thing happened to me today. I'm rooted and was previously running one of the few 2.2 roms compatible with DL09.
In Adryn's new 2.8 thread, he stated that SC2.8 was compatible with DL09, so I decided to give it a try. I restored my apps via TB, making sure to restore "apps only" (no system data). All was well until I rebooted today in an effort to get Voodoo enabled (kept stating "enable on next reboot"). After rebooting, I now have 0 apps in my app drawer.
I re-DL'd Root Explorer to check my app drawer. Sure enough, they're all there... just not viewable or launchable in my app drawer.
I flashed via CWM (red) wiping: cache, dalvik cache, and system wipe before doing any of this, so I'm not sure where I went wrong?
Nevermind... got off easy. A simple reboot fixed my problems!

Hmm ... what launcher are you using? What ROM are you using? Just so I understand ... the icon is just gone, not turned into something different (i.e. a green and white box with an android on it - or something like that)?
If you are using Launcher Pro Plus, I had the same issue. Asks for unlock code, I put it in, says accepted, then forgets that it was input. I asked LP support about this and got this response. "You can solve this issue by using a root explorer and erasing /dbdata/databases/com.fede.launcher
If you are not rooted, a factory reset should work. I would recomend performing a backup prior to the reset."
I erased the file and it worked.

Accidentally deleted "Calendar STORAGE"

I was attempting to delete the stock calendar because I prefer Gemini Calendar. I made a back-up in TB but then when I went to click it and uninstall it TB must not have been fully loaded because it moved up one and I uninstalled calendar STORAGE. Now Gemini won't open at all, it acts like it will but then immediately closes. I've tried many different calendars since and they all do the same thing. I did try re-flashing gapps and also I followed the thread here with the stock calendar.apx but neither worked. I really don't want to have to re-flash my ROM or lose any data if possible. Please help

I don't think calendar is stored in GAPPS, well anyways, I suggest you go download CM7 rom again, extract the zip and look into system/app and go find calendar storage.
Replace in same place with the same app.
Thanks, I will definitely try that.

Did it work?
I uninstalled it and now can't access , sync or create local calendars.. Looking for the correct version for ICS4.0.4 to reinstall and hoping that will relink everything but am doubtful it will be that easy.
I downloaded the files provided and put them into /system/apps then I clicked on the apk hoping it would magically fix all my problems but it just said install failed so how do I get the sucka reinstalled?

4.0.4 calendar & sync apks. http://db.tt/KkMpf14m unzip and push to system/app and set permissions like the other apks in system. Good Luck
Edit, don't forget to boot into recovery and wipe cache and in "advanced" , wipe dalvik afterwards...If shiz dont work then clear data in both those apps and reboot
No such luck I'm afraid.

Insufficient Storage Available

hi:
i use [ROM] UNOFFICIAL CM9 with working camera prev9

an app stopped working.. cleared cache from settings--no change..
reboot, cleared cache and delvik.. tried fix permissions also--no change..
uninstalled app / reinstalled app-- got error "Insufficient Storage Available"
looked for any ".com" references to the app--didnt see any
i have 219mb used and 1.3GB free internal storage ..
i also dont see setting to install to SD by default, just in case that would help..
i havent tried to install anything while on this latest prev9, i doubt thats the problem tho..
thanx for any help
You have to delete the .odex file related to that app usually in /system/app if not I'm pretty sure you can delete.odex files using Lucky Patcher

Are you using something like root explorer? It may be in /data/app but I'm pretty sure the file manager had to be root enabled. You remember how sometimes in Windows you uninstall a program but the shortcut and folder are still there? You have to manually go in and delete those files yourself? That's giving you that insufficient storage issue. If all else fails, full wipe out wipe of system will put you clean again.

k, i did what you sugg'd:: did find a related odex and deleted it..
reinstalled from google play .. gave me the"unfortunately...has stopped" error..the same as my original prob that started my insufficient space error..
i guess im beat..
i ll probly have to wipe out and reinstall ..
i thought for sure a restore from nandroid wouldve helped tho..
thanx..

After you delete the .odex, just to be certain the app is restored to the pre-odex state, in Lucky Patcher > Long press troublesome app > Remove ODEX with Changes! (restore application).
Then, go into system/settings/applications/all applications/Google Play Store and hit 'clear data'. Reboot into Recovery > Wipe dalvik & cache (a tad redundant, I know), reboot into system.
If this fails, after clearing caches, try re-flashing Gapps.

thanx for the reply.
i did fresh install including prev9.. i now do nandroid backup of that clean, naked install -- nothing else installed..
i will do a nandroid restore of a previously working backup and try all you
suggest..
i dont know if there is more current version of gapps than "gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip", but i ll find out find what i need
thanx again

I stumbled across an application that should rectify your issue:
Amaze Memory Clear
Give it a shot if you are still having that issue. Report back, too - I'm kinda curious, myself.
that extra step you took was really great of you.. i will try it..
EDIT::
i found an obscure workaround for my original prob.. install ol file manager.. dont have to change anything.. just have it installed..
it did fix the stopped working problem..
so i reverted to my nandroid prev9 backup , installed ol file manager on this backup and everything works as before..
i did installed your memory clear app and it found quite a bit of space after i cleared apps cache and recovery mode cache and delvik..
so altho i dont know if it wouldve fixed my original prob, i do know it frees up alot of space...
really , i would bet against it fixing that prob cuz i had alot of space .... i didnt have much installed..
thanx for the tip

Can't get root access

Hey everyone. I seem to be in a little trouble here.
I had rooted my phone a while ago. I odexed some apps, superuser included. Now, superuser started crashing on me randomly. I tried unrooting and rooting again. But it seems like the odex file is causing issues, not letting superuser work it's magic.
I can uninstall any apps, even system ones via flashtool. But I can't reinstall apps that had gotten odexed. And they aren't working properly, just like superuser. I can't seem to think of a way to delete the odex file, since to get root I need to delete the odex file.
Is there any way for me to maybe wipe my system? Or just delete that odex file? I don't have CWM installed. I somehow remember reading of installing CWM without root, but I'm not so sure anymore.
Full wipe, clearing, deleting. Anything you've got to offer would be nice. Anything that works.
EDIT: Also, I don't have access to the Google Play store app. That crashed too.

Tried that. Didn't help. Just get's rid of the installation of non sytem apps. Everything else is pretty much intact.
I even tried installing another superuser. Didn't work either.
In fact, flashtool says root access exists. While other apps like android commander and qtadb don't seem to think so.
EDIT: Solved, thanks. What I initially had was only the kernel. Wiped and flashed. Back to normal now. Thanks.
