I bought my prime an dock for school usage. My math class requires me to use MyMathLabs web site to do some homework, which requires flash. It supposedly is supported by Firefox, Chrome, and IE. I use Dolphin HD as my primary browser and Firefox secondary if I need something that requires unique support. However, I'm unable to access my homework. I can log in, proceed through various menus but when I go to open the problems, I recieve an error about a broken plug in. What may I be missing?
I can't wait for real Chrome to be released for tabs...
Thanks for reading, I appreciate any suggestions, as I can't afford to not have access to this site and it's a pain to use a shared computer at school or to go to my parents for theirs.
All flash and plug ins and apps are most recent version.
A link to the math labs web site would be helpful. I'm going to go look for it, and probably find it, but the easier you make it for people to help you the more help you're likely to get.
Ok, found it. it's www.mymathlab.com, as expected.
Which class are you taking, and did you run the Installation Wizard and/or Browser Check?
I might add I have at least 6 browsers installed on my Prime at the moment, I plan to check all of them. My current fav is ICS+ so I'll start with it. I'll list them with links and results later.

Only in beta, last I checked.
I have the same problem on my prime, but half way works on my evo 4g running stock gingerbread

If you have good wifi at your school you could use splashtop which is already installed on the prime. As a workaround.
Thank you

Thanks for your patience, I tried to be as thorough as I could be. My apologies. I am taking Math 053 :/
As I said before, I'm only having trouble when I get to the point of being able to actually look at the questions for the homework or quizes. I can view all the menus leading up to that point and access everything else except the important stuff lol.
I've used Firefox, Dolphin HD and the stock browser. I'm considering Opera, but I'm not sure if it will do any better.
Also, I'm not familiar with splashtop, but I'll look into it, thanks!
Any other help is appreciated
Chrome for Android will NEVER have Flash support.
Also, am I the only one who read the thread title differently, substituting an "e" for an "a?" Maybe I should do a bit less work with my County's Narcotics unit. (I am in IT for the County here.)

Boat Browser or ICS Browser + are both highly recommended. You might try them.
Also, there is a Browser Check feature on MyMathLabs. I recommend loading up the page in all your browsers separately and running that to see if any of them are supposed to be compatible.
Same issue on of v909 tablet
I have the same issue with my lg v909 tablet and Samsung galaxy s2. My tablet is only on android 3.1 or 2 I think. I've been struggling with this issue for a while now. On every browser that I use. Need help like crazy for this bc I havemidterms this week.

I just got my Nook Tablet 2 days ago and am very frustrated by the lack of instruction that I am finding on the internet about using this.
I know how to buy books and to change settings. I have my gmail set up but I cannot figure out the internet portion of this. For some reason the facebook login page was made to be my homepage and I have tried to change it many times....didn't work through settings. Also, while in facebook, I do not see "chat" or who is currently online. Am I doing something wrong? I did not see fb as an app in the app store.
I also have been looking at your lists of apps that everyone has added to their NT. Again, I am frustrated because I do not know what any of you are talking about. I am no techie!
Please help me out here or this thing is going back.
Joyce
If you go over to the B&N website and click on support for the Nook Tablet, you will get links to a dedicated 200 page user manual in pdf. Hopefully that might answer some of your questions.
I have read the manual and it does not give specifics for fb.
I don't think chat is an option with the mobile fb site. Also, the fb app is not available through the market on the nook. There is a fb apk file in the "must have apps" thread here, but not sure if it has chat either.
One thing Barnes and Noble has over Amazon is an actual store.
If you take your NT to the store, someone there should be able to help you set it up the way you want.
In your case specifically, I would recommend ignoring postings about side loading and rooting until you have quite a bit of experience using the stock Nook. You will avoid a lot of frustration that way.
The Alps listed in the "must have" are pretty easy to install and use. Just go to that page from the browser on your nt and click on the link(s). You'll see a little arrow in your notification area, click that and choose the package installer. At some point you'll need to check to OK installing non-market apps. Once you've installed the apps, you can get to them by seaching from the nooks search function. I would recommed installing the Amazon market and buying wave launcher. It will let you access up to 12 apps by swiping a finger, and you can also access all your apps through an app drawer that way too.

I think the OP has received several helpful replies to their problem.
As for the forum itself, I'm new and my experience has been that each of my polite inquiries have received responses, including help side-loading, rooting, and issues with default ringtones.
Perhaps insulting those who are in no hurry to get on Skype and talk to someone they've never met, is a questionable approach. Just a thought.

"Meet" is probably the wrong word. In this sense it would be seeing a number of posts from a user to get a feel for how they deal with others, how knowledgable they are, etc.
You have no doubt seen posts from people which gave you a strong desire to have no interaction with them at all. That kind of thing.
In the very short time I've been watching these forums I've already seen several people jump in with an extremely demanding attitude. Like somehow they're entitled to everyone's immediate help.
Where does that come from? This isn't a Barnes & Noble site. These people aren't paid by B&N. Coming in demanding help seems like the wrong tack to take. If someone is looking to rant about the device they'd probably be more successful going into a B&N store.
Similarly, if you want detailed help on formatting epubs then perhaps a reader-specific forum might be more useful. Something like the Calibre forums maybe. Yes, the Nook Tablet is a reader but the vast majority of the posts here gear towards to the Android tablet side of the device--not the e-reader side.

Everyone claims they like people so much. Cell phones are flying off the shelves, Skype is more popular than ever--even Gmail has a BUILT IN PHONE--but we're afraid to call "strangers" or "random internet people" because they could be p*****s, so how can you convince me that you really like people when you're so afraid of them? Who are people calling? Who are you calling? People who already agree with you? Sounds like a boring life to me.

Dude, maybe people don't want to take time out of their day to be your personal nook/android tutor when literally every single person has figured **** out themselves by either using the forum search function or using Google. If you used your time to do research instead of writing long rambling posts, you would already be way ahead of where you are now regarding knowledge. Seriously, everything you ever wanted to know about android is at your fingertips, you just need to put the work in yourself.

In regards to the op... he did seem to come into a technical forum to attemp to figure out very basic usage information. Read a few threads here and im sure youll pick up some things. I had to google a lot of acronyms and things last week to get up to speed. Kexec, cwm, etc. You'll pick it up. Just keep reading!
I think this has been one off the nicer forums on here, and and I'm proud to be a part of it.
In general augustusbot is 100% correct. This is a forum for modding not for basic usage, the problem though is in general there is no good manual for any android device. The fact that Barnes and Noble has physical stores is great, it is their job to show you how to use your device.

jdubr is just being polite. Nobody wants to talk to you because you behave like a b**t on this forum. The internet is a place full of normal people, but it has its fair share of we****s/a*****es. And we know very little about a person other than what we can discern from their online behaviour. From your prior posts, I personally find you a "***** ******** ******". And I believe most other people would feel the same way. That's why no one wants to talk to you. Try cooling off, then going through your previous posts and looking at them objectively. See if this happens in real life, or in other forums/personal interactions.
It's well and good saying you are well-liked. But based on the evidence we see, it seems to be the opposite. Nobody owes you information, or help. Anything anyone provides here is a gift, yet you demand it and complain when you don't get it.
It's true that information on forums isn't always very organised. But that's just the way they function. There ARE efforts to make it neater. But sometimes the developers/etc are too busy trying to figure out higher level problems to neaten up their work for a beginner to follow. In any case, they don't owe it to you, me, or anyone else.
I'm sure the developers would be more than happy to have people put up tutorial videos for them. But you have to ask nicely, and put in your own effort as well. The effort taken to develop/program/code is immense. To make things fair, how about putting in some of your own effort rather than adding to their load by asking them to simplify/explain everything in a beginner friendly manner?
To the OP, Joyce, there are various FB chat programs on the Android Market, you can try them instead of the official FB app. Also, there is some information on the Android Development Subforum about changing your screen dpi to 160, which may allow you to see the normal FB app on market. But that aspect is not fully firmed up yet, so you might want to wait a week or two till they have it stable.
As for "must have" apps, if you are new to Android, try downloading some of them which sound good, and try them for yourself. What others find good, may not work well for you. And part of the fun is exploring the Market to find apps that fit your purposes well, even if they aren't particularly popular. Try reading the descriptions and reviews on the Market for a quick feel of how the app works.

Hey XDA, it's been a while,
I need a new phone and was considering buying the Atrix and a lapdock for taking notes during lectures. I thought this would be a good idea considering how portable the lapdock is and how many books are in my bag. I already have a beast Core i7 system at home so that's where I would be typing essays, doing research, etc. But for lectures all I really need is some sort of word processing app.
I've been reading mixed things about tethering and lapdock usage though and I don't know that I fully understand what is going on. My phone plan currently does not have any data at all and I am not interested in tethering, just wifi use now and then. Also, I am on T-Mobile.
So my questions are:
-Is this a good choice for portable, note taking?
-Do I need some sort of data plan or AT&T specific tethering plan in order for me to use this at all?
-Can I still use this if I unlock it to T-Mobile?
Oh, and thanks in advance!
Sure, this would be decent option - just keep it in airplane mode and turn on wifi manually when you have access.
Use any of the word processing/not taking apps and you could even record the audio of the speaker/prof to review later.
Get you a decent sized SD card to store that audio though!
Good luck and NEVER stop learning.
I may be wrong, but i thought the apps for webtop were web based? So if you don't at least have wifi in the class you won't be able to take notes. At least that's what I think, I dont have a lapdock so I'm not sure. But if I am, you could always download a note taking app on the phone and the just access the phone screen from the lapdock and take notes in the app. Hope I helped!

No, not necessarily, but you could mod webtop following some of the guides and get you openoffice.
However, you can use the mobile view and use one of the Android note taking apps fullscreen.

Words of wisdom!!!
Thanks for the the feedback, everyone. It's sounding like this might be a great way to go. I was looking at specs and carrying this thing around will be so much better than lugging my 16" cinderblock laptop around in my backpack.
So is webtop an app that is installed on the Atrix itself or is it an "OS" that is built into the lapdock? This is sort of confusing because isn't the lapdock essentially just a screen and keyboard, for the mobile device, without a CPU, GPU, memory, etc?
Also, does the "mobile view" just stretch the tiny screen onto the larger screen or does it actually take advantage of the increased screen size? Hopefully that question makes sense.
Even if I can't use webtop or webtop apps without a web connection, it's sounding like (thanks to xda devs) there is still a lot of functionality in this system. At home I've been dual booting Windows and Ubuntu for ages now so I'm a huge fan of Open Office so that's great news for me.

+1 here too. Took the words right out of my mouth. I will add that it makes my bookbag lighter for carrying around my stuff for college. I actually like all the looks I get when i use it since its not the common. People make the best comments ever.
true the apps are web based but when you open quick office or quick office pro you can use it to take notes and stuff you dont need internet. Also you can save this and edit it and polish it up at home on your pc.
I recommend you mod your webtop to a full Ubuntu jaunty installation with xfce4. Like that you will have to stop wandering what it does, because it'll do nearly everything you would expect a laptop to do. I don't know how into modding you are, but check these forums, plenty of info out there

Can you do that?! Modding isn't an issue for me. Especially since most of the guides on XDA are pretty much idiot proof. But won't Ubuntu run slowly? Is it even stable?
I'm still not sure how the webtop app works. Is it built into the lapdock or the Atrix?
All my remaining questions about the webtop app and the lapdock have been answered by the google. Thanks to everyone for their replies!
First the usual disclaimer, i searched and did not find an answer.
Now, I don't know if i'm doing something wrong but some links I get in my email or on some forums will not redirect properly. Specifically, ebay daily deal, newegg and some links on slickdeals do not load. Is it a setting? I've been just living with it but I would really like some help. I am on stock rom, rooted, and have tried every browser to no avail. It's either an android issue or a setting because my touchpad on cm9 is the same. Clicking on the link gets webpage not available.
Just so there is no question about the links they work on my pc and ipad.
Any ideas?

I have not tried flashing a ROM on my Atrix but strangely enough I have the same issue with my Touchpad on CM7 and CM9. Not sure if you or anyone else gets the ebay daily deals email but I would love for someone to check and see if they can open the links. I can forward the email is someone wants, just PM your email address. I also have today's newegg deal which opens on the ipad but not on any android device I have.
By the way Voelker45, thanks for trying to help. I have been thinking about flashing my phone but held off while under warranty. Now that the warranty is up I could do it with guidance from someone like yourself. I would really like to know if I'm doing something wrong that the links don't work currently.
Does anyone have any ideas? I just tested today's ebay daily deal email. Tried it on wifi and mobile data. Tried it in stock browser and opera. Nothing works. Can someone at least tell me they get ebay daily deals and can launch them just fine.
Thanks

Voelker45 , I want to thank you for taking the time to try and diagnose my issue. I did some very extensive searching today. I determined that ebay was using and ad company to handle it's links and redirect to its site. The ad company's address is "links.p0.com". Did some searching on that and found that people reported having issues in Windows also with links from other places (not ebay) and isolated it to their host files blocking the site. Then did some searching on android host files and that's when it stuck out in black and white to me. One find in my search mentioned "adfree" and I realized I'm running adfree. So another search came up with the location of the host files for adfree. The file was too big to edit through root explorer so I emailed it to myself, removed the website and emailed it back. FINALLY, it's working. Makes sense when I think about it now but it just never occurred to me. Now on to figuring out what newegg is using and unblock that. Thank you again friend. Even though you didn't give me the solution you did engage me allowing me to get my mind churning.
Who knows this might benefit someone else.

My tablet was doing this to me too. I couldn't figure out why my links weren't redirecting me to the site after I clicked on them. I'm glad you posted this.
I had a trial with the S4 but returned it due to my eyes hating the display compared to my old Samsung Infuse super clear, bright display. I had disabled every bit of bloatware and successfully installed Adobe flash player, and could play flash videos on sites through certain browsers (Boat and Dolphin). I must be able to watch flash American Sign Language videos so I would like to know of others experiences with the HTC One worked well, or not, for flash videos after installing flash player as I had on the S4.
Thanks...

Yes, that is what the S4 stock browser supposedly did also but in reality it did not. That's why I'm wanting to know of users real life experiences playing various videos on different web pages before I buy the ONE. The display of the ONE is so far superior to the S4!

Thank you... I just spent the day trying to find a live HTC One in the 'big' city area of Vermont. There were plenty of S4, but only mock-ups of the ONE. Best Buy, Walmart and several AT&T stores only had the fakes.... and the AT&T corporate store was beyond rude and ignorant!
The most important videos need my login info. On the following page there is a video on the top right side and also the lower right side, http://www.lifeprint.com/that that would be a good start.
Another site is http://www.signingsavvy.com/browse.php
Type a simple word in the search box and a video should come up to play.
That would be a big help. Thanks...

Unfortunately, most of the American Sign Language sites, especially those with thousands of word sign videos. ASL is completely visual, no voice. An ASL site programmer I know said it's been an absolute nightmare since the new phones and tablets have been phasing out flash and there are so many different platforms dealing with it differently.

On the first site, I couldn't get the upper-right video to play. It showed up as a flash movie, but the play button didn't work. The video in the lower-right seemed to work, though.
Couldn't test the second site, as it says a login is required to search.
Thanks for trying...

I know Lifeprint.com is trying, but they and many of the other sites have such a massive amount of video files from decades of individual vocabulary word signs, etc. It is a major job that has not gone smoothly. Think of changing format of each word in an unabridged dictionary (visual only). On each and every ASL site I use there are people writing in daily about their devices not able to play the videos... Mac, Windows, IOS, Android, and all of the individual variables from before and after the flash/HTML5 upheaval. Most of these people are not particularly cyber-tech savvy and just need to be able to watch the videos to learn ASL. I have severe hearing loss and can not use hearing aids so I have been trying to learn sign for several years. In the beginning the issues were only my own brain not being on board to learn ASL easily,.... now I am beyond frustrated with the videos and sites I depend on almost every day not working as they should.
My Infuse is in the dark ages (Froyo) with flash, but I can play most of the videos and use the ASL sites. When I had the trial with the S4, I could watch some of the videos and sites after installing flash player and a specific version of Dolphin and Boat browsers. They had many quirks though.... a video would show up but be unresponsive to touch, or the video show would play and act fine but not be able to be zoomed so it would be too tiny to see clearly. Before I had installed Flash Player none of the sites worked at all. My friend has an Iphone and Ipad and is often unable to use the ASL sites and videos. Some sites I have given up with but some I must be able to use.
Most youtube videos will play on the new phones. It's the non-youtube videos that I need to be able to watch and interact with.
AT&T had my returned S4 sitting lost somewhere in their warehouse until I had a chat and they found it. Now I am waiting for them to process and say I am able to update. I also keep hoping that HTC quality control will be improve and the Ones will come through with fewer issues. My old Infuse seems to be working better since they reactivated it with a new sim so maybe I will just wait a bit longer rather than adding another possible $36 return fee.
I use Maxthon browser to play flash websites. You can set it up to play flash always when you go to settings. It's free on play store.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, Minicoop. I had tried Maxthon browser a few times on my Infuse, my Galaxy Tab 8.9, and the S4 trial. It did not handle the specific videos I need to play well at all. I have really seen that since html5 has become the norm, all browsers that supposedly play flash websites do not play the videos I need to watch without issues or at all.
Just a confirmation about not using tools to root.

I graduated for Comp Sci&Tech & I've been open source w/ android for a year. I spent 6 months studying the development of android and how it functions I have successfully rooted my h1m7 s-off, superclocked, & nodded the hell out of it I've done the sane with Samsung s gs4 and converted my HP touchpad to Android I wouldn't spend 1penny for an iPhone! Back to the point experimenting with the touchpad I have bricked 2 times and it can be very frustrating ! First time took about 12hrs to fix and when bricked it may be permanently destroyed. So take heed when the developers tell u to know what your doing before flashing. The ones that don't listen brick and then plead,& demand, help like these guys are have nothing better to do. My apologies if this sounds harsh but this could save our $1000 smartphone! I am no professional I'm just in accord with Skizzy.

Silly Goose, we are not talking about flashing a phone. We are talking about getting a phone to play flash media which few newer phones support.

Has anyone been able to root the new Asus Transformer yet? I've tried all the one-click methods but none of them worked.
There's no dedicated forum yet too the TF701, so thought I would ask here...

As it is not available at the moment in a lot of countries: No at the moment. But there is an app to unlock Bootloader and the Kernel Source Code to download directly from Asus website, so I am hoping it will come soon

First thing would be to get a tf701t forum. I am getting one of these or the new nexus 10, depending on development for this. If there is any seriousdevelopment by Xmas, then iI'll get one, if not it get the nexus.

I just drove to New York yesterday to buy the TF701T and I must say that this version is like night and day compared to the TF700T. It is very snappy out of the box whereas the TF700T was sluggish and slow before I actually unlocked the boot loader and put cyanogenmod on it. For the TF701T, I will probably root it just for SU but I will probably keep the stock Rom because it is really smooth.

Agreed, I just received my TF701 from Amazon yesterday and right out of the box it blows my TF700 out of the water. Barely any slowdown while downloading and installing apps whereas the 700 would grind to a halt. Dock arriving today, hopefully Asus solved the dock battery draining issue as well. Root would be nice for apps like Titanium Backup but this is my first Android device - and I've owned a lot of them - that I might be happy with totally stock.

Mine is Rooted, with CWM Recovery. And it was actually a simple procedure.
I can tell you that before you even think about proceeding, you will need to have your device unlocked. That can be found at Asus's web site. In their download section, I'm sure.
Next, you'll need to make sure that your PC/Laptop can see your device. My Win7 setup saw it already as a "K00C", or some such thing, but if yours doesn't, then get the "Sync" util from Asus and install it on your PC. It'll install the drivers with it. But then go back and uninstall the Sync util. The drivers will be left on your system.
Before connecting your device, make sure to disable all Anti-Virus, Anti-Mal/Spyware from any and all Real Time scanning. Also completely disable any and all firewalls you have installed. If you haven't installed any, then guess what? Windows Firewall is still running, so disable it!
You will also need to use a USB 2.0 and not 3.0 port on your computer to connect your device to. Why? I don't know man, just do it!
Do NOT connect your device yet! You're just getting ready here!
Next you'll need the little mini ADB &FastBoot setup. You're going to have to use that to do it (it's in the video where to get it and how to use it). If he doesn't tell you where to get it from in the video, then I think this guy has a link to it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2516215
Heck, maybe that's where I got it from. I just remember that it's the "mini" version. The "just needed stuff" one.
Then go and watch the video in the link below. It's too wordy and doesn't even tell you what web sites he's looking at, so really, who cares what Josh would do (you'll get that later)?
In fact, maybe I got tired of the video and just found the guys page that I linked to above and followed that and that's where the "who cares what Josh would do" joke sticks in my head. That does sound more logical. <lol>
Either way, read through this and try that guys page, or the video first. I do know that by doing what I said in this message and using one of those two sources, you WILL get Rooted! That's a FACT! I'm sorry about this. It's just that it's been a couple of weeks since I did it and I didn't write it all down like I should have.
But here's the web sites he's looking at in the video (have them already open before starting the video):
CWM Page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2621051
CWM File: http://droidbasement.com/asus/tf701t/recovery/
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IBN1YkBp3g
Now there's stuff I'm missing in here. I probably didn't bookmark everything, but whatever I missed here, was in the video, so don't worry.
Note: Someone mentioned somewhere about keeping Recovery intact when installing a ROM, or a reset, etc.. CWM has a setting for that. It keeps the recovery intact through that stuff. I remember it kept staying on me one time when I wanted to go back to factory to sell the device and then I went into the settings and saw that one, which is enabled by default, so don't worry about that anymore.
One thing; It says in the video that you have to be at JB 4.3 first. That's correct, so update. There is one available through your device's "Software Update" thingy.
One thing that is incorrect, is when he says; "You must be at such and such version of this thing" (whatever it was), which is related to your version of JB 4.3. Yours won't be. Now yer scared, uh?
Don't worry about that. It's not true! It'll work just fine! Mine did. That was probably just what the version was when they developed this thing and so they're playing it safe. I don't blame them, but how can anyone know that it "must" be, when newer versions of JB 4.3 (huh?) hadn't come out yet. No need to scare people. Just say as far as you know.... but who knows for future revisions of the OS, right?
Anyway, this'll get ya through it, if you can deal with Josh's wordiness. Just be patient, he gets there. But you do have to take some of what he says with a grain of salt, like any of what you watch/read. My rule as a tech is, if it doesn't make sense, then it's probably wrong.
Hope this helps. And you didn't have to "Read! Read! Read!". That never gets you anywhere. You just end up reading a bunch of threads full of messages by people looking for help and others responding by telling them to read. And if you're lucky, you always end up at that one post that actually has the help you need. So why not just point people there in the first place? When that doesn't happen, XDA and other sites just end up cluttered with threads that delay people from getting help, instead of pointing them to help, which is what they were looking for in the first place, right?
Don't get me wrong, I love to read! And I encourage everyone to do the same! I'm just saying, with all due respect, reading a bunch of threads full of nothing but pleas for help and "read, read, read", is not learning. It's just noise. Unnecessary static. And threads with 70 pages of that doesn't help anyone, now does it?
I'm no saint, but this is my only post in this thread. And now there won't be 100 more messages containing "Help!!!" and "Read! Read! Read!".
The heck with that! I just want my device Rooted now! Hahaha!
If I forgot anything in here, just lemme know. I'll try to find it again. Or maybe I have the file. If you don't hear back from me, just PM me or something. I'm not on here all that much, but that will send me an alert or something, I'm sure. I think? Oh well, try it.
The biggest thing is, just don't let your fear of bricking your device overwhelm you. I have to say, that even though I never used any of this stuff before (meaning ADB & FastBoot & "pushing") and I was quite nervous, it actually was, looking back at it, a really simple procedure! So use my hindsight to hammer down that fear and Root, my son, root! <lol>
