Picked up another GS2 today, Seems like it is koren. - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know how to check? And what are the downsides?

I presume you mean Korean. You know Samsung is a Korean company, right?

Yes it am aware and ignore my spelling it has been a long day,I mean things such as baseband and such are different from what I had.

What's the model number?

Korean model does have an antenna for tv (that unfortunatly works only in Korea). However it doesn't have radio chip for FM radio. My model was SHW-M250S
Build was something like EE31 and baseband: M250S.EE17.1453.ST (I traded that phone for an european model)
I hope that helps.

[Q] Will a Galaxy S2 from Europe work in Australia?

Hey guys,
I lost my phone in Paris around 3 weeks ago while I was on a group tour of Europe. I am still waiting for my tour manager to send me a lost property form (as the French police wouldn't give me a lost/stolen report within 24 hours) and want to buy another phone. I am in London at the moment and am looking to buy a new Galaxy S2. I was wondering if all Galaxy S2s are the same – as I want it to work on the Vodafone network in Australia (Melbourne). I'm guessing I am likely to find a GT-I9100 (and not a GT-I9100T, as I had previously).
So the question is, will any Galaxy S2 work on the Vodafone network in Australia or do I have to buy a specific model (i.e. GT-I9100T)?
Thanks,
Jack.
Should do, yes. Will have to be unlocked to work on Australian networks though.
if both are gsm and if its unlocked ,then yes.
just go for the international version of i9100 , you should be ok.
since you are buying an international model with (non carrier locked) should work with any networks, no need of any unlocking.
I can confirm the opposite worked for me, lost my phone due to a night out in Melbourne on the Absinthe, bought a new phone out there and used it back in the UK after getting it unlocked no problems (On Telstra in Aus > T-Mobile UK)
But as others have said, fairly sure most models you get here are unlocked due to the international model.
Are you going to buy from somewhere like Carphone Warehouse/shop, or eB*y? You can get sGS2 off there for £260-£280 at the minute.
Why don't you wait two weeks and buy the s3!?

Where was your s3 made?

So I saw this question in the international s3 forum and thought it was interesting. What caught me by surprise was how many different answers there were. The obvious was Korea but others where Brazil, china and veitnam. One person said Germany and another said Georgia but I'm not sure how legit they were. So it got me wondering about the US versions. Here's mine...
Phone: made in china
Battery: made in Korea assembled in china
t-mobile sgs3 stock rom/rooted

Take out the battery and there should be a stickers on the phone that says where it's made and on the battery it says where the battery is made and assembled. I'm beginning to think all the US versions may be the same.

No, the GT-I9300 model does not and will not support 4G. This is the reason why the US Variants use a different SoC, as it has an inbuilt support for 4G, while the Exynos SoC does not.
4g is an absolute battery killer from what I can gather anyway, so not really bothered, do most of my downloading at home or over openzone
I reckon a Korean version would still give you the superior Exynos SOC, 2GB RAM and LTE/4G. I'm looking for somewhere to buy them. AFAIK Korean Telecomms use the same radio spectrum as we do.
The LTE version will soon be available in Germany,
Contact Orange in UK!!!!!!

Yes that would work, although I would contact orange and see if they would comment on this, although try to make sure it would go through to someone in the UK not someone in India who is reading from a script!
If you do buy it from Korea be careful with ROM's and don't forget about import tax!

Unlocked S3 ..Serial Number " Not available" ??

I purchased two samsung S3's but unlocked, i bought them on craigslist and am now a little worried. I notice that under status, it says that the Serial number is not available?
Why not? Does that have something to do with unlocked phones?
I took the phone to ATT and they put a demo sim in there, it said it was on the ATT netowrk but I could not call anyone, the ATT salesman said that it was because the SIM was a demo, sound true?
I also went to TMOBILE and put a sim in, and it said it was on the TMOBILE network but did not try to make a call.
What do you guys make of this?
i just put my tmobile sim in it and i can make calls, but absolutly no internet
Mine is unlocked and I have a serial number.
I did a little more research and this is my problem now.............. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32694323#post32694323

We're you aware of the problem before you bought it? I think the buyer ripped you of.
For internet to work have the network and you the apk, or search online for the apn settings for at&t or T-Mobile.
And like i started in your other post, you are in the wrong forum.

If its an SGS3 I9300 start at the beginning .
Does the IMEI match that on the box/sticker
Has the IMEI been blacklisted .
Are the APN settings correct for your network .
Is the modem correct for your location .
Regards serial number read the serial number missing/fix thread .
Similar posts occur with users purchasing phones from similar sources . Essential non working or stolen phones sold .

[Q] How to check if the Korean version of Samsung S3 is original or fake

I am looking to buy a original Korean version S3 but i am little confused bcoz I have seen a phone that was cheap and the owner claimed it to be original Samsung S3 Korean version but in the setting>about phone the model number was given GT-i9300.
technobuffalo had a good video on this, search on YouTube
Back glebun up on that one and seriously just Google fake s3 or something like that there will be tons of pictures..
Check the battery and serial number and cross check with Samsung themselves if you not sure..
