Hello all,
Last night, I tried updating my Rom on a sprint mogul to the recent dcd 2.2.6 and 3.27 radio.
I followed the steps of taking down the information, finding my unlock code, unlocking, and updating both roms.
It went with no problems. However my MSID was reset so i had to enter my unlock code that i got from get spc. before i reflashed my device, i checked to see if the code worked by trying to enter and edit epst.
But in windows 6.1 the unlock code didnt work, my msid and mdn were set to all 0.
I called sprint they gave me the same unlock code that didnt work.
So i tried reflashing back to the original sprint official release, that didnt work, i was getting an error 328 from the ruu.
I tried reflashing again dcd 2.2.6 rom, that worked but the radio wouldnt flash due to the same invalid command error 328 from the ruu.
So for a while i was stuck on the htc splash screen with a no radio display. I found a thread with a solution to the same problem. I flashed the leaked sprint rom 3.16, that worked and i was able to get up and running.
However in epst mode my hex and dec esn are all zeros. my original unlock code doesnt work, (the one from sprint), but when i enter in all 0 in getspc it generates the proper unlock code,
but i still can not connect to the sprint network even tho i am able to set my msid and msn to the correct values, my esn is still wrong (displays all zeros)
Can any please tell me if i can fix this, I was on the phone with sprint for 2 hrs with no avail. I need to set my esn on the phone to match my esn in hardware
Thank you,
Kevin
Okay, if I read your post right you do have your MSL number (unlock code) right? If you do, go to your keypad on the phone and dial ##3282# (##DATA#). It should ask you if you want to view or edit. Choose edit and type in your MSL number. On the main screen there should be an option on the left softkey that says "View Info". Choose that and then select "Advanced". At the top I believe you can edit your ESN number.
Hope that helps.

thank you for your reply.
I do have my unlock code. the ##data# shows the esn in advanced settings, but the box is greyed out and will not allow me to edit it.
It still shows 00000000.
Thank you, any other ideas, maybe a registy edit?
It sounds like something happened during the flash process. I talked to a PCS rep and they said you would have to bring it in and get it swapped. I can't think on any other way to get that info updated. Sorry.
no there is another way, you can sniff for the spc, the original thread about getspc had directions @ ppcgeeks

You need ths link
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17495&highlight=getspc
I went to a sprint tech and they said they i had to replace the phone, and they would order me a new one. but right now i have to wait the warehouse doesnt have any instock.
there is another way however, if it was erased by software, it can be changed by software.
I did not find anything relevant on the link above, i will keep looking through it. If someone could point me in a closer direction.
I do have my unlock code, currently all zeros, so im not looking to get my MSL number, im looking to change my ESN back to what it was, somehow it was set to all 0's during the rom update process.
Thank you,
Kevin
Perhaps you should change the thread title to something more specific to separate yourself from the masses who can't boot because they didn't upgrade their radio.
Perhaps try an RTN reset? This is a hard reset that erases provisioning data. I don't know if it can restore an ESN, but worth a try.

Is it just me or does something seem wrong with this quote. Read the instructions here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17667
The phone needs to have the unlocker program run to install a custom rom. The code from GetSPC allows you to edit the settings not unlock your phone.

Look i dont need any smart comments.
Well actually for your information, the MSL code is used to unlock your phone. the unlocker program is used to unlock your bootloader to accept a custom rom.
MSL - master subsidy lock, this locks network settings so that a user can not change them, the code given by getspc is stored in nV ram on the phone and is used to gain access to these files, thus "unlocking" the phone. unlocking the bootloader is another story...
anywho, i was able to get my phone working, i reprogrammed my esn, reprogrammed my MSL from all zeros to the proper value, and now my phone is back on the sprint network.
if you guys are interested i will write a tutorial on how i did this, just to respond to the other post, a hard reset does not restore esn data.
Good for you! I'm glad you figured it out. I would be interested on how you got it working again.

This would be a handy bit of knowledge as they go thru great lengths to keep it from being done. Ususally the filesystem for that section of the phone is locked and protected, requiring the QXDM (Qualcomm Extensible Diagnostic Monitor) software to get in. I have an older version that I used to use to play with older phones and it worked great, but a newer one would be needed for these phones. Old style glitch corruption will mess up any filesystem and even mess up protected areas, which is likely what happened to yours. I would love to know how you did it without QXDM ;-)Thanks.

Krazeintentz,
I would be very interested in your final fix for this problem. The exact same thing happened to me a while back and my only way out at the time was a replacement titan under warranty from vzw.
If we had your steps to recovery then we would be a lot closer to having a disaster recovery wiki.
As another poster said, yours was a real rom flashing problem as opposed to the numerous "brick" cases that we see everyday from just half done flashes. So it makes it all the more relevant that we have a wiki for this problem.
Regards
Since he has not said, heres a theory
The filesystem is protected from editing in the address range where the ESN resides. The QXDM software shows the actual file structure of the chipsets flash and the files have actual attributes and the ESN file is read only, so the EPST is not supposed to be able to edit the ESN (as this would be cloneing a phone and not legal). If you follow the steps in a flash memory update, you would see that the contents of these protected files are read, saved, and then the flash is totally erased, then written with the new revision, and finally the protected storage is written and the attribute is set to read only. The QXDM is required to manually unlock these attributes, but there is a key that allows the flash utility to erase the stuff. if the flash was interrupted either by hardware or software error at the point after the erase and writeback but before the write of protected file area, the ESN would be blank and also the EPST in the phone would be able to edit it in edit mode because the attribute is the very last thing written. I bet thats how he fixed it and now has a cloneable phone too and can change his ESN any time he wants, at least until he flashes the radio again which will fix the glitch by process. Thats probably what he did.
Hey guys Im a noob and im having a bit of problems
Im stuck in the bootloader screen
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40 Olipro
CPLD-9
My comp has windows vista premium so instead of activesync i have windows device center 6.1 I have unclicked allow USB connections
but i think my comp doesnt recognize that they the phone is connected at all although i do here the sound that lets me know that a usb device is connected
exitbl.exe doesn't work keeps telling me
cannot open USB port
Please make sure that USB connection in Activesync is disabled
Also make sure that your USB cable is properly connected
if it helps im on a bell phone
So, I have scoured the forums and have not yet found a solution to my current problem.
I was able to originally root my phone using the moto-fastboot method that has been posted on these threads several times to root my phone. Upon rooting I installed some standard applications to remove bloatware and toy with some of the hardware settings. I worked great. I got a little bit too confident and decided to put a custom rom on it without properly backing up(I thought I did).
So I got stuck into bootloop. Upon searching your extremely handy and helpful forums I found a way to install a new sbf and unbrick my phone using RSD lite. The operating system in now working, but it will not make or receive phone calls or data.
Possibly pertinent information:
System version: 45.0.43.MB867.ACG-nTelos.en.US (this is probably way off)
Model: Milestone X2
Android: 2.3.6
Baseband: N_03..13.56P
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-00011-gbc368b9 [email protected] #2
Build Number: 45.0.43
ERI: Version 5
PRL: Version 21100
My Phone number: 000-000-5761 (obviously not correct)
MIN: 0000005761
MEID: A000002C5D4811
Network: nTelos (I have no idea where that network even is)
Signal Strength: -101dBm 0 asu
Mobile network type: CDMA -1xRTT
Service State: In Service
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
I tried again to root my phone to try to put a custom rom on it, but when I try the moto-fastboot method upon entering the command thru abd shell /preinstall/su I get the error "Permission Denied". I have tried the superoneclick method, Pete's method, z4 root, and droid 3 easy root. I am at quite a loss here on what to do next.
Does anyone know of a way I could maybe use the default android recovery to install the proper rom for my phone and where to get the proper rom?
Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get the proper sbf file for the CSpire Motorolla Milestone X2?
I have been searching for a few days, so please don't get mad if I have overlooked a thread. I was very hesitant about posting this thread because I am not a very active member of your forums and I wanted to make sure I searched a lot before asking the same question over again.
I am not saying the problem I am having is completely unique, but I have not seen anyone with my problem. Since my phone is currently useless as a phone I am willing to try a lot more methods.
Update: I have successfully rooted my phone again using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1823112
Given that I now have root access are there any new options to get my phone to work?
How to change you system number
I have some more updates on my current status. I have received a warranty phone. I will not mail it for a few more days, so if anyone can inform me on how to pull some import files from it for their personal use I will . It is rooted now using the method mentioned above. Upon activating the phone with a rep from the company I got some more possibly useful information. I hope this helps others.
I haven't seen this anywhere, but if you need to change you system phone number do the following:
1. dial ##626 press call
2. enter 000000 for the SPC password
3. MIN is the number for your local network
4. IMSI will fill automatically
5. MDN is your personal phone number
6. CDMA system ID I have not information on this

Yoo I have the SAME EXACT ISSUE. How did you get your fixed??? I have tried everything and this seems impossible
Hi!, I'm new here i'd like to say thank you in advance.
Here is the story. My Uncle just brought me a Samung Stratosphere G4 Verizon(I'm out of the States). It came with a T-mobile miniSim, but it has network lock.
First it had the lastest update FF1,
When followed some tutorials, here and at XDA, and manage to flash it: this is the current Info:
Hardware Version: I405.05
Model: SCH-I405
Firmware: 2.3.5
Base band: I405.05.V.FF1
SCH-I405.FF1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7.EI2
Compilation: SCH-I405.EI2
IMEI: 99XXXXXXXXXXXX (So its working)
The phone is rooted, when i got to the efs folder y didnt find any nv_data.bin, so i found an application nv_datarepair so now it appears, and with some tools it said it unlocked.
But it still doesn't reconize any Sim. but before i do anything with him (flash or sim unlock) if in the dialer i type: *#06# it doesnt show anything, not even if i press the call button(it show network not available) and no code work there. since I got the phone and even now.
Do you have any idea?, I'm about to flash it again to an FF1 version I found here, but even I get to do it right I need to get the simunlock.
I hope I explained myself enought.
Again, thank you in advance. take care.
Edit: I just installed FF1, but it says it need activation, and I can't... I used TESTMODE, to bypass but ask on every reboot, I noticed that even if I buy an unlock code i won't be able to use it since no hash number can be used...
Edit 2: I managed to bypass activation with Titanium and/or editing build.prop, but now i know that I need to change something to make the phone global capable.
Is there any way to flash baseband to get the phone global?
Long story short: factory wiped phone, performed ESN swap, went to activate...no MEID or ESN. Verizon told me it's impossible to fix. I found several different CDMA tools and have managed to get DFS to work, kind of, except, it won't accept the default SPC code of 000000 so I can't unlock the device. I have been trying to figure out if the SPC code is something else or there is a way to reset or override it, but no luck so far since this is a Moto device and evidently they lock them down pretty good. Does anybody have any ideas? Every SPC method I have tried doesn't work for Moto devices.
I have tried:
1. CDMA Workshop
2. QXDM
3. DFS
3. getprop ril.MSL
Device was not rooted, until now. I rooted it with DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT hoping I wouldn't need an SPC code to program the MEID/ESN, but that wasn't the case.
A little help please?
System Version: 1.3.418
Android Version: 2.3.5

simplest anwser is we dont know. if no one has responded, they either havent seen the thread, or just dont know what your talkin about or how to fix it. id help but your beyond the scope of what i know and i wont ever have to deal with it since i go through a small local carrier. my suggestion is google search for other threads where theyve had simmilar issues and then post on the thread asking for general advice since you may have a different device or pm the people who have ideas on how to help and ask for some help from them if you dont get a useful answer from anyone here or through verizon.
Verizon says its impossible to fix....Tries to fix it anyway. lol.
I have never heard of anyone doing what you are trying to do. I have been around the DX2 threads for a while and never came across anyone in your position. I dont think you are going to get any answers here. Mainly because this forum is a ghost town now. Like you said, The DX2 is locked down good. So whatever you are trying to accomplish will most likely be very hard if not impossible.
