My guess is this is likely for the international version. For the ATT version I would suggest ICS will take 2-3 more months to arrive. ATT does not know the meaning of moving quickly.

Idk Samsung pushing for a global simultaneous release for the gs3 so heres hoping the lag between updates is only a few weeks

akjdhflskdjlskdjfls i want it asap!!!

I think we have to hope for CM9, tbh. Samsung is definitely making good progress on ICS for international Note and GS2, but these devices (AT&T Note and Skyrocket) are both gated by AT&T, and running completely different hardware. I had an Infuse for a while, which got gingerbread from AT&T at the end of January. Hopefully that is not indicative of the delay we'll see for ICS on the Note, but I'm not holding my breath--I have literally no faith in AT&T's ability to deliver updates in a timely manner.

Like Dave said, it's probably for the international version. Although my guess would be that you might be able to upgrade it anyway

That won't happen.. they have to clear the firmware through att first and I guarantee att doesn't even have it yet so a few months after they get it is what you should count on.

We will get ICS later down the road.

If you read it on the internet it has to be true

That's for the International Note. Completely different. Since they have the Exynos 1.4GHz processor, and we have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.5GHz processor, the ICS for the International Note will be mostly useless to us.
Coming from previous US Samsung phones on AT&T, we will be at least 3 months behind the international version due to the fact that our devices are carrier locked, therefore AT&T has to have its go at the device and add all of the bloatware to it. It definitely sucks, but it's something we have to deal with.
Hopefully somebody can pull some ish with our Notes like LinuxBozo did for the Infuse with his HellRaiser program. If not, we are at the will of AT&T.

[Q] Verizon's S3- can it be rooted?

Looked through quite a few pages and haven't seen this asked. Unfortunately I can't put up with the call problems of the Gnex. I just use my phone too much for work. Was considering getting the s 3 under warranty replacement if they allow it. Does anyone know if can be rooted and unlocked?

Genius in the house. I can't even count the number of time a device has been rooted before available. The international S3 was one of them.

Good luck getting the S3 as a warranty replacement because its not going to happen, the phone hasn't been released no one has one to mess with or anything so as of now it is unknown. If it was rooted I'm sure it would have been posted already all over different forums

Yeah guys/girls at Verizon stores are stupider than my door knob, example went in to the store today to get a 4G LTE sim card for my thunderbolt that's been sitting in my night stand and now my sister wants to use and the lady and guy both working said that not only I needed to bring the device in but now there's a fee for the sim card :what:
I attempted to get the S3 as a replacement and from my understanding the only way it would be possible is if there was a certified like new device available.

Hmmm... I have a cracked screen and was thinking of using my insurance anyways. I wonder if I bring it in brand new and never even been taken out of the box if they would replace it that way? One could argue it's close to being the same phone to someone who doesn't really know the difference

First of all, the phone has already been released in Europe and parts of Asia for some time. Second, a while back somebody leaked the official samsung software rom for the S3, and hackers made quick work of it and had a root method within a day (http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/05/samsung-galaxy-s3-rooted-stock-rom-leaked/). If you google "samsung s3 root" you will find lots of pages telling you how to root. Here's one example of such a site: http://theunlockr.com/2012/05/26/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s3-smartphone/
I know people are saying that you cannot get a S3 as a replacement but in my situation they did give me an early upgrade to a RAZR Maxx. I had to pay 200 for it but I at least got a phone with good signal. I asked about the S3 as an option and the csr said I could if I was willing to wait. I had another upgrade coming so I had already preordered the S3. My wife is getting the RAZR MAXX and she is thrilled.

Its a samsung so 99% Yes, Though give it a few weeks, it'll be up to 100% and then mmmm aokp
from what i've heard all of us in north america (canada, America, will get the exact slab of hardware, Also at&t's source was just released tonight so sit tight maybe by the end of this week its gonna be rooted!)
Here is proof that phones get rooted before release all the time. ATT, Sprint, and T-Mobile S3s' all have been rooted before anyone has the phone. I'm sure that Verizon's is just around the corner.

HTC Support: ICS @ End of July

Link
Be skeptical of course, since this is coming from a support email instead of an official statement by HTC.
I just love how HTC completely gives everyone the run around. We were supposed to have ICS months ago. Thank god the devs were able to give us awesome stable ICS roms literally months before this OTA.

I wouldn't blame it entirely on HTC. No way was Vzw about to let an HTC device get an ICS update before the RAZR.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
Yeah, my blame should have been toward Verizon mostly. I really do hate Verizon between forcing us off our grandfathered plans, loading their phones with bloat and delaying updates.
I'm most likely waiting till the new iPhone and new Nexus devices come out (later this year most likely) and then buy one outright and hand my phone to my mother so we can stay on unlimited data. Nexus because of AOSP, iPhone because Apple usually gets what Apple wants and doesn't let the carriers load their phones with rubbish (Same with the nexus).

Exactly. Also they wouldnt let it get ICS before the HTC Incredible 4G LTE came out. That is their new top of the line HTC phone they sell. If the Rezound had ICS it would be more desirable than it because of the HD screen.

Then I would get an iPhone. I'm waiting for both to drop before I make my decision. I'm either going to end up with a no fooling around Nexus that does not come preloaded with VZNavigator, Golf, NFS, Blockbuster and whatever other guff Verizon chooses to put on the device or an iPhone.
Highly doubt Verizon will want the next Nexus considering it stands against everything they stand for and they dragged their feet with the GNex.

Try telling that to AT&T's support people. I have a co-worker who has been dealing with them for a week because they dropped her data plan when she got a Galaxy Nexus (unlocked) to replace her Atrix which got stolen. Their system doesn't recognize the phone, so it apparently refuses to let them set it up with a smartphone data plan. I told her she should try going into the store and see if they can fix it (and refuse to leave until it is).
I ran into something similar when I was with them a couple of years ago. I bought an unlocked Nokia E63 (technically a smartphone), but their system insisted on letting me keep my $30 unlimited data + text plan at the time, instead of making me upgrade to more expensive separate data and text messaging plans. I'm guessing in order to force people who get smartphones onto smartphone plans, they have to program their billing system to know which phones are considered smartphones. If you bring your own device, it throws a monkey wrench into that process. The US carriers take a good idea (portability, which is inherent in the way GSM works) and completely screw it up.

When the Rezound came out, HTC announced that the Rezound would one of the first phones to receive ICS in I believe January or February. That was later changed to Mayish and then changed to July. Granted this is likely Verizon's fault but its still unfortunate that HTC has to bend to Verizon's will when Google and Apple basically say **** you to them which is why I'm likely going to either the iPhone or next Nexus depending on which hardware is more enticing.

Trade my GSM galaxy nexus for a galaxy note. What's your opinion?

I am interested in trading my nexus for an unlocked note. I plan on using T-mobiles 4g on the note. The GPS is horrible on my nexus and the reason Im trading for the note is because I've read that it is great with gps. That's pretty much the only reason. What are your opinions, how is GPS on ur note? Let me know everything that u think. And I do plan on rooting the note.
Edit : I plan on running cm7 due to the responses here. I've read that it does great when it comes to GPS but I understand that its a hit or miss when it comes to GPS

After the ICS update I can't get a hard lock without wifi on... Really sucks and there are a few more peeps with the same issue. It definitely was a winner with GB, but with ICS it's not (though I'm running stock ICS). If the price is right I say go for it, maybe you'll have better luck with Tmob 4G than I'm having with ATT LTE.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, there are several of us who would be greatly appreciative.

Anything right now about this is just pure speculation.
Right now it is thought they are pretty much identical to Sprint / AT&T models, except for maybe multi-window feature. It seems like there are updates that have been rolled out/will soon be available by carrier and a modified ROM that is supposedly going to be released on XDA that has the feature.
only known difference is home button branding on verizon only.

I thought the leads on the Sprint version were covered up by something.
There are some different pre-installed apps on the various carrier branded versions. Hardware is the same as far as I know, minus possibly the battery. I think carriers may also offer slightly different color variations as well, similar to the SGS3. For the most part though, Samsung has stopped making 400 different configurations of one phone and are making one phone and just changing the software around for the various carriers instead.
I'm curious if the Verizon version will be quad-core.

There's no need to be curious. It is quad-core.
Hardware will only be different in color/branding, and any changes to the radio chips/firmware so they work with VZWs network. Other than that, all devices should be the same from a hardware standpoint. Software is where most of the differences will be, but most of the stuff should be the same as well, with only a handful of carrier specific apps being different.

Samsung Music Hub is part of the features of Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) Check out Samsung support site for Verizon version. The site doesn't mention NFC, but Samsung's support page for T-Mobile's Note 2 doesn't show NFC either even when that device has NFC. The NFC is part of Samsung Music Hub so you can "beam" music. So I take that Samsung Galaxy Note II (Verizon) as having NFC. And yes, the support site does confirm the S Beam.
