Here's the modified default.xml from "/system/customize/CID", just replace the original default.xml with this via root explorer, and do a factory reset,
yes, you have to otherwise the chinese input options won't show up.

Froyd HTC_IME

Hi, i dont like the themed HTC_IME which comes with 1.3.0, which version of HTC_IME am i supposed to replace it with? If i use the hi-res one the keyboard is too big to fit the screen and the low res one FC when i try to use it.
Oh...and also how do i remove the japanese keyboard? i cant seem to be able to find it in /system/app. and does anyone know a good chinese keyboard that works with froyo, or even a working HTC_CIME for froyo?
thanks!
You need to uninstall the old HTC_IME before adding the new one (low res froyo version).
There are various versions of HTC_CIME - i've no idea whether they work on froyo.
By uninstall you mean just removing it from the /system/app folder yea? cause i cant uninstall it from the phone's package manager.

When you place the new HTC_IME file on your sd and run it using a file manager it should say it is already installed and ask you to uninstall it. This is the proper way to do it, in this case.
i tried this method but when i uninstall it says the uninstall was unsuccessful? i've tried so many times to install another themed HTC_IME but none of them work
I'll try to do this on mine tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

Please Help no launcher

Someone help me.I install launcher pro but uninstall LG home.So now i have made factory reset and problem --NO Launcher i can't use my phone NO access to market to download any launcher ---noting.Phone is working but no interface only status bar.10x to everione who can help.
You need to go to recovery and copy back the launcher to system/apps via adb.
Or just flash a custom ROM.
Cheers
But i'm new with android how to get into recovery.10x for replay.
There is a simple solution to this problem. Switch on your mobile and press search button. Search box will appear and you can type the name of default 2.2 file explorer in the search box. Via file explorer you can go to your SD card and install any launcher.
You can do a lot of things from the search box. You can even type 'gmail' and gmail app will appear and you can configure your gmail account and then type market in search box to access market. Try playing with the search button.
Thank you very much i'm ok now

Make sure you place the .apk in the correct location. /system/app, then reboot. That should do it.

yeah, i put the .apk in /system/app/ by using root explorer, i also changed permission successfully. i reboot by using adb reboot
can't understand why it doesn't work
at http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-alternate-keyboard-apps-on-nook-tablet-how-to/, they say i need gapps installed, but i only installed google play store, googleservicesframework,... (just some gapps, not all)
would that be the reason?
I'm confused? I just installed Hacker just using the install process. No, doing any of the above stuff. Now I've got a choice of keyboards to use.

The workaround install process is only on the stock ROM. Other ROMs don't have this issue.

[Q] Market wan't show some apps on custom rom

Hello. I installed cyanogenmod 10.2 on my samsung galaxy s3 and asus tf101g, and it looks like both of them have one problem with apps showing in play store.
For example I have buyed Mantano Reader Premium and it's showing on "All" section, I can install it and it'll work, but it wan't show in "installed" section, so i'm not getting any update notifications or such. I tried to restore market links with Titanium backup, but it did nothing. In fact, i think the links are ok, because it was installed from market. App reinstall obviously not helping too.
Searching solutions i got some varians:
1) Use Market Helper by Jummy: com.jrummy.apps.google.play.api
Didn't help. I tryed to delete market cache and data, modify device properties in Market helper and reopen market. Nothing helped
2) Modify build.prop and set ro.build.fingerprint to some "good' value.
Didn't help. Actually i found that cyanogenmod already have some value from samsung s3 stock rom, and I also tried to modify it to something from other devices, remove data and cache from market and restart device. Also got nothing.
So, is there any good solution? What exactly is restricted:
- Device name?
- Android version?
- Region?
How I can find and fix that?
For example here is some affected applications:
- Facebook
- Mantano reader premium
- Whats app
They appears in "all" tab, u can install, but it wan't came on "installed". Wan't appear in search also.
I'm using market 4.4.21.
Thanks for helping.

Google now activation for any country! (google location reporting not available fix)

THIS IS THE EASIEST SOLUTION FOR ACTIVATING GOOGLE NOW AND GOOGLE MAP NAVIGATION FOR THE COUNTRIES THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE!
Check here if your country is already listed, if not then this is for you!
There are many countries like Bangladesh, India, Nepal and others, where Google now cannot be activated. The only reason begind this is google location reporting not available in this region As we see here Location in Google Settings Help center where it says
Location Reporting is a per-device setting and can potentially use a lot of data. We recommend that you review your data plan before using this feature. If Location Reporting is not available in your region, it’s automatically turned off for that device.

So, I searched and searched everywhere for a solution which didnt seem much impossible but actually there is no workbale solution found on the internet with those fake GPS blah blah!
So, I luckily found a solution myself which only will work on rooted device but will work like a charm!
Just install MARKET UNLOCKER from here
Open and enable unlocker
Slide to the left tab "Market" and select Russian MTK
Exit and reboot
Open playstore check if store is working with your new location host
If not then...
1. You’ll need Root Explorer
2. Set the file system to Mount r/w then navigate from the Root to System/etc.
3. Locate the “hosts” file (no extension) and delete the file
4. Reboot!
And now you open the Gnow and it will ask you to join Google now and you say I am in!
Another Method
isn't there another method for non-rooted devices?
Worked
Tanx man,
it worked on android L. There is no Russian MTK, I used other.

I am from China and I also want to use Google Now,how can I do ? PS: Google service is not available in China
Sent from my XT912 using XDA Free mobile app
This might be the easiest way
to enable location reporting and activate google now by using one APP
https://github.com/GhostFlying/LocationReportEnabler
google map navigation does not work
It worked well for activating G-Now. Thanks.

Yes, factory reset your device without the SIM in, don' turn connect to WiFi and disable location. From there install a VPN (you can download one off a PC and put it on your phone. Then connect to WiFi and your VPN (Opera VPN works best for me) and then login to google. You might require a verification text to your Google account so have a brick/spare phone with your SIM inserted ready. Once logging in, it will prompt you to enable Google Now.
Once done disconnect from the VPN, put your SIM back in and reboot.
:good:
