Difference between hacksung build 6 and the ics gummy? - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What is the difference between the 2 roms Which is better and why? I'm running build 6 flawlessly with everything working and I see people taking about the ics gummy so I was wondering what that's all about
Thanks!

Everybody has thier own opinion on whats best. Fassygummy and aokp have more options for customizing things. Read the op's in the dev section that stuff is explained there.

The customization options in AOKP are nice, and they are not available in THS. You have a bit more control over the look, feel and operation of the ROM. And I can't get myself to say "fassygummy" without snickering...my 3 year old takes vitagummys everyday So that was my completely "objective" decision making process when looking at the 3, FWIW.
Like droidstyle said, everyone has their own opinion...try them and see which one works best for you. I tried THS and AOKP before sticking with AOKP simply based on the customization options.

The Base build of Gummy i am almost sure it is THS build 6
then from the Gummy OP this is what they added:
AOSP build based on 4.0.3 complied by Kejar31
Performance Settings - Credit CM / Jrummy16 / Kejar31
GUI manageable init.d scripts tweaks - Credit Jrummy16 / Kejar31
Customisable SystemU tweaks - credit Xoomdev / Syaoran12 / Kejar31
Battery % always available in the lockscreen (now with the option to turn on and off) - Credit Syaoran12
Faster rotation initiation - Credit XoomDev / Kejar31
T9 Dialer - Credit CM
Quad Lockscreen with open customizable seats
Customizable battery icons options ( Hide, miui, stock, fat battery with %, side bar with % and circle)
Modified Trebuchet - credit CM
Pulldown Widgets - credit Syaoran12 / LTE toggle credit - CM (notice it may take a min two for your phone to make the transisiton)
OI FileManager (compiled with the ICS SDK)
FaceBook contact sync - Credit Roman <- Yes it works
Softkey Mod and settings - Credit XoomDev / Icons - WJD Designs
Busybox
Su and Superuser apk - Credit ChainsDD
Stk
Livewallpapers compiled and included
All png's are optimized during build via CM script and PNG Crunch
Your welcome!

FassyGummy and AOKP definitely have more options than THS but, I can't get the wifi bug to stop acting up. I'm sticking with THS 6.0 till wifi issues are addressed. Phone is running awesome. Also the 4 button lock screen is great !

MTD in call volume settings tip
TSM parts tips (how to swim).
1. Any toggle can be long pressed in pulldown to go directly to that toggle's settings menu.
2. Up to 4 apps can be added to the "custom" app icon on the "unlock rings" lockscreen.
menu/tsm parts/lockscreen settings. ensure that you are using the "rings" lockscreen and that "enable custom app" is checked.
tick custom app and choose app. tick custom app again and choose add and repeat process till 4 apps of your liking are chosen.
3. individual notifications can be dismissed in the pull down by swiping it left or right.
4. Long press back button to kill app is located in. menu/settings/applications/development and you will see option.
Special notes.
Some of the toggles in the pulldown will not refresh instantly when activated.
Upon first flash it doesn't hurt to go through all of the tsm options and toggle each one within tsm parts. This will ensure that all options being reported in tsm parts will match what rom is performing.

+1 love this ROM plus glitch. Nice to see support for it coming to xda welcome back to xda tsm. Its been awesome seeing gunnermikes themes coming back and now 2 roms and I'm assuming choppers themes for this are now in the themes section (haven't gotten over there yet today). you guys were definitely missed over here. Maybe now that this is on xda awareness of it will raise along with more themes. Chop can't do it all by himself themers lol. Anyways its just great to see you guys all coming back to xda recently!!
Edit: choppers themes aren't in the themes section here. But I hope they will be his ICS theme is very well done

Its the same. Date oversight.
good day.
Does this ROM have the same problem with the speaker phone that CM7 has? I don't know if this is a CM issue or MTD.
is it possible to get the theme engine from cm7 to work on this?
camera doesn't shoot any video, just stucks at zeros and nothing happens.... any ideas?
(flashed full odin ed05, cwm4, this rom +gapps)
Between this and resurrection tsm definitely owns custom roms on the fascinate no matter if you favor touchwiz or mtd aosp. Good work guys; no longer a rootzwiki exclusive! (Did the good sir jt1134 approve of the xda posting?

Sorry, should've mentioned in the OP, this includes the TW camera but the TW camcorder does not work....yet. If you need a camcorder you can side load the aosp camera in /data/apps (not in SYstem).
I have problems with the stock email app not letting the phone enter deep sleep. my cpu spy shows 200 step is running about 87% of the time on average and deep sleep on average has about 3% min tops. Battery history in tsm parts shows email is 2ND to display at 30%. I will try a 3rd party email app for now but any suggestion on why stock email won't let my phone enter deep sleep?

Ideas for kernels and ROMs

Separating posts from the other threads. I want them in here.
Post what you want in a kernel and what you want in a ROM, what kind of ROM, etc.
Let's keep this clean so Devs can see what we want and see if they can do it!
For the kernel Devs: We have part of the kernel source BUT not all of it. We do not have the WiFi driver source as HTC will not release it. This is the complicated part as far as I know of. I bet you guys are one hell of a dev and can do it.
For everyone else: Post what you want like this so it is nice and easy.
Example:
ROM:
- Power Menu
- Debloated
- Sense 4.0 Theme
- etc
- etc
Kernel:
- Overclockable
- For ICS
- Undervolted
- etc
- etc
That makes it easier to read and not look smashed up.
Let's try and make this easy and pleasant for those who wish to help us!
Ok, so...
A perfect Rom for me:
- Fully working sense 4
- Full beats audio and dsp manager
- Advanced power menu
Oh and something like leedroid tweaks
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
perfect for me: lets get CM9 fully functional! wifi, camera, bluetooth, nfc, and GSM are not working as of yet, right? couldn't the first step be there and then work our way up to the Sense ROMs?
ROM:
- Advanced Power Menu
- Notification bar toggles (like CM7 or MIUI)
- Unified Apps (i.e. Sense, AOSP, MIUI)
- Tweaks app
- Accurate battery icon
- Multiple lockscreens
- Stock or themed option
- Tweaked and optimized thoroughly
- Bloat removed
- Carrier IQ absent
- Lockscreen supports music controls for google music/pandora
- Sweet custom boot animation =P
Kernel:
- Optimized governors
- Optional capacitive light notification
- Optional backlight notification
- Optimized for battery life and performance
- GPU optimization for performance

The problem with some requests(like above for a rom) is that they list features included in cm9 or aokp, and a dev isn't going to spend countless hours doing that if it will be automatically replaced once cm9 is working(and it WILL be working).. so I suggest that people ask for features that are NOT specific to cm9/aokp/miui - because when any of those are successfully ported then those requests are fulfilled.
As far as kernel tweaks go, how about any/all of the tweaks that were implemented in faux's latest kernel? Seems like a pretty complete list of awesomeness there.. I doubt anyone here is going to suggest something that isn't already on that list, so a kernel dev just has to decide what is possible. And they will know best what they are capable of.

I agree with both of your suggestions. One thing, though. Whether we can have a fully working cm9 or not kind of depends on whether we can have a fully compatible kernel, I think. Even for custom roms to be more flexible and powerful (i.e. not just de-bloated, tweaked, or themed), we need more powers and features borrowed from Linux, or at least, a kernel that would allow devs to work on.
So the top priority for us now is to get all the kernel source codes for ICS from HTC. Without it, we can't go too far. Or am I missing something? Let's all sign the petition (it's somewhere in this forum).

I couldn't agree more - but I'm pretty sure we are going to have the source soon enough.. keep checking http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads for it. I mean I remember seeing sensation get their source after they got their ICS.. the official update just came out, perhaps they want to make sure there are no major issues before they release the source?
But still, YES.. we need kernel work more than anything else I think. It won't magically make everything else easy, but it will make it less impossible
EDIT: So I thought I would share this cool website.. check this out https://www.changedetection.com/log/htcdev/downloads2_log.html?emsg=1001(this page shows what changes were made to the htcdev address above) you can set it up so that it will e-mail you when there are changes to a website, or in my case - when they add the word "amaze" to http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads it will e-mail me.. so far there is only 1 other person watching that page for an update.. so I should be the first to know when our kernel source gets posted!
Very useful website, thought I would share! You could have it email you when a dev edits the OP of a rom they released, or if there is a website that gives special deals(have it look for a specific word on that page), or if/when max krivonos ever updates his cm9 for the amaze post on google+(he hasn't since I started checking)..
but theres already a kernel source code on that website for the Amaze. so we're waiting for something more?

We need it for ICS(android version 4.0), and it should be kernel 3.0.16 instead of 2.something - what is on there is for gingerbread, and just having a kernel of 3+ means a lot more features.. source means that could be easily made into something better
and then that would help with getting CM9 fully functional? or at least thats the hope? lol
anybody know if the petition has been sent to HTC? maybe 500 signatures is enough for them to do something?
May have another new dev to help us!

Pretty good for me, better than when I was using stock based ROMs. Battery life is one of those things that varies by user and usage.
Running for a coupe of hours. Everything is great so far!
I'm truly thankful that there are still new ROMs being created for this device. That being said, this is a great ROM!! Flawless so far.
One question, with the built in LED control for notifications, is there any way to not get screwed up colors? All I'm trying to get is the stock green. Just plain old green. Also, I know there are apps that can do this, but I prefer to use the built in utility if possible.

You'll have to play with it to get the color. Most of mine are off to, but tweaking long enough you can eventually get it.

I believe you need the exact hex color for green. From what I understand, if the hex is even slightly off, the led light will be messed up.

Installation
You have to have been on offical stock OTA 4.1.2 or LGNPST
Do a backup
Wipe: data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik (opt. wipe system and internal sd)
Flash Beanstalk
Flash GApps http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip
wipe cache and dalvik again before rebooting system
reboot
Bugs!
Since this ROM is built using Teamlgog's device, vendor, and kernel source the same bugs that are found on shel's cm10.1 will more than likely be found here. Ex. USB tethering is not working at the moment.
No more call bug
EDIT: USB Tethering is fixed!!
All builds prior to the 7/26 milestone 1b release may or may not have the Xposed Installer soft reboot boot loop bug ((((ONLY USE REBOOT))). Thanks to dandrumheller for catching this.
Source Used!

https://github.com/scotthartbti
Optional Kernels
The ROM is built using TeamLGOG's geem kernel which is a simple but stable kernel. If you want more control and options I would recommend using these kernels, remember all credit goes to the devs of these kernels.

Important Information!! Please Read!!
I'm in no shape or form a programmer and all bugs that you encounter will more than likely be fixed by those that are. I will however try my best to make it an enjoyable and up to date experience and try to update this rom on a regular basis when bug fixes are released. All donations should go to the real devs, I'm just a noob that got lucky building lol! Also I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.........like any other rom, flash and play at your own risk!!!!

Beanstalk 4.3.05 8/23 Update
Here is a new update for you guys, everything that applied in the last release with xposed still applies here. Either flash the superSU zip or the xposed installer zip to get xposed to work. The main difference will be a updated kernel thanks to dvhexer for his awesome work on bringing the faux123 kernel to our device and having it run so smooooth. Other than it's pretty much cm-10.2 updates and bug fixes.

HALO overhaul.. looks similar, but code has been updated... again. (thanks pa)
Optimized images (thanks vanir)
Option for floating quicksetting windows
Optional encryption password sync
Enhancements for app ops
updated BS battery icons.. looks crisper (Thanks skyliner)
Fixed blacklist support
Crazy amount of fixes/improvements/cleanup build wide.
Tested that it boots but not much more than that, which was stated in my previous post from last night, on my way out for work so have fun!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TEST BUILD 8/19
This is a test build which seems to have fixed the need for flashing superSU, also this release is based on another cm10.2 branch and kernel from dvhexer (kernel is completely stock with no underclocked freqs or lcd color control). This release doesn't need the hybrid modem to get the carrier label to show AT&T and not maritime, the camera seems to be a little more stable and doesn't freeze(auto focus still needs some work).
download link: http://d-h.st/Xk3
I will more than likely revert kernels in the next release but for now this what it's going to be, it's late and I need sleep lol! enjoy and be sure to post your bugs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.3 is here!!!!!!
for those out there that wanna do a little testing here is beanstalk 4.3/ android 4.3!!
this rom is using dvhexer's device, vendor, and kernel tree along with scott.hart.bti's beanstalk so all cred goes to them!
there will be bugs since this 4.3 so don't expect fully bug free this soon in the game, if you want stable stick with 7/26
Now thats over with lets get to the good stuff and the important to know stuff:
1---superSU zip is needed for the rom to work properly like some 4.3 roms out there, zip can be found here
2---- camera can be a little funky at times but from what i've seen it can be solved with the hybrid modem which i'll let you guys do your own search and judgement on.
3---- use these gapps which is recommended by beanstalk dev.
4----- the rom(almost forgot must be the vodka and beer lol!!!!) beanstalk 4.3!!!!!
this should truely be considered a alpha/benchmark release so don't expect excellence just yet, but do feel free to test it out

This ROM is based on the Android Open Kang Project (AOKP). The idea to start a ROM based off AOKP with added features for us was started out of curiosity and boredom. We started compiling ROMs for personal use and later started sharing them. After sharing it with a few people, we decided to take it a step further and fine tune the way we do things. Since then, is been nothing but fun and a true learning experience for all of us involved. We've received high praise from not only users but fellow developers of other ROMs that enjoy seeing things done the right way. Our 4.2.2 version made it onto various devices to include the HTC One, Galaxy Nexus, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO LTE, Nexus 4 and some other devices. We hope to do the same with our 4.3 version.
Like stated above, neither myself or Team D.I.R.T. take credit for the original code used in this ROM. However I would also like to give credit and thanks to other individuals that have helped contribute to this ROM.
The names below are in no specific order, if I have left your name out....please PM me and I will gladly correct my error.

Great Work!
Downloading now and will try it out. Thanks for your efforts.
Very sweet. Will download and give it a shot. ^__^
Thanks, I might give this a try, looks interesting. Glad to see more developers noticing us here in the LTE Section.
This rom is absolutely fantastic...runs smooth...no FC's..and great options to personalize.
Only needed to add Xposed instaler because I didn't find an option to increase default dpi for some app's
many thanks for your work
Is there any option to adjust complete UI dpi,
Rom is really quick thus far, and level of customisations is awesome.

I actually changed DPI in the build prop to 213. I believe there is an app to do the same thing in the play store. Previous versions of dirty unicorns had paranoid preferences to change DPI and I believe this is being looked at for newer versions.
I haven't tried xposed installer but another good option.

I really hope you guys include this, it's an amazing feature by Paranoid Android.
tried out the rom, and i sort of love it
just missing 1 thing.
- the initial setup, where you input the google play account, wifi, etc.
and have a feature request for 3 things
1) paranoid preferences, not really missing it, but seeing how much options you have similar to some other roms, it shouldn't be that hard to integrate
2) the new pac (don't know if they took ik from paranoid) "gestures anywhere", it would be an extremely awesome feature to add to your rom as not many other roms have it (only saw it on pac/probam so far)
3) make the boot animation a bit slower, due to the speed the text above dirty unicorn is unreadable
otherwise, it worked like a charm, haven't tested it that long, maybe 10 or 15 min as i still had to figure out a way to change the dpi, but i saw the post about texdroider dpi a short while ago so gonna flash it again today
edit: one quick question, is there a way to disable/change that mouse cursor when i hover my s pen above the screen?
can use lbe app 。。。。。。。?

Appreciate the feedback. As this is a port I will pass all your comments through to the g+ community https://plus.google.com/communities/109738128866939227235 and see what the team can do. In regards to the pen I never use mine and didn't even know it did that. The boot animation I should be able to fix though.
Once you flash gapps as soon as you open play store it takes you to set up your Google account?
The good news I've finally pulled my finger out and downloaded the source so hopefully I can get you guys an official build

its not a big deal, honestly, but normally after flashing you get a one time setup wizard guiding you through the playstore setup and the wifi and such
now i have to open up the playstore, and go into settings seperately. As said not that much of a big deal but if the wizard could be implemented it would be a nice addition , also, don't know if its just me, but the options i get when adding an account in the playstore are "backup" and "newsletter" while on other roms i have a bit more options to check/uncheck (like restore and such), i know screenshots would be better, but don't really feel like flashing 2 seperate roms freshly right now just to make a screenshot
Just a small other question about the playstore, did something change it rom-wise or did google change it themselves, as i used to have to use the menu button to access "my apps" and now its a button next to the search button

Unfortunately trebuchet only has home screen grid size. I set the overall DPI to 213 which is why the icons are so small and close together. I think the norm is 320 dpi for the note. Best bet is to download texdroider DPI from play store and increase dpi which will make the icons bigger and clearer. On the next update I will change the dpi up a bit
Hopefully we will get per app settings soon to solve this.

I know what you mean about the setup. Not to sure what's involved in implementing but will ask some questions.
I think Google changed play store with the latest 4.3 update

Unfortunately trebuchet only has home screen grid size. I set the overall DPI to 213 which is why the icons are so small and close together. I think the norm is 320 dpi for the note. Best bet is to download texdroider DPI from play store and increase dpi which will make the icons bigger and clearer. On the next update I will change the dpi up a bit
Hopefully we will get per app settings soon to solve this.

i don't know what dpi pac/probam/slimbean use but those have it exactly right, not too small and not too big shall make a backup of this rom tonight and flash back one of those to see what they use, but i think they use 225 or 230 or something near those numbers
@scouse83
get nova launcher to change the grid size and such, nova has more options than trebuchet has. for the dpi i've downloaded texdroider dpi from the playstore and set mine to 265, its a bit big, but i have a bit more time tonight at home to tinker with it so mine will go down a bit more (as 213 is quite small )
320 is the normal default touchwiz dpi iirc, but that is just way too big for my taste
Rom is very smooth and fast. It was a little weird to not have a set up wizard at the start, I first thought I had done something wrong, but Everything was all good once I set up my accounts. I got 4G almost straight away. Battery life was also very good. I flashed just before going to work at 7.30am and by 5.30pm and playing around with it on my break, setting up and having 4G on all day I was only down to 60%. So no complaints there.
A plethora of options were very nice to play with. One thing I did miss from other Roms was the Quick Peek function when on Full Screen mode. I always found that useful since I don't use PIE.
Only a couple of things I thought were worth mentioning. The S-pen at times lost all functionality. It wouldn't register on the screen at all. A reboot fixes this though. Also I found that the phone was running rather warm most of the time. Most Roms I've run even with 4G on all the time are around the 27-30 degree mark. I found this Rom to run at around 32-37 degrees as a norm. Stock Kernel though. Might try flashing another kernel and see if that changes things.
Apart from that, very nice work. Very slick. And very dirty.
