Not sure if we have had one of these yet, but i would love to hear from the people who got a proper (or close to proper) prime.
Has it lived up to your expectations? Whats your fave thing about it? was it worth your green backs?

good thing you are here to tell them which threads to close.. man thanks for the great posts.
IMO this thread is needed - so much negativity about the prime elsewhere and nobody's coming on to tell us any good experiences. Makes me want to cancel my pre-order.

agree.. i love my prime.. its the best android tablet out there right now. the build is the best out of any tablet.
the honeycomb bugs are still there, they are 10x better with the quad core and less noticeable. all comes down to ICS.
if was to sit in my closet with the lights off while my tab boots i could see a light bleed, good thing i don't use my tablet ever in the closet with my lights off. so i'm good with that.
Had the original Transformer as well as a whole host of other tablets. I still say this concept of the detachable hard dock is the most productive I've ever had. The added battery life and a mouse make it feel like an honest laptop replacement. In terms of comparing the new and old Prime, the new one has some obvious advantages in terms of size I really like the weight of it. I do agree with those who said it is a little harder to hold, the metal makes it a little more slick. When I have been using it as a reading tablet for a period of time it does matter
Flaws... well, my GPS doesn't work. I don't know that I care, but since I paid for it I want it to work. Since I have the Galaxy Nexus I realy like ICS, so I hope like hell we get it soon. THe camera facing you isn't great, but oh well. And docked it is definately top heavy and prone to tip. They should have distributed the weight a little more evenly.
Do I like it a lot? Yes! Do I love it? Not yet, but I have a feeling I will
Finally got mine and so far, I'm loving it. Love the weight. Zippy, no lag. GPS doesn't work, but I'm not terribly concerned with that at the moment. Everyone here at work is Ohhh-ing and Ahhh-ing.
My biggest gripe right now is that "everything" seems to be backordered. Waiting for a case and the dock.

Here is a thread created a few days ago called "The Positive TP Thread". It's basically the same thing as this one. You can go there and read some more of people's positives about it.

This can go both ways as well though, positive or negative. More people tend to post negative stuff and not positive posts, because the positive people are playing with there TP and are to busy to post here . I don't own one yet, I am hoping today is the day though!

Yes, funny how some folks point out such things as "confirmation bias" only to... well... confirm their own negative bias. It's downright ironic.

I love everything about the TP. I've seen no lag whatsoever. The games look awesome. I plugged in the Hdmi cable and played shadowgun on my plasma tv and it looked great. The bluetooth controller from Gamestop is pretty slick also. I personally think it flies on the Internet. Page transitions are very fluid. I've read some negative comments about it's speaker but the one that it does have sounds great.

Agree. Let's all just ***** instead. Also, somebody posted this exact same link (and post) last week, as somebody else was trying to inject something positive into this den of negativity. I have to ask... Why pee on somebody's parade?
Mine is nearly flawless, and I am glad I made my purchase decision. The very few issues I have with it are due to apps stability.

that's not ironic, and I dont have any bias towards the Prime as I don't have mine yet (will by next Tuesday) so I can't judge the device negatively or positively.
But ever since I saw that word posted on this board I couldn't help but see how frequently many here are actively looking for information to fit their needs. Its an easy way to set yourself up for disappointment at worst, or be pleasantly surprised if underestimate it.

actually this thread doesn't. its more of the majority of negative threads/comments being thrown around lately. based on that definition from wiki. this tread is good and needed although there's a similar one called the positive transformer thread.
to the OP, I think from my various posts, lol, you can see that I love my device. it has been performing great and has no issues I've noticed, so far. this is way better than my Ipad all around. can't wait till developement starts, ICS, and more tegra3 games being released. this purchase was more than worth the money. I'm so glad that I didn't let the negativity, before and after release, deter me away from this device. especially since its performing so well for me right now. definitely is the best tablet out now, by far and will more than likely be that way for at least the next 4-6 months.

if you want a great volume boost to the already great sound get volume+. there's a thread on it in themes and apps section. I bit the bullet and got it last night. I confirmed the major increase in volume level with a decibel reader. it consistently showed increase in volume/decibels with speaker mod on. it ridiculous how much more louder and bass output this thing has now. and the sound was already great before. this just makes it even better. check out the thread.

You know what? That video is good as hell. I'm really amazed at how well put together it was. I loved seeing our section making cameos in there. Flame wars n everything. I loved it. After all that he was saying, this was his final statement:
I ALSO OWN A TRANSFORMER AND ITS THE BEST DEVICE IVE EVER HAD
Love it! That guy has to be a member here. It was also funny how he mentioned Greg n showed a pic of some guy lending a hand out..lmfao.
Thanks for sharing this op. I agree with his video. But I even agree more with the final statement he made. He's one of the good guys..lol. he told it like it is and still gave his honest opinion on him owning one and loving it.
good video!!!
Essentially this video should stop any and all additional flame/fanboy threads from starting. Fanboys have their points, so do the flamers.
So he makes transformer prime vids now. I miss gnote vids from him.

Well I hope that Asus is watching and fall in line and make it good. My prime works well after the last update but its still not 100% and well.....since I paid 100% of purchased price how about you help us out ASUS. thanks
Great job on the video.

Even if he would've said at the end he didn't like it, it wouldn't of detracted from the great video piece he put together. I really liked how the beginning started off. Hyping the Prime n Tegra3 all up. It was a real honest video/viewpoint. I agreed with it all. Can't wait to see part 2.

Lol..I just realized that...it was so funny when he showed that pic of a guy lending a hand.
I was wondering about the Greg thing too
When is he releasing his review "Part 2"?
Speaking strictly from an execution POV, it's better than the typical video rant, but not by much. The speaker could stand to speak much slower. His voice has no inflection; it's just a dead monotone, like he's speaking from a script (which he probably is).
The video collage sufficiently held eye contact for the 1st half. But the 2nd half degenerated into into a bunch of panning XDA posts and loses the viewer. Basically, the author ran out of interesting footage to show.
The main problem is that at 5min, it's too long. The author could've condense his rant into half the length, and his point would've been much better conveyed.
In video, as in many modes of expressions, less is more. Think about what you want to say, then say it in fewer words.
Incredibly well done. The creator's both talented and creative. I've seen professional work with far less polish and rhythm.
Some random comments:
1) The first 3/4s of the video did a good job of showcasing the trials of both Nvidia and Asus in getting the Prime to market including touching on some well documented Nvidia specific problems with Teg3.
2) In the last 1/4 of the video the creator mentions the TF300 and TF700 as possible/probable solutions for Asus to dig themselves out of the mess outlined in the first 3/4s. If that's the case, there's no bridge to the creator's conclusion at the end of the video or rationale for his continuing adoration other than the Prime's potential possibly outweighing his presentation of its reality. In the harsh light of the real world, potential has never trumped reality.
3) The creator hails the coming of a middle-level marketing manager as salvation which isn't realistic. A single manager at Asus or any other company can't solve issues, especially design and engineering issues, affecting potentially one million users if Asus hits its sales targets. If they could, it would be a lot cheaper just to eliminate Directors, VPs, SVPs, and EVPs and have a thousand Manager's report directly to the CEO.
4) In his closing, in spite of all that was revealed, the creator teases with "it's still the best device in the world" and watch the review to come in order to find out why. We know how that's going to end and will be focused (like most other reviews) on (a working) Prime's positive attributes. But using the creator's own well-presented logic, the TF700 will become "the best device in the world" upon its launch. No one on this forum disagrees that the Prime has the potential to live up to that lofty claim, but Asus' execution was poor at best (the creator’s description, not mine) and until that's resolved there's always going to be the struggle over the Prime's potential vs. its reality. At least for some percentage of users. A 300HP car that gets 40MPG in the city for $25K holds great potential. If it only randomly starts or each one produced varies anywhere between 10MPG and 50MPG I think we'd all agree, with reality setting in, the potential's pretty much irrelevant.
Once Asus releases the other two devices maybe the creator will produce a third and final segment. The ending of that could be happy and a tale of a manufacturer learning from its mistakes and overcoming them. Or it could be sad with the Prime quietly fading in to the sunset after the other two devices are launched never having been given a chance to achieve its full potential. It is way too early in the story for anyone to write the final chapter and that includes me, you, the creator of the video, and even Gary starring in the role of middle-level marketing manager.
No matter how anyone feels about the Prime, you have to admit its great entertainment.

In my opinion, that's one of the things I liked. The flat "here's how it is" narration suited the content and allowed listeners to focus on the material vs. the delivery. But "art" is even more subjective than the Prime.

Assuming it's executed well and Asus is making decent margin on it I think it’s brilliant. Based on the success of the HP TP ($99), BB PB ($199), and KF ($249) Asus offering a "big boy" 7" Market-capable tablet with a Teg3 SoC for $249 should be a huge success. But the risks lie in execution, performance, and marketing. I truly wish them well and hope they define a niche for themselves. But I don't see any 7" tablet really competing with high-end 9+" tablets. At least they haven't historically.
Hey guys, so this is just a little video I put together about the history of the prime!
I have a feeling that it should settle most of the flame wars. The bottom line is, although it is the best tablet out, I can't recommend it because of the "lottery" quality control asus has.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRVWjrbFwP0
Enjoy
Looking forward to part2
It's actually a very good and well done piece, IMHO.
It's good that this gets more mileage for Asus to really move its butt (not that they haven't, but they could do more).
You should have also mentioned the fact there still a lot of devices out there that exhibit none of the prevalent issues, as well as a lot of customers who are satisfied despite the issues (just to balance things a bit).
But, overall, as I've mentioned, it's a good piece.
Although it seems more than a few are wondering how Gary would feel about this Greg person you mentioned.

Sorry dude. I was searching for recent Asus Prime video. I don't have 1 yet but getting 1 soon. I wanted to share what I found because your video is right on to the point. A lot of people were hipped about this tablet but once they become owners all you read now is negative.
Update your first post when Review 2 is up. I'm hoping for in-depth review.
I liked the video, was right to the point and informative. I learned a lot about the Tegra 3 that I didn't know before. (I kinda jumped into the Prime without doing much research)
I haven't really had any issues w/ my Prime. GPS is weak compared with my Xoom, but works good enough. Wifi is also right on par w/ the Xoom. Been rooted and overclocked since I got it, and really its only shutoff once. (during a file transfer, kind of annoying)
Overall, its the best Android tablet I've used. (I've used quite a few)
Nice video. When can we expect PART 2 (full review)? Will Part 3 include the mods for WiFi and GPS?
Enjoyed your video. I'm really looking forward to Part 2.
Keep up the good work....

I agree. I understand the position that the people who wish to express their dissatisfaction with a product, or to compare it to another, would find this the appropriate forum for such discourse.
But seriously, stroll around some other halo device forums (albeit I concede the title of "halo product" is almost ironic with the Prime given the imminent TF701) and see if they're littered with crappy threads. For the most part? No, they're not. They're where people have discussions about their product that are beneficial for the community to read.

I completely agree. I posted something similar in the "Why I left my Prime " thread. I could care less why people leave their Prime or why they feel that the iPad is better. One comparison thread here and there is fine but people are starting this conversation in threads off topic or creating multiple thread topics. Enough already. If I wanted to know about the iPad, I'd go elsewhere or read reviews. I don't buy for an instant that the "former Prime" owners are doing this out of the kindness of their hearts to "inform" us. Again, I could care less and this is NOT why I come to a place like this. I come for community and for device specific advice and device specific software. Period. Seriously, don't these "former Prime " owners have something better to do? Apparently not. The iPad must not be that exciting and stellar of a device if they find the need to expend energy and time comparing it to another device which they recently left.

I think people are just butthurt that they don't have the best tablet anymore.
Well, some of the poster might just be trolls, trying to get a rise out of a situaion
Other might be real people with real grievance.
And the third group, would be paid professional "troll" by competator to slant or share false information to get more sale for their product.
As the TF prime is the flagship for the Nvidia Tegra 3 for the Android platform it's the #1 target for competitor.
Popular opinion to ban these posts permanently?

like seriously, if all they're going to post about is how they hate the transformer prime and want to return it, then return it and leave this forum. If they can't - then they should have considered that before buying it.

I think these TP forums are worst that I have ever seen here. Even the SGS2 forums didnt have this much crap talk about SGS2 vs. iPhone 4S.
I have just ordered my TP and was going to check the forums for something interesting to read. First page of this general section is about iPad or iOS. Dont they have their own forum to discuss about things or what the **** is this?
yeah not sure wtf is going on, I came from a xoom and those forums on here were filled with quality useful post. Not *****ing and whining from the same 15-20 people filling this whole forum up with bs. Plus you got people just coming in to troll because they don't get laid in the the real world.
To answer the OPs question, it's because the people who had real issues and posted about them offended the fanbois in here. So the fanbois started a whole bunch of retaliatory posts of why the Prime is so good and how the people with technical problems were just a bunch of whiners.
So now it's come back full circle to where the people who had problems with their Primes make posts and threads mocking the fanbois.
Solution? Ignore all the lame posts and let them sink down the drain into oblivion.

I feel bad for people that ASUS has mislead, truthfully. I loved my prime, I loved the design, the idea of everything about it. Then I got it, played with it, tested it and was extremely disappointed. The quality lacks, enough said.
The reason there is so much negativity is because the Prime, as a product, is lacking for something that if done right, could have been a game changer. The game changer is what everyone expected, is what ASUS advertised, and is what did not deliver. I had to sell mine, almost out of principle. I was very upset in doing so, it could've been so much more.

I thought that too, but I think what he is saying is that Apple people are upset they don't have the best tablet any more, not prime owners.

This is an example of someone with a bum unit and is upset... I have had mine 2 months now and wifi is fine screen is fine gps is weak but locks quick (not that i would use a 10.1 inch tablet in my car to navigate lol), if you don't have one anymore why are you in this forum anymore? Not everyone gets a bad device get over it.
I saw this link on youtube and posted it on here right away, couple days later the owner of the video posted in my thread. A big thanks to "Kornyone" for doing work so quick. You can follow his progress here:

That's pretty awesome. I'm just waiting for mine that I purchased on ebay to show up. I can't wait to see what else we can do!
Same here, I should have mine by Tuesday but I don't have a device with JellyBean so I hope they ship out the N7 soon!
congrats, can't wait.
I have two Qs I can't use. Don't have JB yet.
Very cool! Can't wait till I get mine from Ebay!

Sell them
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
looking good, I would be tempted to order one now if it wasn't so expensive, just cant justify the price and the last time I looked it wasnt available in the UK yet either.
I am hoping after the release the price will drop enough for me to be able to justify buying it.
good work! I am going to be monitoring the Nexus Q development to see if something ends up convincing me to buy it.

Ditto. That's what I am waiting for before I purchase it.
That's pretty awesome work. I can't wait for more people to get Q's and see what we can really do with them.
It's too bad they don't have a cablecard/tuner built in!
Ohhai!
I wrote up a page on this for everyone to consume. I recorded that video (kornf00 is my Youtube and backup IRC alias, I am kornyone).

*Edit* I touch on how to make this work in ICS client devices (phones/tablets) in that page. I did not attend IO, I do not own a Jelly Bean compatible device (yet).
This is awesome. The Nexus Q is like a Trojan Horse, except inside it's filled with sweet jelly beans. I can imagine using this with the Leap from leapmotion.com. Interacting with the Q using hand gestures... that would be cool.
