[Q] Factory Sounds missing/restore - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hi,
I have, in an effort to make the My Gallery app to play nice, reset the My Files app not realizing the would delete files. A bit odd behavior if you ask me as files has nothing to do with the app imo.
Anyway now I am missing all factory sounds and a factory reset is something I would like to avoid if possible.
So can I somehow extract the factory sounds from the reset image or can I download them from somewhere?
What are my options on a non-rooted razr? Can I somehow backup my apps and screen and phone settings so I can use the phone factory reset?
Any and all help is much appreciated...

Difference of hard reset?

Hi. I'd just like to know what the difference is between factory reset using the android settings menu and hard reset using the code *2767*3855# in the dialer?
The hard reset using the dialer will delete everything, any files added by yourself, from the phone and reset system settings So after that the phone and filesystem is totally clean and like stock.
The other way will just reset your system settings, apps and so on but leave your files in the filesystem.
At least that is what I experienced.
Thanks for the explaining. I noticed if I do a hard reset it installs test samsung music into the sd card after wiping it unlike when you don't use the dialer it just deletes it.

Big phone issue

Ok i thought i had this solved by flashing the newest sbf but nope. Here is the list, almost every morning i wake up these things are not workin on the phone:
Ringer sound ( phone is not in silent mode and volume is up all the way but no sound)
Notification sounds ( same as ringer, and when i try to change the sounds, when i am selecting from the options, none of the new sounds work either)
Camera ( force crashes)
Cam corder ( only able to shoot in vga mode, when i go to setting, the options for hd recording and widescreen photos are simply gone)
Mp3 do not work, phone says ir does not recognize the format
Vidoes dont playback, phone says it does not recognize the format
Alarm is silent, only vibrates
I can make calls, now a restart fixes this, but its simply annoying especially when my alarm rings and it silent
That would be annoying. Have you backtracked through installed apps to get an idea what may have happened or caused it? Flashing over existing problems won't do much.
Personally I'd just hard reset and be done with it.
How do you do a hard reset? Is it the same a factory reset?

Ya thru android recovery or settings, and should data on internal sd be deleted?

Try without wiping the card first; a simple reset should fix any runaway apps. If that doesn't work, wipe the card. You have nothing to lose at that point.
Make sure you back up anything important to you that might be stored on there though.
but isnt flashing a full sbf thru RSD lite the same thing? thats what i did before
I also thought the SBF wiped everything off the internal SD card? But I could be wrong.

It does not. It simply compares and overwrites as needed. I update via SBF and haven't lost my apps or media files. I do lose my system settings.
If you want, you can manually wipe the /data and /system partition and the SBF will restore everything.

[Q] No text appears during typing

Can anyone help with an infuriating text problem? When I start to type in any notepad app, although the cursor moves (sometimes to the right, often down a line or two or three first and then to the right) no text appears on screen. However, when I then exit the keyboard, the text miraculously appears. This only happens in notepad apps. My notepad of choice is "Note Everything", but I've now duplicated the problem in two other notepad apps. Im using Galaxy Note. Can anyone please offer any suggestions as to what might be going on here? Many thanks.

first try a soft reset (rebooting your phone)
then if that doesn't work backup using titanium backup and do a hard reset (wipe data)
have you tried using your hands instead of the stylus?

Many thanks.
Soft reset: Check.
Hard reset: That's drastic, especially as I only recentlty went though one. Hard resetting is never as straightforward as it's made out to be, I really would prefer to try other fixes first.
Stylus: I never use the stylus. Ever!

did the soft reset work?
if not you will have to do the hard reset. don't worry you can backup with titanium backup
after you backup with titanium just go to recovery and wipe data/ factory reset, then reboot, install titanium backup and restore all your apps.s easy as that

Soft reset has not worked, no.
And with all respect, I don't believe that a hard reset is the only remaining option. There's ab bug at work here and what I want to do is to track down and eliminate it. If I did a complete clone backup/restore that would just restore the bug as well, so an incremental restore would be necessary, and Tuitanium can't restore all the desktop widgets that are not able to be backed up, nor settings in various other programmes such as "Ringo Pro". There's still a lot of manual fiddling to be done following a hard reset. I'll hang on for a bit longer first for an alternative solution.
I sussed it! The notepad file was too long. Cutting down the length of the file completely solved the issue.

Factory reset - What EXACTLY happens?

Hello,
In my question, What EXACTLY happens during a factory reset, the emphasis is, obviously, on "exactly". I will explain why I need to know this - the research I've done has failed to answer my question.
Carrier-phones come with a bunch of pre-installed apps. Of all possible scenarios, Japanese smartphones, and particularly Sharp smartphones, are the worst case. They are very difficult to root, very finicky phones that seem to go into a boot loop whenever you do something to them that you're not supposed to - all the more challenging
If we manage to root a Sharp phone, the first thing we do is freeze some of the Docomo or Softbank pre-installed apps that take up precious memory. We know that if we want to do a factory reset, we must first un-freeze all those apps, or we risk going into a boot loop, and having to ship the phone back to Japan to get repaired (for those of use who don't live in Japan).
Now, the million dollar question is, what happens if we delete/uninstall those system apps? And here I am asking about the general case, hoping that Sharp haven't invented some twisted scheme here too.
When we do a factory reset, how does the phone know what was - and what is supposed to be - in the /system/apps folder? Hence: What EXACTLY happens during a factory reset?
Does the phone look up a file which contains a list of all those pre-installed app, and verify the contents of the /system/app folder against it --- and if something is missing, it gets stuck during reboot? Or does it simply delete the contents of the /data folder, without paying attention to /system/app? And why does it go into a boot loop, if a system app was frozen?
In the end, I don't simply want to freeze some apps, I want to get rid of them completely --- you can't imagine the load of BS that Japanese carriers cram into their phones (a built-in Rakuten auctions app, a McDonald's app, a BeeTV app??? and so on and so forth) --- but I want to make sure the phone isn't checking what's supposed to be in /system/app.
---------------------
In the case of my 005SH, the rootkit came with a recovery that helps me "resurrect" the phone from a boot loop - and that has happened twice after a factory reset so far - I deleted some seemingly insignificant app, and Titanium Backup failed to restore it for some reason, so it's now gone forever. But not every rootkit comes with a proper recovery...

Some system apps are important for the device to run properly and some are just bloatware that can be deleted without harm (e.g, Youtube, ChatOn.. etc). There are several app lists in the forum of safe app to remove (this is one).
But I advice you not to play with system apps if you don't know which app is safe to remove.

All app in system partition will be restored as if it was first time to be run, although all of your installed app, contacts, sms, WiFi access and data will be deleted

Thanks but this does not answer my question. I know perfectly well which apps are bloatware and which are essential. I will restate my question:
Is there some register or list, which the phone checks during factory reset, and which says what apps were originally installed in /system/app? That is, will the phone "know" that I have removed some of the original apps?

As I mentioned, factory reset will delete all data apps that can be found in data partition not those found in system partition.. If it happens some of original apps are installed in data partition, then they will be deleted (unless if they are found in preload partition!!).. I can't be clear more than this..

Really, read my question carefully, please, not just the title of the thread. You are talking about something very different.
It is known that on Japanese Sharp phones, if you uninstall and remove completely some of the apps that are installed by the manufacturer or the carrier in /system/app, when you do a factory reset, the phone may - or even will - go into a boot loop (will be bricked). This has nothing to do with apps that are installed in /data.
Is it possible that Sharp have added an extra "security" mechanism to their phones to prevent users from removing pre-installed apps (similar to their MIYABI LSM lock)? I want to know how to find this security mechanism, if it exists, and - hopefully, how to cheat it.
How does the phone know what apps are supposed to be in /system/app, and if it doesn't find them when rebooting after a factory reset, why does it go into a boot loop?

Factory Reset

Hello all. I have a quick question hoping to get an answer to. This being my first LG, if I do a Factory Reset will it wipe the internal hdd completely clean? I don't recall my Samsung GS3 wiping it completely. I just want to get rid of any non used files and/or folders from apps that were deleted.
Also, I'm running Xposed. Should I delete the mods and uninstall Xposed before the Factory Reset?

A factory reset will wipe the device to a state that looks like out of the box.
So anything thing you have installed will go away.
It won't wipe the microSD unless you select that option but you will lose all apps and such.

Question, will the Factory Reset return the software to 10B or will it still have the 11C OTA software?
Thanks,
You'll keep the version you're on. Thx Tech

It only erases user data and resets all the settings.
System level doesn't change.

Yeah, I figured as much, first LG phone so I thought I'd ask.
