Efuse - Motorola Droid X2

does anyone know if the x2 has the efuse component like many motorola phones have?

I've never heard of eFuse, so I just looked it up. eFuse sucks. lol. I dont know if the X2 has it but the Droid X apparantly does. It sounds like all Motorola phones might have this though, the way the article I read sounded.

Apparently, the fuse is already tripped from what I've gathered. I'm probably completely wrong.

You and me both... Not a developer here. Just what I've read.
I believe that by tripping the fuse it locks the bootloader.

what does this mean exactly?
cant root?
cant load apps?
sorry, i'll always be a noob at this stuff.
well, with my Atrix, until we get our bootloader bypass straightened out, we're just running Pseudo-ROMs right now (AOSP SMS, Gingerbread theme, etc.)
I'm not sure how this will affect your root though? I know that even my Inspire was a b**** to root, and all I had to do for my Atrix was SuperOneClick.

It'll be like the DX/D2. No custom kernels, no totally getting rid of Sense if you don't want it, etc. With root you can remove bloat from /system/app. But like I said, not sure if this will affect root or not.

Yes, but look at the all the development for the Motorola devices. The Atrix, it seems like, is the only device that seems like it has a chance to run custom kernels besides the OG Droid.
The Defy has 2nd init running, which allows for ROMs, but not kernels.
Evo 3D devs have a lot of work to do if they wanna crack this, I think.

We should be able to get partial root, similar to what was originally released from unrevoked. No custom kernals or ROMs, but you will be able to run any app that requires root as well as remove anything from the ROM that requires root access i.e. remove from system/app

As unfortunate as that may be (and it is really unfortunate) my CM7 work is going to be based on Moto's kernel because I have no choice in the matter atm. That being said, it only takes a few tweaks to make a new boot.img that can be flashed to the phone if and when we get an unlocked bootloader.

[Q] droid x2 overclocking kernal

I
Hello, I've rooted my ota Gingerbread x2 with "Petes motorola rooting tools" but would l ike to overclock. The stock droid x2 kernal does not seem to allow overclocking. IS there a kernal available for this?
Steve
Because of the locked bootloader there are no 3rd party kernels available.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
As BrianKLV said, the bootloader is locked. Until that is unlocked we won't get any over-clocking done. The best thing you can do right now is run the SuperCharger scripts as far as helping performance.
How do we still get these kinds of questions? It's silly...

It's actually not that silly. I was wondering the same thing because I had the Droid X and was able to overclock it and it had a locked bootloader. So one would think, that if it can be done with the Droid X then overclocking should be able to be done with the Droid X 2.
From what I've read, overclocking can be done with 2nd-init, But it took the DX almost a year to get there, so the DX2 might be a little faster but it's still too soon to expect any results.
It's all got to do with the most important resource any of these phones have : independent development by creative people.

Yeah... No.
Ha! Whoops, I should have check my spelling. I really made myself look like a dumb ass.
I meant I had a Droid X and it did not need unlocked bootloader or 2nd init to overclock. I use to use jrummys overclocking app long before 2nd init even came out for the X.
So that being the case its possible that our X2s may be able to still be overclocked. It may just take some waiting. Hopefully its sooner than later.

The X had a Dev phone version that was unlocked. Because of this the community had access to many files that otherwise would be unaccessible. With these they were able to create kernel modules that allowed overclocking even with a locked boot loader.
Unfortunately there are no X2 Dev phones in the wild. No Dev phone = no files, no files = no way to create a overclocking module, hence no way to currently overclock the X2.
Our only hope is a unlocked bootloader or a module based off the atrix kernel, unfortunately the people who are in the know don't really seem interested in trying. To busy with 4G phones lol.

Not true.
Not to be rude, but when I didn't have experience I read. It would have taken about 30 seconds of searching on google to find out that the X2 cannot be overclocked and why, probably less time than it took to create this thread.
Laziness, pure and simple.
When I have an issue I read. I was just putting out what I knew. Which wasn't the correct answer and Someone with more knowledge corrected me. Which taught me something new that I was unaware of and I appreciated.
So I hope you were talking about the person that created the original post, not me.
Speaking for the original poster. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the tread, you should avoid being an ass and shut your mouth. We have all been there in the beginning when experimenting and trying to find info. There is alot of info and reading to due, so it is also easy to miss something or not understand correctly.
So your post is a pointless waste of time and added absolutely nothing constructive.

I'm guessing he means soft-bricking? It's pretty darn easy to do that though. Hard brick, not so much. I once wiped /system and accidentally turned off my phone. Still managed to restore it.
Anyway, welcome to the Razr community. Look around, get your bearings, and start flashing random stuff. My advice? Not everything can be found on xda. So try looking around in other forums and stuff.
